In the case of rhythm games, they were inspired by the MPCs used by DJs. If you don’t know what that is, it would be easier to think of it as a launchpad.

I wasn’t really involved in the brainstorming process, so it’s really amazing how this came out. Of course, once the concept was decided, I decided to just make O-beat.

This one is practically done, so all that’s left is to make a few more songs. The name has been decided as Lunch Beat.

There are quite a few types of rhythm games, so it would be worthwhile to hold a competition. With rhythm games taking North America by storm, if rhythm game experts from all over the country gather, it’s guaranteed to be a hit.

3D experiments are literally experiments. In Doom, we are adding a rough y-axis and actively creating interactions with objects, but the results are less than expected.

The technical part required more than I thought. Since most of them are new developers, there is an endless loop of trial and error.

Adding the y-axis required rewriting the Doom engine from scratch. In fact, it’s almost like a different engine. I guess I can skip over the effort that went into it.

In the case of objects, there were a lot of really crappy things. For example, if you stand on an object and lift it? Wow! The player flies through the sky!

Every so often, the object’s momentum calculation would go wild, and when testing joint functions, a Getdan reminiscent of Mr. Mo’s Muscle would pop up. Every time I saw it, I would get a headache and turn on another game, so that was my daily routine.

The only areas that have improved are changing the viewpoint and 3D modeling.

You can even raise your view up! At first, I made it so that you could only turn your view left and right like the original Doom, just for the sake of being historically accurate, but I couldn’t even think about turning your view up and down, so it took quite a while just to induce this.

3D modeling has created a primitive Blender. It is difficult to use excessive polygons due to the limitations of graphic performance…

Ah. The more I think about it, the angrier I get.

It’s already been 99 years since they released a sequel to Strikers and a polished version of Puuuu Tetris, and yet computer performance shows no signs of improving!

Since it’s come to this, I have no choice but to run it myself…
