Chapter Index

After finishing the morning classes and heading straight to the hospital, Lager suddenly remembered one thing and sighed.

    “Oh right, food!

I should have mentioned that I would eat separately before coming here, but I was too flustered to even think about eating.

Just like breakfast, the thought of chewing on that bland hospital food made his appetite disappear.

He seriously considered calling now to explain, but decided against it. It was too late to mention it now, and even if it was accepted, it would be a bother to the people preparing the meals.

Just this once, he decided to endure.

    However.

    “Today’s lunch is pasta.”

As Dakota opened the door to the room, she greeted Lager with a smile, extending her only arm.

On the bedside table, there were two plates of steaming pasta with kimchi.

“I didn’t know your preferences, so I asked for the most basic tomato pasta. Do you have any allergies?”

    “No, it’s not that…”

As Lager seemed to question the logic of the situation, Dakota smiled gently.

“It’s a privilege of being the head nurse. Once a week out of the 21 meals during hospitalization, you can request a menu of your choice to eat.”

Listening to her explanation, Lager remembered.

And the reason for this setup was also to create an event between the main heroine Dakota and the protagonist Lager in the novel.

    It dawned on him.

In the end, he couldn’t help but laugh at the thought that this setup was used as intended.

    “Do you not like it?”

As Dakota interpreted his laughter as displeasure, she asked with a worried tone.

Lager didn’t particularly dislike the situation.

At least he didn’t have to eat tasteless hospital food.

    “No, I’ll enjoy it.”

So he said and sat in front of her. He picked up the pasta plate, stabbed it with a fork, rolled it on the spoon, and took a bite.

But this time, Dakota was just watching silently.

    “Oh.”

It was only then that Lager noticed that there were a spoon and fork in front of Dakota as well.

Naturally, Dakota realized belatedly that she couldn’t use the spoon and fork at the same time.

“So… do I have to feed you?”

    Dakota chuckled and nodded.

This wasn’t going well. Lager didn’t feel like taking Dakota’s spoon and fork, but she had shown him kindness earlier. Moreover, this kindness was a rare chance that could only be used once a week during mealtime.

So it was only right to offer something in return from his side.

Lager hesitated for a moment, but in the end, he picked up her spoon and fork.

Dakota’s face lit up as she watched Lager put the spoon in the pasta plate and expertly roll it with the fork. Just the thought of it going into her mouth soon made her struggle to contain her laughter.

“I didn’t show it, but I felt good when Ail cut the tonkatsu for me.”

Lager slowly lifted the spoon towards Dakota’s mouth. Dakota closed her eyes and eagerly opened her cute mouth like a baby bird, waiting for Lager’s spoon.

And when Lager finally fed her the spoonful.

    “Mmm, delicious!”

She squealed with delight, trembling with excitement like an ordinary girl.

    “Is it really that good?”

“It tastes even better when Godin feeds me.”

    “Don’t say unnecessary things.”

Despite Lager’s blunt reply, Dakota happily shrugged her shoulders, saying, “Yes, yes.”

“Godingun fed me pasta, and it feels like I’ve found the value of facing today.”

    “What are you talking about?”

    “It means he likes you.”

It was an affectionate expression so proactive that it made one doubt if the tail effect was still ongoing.

Am I going to have to endure these confessions attacks in the future as well?

Without a chance to feel dizzy, Dakota opened her mouth again.

    “More, please. Ah~”

Feeling like she was being drawn in by her face, Lager put down her spoon and fork and spat out with a rough expression.

“That’s enough now. Eat by yourself.”

“How can I eat pasta alone?”

“Just bring the fork close to your mouth. Even if it’s messy, you can still eat.”

    “That’s mean.”

Although her words hurt deeply, Dakota countered with bad thoughts.

“I told you. I won’t do more than a caregiver should. I won’t help with things you can do on your own.”

For a moment, a disappointed look crossed Dakota’s face, but she soon smiled and picked up her fork.

“Okay. I’ll be satisfied with this for today.”

And then Dakota started eating by poking the pasta with her fork. She was nervous that the sauce might get on her messy lilac hair, as it would be much more troublesome if it got stained.

    “Wait, wait!”

    “Yes?”

“I’ll tie your hair. It’ll get all messy.”

It was a sincere gesture to avoid creating more trouble.

“You’re thinking of me that much.”

    “No.”

    “It’s touching.”

    “I said no.”

Despite Lager’s active denial, Dakota’s smile had already caught her ear.

Maybe I should have just left it alone. Lager quietly regretted as she got up and picked up a hair tie from the bedside table.

Dakota cleared her throat and turned her back to Lager.

She pulled the hair down twice, tidied it up, and tied it around the nape of her neck.

As she brought the rubber band to the nape of her neck, Dakota flinched and made an awkward sound when Lager’s hand touched her shoulder.

    “It’s cold…”

Lager just sighed deeply at Dakota’s subtle excuses and didn’t respond.

Carefully arranging the stray strands of hair and tying them with the rubber band, Dakota asked curiously.

“You must have tied Chloe’s hair often.”

Lager hesitated for a moment at Dakota’s words.

    “Why all of a sudden?”

“No, it’s just that your touch in tying hair is delicate for a man. Or maybe you’re just naturally good with your hands?”

She thought about saying that her hair tying skills were good, but decided against it. She didn’t have the confidence to back it up.

After tying her hair, they both focused on their meal in silence for a while. The pasta was slightly burnt, but it didn’t affect the taste much.

After finishing the meal and bringing the plates to the cart, the nurse, who had been fiddling with her phone, put it in her pocket with a stern expression.

“Was it wrong to come early?”

It seemed like she was serious about avoiding slacking off. With a guilty feeling towards the nurse, Lager turned towards the ward.

    The phone rang.

Lager answered the call warmly without bothering to check the caller.

    “Oh, what’s up?”

“Hey. I’m going out this weekend, wanna come along?”

It was Ail. And it was a very welcome offer. It was a bit surprising why he suddenly suggested it, but it was fine.

At least it was a legal way to get out of the caregiver role for a day!

    “Sure. Saturday or Sunday?”

    “Saturday.”

    “But why suddenly going out?”

“To buy a tablet. It doesn’t matter anyway since I haven’t used it once in the past month, right?”

“That’s true. Anyway, I’ll go too.”

“Okay. Then shall we apply knowing that?”

Aeil hung up the phone first.

Suddenly, Laguer’s mood improved. He entered the hospital room with a big smile.

However, Dakota, who he met in the hospital room, was also smiling.

But his smile was a bit different from Laguer’s cheerful smile.

His eyes were not smiling at all.

“You look happy. What’s going on?”

A woman as sharp as you…

    Laguer bit his lip.
