Chapter Index

After talking for a long time about Helena and Amelia’s story, I became quite close to them. Perhaps for the future, Helena still speaks to me with formal language.

Could it be that she’s really becoming my daughter…? Sometimes Helena can be a bit intimidating.

Today, we were discussing matters related to Helena’s family.

Helena explained the current situation to me. It seemed that there were many disturbances since I took the position of the head of the family.

On one hand, the elders who disliked Helena seem to be pleased with me being in the head position, but they are unhappy that I didn’t kill Helena.

On the other hand, it seems that those who dislike the fact that I, a commoner, am now the head of the Estelle family.

In short, it seems that no one really likes me.

“So, that inspiration guy was after you?”

“Yeah, I wanted to kill him on the spot, but I held back.”

“Good job, it would only cause more trouble if you had killed him now.”

The other day, an old elder suddenly came and questioned why I hadn’t killed Helena and Ian, and I almost killed him on the spot.

I feel like going to annoy the elders who are irritating me right now and kill them all. But doing so would cause too many problems, so I’m holding back.

If I were to kill them all, Amelia would be greatly disappointed. I want to remain a good child as much as possible, so I’m behaving myself.

“So, how are things in other countries these days?”

“It’s still the worst, there could be a war at any moment.”

Helena sighed and shook her head.

    “It’s the worst…”

As we were talking, a sudden loud noise shook the main house.

    *Boom!*

The cups we were drinking from fell over, and the items in the lounge fell to the ground.

    Helena and I locked eyes.

With this level of noise and impact, it wasn’t a normal explosion. It was clearly a magical explosion.

We quickly left the head’s room.

    “Ah!”

The scene outside the head’s room was chaotic.

Due to the explosion, we couldn’t see clearly through the smoke, and all the guards were lying on the ground, possibly knocked out by the explosion.

Helena and I quickly checked on the guards.

    *Thump thump.*

Heartbeats could be felt through our fingertips.

Fortunately, they weren’t dead. They were just unconscious due to the shock.

    “Amelia! Amelia!”

A faint voice of a child could be heard in the distance.

Despite the screams of the surrounding users due to the explosion, the name “Amelia” was clearly heard.

Whether Helena heard it or not, she ran towards where Amelia’s name was being called.

The small and cute voice was clearly that of Ea, Amelia’s maid. Please, let nothing bad have happened…!

When Helena and I arrived at the source of the voice, I almost lost my strength in my legs.

This was the place where the explosion had occurred. Everything around was destroyed, and the lingering heat was enough to make one squint.

There were still embers, debris from the explosion, and even glass shards, making it a very dangerous situation.

In that place, Ea was crying and shaking an unconscious woman.

As if to prove that she was blonde before the explosion, her golden hair was visible in the unburned areas, along with her large chest and tall figure.

    That woman was Amelia.

Helena and I quickly approached Amelia.

“L-Lady, H-Helena, A-Amelia can’t, can’t get up, she, she can’t open her, her eyes, please, help, help her.”

Ea noticed us and grabbed us, pointing towards Amelia.

Ea, covered in dust, had visible wounds and blood, but fortunately, she didn’t seem to have any major injuries.

Due to the shock of the explosion, Amelia seemed to be out of it, but she didn’t seem to have any problems recovering.

From the situation, it seems that Amelia was protecting Eia when the explosion occurred.

    The problem lies with Amelia.

Helena and I checked on Amelia’s condition.

The front seemed fine, but as Helena carefully checked Amelia’s back, she gasped.

    “Ah…!”

Amelia’s back was a sight of horror. It was indescribably gruesome due to the explosion.

Her smooth, white back was torn apart by the explosion, and the clothes she was wearing melted and stuck to her back due to the heat from the explosion.

There were even fragments scattered here and there.

Seeing that sight, I felt something inside me snap.

It was a dire situation. Helena quickly carried Amelia to the medical room.

I lifted Eia, who had fainted upon seeing Amelia’s condition.

    Thankfully, Amelia’s life was saved.

She is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit, still unconscious.

Eia is lying next to Amelia. Although her physical wounds have healed, she has not regained consciousness, possibly due to the mental shock.

Helena and I were watching over them.

The quiet room was filled only with the sound of medical equipment.

I let go of Amelia’s hand and stood up.

    “Lily?”

“I’ll take care of Amelia and Eia.”

“Alright… I’ll ask as quietly as possible.”

It seems Helena understood what I was about to do.

    “Yeah.”

As I walked towards the explosion site, I pondered.

I had given Amelia a protective spell, and also a brooch with a protective spell for Helena.

Despite these two protective spells, Amelia still suffered severe injuries. It was a powerful explosion spell, at least an advanced level magic.

Arriving at the center of the explosion site, I gathered mana.

    “[Memorize]”

Memorize is a magic spell that reads memories by tracing the remaining mana in the surroundings.

It is not an ordinary magic, but a dragon’s magic, a dragon spell. It was difficult to use, but I didn’t mind for Amelia’s sake.

All the mana in my body began to convert, and the remaining mana in the surroundings started to gather.

Memories quickly flooded into my mind.

Scenes of Amelia and Eia meeting. Eia handing something to Amelia. A magic circle appearing on the object and exploding.

    Vivid memories.

    ‘This magic…’

The magic circle on the object Eia brought. Multiple circles overlapping with a central equilateral triangle.

It was the advanced magic [Explosion].

This magic was not just a simple explosion spell, but a spell designed to kill ordinary people.

It increased the killing power for targeting unarmed civilians by expanding the range and power of the explosion.

In other words, if there were no protective spells, Amelia and Eia would have died for sure.

This terrorist attack was an assassination attempt targeting only Amelia, and using Eia as a tool.

Realizing that, I began to trace the remaining mana of [Explosion] to restore memories and identify the person who delivered the bomb.

It turned out to be the old deity’s maid who had visited me before.

[Explosion] magic, although useless for mana awakened individuals, was very lethal and difficult to cast. Moreover, it was not just cast, but enchanted and stored in a box.

In other words, it was not something an ordinary maid could obtain. It was clear that the deity behind this maid was responsible.

The old deity who had questioned me about why I hadn’t killed Helena.

    I kill. I kill. I kill. I kill. I kill. I kill. I kill. I kill. I kill. I kill. I kill. I kill. I kill. I kill. I kill. I kill.

There’s no need to endure any longer. I’ll finish everything before Amelia comes to her senses. I’ll make it seem like nothing ever happened.

I decided to handle everything so neatly that Amelia wouldn’t even need to know.

Entering the bedroom where there were many traces of me and Amelia, instead of going to the bed as usual, I went into the bathroom.

    -Click.

Feeling along one wall, I pressed a hidden button inside the dressing room, and a space opened up as one side of the dressing room wall slid open.

Inside was a space where Amelia’s belongings, such as her underwear and toothbrush, were gathered.

Ea had collected Amelia’s belongings here instead of mine.

As the space opened up, Amelia’s scent wafted out. And in the center, there was a mask that looked like a half-face respirator.

It was a mask made with the same scent storage magic as the necklace that stored Amelia’s scent.

I know. My mind is still unstable. If I stay away from Amelia for too long or don’t smell her scent for a long time, I can’t maintain my sanity.

That’s why I made that mask for the times when I’m away from Amelia for a long time.

A mask enchanted with magic to store scents like a necklace.

I picked it up and quickly covered my nose and mouth with it to prevent the scent from escaping.

And then I breathed in deeply.

    “Snnn…”

    Inhaling deeply.

    “Snnn…”

    Exhaling.

When I closed my eyes, the vivid scent passed through my nose and invaded my brain as if Amelia was deliberately resting her head on my lap and breathing while I was breathing.

A sensation as if my whole body was glued to Amelia.

Enjoying the lingering scent, when I opened my eyes, the mirror in front of me reflected my appearance.

My mana was not intact, it was overflowing. It was so much that it seemed like smoke was coming out of my body.

The mana-made ribbon and dress were swaying like liquid as mana overflowed.

The current appearance was like looking at my past self.

Feeling like I might kill everything around me in this state, I briefly regained my composure and activated the spatial teleportation magic.

Since I had attached my mana to all the spirits at the Gaju appointment ceremony, without hesitation, I disappeared into the shadows.
