Chapter Index

Since the topic came up, I acted immediately.

    “Oppa?”

“My beloved little sister, Arin~ You’re as cute, charming, and beautiful as ever today~”

    “Stop saying things like that…”

“How could I not call beauty beautiful when I see it?”

    “Sigh…”

I had just met Merlin’s little sister.

She looked exactly as she did in the Prophecy RPG.

    ‘Normally, he’s a perfectly fine guy…’

But whenever the topic of his little sister comes up, or when he meets her, he transforms into this.

    ‘Well…’ ‘It’s not entirely wrong, but…’

    Merlin’s little sister, Arin.

An incredibly adorable girl who seems to embody all the cuteness in the world.

She’s so cute that if Alice—who’s obsessed with cuteness—saw her, she’d scream in delight and come running.

    But.

In the Prophecy RPG, I couldn’t hug her.

She looked so fragile, like she’d shatter at the slightest touch.

    ‘It’s the same now.’

Because she had an incurable disease.

Just like in the Prophecy RPG, she was bedridden… Huh?

    ‘Why is she still bedridden?’

    Sophia had cast Healing Rain.

She cast it on a massive scale, enough to cover the entire Holy Nation, and even added dark magic to cure cancer.

    So.

I thought Merlin’s sister, who had cancer, would’ve been cured by now.

    But no.

    Merlin’s sister was still sick.

    Why?

“Let me check for a moment.” “Yes, Teacher K.”

Merlin looked at his sister and gave a brief explanation.

“This is Teacher K.” “He’s here to cure your illness, so don’t be scared.”

“Sigh…” “You didn’t bring another fraud this time, did you?” “No.” “This time, I have a good feeling about it.” “……Alright.”

Arin looked at me and spoke.

“Hello.” “I’m Arin, the younger sister of Merlin over there.”

She was treating me with respect and using formal speech, but her voice was quite sharp.

    Understandable.

The Demon Bomb Disease is a severe, incurable illness even the Goddess of Light, Serena, acknowledges.

There are zero recorded cases of successful treatment, and everyone who claimed they could cure it turned out to be frauds.

    Of course she’d be wary.

    So.

    No need for long talk.

The first thing to do is prove I’m not a fraud.

“I’m K.” “We can chat more after I cure you.” “Huh?…” “Let me check your condition first.”

    I focused for a moment.

    ‘I am an X-ray machine.’

    I imagined it.

I visualized scanning Arin’s body with magic.

    This is my unique magic.

    [Health Diagnosis]

An original spell I created by combining my knowledge of magic and medicine.

‘It’s true that dark magic can sacrifice cancer cells, bacteria, and viruses to cure diseases.’ ‘But that’s only if you can find them.’

At the very least, cancer cells are easy to find.

Just locate the cells that go berserk when healing magic touches them.

But bacteria and viruses are harder to detect.

They’re too small to see with the naked eye, and they’re difficult to detect in the first place.

    So I made this.

A spell that scans the entire body to identify ailments.

    ‘Hmm…’

I used it to examine Arin’s body.

‘The cancer cells are definitely gone.’

    But.

    Other illnesses remained.

‘Wow…’ ‘At this point, she’s just a complete mess.’

    Not just one or two.

Her entire body was riddled with various problems.

‘So this is why they “cured” her like that…’

In the Prophecy RPG, if you recruit the Archmage Merlin as an ally, you see his sister regain her health.

    Huh?

How did they cure an incurable disease, you ask?

    They didn’t.

They just created a new, healthy body and transferred her soul into it.

They discarded the diseased body, and she became healthy by receiving a new one.

I had no idea Merlin’s sister was this messed up because of that “treatment.”

‘I thought she only had the Demon Bomb Disease…’

    Nope.

She was a complete set of multiple illnesses.

‘Wow…’ ‘This was beyond saving without a full body replacement.’

    But who am I?

The miracle doctor, Teacher K, who’s proficient in magic, dark magic, and medicine!

    ‘Well…’ ‘I’m only a beginner in all three, but…’

    Magic?

Pathetic compared to a real mage.

    Dark magic?

    Just the basics.

    Medicine?

Embarrassing next to a real doctor.

    But.

I’m the only one who knows all three to some degree and can use them simultaneously.

‘In terms of pure medical skill, I’m above a Saintess.’

    So.

This much is easy for me.

…Or so I thought as I treated her one by one.

‘Sacrifice all the bad things in her body.’

Honestly, I have no idea whether the things in Arin’s body are bacteria, viruses, or parasites.

The magic detects them, but they just show up as red dots.

    Still.

    That’s enough.

Just sacrifice all the red dots worsening her condition, and it’s done.

    ‘Clear all the blockages too.’

I don’t know if it’s fat, waste, or something else, but anything clogging her blood vessels gets sacrificed and removed.

    ‘Remove all the toxins.’

Sacrifice all the impurities in her body to cleanse it.

I removed everything bit by bit like this.

    ‘Is this enough?’

All the red parts are gone.

    But.

    It’s not over yet.

‘I’ve removed everything, but the wounds remain.’

    In fact, they’re worse.

I cut away all the rotten parts, but that left even more wounds.

Leaving her like this could make her condition deteriorate further.

    So I prepared.

    “Summon!” “Huh?…”

    I summoned Serena (the dog).

The Puppet Mage Dog can be used like a summon, and since I’m registered as its owner,

I can summon it easily like this.

    “Ka—whimper!…”

The moment she saw me, she tried to say my name but stopped herself and spoke quietly.

    “Don’t say my name.”

    Nod nod

“Good.” “Sigh… So, what’s the matter?” “I need a favor.” “A favor?” “Spread some holy energy on her to heal her wounds.”

Holy energy inherently has healing properties, so just spreading it has a healing effect.

    Whoosh!

    Serena spread holy energy.

Slowly, Arin’s condition began to improve.

“Huh?… My body doesn’t hurt?…” “How is it? Feeling better?” “Yes… It doesn’t hurt at all… How did you…?” “In terms of healing skill alone, I’m better than a Saintess.”

I needed Serena’s help because I can’t use healing magic myself, but my medical skills are above a Saintess’s.

    No lies there.

“Wow… You really are amazing!” “Your voice sounds much softer now too?” “Ah… That’s…” “It’s fine.” “It’s natural to be irritable when you’re in pain.” “Thank you for understanding…”

    Arin bowed her head, embarrassed.

“Now that you’re healthy, go do what you want.” “Huh?…” “You had a lot of things you wanted to do, right?”

In the Prophecy RPG, the moment she got better, she started reading magic books—she loves magic that much.

Is it because she’s the Archmage Merlin’s sister?

    She’s a magic otaku too.

    But.

Her body was in too much pain to read magic books, train in magic, or do anything else.

Cancer cells react to mana, so she couldn’t use magic, or even read magic books.

    But not anymore.

    …I added one more thing.

“I need to talk to your brother, so could you give us some space?” “Ah!… If that’s the case…”

    Arin quickly left.

    ‘She runs well.’

She’d been bedridden for so long, so her muscles should’ve atrophied to the point she couldn’t move properly.

    But.

Healing magic restores muscles too, so she could run right away.

    Impressive.

…With that thought, I looked at Merlin.

“How is it?” “Teacher K.” “Yeah.” “I’ll be indebted to you for life!!!”

Merlin immediately pressed his forehead to the ground in gratitude.

“You mean that?” “Yes!!!” “Then you’ll do the rest of the job well too?” “This Merlin will do anything for Teacher K!” “Will you keep that attitude no matter what kind of person I am?” “Yes!… Uh… Uhm…” “What’s with that reaction?” “By any chance… Are you a demon, or something…?”

He’s grateful, but he can’t betray humanity, huh?

If that’s the concern, don’t worry.

“It’s nothing like that.” “If anything, I’m part of the hero’s party.” “The hero’s party?!” “More accurately, I’m tagging along as the hero’s teacher.” “Incredible! As expected of Teacher K! To think you’re such a great figure that you even teach the hero!…” “Well… Anyway, that’s the kind of person I am. I plan to entrust you with saving the world.” “I’ll gladly take on such a task!” “Good.” “Then I’ll reveal my identity.”

    I took off my robe.

I even removed all the magic tools hiding my identity.

“D-rank adventurer, Cain. That’s who I am.” “D-rank adventurer?… Teacher K is D-rank?…” “Yep.” “That can’t be right?!” “Why do you say that?” “The Fragment of Truth you gave me alone proves you’re an incredible mage! The medical skills you used to heal my sister are above a Saintess’s! So how…?!” “You find it strange that I’m D-rank?” “Yes. No matter how I think about it, Teacher K doesn’t belong in D-rank.” “But I am D-rank.” “In terms of stats alone, I’m definitely D-rank.” “……I see.”

    Merlin nodded and said,

“I understand.” “But even if you’re D-rank, my respect for you won’t fade. In fact, it’s grown even more!” “Even more respect?” “Yes!” “With just the power of a D-rank, you’ve awakened to the truth and mastered the pinnacle of medicine! You’re truly a great person!”

Merlin praised me with an even more moved expression.

    And.

Serena, who was beside me, chimed in.

“Right.” “Cain is a great human, even by my standards.”

    Merlin reacted immediately.

“Teacher K?” “Yeah?” “For a puppet summon to act so insolently toward its master… This is unacceptable… May I boldly request to modify your puppet?”

Merlin said with a serious expression.

    Uh…

You sure you can handle that?
