episode_0054
by fnovelpiaThe operation proceeded smoothly.
The Pope began selling random indulgences through a lottery system,
and the Indulgence Exchange officially opened.
They even disclosed the probabilities for all types of indulgences, including S-rank ones.
‘Obviously a scam.’
The other probabilities seemed normal,
but the 0.1% chance for an S-rank indulgence was 100% bullshit.
…or so I thought as I watched.
‘The atmosphere’s not bad.’
Even in the game, there wasn’t much resistance to the sale of indulgences.
Well, it wasn’t a direct sale—
it had been twisted into a random lottery system, but
the overall situation was the same as in the game…
“10 random indulgences!”
“Give me 20!”
“I’ll take 30!!!”
…or so I thought,
but instead, a hellscape of lunatics raving over the lottery unfolded.
‘Even better.’
The more they sold, the greater the profit.
And the more victims there were of the indulgence lottery scam,
the greater the outrage would be when the rigged probabilities were exposed.
Then, even the Pope wouldn’t be able to handle it.
…or so I thought,
but just because a lot of people were angry didn’t mean they could overthrow the Pope.
Ten thousand commoners rising up in rebellion?
In a world without magic, that might have been a threatening force.
But.
In a world with magic, it was nothing.
A single C-rank knight could easily mow down 100 to 200 F- or E-rank commoners.
One B-rank knight captain.
Twenty C-rank knights.
With just that much military power, slaughtering ten thousand people wouldn’t even be difficult.
So.
No matter how many angry commoners gathered, they’d be useless.
‘That’s why I raised the price.’
I set it so that commoners couldn’t buy indulgences at all—
only nobles and wealthy merchants could afford them.
This way, commoners wouldn’t suffer from the indulgence scandal,
while nobles and rich merchants would take the hit and pressure the Pope.
…or so I had calculated, but—
“Aaaaahhh!!!”
“Yeeeeeesss!!!”
Already, some were screaming in despair, while others were shrieking in joy.
Things were progressing even better than I’d expected, and I felt pretty good about it.
‘Nice.’
‘I should prepare too.’
Buying indulgences in bulk and exposing the probabilities.
Easier said than done—
executing this would require an insane amount of funds.
So.
I needed to earn more.
‘Probably just need to hunt a few hidden bosses nearby.’
…or so I thought as I turned to leave, but—
“You’re back?”
“Master!”
“I saved up a ton of money!”
“With this much, we can drive out the Pope, right?”
What the—?
Why was there a mountain of gold coins piled up?
What the hell?
Three hours earlier.
The hero party (excluding Kain) had a brief discussion.
“To drive out the Pope for sure, we need more money.”
“How much more?”
“To definitively prove the 0.1% is a lie, we’d need at least two to three times what we have now.”
The current funds were substantial,
but not enough to guarantee the operation’s success.
Still.
It wasn’t something to worry too much about.
After all, they had a reliable man who could earn as much gold as needed.
“Then there’s no need to hesitate.”
“No.”
“This is the time to gather even more gold and prove our worth.”
“Our worth?”
“Remember how we agreed not to interfere with Kain’s first experience with the person he wants?”
“Yeah.”
“Yes.”
Both Ria and Sophia nodded.
They didn’t know who he liked,
but he had risked his life—even died—researching to save her.
(Info: He just died from playing too many games.)
So.
They had no intention of interfering with Kain’s dream.
He had suffered enough to die for it,
and even after death, he possessed someone and kept striving.
They would help him save her,
become her lover,
and spend their first night together.
But.
What if the person he wanted to spend that night with changed?
‘If Kain insists on being with her till the end…’
‘We’ll help, but…’
What if.
Kain’s feelings changed and he wanted to spend that night with one of them?
Then they’d quietly strip and get to work in bed.
“That lewd thing?”
“Uh…”
“Y-yeah?…”
“The thing that makes you feel good?”
“Y-yeah?…”
“Doing something that feels good with Master… I wanna try it…”
“Me too.”
“I heard it’s the greatest joy a woman can experience.”
“That much?”
“Yes.”
“Since it’s from the Goddess of Love, it must be accurate.”
“Wow…”
Ria said while looking at Goddess Serena.
“Mom, how was it for you?”
“I’ve never done it, so I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?”
“I heard you have to have sex to have a child?”
“My case was special.”
“But… I’ve heard it feels incredibly good with someone you love.”
“Feels good with someone you love…”
“If it’s with Master, would it feel amazing?…”
Ria grinned brightly as she spoke.
“Mom, wanna do it together?”
“Me too?”
“If we do something fun together, it’ll be even more fun, right?”
“Is that so?”
“H-huh?…”
“Let’s do it together later!”
“Should we?”
“N-no…”
“Doing that together is a bit…”
“Why?”
“Can’t we?”
Both Ria and Goddess Serena spoke with innocent expressions, but—
Uh…
How was I supposed to explain this?
I didn’t even know myself!
I’d only read about men and women doing that in books—I had no real experience!
Still.
I could tell it was weird for a mother and daughter to do it together.
…or so I thought,
but stopping the Goddess of Light, Serena, from doing it was also weird.
‘The Goddess has never done it either…’
‘It’s not strange for her to be curious…’
Though she had a daughter,
she had no husband, no boyfriend, and was a virgin goddess who’d never been with a man.
In a way, she was even purer than Ria.
So I didn’t know what to say.
‘I can’t just tell her not to…’
‘But encouraging it is awkward too…’
Ugh.
No idea.
Kain would handle this.
He was the type to clearly say yes or no.
So I left the judgment to him.
“These things require mutual consent.”
“If Kain allows it, it should be fine.”
“Mom, you hear that?”
“Doing something fun with my daughter… Being in a human body makes me want to try more things.”
“Hehe…”
“My dear daughter~”
“Let’s be happy together~”
“Yes~”
Their pure, blissful expressions left me speechless, but—
Well…
It’d work out somehow.
So.
Back to the original topic.
“Anyway, the important thing is this.”
“Proving that we’re capable women.”
Seduction was important,
but proving they were reliable allies was just as crucial.
‘The most annoying heroines in novels were the useless ones.’
Those who did nothing but cling to the male lead,
whining for him to do this or that.
Even the protagonist found them annoying,
and as a reader, I hated those characters too.
So.
I’d never be a nuisance heroine, no matter what.
I wanted to be a dependable ally, supporting him in tough times.
…As I said this,
the others nodded in agreement.
“We’ve only been receiving help.”
“I want to help Master too.”
“My daughter wants to help, and she’s also his friend.”
“If we can help, we should.”
“Helping my husband is a wife’s duty.”
“I agree.”
So they split into teams.
A team to gather gold.
A team to protect Kain.
‘Kain said it was safe in the holy land and insisted on going alone, but…’
There could still be danger,
so having at least one guard stay behind was best.
“Sophia.”
“I’ll leave his protection to you.”
“Yes.”
Saint Sophia.
In terms of pure defensive ability, she was among the best of the hero candidates.
She could cast barriers,
and as long as someone wasn’t dead, she could heal them.
‘Her combat skills aren’t bad either.’
Without the Blood Stone, she was just a healer limited to recovery and support magic,
but with it, she could charge into battle like a berserker.
Increasing vitality meant
boosting HP, strength, agility, and all physical abilities.
Even at just 5% Blood Stone release, she could defeat most foes.
Not just from stat boosts—
her overflowing divine energy could enhance her body.
In raw strength, she might even surpass me.
‘The only issue is her complete lack of real combat experience…’
But as long as she cast barriers on Kain
and went wild with her enhanced body, she could handle most threats.
That was enough.
So.
Me, Ria, and Goddess Serena would be the gold-gathering team.
“Where are we going?”
“The demon realm.”
A region teeming with strong monsters.
Just hunting there would net plenty of gold.
“How are we getting there?”
“We’re flying.”
During idle moments, I’d asked Kain about his world and learned a few things—
including about airplanes.
“Airplane?”
“Yeah.”
“If we combine our powers, we can make one.”
An ice-framed aircraft body,
propelled by magic.
…or so I said,
but it was closer to a missile than a plane.
No safety features—
just a simple flying object designed for speed and distance.
“Let’s go.”
“Okay!”
Kain called her a crybaby,
but Ria, oddly brave, answered lightly and boarded the “airplane” (?)
SWOOOOOOSH!!!
And so, the two of us flew to the demon realm on an ice plane.
“Whaaaaaa—?!”
“Aaaaaah!!!”
The speed was so intense we could barely scream, but—
KABOOOOOOOM!!!
With no landing system, we crashed straight into the ground, obliterating the entire forest.
“Wow…”
“That was thrilling.”
“Let’s do it again later!”
We managed to escape before impact and landed safely.
It could’ve been fatal if we hadn’t,
but we survived, so all good!
‘And it was fun!’
…or so I thought as we entered the demon realm.
“Now, let’s hunt—”
“Looks like it’s already over?”
“Huh?”
Scattered around were piles of gold pouches.
“Guess they all died from the plane crash.”
“Seems so.”
“Great!”
“Let’s grab the gold and head ba—… Huh?”
“Ugh…”
Amid the monster corpses was one half-dead person.
What’s that?
