Chapter Index

Both the goods production and the book production are being produced without a hitch, so all I have to worry about now is creating the work.

‘As expected, this is the only children’s book of this time.’

Actually, there was an incident that shocked me greatly when I came to this world.

This was an incident in which young children came in droves and begged to hire them when they were expanding the workforce at the goods factory and bookbinding shop.

It was said that most of the children came because they had no way to make a living, and it was hard to believe that our territory was relatively small.

As was the case on Earth as well, the war resulted in numerous tragedies, and the most heartbreaking of them were the orphans.

From children who lost their parents due to war damage to parents who abandon their children because their families are so poor.

In this world, the first to be abandoned were children.

So, when I had some free time, I insisted on building not only a church but also an orphanage within the territory to take care of these children.

The children’s books that made me prosper, and what the writers of those children’s books wanted was for the happiness of children.

It seemed like that wasn’t enough.

So this time I decided to draw something a little stronger.

A work that can sound an alarm in people’s hearts.

‘The season is winter, so it’s perfect.’

The work I drew this time was ‘The Dog of Flanders.’

Of all the children’s books I remember reading, this is one of the saddest.

“I guess I won’t be able to make a custom version this time.”

I had given up on making custom copies of comic books because it was too much work, so I couldn’t even think of making custom copies of children’s books anymore.

Therefore, this time I decided to use a unified character and was thinking about who to use as a model this time.

    ‘Who should I use?’

Until now, most of the main characters in children’s books have been women, but this work has a boy as the main character, so I couldn’t think of an appropriate model.

If it’s a girl, it would be perfect to draw her younger sister, Ada, as a model.

First of all, it was not easy to come up with the main character, so I started working on other things, such as a grandfather character or a dog character.

At the same time, I had to work on the second volume of , and I was really excited to draw this.

From the brilliant appearance of the Flame Alchemist, one of the main characters in the plot, to the scene where the main enemies of the work, the androids, appear.

Moreover, although it does not appear in Volume 2, ‘that episode’, which is sure to shock everyone, was scheduled to begin.

I was so nervous while writing the storyboard.

‘Well, I guess I can’t possibly model this after a real person.’

Ada is a child of a similar age to the character who will play a key role in the progression of ‘that episode’, but that is not even a consideration in the first place.

If I use a real person, not just Ada, as a model, the model’s father might come to kill me.

Therefore, this time, I decided to simply use the original model with a slight modification, and the character of the alchemist who creates the chimera was modeled after the face of one of the empire’s most wanted criminals.

The reason I did this was because the impact of my comic book was greater than I thought.

Even in Korea, it is said that actors who appear as villains in morning dramas get scolded or slapped on the back even while eating at a restaurant. This is especially true here.

“That’s right, because now there’s coffee too.”

I was alternating between working on a children’s book and a comic book, and when I drank the vitality potion as usual, coffee suddenly came to mind.

Basically, buffs need to overlap to be effective.

I immediately asked Alain for coffee.

Alain brought me the iced Americano I ordered with a very uncomfortable look on his face, and I drank it down in one go.

“Wow, this is a new world?”

Even as someone who has tried all kinds of caffeine and nutritional supplements in Korea, the combination of vitality potion and coffee was something that impressed me.

However, even this amazing doping has a time limit.

It takes about 3 hours for the side effects of the vitality potion that my body remembers to appear.

So, I sent a servant to ‘Manuel’, a monk at our local church, and asked him to visit me in three hours.

‘When the side effects are over, a single heal from the monk will restore it to its original state. It’s a perfect plan.’

If I repeated this about twice, I was able to work without sleeping a wink a day.

Of course, I couldn’t be the only one using this good method, so I tried recommending it to the craftsmen I work with, but I had no choice but to back down because they started a competition by lifting tools.

I wonder if there is anything more fun than making books, and everyone wants to take a break.

Fortunately, one of the newly hired employees named ‘Jensen’ followed my approach.

There’s something about his expression that makes him scared. He was an excellent employee who always stepped up first when I asked him to do something.

This is why large companies check specifications.

I really liked the conditions of not having a lover, having a bad relationship with my family, and being far away from my hometown.

Other people disparaged him, saying he was just a jerk, but I saw his potential.

And my eyes were sharp when I saw that he had become such a sincere employee.

In the future, when hiring employees, I will make sure to select people who meet those conditions.

“Thank you, there is no need to come here to meet me.”

“No, Yustaf. Of course it is something that should be done.”

Goldful Valley Magic Tower has been in an uproar recently.

It was because of the news that Yustaf Heindel, the owner of the Magic Tower and currently the principal of the Imperial Academy, was visiting.

The Goldful Valley region used to be famous for producing gold dust, but currently, it is a region with no special features as it does not produce gold dust.

I didn’t know why I would come to a place like this out of the blue, but I couldn’t neglect my preparations.

And finally, Yustav Heindel appeared through the Magic Tower’s transmission line.

Next to him was a red-haired girl.

“Ah, this is my new disciple, ‘Xenia Heindel.’”

“I don’t know Eustaf’s disciple. My name is ‘Endor’, the branch leader of the Goldful Valley Mage Tower.”

Endor, who had been staring at me without realizing it because he had red hair, hastily introduced himself.

All of Yustaf’s disciples were magicians who made a name for themselves throughout the empire, and it was clear that this girl would become one in the future, so there was no need to worry about showing off well.

    “… Hello.”

Seeing Xenia hiding behind Yustav and answering in a very quiet voice, Endor wondered if he had made a mistake or if he had looked too intently earlier.

“Hmm… The reason I came here is because I have some business to go to the Earl of Somerset. Could you please appoint someone to show me the way?”

“Are you the Earl of Somerset? Then, how about riding in our carriage together?”

    “Warrior?”

“Yes, I had already ordered a printing press from Somerset Street and had it delivered.”

At Endor’s words, Yustav thought it would be better, so they drank tea and talked in the branch manager’s office until the carriage left.

Of course, Xenia just quietly ate the snacks while hiding behind Yustav while he was talking.

‘Justaf Heindel? ‘Why on earth did that guy come here?’

No matter how hard Rupert racked his brain, he couldn’t find the connection.

So far, I’ve met many of the characters from the original novel, but there was a good reason for all of them.

However, in this case, no matter how hard Rupert tried to think about it, he was very embarrassed because someone he had no connection with came to see him.

Of course, if the opponent is the archmage Yustaf, who has the title of ‘Human Dragon’, he can’t help but be embarrassed.

In the original novel, he appears as the principal of the academy where the main characters live, and is a person who saves them with overwhelming magic at every moment of crisis.

The question is, why on earth did a human cheater visit our family?

“Hehe, I don’t know if this old man suddenly visited and caused trouble.”

“No, I really wanted to meet you because I have heard of your high reputation before.”

Although he was thinking on the inside that he wanted them to get out of the way right away, Rupert’s words on the outside were nothing short of polite.

Of course, since Yustaf is the second son of Viscount Heindel, he can be said to be lower than Rupert.

No one in the empire treats Yustav as a viscount noble.

Isn’t there probably no one other than the imperial family who can treat him poorly?

Even Duke Bluewell, the highest nobleman in the empire, would at least treat Yustaf as equal.

Rupert, who hides his true feelings, acts polite on the outside and treats people politely, but someone keeps coming in and out of his line of sight.

“By the way, wouldn’t it be rude if I asked who that person is?”

“Ah, I was late in my introduction. This child is called Xenia, my student.”

Xenia carefully nods her head at Yustav’s introduction.

Rupert looked at Xenia and became slightly lost in thought.

First of all, starting with the characteristic red hair, I feel like I have heard the name Xenia before.

However, just when it would have been rude to look any further, Yustav continued the conversation.

“You’re probably curious as to why I came here so suddenly, so I’ll get to the point now.”

    “Yes, please say so.”

“Where on earth did I see that Yeon Seong-jin from your comic book, Iron Blooded Alchemist?”

    “Yes?”

    ***

Yustav quietly observed Rupert, who was acting like a fool, saying that he was just drawing from the book.

    Especially dark eye shadow

A body that looks particularly thin

It almost looks like it’s under a curse.

Moreover, what is the name of the wound near the neck that looks as if someone had bitten it?

Yustav thought Rupert was hiding something.

Yeon Seong-jin from , which I happened to see, was completely different from the existing Yeon Seong-jin.

Perhaps even alchemists do not know exactly what it is.

Unless you were well-versed in both magic and alchemy, it would have been difficult to notice.

This was clearly a new type of Yeonseongjin that combined runes and Yeonseongjin.

You may be surprised to discover it for the first time, and you may be able to sense the meaning of Yeon Seong-jin as you even carried out the research with one mind.

The links are intentionally misaligned here and there, so it wouldn’t be effective if you just traced them, but it’s an elaborate Yeonseongjin that was designed to fit properly just like the second hand of a clock, if you turn it slightly in a circle.

Could it be that the author intentionally made it wrong? I thought:

    That’s right too

‘The material for this Yeonseongjin is difficult to be effective unless it is blood extracted from a living creature.’

It is a complex technique that makes it difficult to tell whether this should be called a soft circle or a magic circle.

However, while ordinary elastomers were constructed using metal powder or powder made from dried plants, much stronger materials were needed to power this new elastomer.

He came to Rupert because he thought this method was extremely dangerous, and it seemed like his hunch was correct.

‘Even if I ask, it seems difficult to get a truthful answer now.’

Although he consistently acted with a cool expression without moving a single inch, the body never lies.

Eustaf thought that there might be a specific group that was threatening Rupert or the Somerset family.

And the new comic book was probably marked this way to ask for help.

    Clink!

“Ah… sorry. I made a mistake because I was a bit tired right now.”

Yustav thought to himself as he looked at Rupert, who seemed to have lost strength in his hands and tried to put down the teacup he was holding.

‘Are you nervous? ‘He might be under some kind of threat.’

How in the world would it be possible for a young man to not even have the energy to lift a teacup unless he stayed up all night for several nights?

Yustav felt that he should investigate once he returned.

It’s still just a suspicion, but I feel like something is off.
