Chapter Index

[ Grants the target a physical attribute weakness. ]

    “Ugh!”

Rohan pushed both hands through the iron plates he had cut with his dagger.

And he tears it open. He flexes his arms, ignoring the swaying vines, and splits the plate apart.

    Paaang───!!! Booong───!!!

A car that was walking on all fours on vines rolled its wheels as if they were going to burst.

The horn blared like a scream. The dagger that had been stuck in the bumper fell out as if it was being vomited out.

Does the parasitic monster instinctively feel that it is dangerous, or does it writhe in pain?

Unfortunately, neither side was able to escape Rohan’s grasp.

──Crack!!! As Rohan roughly dismantled the door with his hands, the vines that had been supporting the body began to wobble, losing their strength.

He finished off the fight by kicking the car, which flipped over onto its side.

    [ +3P ]

A sure sign that the monster is dead.

Then, a loud noise rings out from beyond the wall and points pour out.

    Works by Zion and Clara.

Rohan wiped away the sweat dripping down his face after checking that the two girls returned unscathed from dealing with the monster horde.

    ‘Wow, this crazy weather.’

As you get closer to your destination, the level of the monsters definitely increases.

The problem is not only the level of the monsters, but also the temperature is rising abnormally.

If I hadn’t had a body with magical powers, I would have definitely become a guest who would never return from this murderous heat.

I don’t know if this is a phenomenon that occurs as you move towards the center or if it occurs over time.

I don’t even want to know.

Because no matter what the answer, there is no other way than forward.

“Brother! The road is clear now!”

“Fighting against motorcycles and electric poles… This battle was a particularly ridiculous nightmare.”

It was so hot and humid that I wondered if this was where hell was, but the girls showed no sign of irritation or conflict.

Rohan finds that part particularly interesting.

    [I bought bottled water.]

    “Good work, both of you.”

He gave Zion and Clara a glass of cool water each. Then he walked, trying to find shade as much as possible.

Rohan, who was in the lead, checked the smartphone timer while moving.

    ‘···28 hours and 6 minutes.’

It’s been a full day since I’ve been in the dungeon.

I don’t use it for anything other than checking the elapsed time, so the battery is a little under half full. There’s still plenty of room.

Right now, it’s more important to be careful not to let the heat get to you than to let the battery die.

    Thud. Thud. Thud.

I walked quickly under the buildings, which were leaning precariously and supporting each other.

As you pass them, you see the overpass. Two overpasses that are laid out in an X shape and are in ruins.

Rohan approached it as if nothing had happened, searching his memory for the familiar structure.

‘It took the main character’s party three days to get to this point.’

I recall the break event that took place in Abyss City.

    And contrast.

‘Okay. This is much faster than I thought.’

I had expected it would take at least two days to get here, but my expectations were pleasantly shattered as Zion and Clara began to mesh together.

After fighting all day, the three of them got to know each other’s styles and got along well.

It’s nice to see that Saido and Clara have become closer as they move back and forth across the front lines. It also seems like Sion has figured out how to communicate with Clara.

Rohan approached the broken overpass and closely checked that there were no vines.

He advised the two girls who followed him.

“Shall we take a break here? The shade is quite large.”

    “Yeah!”

    “Okay.”

As Rohan began to rest, he took off his jacket, threw it away roughly, and took off his shirt.

Whether it was wrinkled or not, he twisted it like a donut and squeezed it. Sweat dripped down onto the floor.

Zion hid behind the debris, out of Rohan’s sight, and squeezed out her sleeveless shirt in her underwear.

But Clara only takes off her thick, long boots.

Although she sweats the least out of the three, Clara doesn’t completely avoid sweating. The only problem is that her outfit is a bit tricky to pull off.

“Clara. Do you need more water?”

    “There’s still water left···!”

Rohan, wearing a rumpled shirt, sat down next to Clara.

The girl no longer showed the same anxiety she had when she first fell into the dungeon.

“Aren’t you hungry? Or do you want something sweet?”

“It hasn’t been that long since I ate. It’s okay.”

Clara smiled shyly as she answered Rohan’s question.

Because I could feel Rohan’s kindness as he checked on his and Zion’s condition from time to time.

    ‘Really, I’m glad I have a brother…’

At moments like these, I definitely feel like Rohan is my older brother.

Although it is a category of intuition that cannot be clearly proven, skills are only a part of Rohan’s abilities.

I was confident that I would definitely be able to escape this dungeon if I followed the broad back. Thanks to that, my mind was at ease.

“Rohan. Wouldn’t it be better to eat during the next break rather than now?”

Zion came out dressed. He came over and sat down next to the two people who were resting.

“I wonder. Would Clara be okay with that?”

“Yeah! I think it would be better to do as you say.”

Before we knew it, even the way the two girls addressed each other had changed.

    It is a great development.

    ““···.””

So the three of them enjoyed a leisurely rest under the shade created by the overpass.

There wasn’t really any conversation, but it was a comfortable silence.

    “Now let’s move.”

A word from Rohan, who emptied the water. Zion and Clara prepare without saying a word.

Clara put her feet into the boots she had taken off and started tying the laces, while Zion put his goggles back on and stood up.

Zion looked around to make sure he hadn’t dropped anything.

Rohan took in the sight of Zion as he put on his clothes.

And then I saw something strange.

    ‘huh?’

It was no mistake. The corners of Zion’s mouth slightly rose.

Rather than feeling happy at the sight, Rohan felt his heart sink.

    ‘what···?’

Because there was nothing that could make Zion so happy.

In this heat, the exhausting battles continue. But since you look so happy, isn’t it natural to be worried?

Rohan stopped organizing his clothes and looked away.

Zion, who read those gazes, covered his mouth with his cloth as if he was embarrassed, which was rare.

    “···What a funny sight.”

    “Are you okay?”

“Don’t worry. It’s not that I’m crazy because it’s hot.”

    “Well, that’s fortunate···.”

Rohan moved his hands again, but his face looked uneasy.

When Zion saw that, the faint smile on his lips changed into a hollow laugh.

He opened up and revealed his true feelings without hiding anything.

“I just··· felt that it was quite enjoyable to spend time like this without being bound.”

Clara, who did not know the circumstances of Zion, showed an ambiguous reaction.

Rohan immediately understood why Zion was smiling.

    “Zion.”

    “Huh?”

“I’ll solve it as soon as possible.”

    “···.”

Expectations for Rohan’s performance in the dungeon have risen higher than ever.

That is why Zion was speechless. What should he say here?

    “Let’s go.”

However, Rohan seemed not to have any intention of hearing an answer and took the lead, holding his dagger.

Clara followed Rohan around with a puzzled expression on her face as they listened to each other’s conversation.

    ··

    ··

36 hours have passed since entering the dungeon.

The number of monsters that Rohan and his party had dealt with on their way here was too many to count on one hand.

Fortunately, none of the three were injured while dealing with so many monsters.

    But Rohan knows.

    ‘The problem starts here.’

After finishing the meal together, we took turns taking naps. We were in the best condition possible for this situation.

Just raise your head and look up.

The building they were aiming for appeared in the sights of Rohan’s party.

“Do you think you came to the right place?”

    “I see. It’s definitely different.”

    “Haaa···.”

If you look at the glass windows on the building, you can see that the inside is full of vines.

Unlike anything I’ve encountered so far, the vines have sharp, vicious thorns growing out of them.

“Rohan. Are you going to enter this building now?”

    “Oh. That’s right.”

“Then wouldn’t it be better for Clara and I to take turns leading from here on out?”

Clara nodded, biting her lips as if she had wanted to say something too.

    Rohan shook his head firmly.

“No. I’m the one who was professionally trained in dealing with monsters.”

    “Um···.”

“Although I lack skill, I am strong. It is right for me to take the lead and deal with it.”

Rohan spoke with the knowledge he had, but the two girls looked like they wanted to refute Rohan’s statement that he was strong.

But by now I know that Rohan will never give in.

“And we need to anticipate an attack from behind, not just the front. I’ll ask you to do that.”

    “···Okay.”

    Zion and Clara nod.

Rohan ended the conversation there and opened the shop.

[You purchased the lowest level stamina potion.]

[You have purchased the lowest level magic potion.]

The lowest level potions cost 100 points each. I bought 3 health potions and 3 magic potions.

The potion was about the size of a thumb. It was a good size to carry around.

Stamina potions contain a red, sloshing liquid, while magic potions contain a bluish liquid.

“Have one each. When you need to drink it, don’t hold back and drink it right away.”

    “Is this… a potion?”

Zion observed the object with eyes of wonder.

“That’s right. Don’t be stingy because you can get it again. Clara, you get it, right?”

    “Ugh, yeah···!”

Rohan didn’t think spending 600 points this time was a waste.

Even though clearing will lead to full recovery, you still need to be fully prepared for now.

Unlike Abyss City, you only have one life.

    “Then let’s go in?”

At Rohan’s voice, the two girls took their potions.

Then, I took up a stance so that I could deal with the monsters that came pouring in at any moment.

    “One···Two!”

──Koosh! Rohan’s kick blew the door of the building apart.

    The inside is revealed.
