Chapter Index

As the mutant races adapted to their bodies and learned how to use their powers, the incidents of inter-species crimes decreased significantly.

However, it was merely a decrease; inter-species crimes were still happening on a daily basis.

There was a slime who couldn’t control his anger in a restaurant scuffle and ended up melting his opponent’s clothes in retaliation, leading to his arrest.

An elf, enforcing vegetarianism on someone, got into a physical altercation and was subdued by the responding police.

A drunken dwarf causing a ruckus with alcohol was reported and taken to the police station.

While minor incidents were common, sporadic major events were also occurring.

One couldn’t let their guard down. It was unpredictable when, where, or how one might get involved in an incident.

Yet, long-lasting peace tended to make people complacent.

Living peaceful and happy lives, we honestly never even thought about inter-species crimes happening to us.

No, perhaps it was natural not to think about it.

Unless walking alone in dark alleyways, hadn’t we always been accompanied by at least one other person except for very rare occasions?

Even today, just like any other day, we were returning to our shared apartment together.

In a brief moment of distraction, a kidnapping occurred in the blink of an eye.

Just the fact that my friend who was next to me moments ago had disappeared left me dizzy, but witnessing what I saw upon arriving at the scene where screams led me to feel nauseous.

Jaehyuk, writhing in pain as the lamia clung to him, emitting agonizing moans.

And that same Jaehyuk, being eyed with affection by the lamia, attempting to feed on him.

I wasn’t curious at all about why the lamia was looking at Jaehyuk with such eyes.

    What mattered now was…

The fact that an unknown reptilian woman was touching something I had claimed as mine.

It was truly an intolerable situation for me.

How much humiliation and persecution had I endured from that creature until now?

If she felt like talking too much, I would shove chopsticks into her mouth to shut her up.

If something annoyed me, I would torment her by sprinkling things like glutinous rice, regular rice, or sesame seeds on her.

Occasionally, playing pranks by offering toothpicks instead of dental floss, laughing all the way through.

Continuing Jaehyuk’s tyranny, I had crawled under the blanket, vowing tearfully.

Someday, when the time came to overcome garlic, I would definitely sink my fangs into her neck.

Through bloodsucking, I would make her realize who held the upper hand.

Was it because I had been exposed to garlic all day, every day, for 24 hours?

While unaware of other weaknesses, my resistance to garlic was steadily strengthening.

    Exactly a month.

By the end of the semester, it seemed like I could sink my fangs into her neck.

When I discreetly sniffed her clothes, the disgust towards garlic was barely noticeable.

As the end of the semester approached, my anticipation grew.

Recalling the ecstatic taste I felt when I licked just one drop, I eagerly awaited the day of bloodsucking.

“Even if you grind and drink it, you reptilian lunatic…”

The mentally deranged woman, whose origin was unknown, was trying to suck Jaehyuk’s blood before me.

…After all the waiting and enduring, without any struggle, having my first blood meal stolen by a complete stranger?

    That couldn’t happen.

If nothing else, my first experience had to be mine.

If my first experience was helplessly taken away like this, I would be so unjustly treated that I wouldn’t be able to sleep properly for the rest of my life.

Anger bubbling up from deep within my heart.

Without even considering hiding it, I exuded liveliness and began to approach the lamia.

“Wait your turn, you damn b****. That first experience belongs to me.”

Growling in a threatening manner, as I approached, the lamia, who had been biting Jaehyuk’s neck, turned her head towards me.

As if gazing at an uninvited guest.

However, perhaps feeling quite threatened by my unpredictable appearance, the reptile hid behind Jaehyuk, wearing a seductive smile.

“Hehe, you say interesting things. Where’s the order in hunting? The one who hunts the prey first becomes the master, right?”

    “…”

I tried to resolve it through words if possible.

I really disliked getting involved in unnecessary trouble with the police by resorting to violence.

So even when the elf rushed at me in a frenzy, I didn’t wield violence and simply ran away, didn’t I?

    But.

“If words don’t work, trying to solve problems with words shouldn’t be attempted.”

With a friend held captive and unable to escape, facing an individual who saw humans as prey, a lunatic.

    I had only one option.

    “Someone said something like that.”

    Kwoong –

As I took a step forward with strength in my feet, the cheap sneakers burst open, causing cracks in the ground.

Attempting to fight seriously, Lamia began to cautiously assess the situation with a stiff expression.

Observing the bewildered face of the reptile, I calmly spoke.

“Violence isn’t the best way to solve problems, but it can become an effective method.”

    One step.

    Two steps.

As I approached Lamia, an unknown sensation spread throughout my body.

A feeling of blood boiling all over.

Feeling an increasing thirst, I proposed to Lamia with a gentle smile.

“If you want to suck, go ahead.”

    “…”

“But… that will be your last meal.”

Stopping right in front of her, arms crossed, I leisurely awaited her decision.

What kind of image did I present at this moment?

Probably not a normal or ordinary one.

Would I even be treated kindly or respectfully?

Exhaling a sigh of disappointment, I pressured the reptile in front of me for a decision.

“Decide quickly. Because of you, study time is slipping away, right?”

    Within arm’s reach.

Looking up at Lamia and speaking softly, she began to retreat slowly, loosening her grip.

    And then.

“You were a prey I’ve been eyeing for a long time… Ugh, next time…”

Expressing deep regret, she swiftly concealed herself from my sight.

Indeed, when dealing with a lunatic, becoming one yourself might not be such a wrong idea, right?

Igniting determination, the fading sensation of bloodlust.

Thinking that my body would soon return to normal, I approached Jaehyuk.

…But that’s where the problem arose.

    “Tasty, gulp…?”

Unlike the fading bloodlust and determination, the urge to feed remained inexplicably strong upon seeing Jaehyuk’s white neck.

It felt like a succulent steak appearing before a person who had been starving for three days.

Afraid that I might actually sink my fangs in, I tightly shut my eyes for the time being.

    “Lamia… This useless woman, really…”

Seemingly squeezing Jaehyuk quite strongly, his condition wasn’t looking good.

No matter how thirsty, it wouldn’t be right to leave fang marks on a suffering individual’s neck, would it?

    However, regardless of my thoughts.

    “Chup, haa… gulp, huuu…”

…My body was excessively honest in its desire.

    Sniff.

    Sniff sniff.

    Sniff sniff sniff.

The scent, not repulsive no matter how much I sniffed.

I distinctly remember confirming eating garlic yesterday, so why isn’t the typical disgusting smell of garlic present?

Could it be… that there’s no pain akin to inserting hot coals into my stomach even after sucking blood now?

With a gaze mixed with curiosity and desire, I looked down, and Jaehyuk slowly opened his eyes, groaning.

Suppressing the surging bloodsucking impulse, I cautiously inquired about his well-being.

“Is your body okay? It felt like Lamia was applying quite a bit of pressure.”

“Ugh… I don’t think there are any broken bones for now. But… cough, it’s really painful, feels like my organs are getting squished.”

Leaning against the nearby wall, Jaehyuk grimaced and regulated his breathing.

Perhaps realizing he had received help, he let out a deep sigh and expressed gratitude to me.

“…Thanks for saving me. I almost got into big trouble.”

“That’s why I always told you to be careful. You never know what might happen.”

“Sigh, yeah. This time, it seems like you were right. Is this what they mean by fixing the barn after losing the cow?”

“Not quite, we didn’t lose the cow.”

    “True.”

He chuckled softly, stretching his body lazily.

Watching his vulnerable state, I couldn’t resist the urge to suppress my bloodsucking impulse any longer.

    Snick –

    Unconsciously, saliva began to flow.

What should I do? If I politely ask if I can bite, will he allow it?

As I hesitated, unsure of what to do, Jaehyuk let out a long sigh and stood up, seeming frustrated.

“Why hesitate so much when you could just ask me to suck some blood? Here, ready for a little sucking? I don’t want to die from lack of blood, you know.”

    “Are you sure about this?”

“Am I the one saying it? I had garlic for lunch, will that be okay?”

“I don’t know, guess we’ll find out once you start sucking.”

If I just lick a bit and it’s the same as last time, I can stop the bloodsucking immediately, right?

With permission granted, I mercilessly sank my fangs into his forearm.

    Pierce!

    “Ack…!”

Sharp fangs tearing through tender flesh.

From the resulting wound, a taste of blood that could only be described as ecstatic began to flow profusely.

    “Ah, ah… ♡”

Within the ecstasy, a tingling pain due to the inadequate garlic tolerance.

However, the pain heightened the sensitivity of my tongue, enhancing the deep flavor.

    “…Delicious.”

I wanted to savor this blissful moment a bit longer.

But didn’t they say you faint if you experience too much pleasure at once?

The languid and distant sensation spreading from the mouth throughout the body.

    “Heh, hehe…”

Without even attempting to regain my senses, I collapsed on the floor.

My vision slowly fading to black.

Looking at Jaehyuk running towards me while calling my name, I thought,

…I’ve lost everything I’ve lived as a vampire until now.
