Chapter Index

    “Ugh…”

An early evening greeted with a dreadful hangover.

Struggling to rise as if turned into a zombie, my trashed studio apartment comes into view.

Not the familiar sight I’m used to, but an unfamiliar scene.

Feeling like something went terribly wrong, I start looking around with a dazed expression.

“What did I do to make the room look like this?”

…What on earth happened while I was out of it?

Slowly retracing yesterday’s events, but nothing stands out in my memory.

After a heated argument, we extended our cohabitation by a month, and then…

    “I must have done something.”

Despite my pounding head, my body is inexplicably brimming with energy.

Sensing the feeling that can only come from drinking human blood, I can speculate that I soon sank my fangs into Jaehyuk.

“It’s strange that I don’t feel any urge to drink blood at all…”

I intended to get through the extended period without incidents, yet I managed to mess up right from the start.

After a long sigh, I quietly open the door to check on Jaehyuk’s condition first.

    Bubble bubble bubble.

Stepping out of the room, the sound of boiling pot and a delicious aroma tickle my nose.

…Is that pollack soup? A perfect choice for relieving a hangover and having dinner.

Nodding my head, I glance towards the kitchen to find Jaehyuk looking refreshed.

He sets the table with rice and side dishes, then weakly sits down and speaks.

    “…Up already?”

    “Uh, yeah…”

“…Your hangover seems bad, so eat quickly. You need to sober up before heading to work.”

After finishing his sentence, he starts picking at his food as if lacking appetite.

Seeing his somewhat pitiful state, I cautiously inquire about his well-being.

“Is your, um, body okay? You don’t look too good…”

“Yeah, not feeling great. Almost took a trip to the afterlife thanks to someone. Haha, it’s dizzying just thinking about it again.”

    “…”

“It’s fine, everyone should have a thrilling near-death experience once, right? I almost died, but I didn’t, right?”

Jaehyuk takes a sip of the pollack soup and continues with a relieved expression.

“So, did you satisfy your curiosity? Want to know if drinking blood mixed with alcohol makes you drunk?”

    “W-Well…”

“Don’t beat around the bush, just say it. I’m really curious about the results too.”

Seems like he’s still upset about yesterday’s incident.

In his subtly angry tone, I tremble slightly and respond.

    “I-I don’t remember… s-since I mentioned extending our cohabitation by a month.”

    “…”

Lowering his head and glancing around, he lets out a sigh with a faint expression.

“So… all the conversations we had are meaningless.”

“W-What kind of conversation did we have? Was it… important?”

“It was somewhat important. You confessed to me, crying and saying you love me. Don’t you remember?”

    “Uh, really…?”

    My thoughts momentarily freeze.

What did I do or say to that guy?

Trying to gauge the truth, I stare intently at Jaehyuk’s face, but his pale and blank expression reveals no information.

    No way, I couldn’t have…?

Of course, there’s gratitude for helping during tough times.

Being together brings comfort and a subtle sense of reliance.

But romantically attracted? I don’t see it.

    Look at me now.

My heart isn’t racing at all.

How on earth did those words come out?

Lost in foolish contemplation, the sound of a camera shutter is followed by his cheap laughter.

“Wow, your expression is truly a work of art. I should tease you about this for a long time.”

    “You little…”

“Are you upset? If so, maybe you should control your drinking instead of cutting off the film. Who can’t get their act together when they’re drunk?”

    “…”

“Don’t make that sulky face and go eat something, man. You’ll be starving once that cools down.”

As he said, this is all my fault for failing to control my drinking.

Thinking I don’t even have the right to be angry now, I silently began to eat the food he had prepared for me.

“You attack women when you see them because you’re horny? Ridiculous. Why should I give my precious protein to those thieves?”

“I’ve never even touched a woman inappropriately. If I had acted like the ones on the eye site, I would have been featured in the news a long time ago.”

    “Chumps worse than orcs…”

“What exactly do you think of me?”

“Thank you again, Miss. Phew, thanks to you, I feel like I can make it through another day tomorrow.”

“Oh, I just listened to your story. I hope you have a better day tomorrow than today.”

“Haha, thanks for the kind words! If I have time, I’ll come back again!”

    “Thank you always. Take care!”

With a bright smile and lighter steps, another guest leaves the cocktail bar.

As I watch that figure contentedly, starting to clean up, the protagonist approaches me with sparkling eyes.

“It’s really fascinating every time I see it.”

    “What is?”

“Customers who are like raging bulls become gentle lambs in front of you, sis. Sigh… They all turn into troublemakers in front of me.”

“Heh, that’s because you take jokes well. Still, you seem to enjoy talking to customers, don’t you?”

“…I didn’t want this kind of image. I also want to listen to customers’ worries warmly and compassionately like you do, sis.”

The protagonist complains with a sullen expression.

After grumbling for a while, he looked at me and let out a deep sigh.

“Well, maybe people become gentle lambs in front of you because you’re so big?”

    “…”

“Envious, really. How nice would it be if I were that big…”

…Being big doesn’t mean there are only good things.

I wanted to comfort him by pointing out the drawbacks of having a big chest one by one, but I felt like our relationship might sour if I did that.

So, I just lightly patted his head and started welcoming the guest who had just arrived.

“Welcome, Midnight! Oh? Long time no see, guest! Have you been well all this time?”

The guest I welcomed this time was a regular who suddenly disappeared about a month ago, saying he was going to lose weight.

Seeing how much weight he had lost, I widened my eyes in surprise.

I’m not sure, but he seems to have lost at least 15… no, 20kg?

In the past, if one had to say something nice about his appearance, he was chubby. Now, he’s on the plump side.

It’s amazing how a person can change so much in just a month, I thought as I handed him the menu.

The man hurriedly ordered cocktails as if being chased by something.

“K-Kahlua Milk and Blue Hawaiian, and Jun Bug! Please make them as quickly as possible!”

“Yes? Yes! Order received! Kahlua Milk and Blue Hawaiian…”

“That’s right, so please make them quickly! Please!”

…As he lost a lot of weight, it seems his temperament has become more impatient.

I wondered what kind of story led him to transform into this state.

I wanted to ask, but when I discreetly glanced at him, he didn’t seem like someone who would answer.

Silently, I quickly made the cocktails and handed them to the man.

“Here are the cocktails you ordered…”

    “Thank you!”

Setting the glass down abruptly, the man started gulping down the cocktail as if it were beer.

In a flash, after downing a glass of Kahlua Milk, he let out a joyful shout and swiftly consumed the Jun Bug.

If a demon from Buddhism were to descend upon the mortal world, wouldn’t it present itself in exactly that manner?

Watching the bizarre scene with the other bartenders, the man tearfully lifted his last glass.

“I’m happy… But why do I feel so sad?”

Perhaps wanting to savor the last cocktail slowly, the man brought the Blue Hawaiian cocktail glass to his lips slowly, but unfortunately, he couldn’t achieve his goal.

“Sir, is today not your cheat day?”

    “Ah, ah, ahh…!”

…At that moment, a green figure revealed itself.

It subdued him briefly and snatched the cocktail glass away.

“You want to lose weight, don’t you? Sigh… It’s troublesome if you keep doing this, sir.”

    “Troublesome…! This hellish… training, right…! This isn’t dieting…! It’s torture, torture!!!”

“Haha, such an exaggeration. Where in the world is exercise not hard? Besides… You’re the one who wanted this in the first place, right?”

    “Ack, aahh!!!”

Even without hearing, one could roughly imagine the guest’s story.

Looking pitifully at the man who was struggling, the orc awkwardly smiled and hoisted him up.

“We sincerely apologize for causing trouble due to our member. A proper apology… will be given shortly.”

Bowing his head in apology, he then proceeded to leave the bar with the man.

…Since there’s no need for an apology, can’t they just not come back?

Staring endlessly at the disappearing orc and man through the door.

    I slowly shook my head.
