by fnovelpiaLiris kicked open the military barracks door with her lips tightly shut. The inside of the barracks, made of thick tents, was clouded with smoke from the torches, but the fierce gazes of the densely packed demon officers shone sharply, as if they would not tolerate even a moment of darkness. The inside of the barracks was filled with a suffocating, heavy silence. The tension and anxiety of the impending war were thick in the air.
Lilith walked toward the conference table with heavy steps. On the table were spread out maps of the Demon World and Heaven, and red and blue flags were planted here and there to indicate the battlefield situation. The Demon leaders surrounding the table all fixed their gazes on Lilith. Their eyes were firm and burning with determination.
Queen Luciferia sat at the top of the table, waiting for Lilith. Her pale face was even more hardened, and her sharp eyes were as cold as ice. Agni sat next to the queen with a fierce expression, and Sepia and Rhea sat next to her. Everyone was waiting for Lilith’s report with a gloomy and solemn expression.
Lilith took a deep breath and began her report in a calm but cold voice.
“In heaven… I met Mya.”
As the name [Mya] flowed from her lips, the air in the barracks became even heavier. The eyes of the Demon Clan officers flashed with intense emotions.
“The angels were… calling Mary ‘Savior’.”
Lilith continued with a bitter smile.
“They worshipped Mya as a divine being and cared for her with utmost devotion. She was given a magnificent palace, the finest food and clothing, and was attended to by countless angels… They truly… cherished her and treated her like a treasure.”
There was a sneer and a strange jealousy in Lilith’s voice. Her tone, as she described how the angels treated Mya, was sharp and sarcastic.
“But… Mya… didn’t look happy there.”
Lilith paused and remained silent for a moment. Complex emotions flashed through her red eyes. Sadness, anger, and… perhaps… regret.
“That guy… looked lifeless, like a bird in a cage… crushed by the worship of angels. His eyes… were no longer the lively ones they used to be. They were just… empty eyes… staring blankly into space.”
Lilith’s voice trembled. She felt a pain tearing deep in her heart as she recalled Mya’s sad eyes. Mya, whom she loved and cherished so much, was being held captive by angels and suffering. For Lilith, it was the most unbearable pain.
“And… that guy… told me not to… call him… ‘Mya’ anymore.”
Lilith continued speaking with difficulty.
“His name is… Kim Hyun-seong… He said he wanted to regain his name as a human being.”
Liris’s last words made the barracks as cold as ice. The demon leaders all held their breath and looked at Liris. Their faces showed a complex mix of shock, sadness, and anger.
“… Damn it… .”
The silence was broken by Agni’s growling voice. She jumped up from her seat and swept the table with her hand. Maps and magical instruments poured out onto the floor, and the barracks instantly turned into a scene of chaos.
“Those damn angels… How dare… Our Mya… !”
Agni’s voice trembled with anger, her golden eyes burned like fierce flames, and her hands trembled.
“I can’t forgive you…! Absolutely… I can’t forgive you…!”
Agni’s shout ignited the suppressed anger of the demon leaders. The barracks were instantly filled with angry voices and a fierce atmosphere. The demons were all determined to go to war with the heavens to reclaim Mya.
The rumor from heaven spread throughout the demon world in an instant.
The upper echelons of the Demon Tribe intentionally spread the rumors. In order to use the Demon Tribe’s emotions, burning with anger and desire for revenge, as a fuse for war.
The rumors were exaggerated and distorted beyond control and reached the ears of the demons.
Those angels call Mya a ‘savior’? That’s ridiculous!
How dare you worship our Mya as a divine being! Disgusting!
Those celestial bastards dare to defile Mya! We must invade immediately and tear them to pieces!
Rumors spread uncontrollably, and the demons were seething with anger, hatred, jealousy, and madness.
The demon nobles were furious and canceled the banquet, smashing expensive bottles of wine and furniture. Their reddened eyes were filled with murderous intent to immediately invade the heavens and turn them into a wasteland.
The lower-level demons cried out. They despaired of Mya’s absence, and groaned that they would rather die if they could not bring him back. The lower-level demons, who were usually known for their ferocity, were crying out for Mya.
The warriors pounded their weapons, polished their armor, and burned with the will to fight. Their tightly shut lips let out a ragged breath, and the blades they held in their hands radiated an eerie coldness. Their red eyes were bloodshot, and they were burning with a fierce determination to storm the heavens and slaughter all their enemies.
[The angels dare to call our Mya a ‘savior’?]
[That’s not even funny! Mya doesn’t go with that dirty light!]
[Those angels are defiling Mya’s purity!]
[Give us back our Mya!]
The demons were furious. To them, the word ‘savior’ was nothing more than a conventional adjective for angels, full of disgusting hypocrisy and pretense. How dare they, with their filthy mouths, praise their precious Mya? They could not tolerate it.
Someone you always want to keep by your side and caress.
A being so lovely and cute that you can’t take your eyes off of it for even a moment.
Small and fragile beings that need to be protected by others.
A being that is worth pouring all of their affection and obsession into.
A being that only looks at itself and relies only on itself.
Mya is ours!
A roar erupted from all over the Demon Realm. The roar of the demons, mixed with anger, hatred, vengeance, and madness, seemed to cover the Demon Realm sky and echo all the way to Heaven.
The demons were united as one. The demons who were usually at odds and jealous of each other were united with only one thought in mind: to reclaim Mya. Their spirits were sky-high, and their eyes were gleaming with madness.
The Demon Realm accelerated its preparations for war. All factories and workshops were in full operation, and the Demons worked day and night to make weapons and repair armor. Although logistics were disrupted, the Demons silently carried out their duties without a single complaint. The only thing that mattered to them was to reclaim Mya.
The demons firmly believed that they would definitely win the war against the heavens and reclaim the stolen Mya. In their hearts, there was only blind love for Mya and boiling hatred for the angels.
The Queen of the Demon Realm, Luciferia, stood alone on the empty wasteland, her pitch-black wings folded. Her gaze was directed to the Fortress of Light, towering over the border with the heavens. The huge fortress, radiating golden light, was like a crystal of condensed divine energy, forming a stark contrast to the desolate landscape of the Demon Realm covered in darkness.
Luciferia stared at the fortress with a pale face. Her red eyes held a sharp coldness that seemed to melt even the cold moonlight. The wind blew and blew her silver hair, but she stood firm without moving. It was like the back of a lonely queen facing a huge fortress alone.
An all-out offensive… is imminent.
Luciferia muttered to herself. The light emanating from the fortress had become more intense than usual, and the movements of the celestial army had become noticeably more hectic. The angels were desperately strengthening their defensive posture. Their anxiety and tension seemed to be transmitted to the demon world.
You stupid angels.
Luciferia snorted. The celestial fortress was strong, but it could not stop her army. The demons were united in their single-minded determination to reclaim Mya, and their anger and desire were strong enough to break through any defense.
Soon… I’ll come to you, Mya.
Luciferia glared at the fortress once more. The pale light emanating from it seemed to her like a mockery. It was cold, false, and repulsive. She wanted to erase it forever.
The pale light will disappear, and only a cozy darkness will surround you.
Luciferia pressed her tightly shut lips even harder. Her hands clenched into fists, and she felt her nails digging into her palms. But she didn’t even feel pain. In her heart, there was only a blind longing for Mya.
You are mine.
Luciferia’s red eyes glowed even brighter and she swore in her heart.
From the moment we first met, to now, and… until the end of this world.
Her oath echoed silently under the pitch-black night sky. The queen’s firm determination, along with the shadow of war that loomed over the entire demon world, seemed like it would never fade away.
