Chapter Index

Finally, the royal envoys’ ceremony was over, and it was time for those who had gathered for the event at the palace to have their closing banquet and leave.

Originally, there was to be no triumphal procession or banquet because the Emperor was unhappy about the Crown Prince’s injury, but the situation changed abruptly.

The crown prince appears wearing a new type of golem armour created by Krun.

And the reactions of the surrounding nobles who were amazed at seeing the crown prince like that were truly enthusiastic.

In particular, the person who showed the most unexpected reaction was none other than the Emperor.

An astonishing scene where the emperor, who was said to have cold air flowing through his body instead of blood, shed tears upon seeing the crown prince move his right arm naturally.

It was only natural that the emperor would host an unplanned triumphal procession and banquet.

“Rupert Somerset, your merits are hardly small.”

The Emperor was the first of many to approach Rupert and speak to him directly among those attending the closing banquet.

Even when he was selecting his subjects, the Emperor, who had been cold to him, felt burdened when he praised Rupert with affectionate words.

Under the Emperor’s rule, the eyes of those around him are focused on Rupert.

Rupert barely managed to show his gratitude to the Emperor, but the Emperor continued speaking as if that was not enough.

“Do you intend to work for the royal family?”

Rupert was so embarrassed by the Emperor’s sudden proposal that he ended up being rude and unable to continue speaking.

If it had been normal, not being able to answer the emperor’s question right away would have been a lasting embarrassment, but this time it was an exception.

As the Emperor continued to ask if he would become the Crown Prince’s new chief chamberlain, a thousand thoughts raced through Rupert’s mind.

The position of the Crown Prince’s chief chamberlain was a coveted position for all the imperial nobility who were not heirs.

If the crown prince later ascends to the throne as emperor, his chief of staff would become a count of the palace and one of his closest associates, a position that would truly be a path to success.

Although he was a single-line nobleman and not a successor, it was a valuable position that could lead to the creation of a new count, so it was a position coveted by all second sons of noble families.

If it had been the early days of his possession in another world, Rupert would have accepted the offer without even looking back.

    but

‘What will happen to my family if I become the chief chamberlain?’

Even if the father runs the family without any problems for a while, the only successors left are Rupert and Ada.

In such a situation, if Rupert disappears, Ada should inherit the family.

Of course, even so, the position of the crown prince’s chief chamberlain was a position that was unconditionally advantageous to receive.

Unlike the counts of the country estates, the imperial chamberlains or counts of the palace were closely connected to power, and all sorts of wealth poured in, making them some of the wealthiest men in the empire.

Moreover, you can even have power based on the royal family.

The very fact that the Emperor offered Rupert such a position was a clear indication of how much he appreciated him.

“Your Majesty, I am at a loss for words to be asked to give me such an honorable position. However, I am not qualified to take on such an important position, so please do not speak.”

If I become the chief chamberlain of the imperial family, the rest of my life in this world will surely be smooth sailing.

The Crown Prince’s position, which had been unstable, has been solidified by this incident, and the Crown Prince trusts Rupert.

    But Rupert chose the family.

‘I can’t give up on people until they give up on me.’

Although he did not choose Rupert, he felt a sense of duty and indebtedness after being possessed by Rupert.

And the people he called together to do what he wanted to do.

Count Bradley, Ada, Krun, Sena, Esteban, etc. Don’t you already have so many people gathered around you and relying on each other?

Money and power are good, but Rupert realized that what he had right now was something that money and power could not have, so this was the answer he could give.

The Emperor looked surprised at Rupert’s answer, as if he had not expected him to reject it.

The crown prince had a regretful expression on his face, as if asking why she was turning down this opportunity.

On the other hand, the expression on the face of Yustav, who was standing next to the Crown Prince, was a little different.

    ***

After the closing banquet, Rupert finally returned to his estate and was met with a fierce welcome from Ada, who had a lot of horns, without any time to rest.

“Eda also wants to go to Hwanggul!”

    “It’s not a cave, it’s a palace.”

Ada, who still didn’t know what kind of place the palace that Rupert had visited was, simply thought that her brother had gone somewhere fun without her.

But Ada, who seemed to have been waiting for him so desperately, was cute and tried to hug him.

    “No! Ada is angry.”

He quickly ran away from Rupert’s arms, then got on the horse next to him and disappeared somewhere in the mansion.

“What kind of dog is that fast?”

Rupert is amazed at Ratchet’s agility, making it hard to believe he’s carrying a small child.

He was already a special guy who saved Ada from the warlock’s attack.

I felt like I wanted to give something to him.

    ‘What do dogs like?’

Rupert briefly considered whether to prepare a special meal such as fresh beef or pork, then informed his father, the Earl of Bradley, of his return and headed straight to his workshop.

I just wanted to rest, but I had some time wasted due to an unexpected visit to the capital.

In order to release volumes 7 and 8 simultaneously, I had to work as diligently as possible.

Of course, I won’t push myself as hard as I used to.

Rupert sat down at his desk, took out his storyboard manuscript, and began drawing.

“I wanted to finish it in 7 volumes, but it’s not easy.”

Since it wasn’t a webtoon he had drawn himself but was serialized as a comic book, it was difficult for Rupert to estimate the length.

, which was initially planned to be only 7 volumes, ended up needing at least 10 volumes to be completed.

Of course, with the current pace of work, completion is not far off, so it was time to start thinking about a sequel.

‘For my next work, I have to completely eliminate any elements that people might misunderstand.’

Because while serializing this work, Rupert almost fell into a big crisis due to a series of ridiculous misunderstandings and coincidences.

I was thinking of making my next work using a subject that people are not familiar with.

I thought there wouldn’t be any problem if I drew a story set in the unknown world of the Eastern Continent or a story about a non-human race, such as an elf.

The Eastern Continent was known only to a small extent by merchants who imported tea, but the general public only knew that such a place existed.

Elves are not a race that people commonly see, so even if you write a story about them, you wouldn’t know if it’s true or not.

Moreover, if it was an elf, it would be enough material to attract people’s interest. Not only were the characters slender and beautiful, but their mysteriousness made it seem like they were a race born for the work.

But Rupert felt that something was lacking in the simple elf story, and then another good idea flashed through his mind.

    ‘Vampire!’

Stories of blood-sucking monsters have always been popular, not only in the West, where they originated, but also in the East.

Whether it’s movies, comics, novels, or dramas, vampire-themed works have always existed and have always been a popular genre.

Rupert thought of a piece where he cut down vampires with a sword, and also a cool piece where he swept away vampires with guns and swords.

‘There are vampires in this world too.’

I thought that if it was a story about a secret organization that defeated vampires who threatened the continent, it would be easy for people from another world to accept.

Also, this time, in order to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings, I felt that it would be more realistic if the main character was human but the background was an alien race like an elf.

So, the plans for the next work were more or less finalized.

Rupert, who had returned to working on the storyboards for volumes 7 and 8, re-assembled the story outline.

The story had already entered its second half. The main characters were scattered and were running around trying to stop each other’s plans.

His older brother, Edmund, is leading the army from the north and the military is preparing a comeback even while Lloyd Cavallo is under surveillance.

The climax of the scene is when Alex, the younger brother, realizes the truth he has offered to the heavenly gate, awakens, and confronts the androids.

In particular, Lloyd Cavallo, who defeated Luxria of Lust and Invidia of Jealousy one after another, could be said to be the main character of Volume 7.

The main story of Volume 8 is about the moment when the identity of the protagonist’s father, von Paracelsus, is revealed and the complex emotions of Edmund intersect.

If up until now the shocking scenes had been used to grab readers’ attention, now it was time to give them a thrill by having the past stories mesh together like intricately designed gears.

“Master, you’re working right after you get here. Don’t overdo it again.”

“I know. That’s why I decided to drink only one bottle of vitality potion a day.”

When Alain handed Rupert an Americano with ice and spoke with concern, Rupert replied that he would be careful.

In fact, the work speed has increased compared to before, but the part that Rupert is in charge of has been reduced a lot, so he has more free time than before, so that was the answer that came out.

‘Ada is upset because I left her seat, so I need to vent my anger.’

The sight of Ada, who had been to the capital without him, kept bothering me.

I’ll probably wake up and find it empty, but since it’s been a while since I made a picture book for Ada, I thought I’d try drawing something new this time.

Many of the people who were waiting for my work were children, so this time I wanted to give them a bright and cheerful story.

‘I’d like a story with a bit of an adventure.’

I’ve drawn a lot of fairy tales with princesses, and the recently released was instructive but very sad, so I wanted to try something bright this time.

And then, not long after, I suddenly remembered the games I enjoyed playing before being possessed in another world.

A Korean console game that reinterpreted classic fairy tales and released them as soul-like games.

Clearly, the story was a beautiful one that stimulated children’s sense of adventure and innocence.
