Chapter Index

A faint scent of medicine lingers.

    Warm breeze.

A soft blanket that wraps your whole body.

When I woke up, I felt curious about the unfamiliar bed I was sleeping in.

The blanket that covered her body had a design that felt quite different from the blanket that Amy had covered her with.

It’s not a pretty floral pattern.

A plain, solid-colored blanket falls off the body.

    “Are you awake?”

A soft voice lets the listener down.

    “Who are you?”

When I turned my head, there was an old man with white hair sitting there.

He was drinking coffee and laughing happily when he slowly opened his mouth.

    “Call me Rabin.”

    “Rabin?”

    “Yeah. That’s my name.”

    I nod and look around.

A space of pure white color.

Although it felt stuffy, the clean image was more intense.

I looked at the humidifier on the small table emitting white steam and asked Ravin a question.

    “What about Shine?”

Rabin got up from his seat at my question and came over to my bedside.

His gait was relaxed, his manners were leisurely, and I could not read any hostility in his movements.

He came over to the bed next to me, reached out and pulled back the white curtain that had fallen next to him.

The curtain was pushed back with a rustling sound.

Shine was lying on the large bed, sleeping with a relaxed expression on her face.

The faint smile on her lips softened her mood.

    “Why were we sleeping here?”

    “Don’t you remember?”

    “Huh?”

“It seems like you haven’t been sleeping well lately. Amy brought you here after you suddenly collapsed.”

    Were you lacking sleep?

    I nod my head absentmindedly.

    “Then where did Amy go?”

    “Amy?”

Rabin looks around the white room at my question.

He answers slowly, stroking his beard.

    “Until a little while ago… . There was… .”

Judging by the way his words trailed off, it seemed like he also didn’t know where Amy had disappeared to.

I jumped up from my seat.

There were no restrictions on my movements because my whole body felt refreshed as if I had just woken up from a good night’s sleep.

Small feet tread on the cold marble floor.

Knock knock – move the tip of the foot and tap the floor.

    “What about my shoes?”

    “It’s under there.”

I duck my head under the bed at Rabin’s words.

At the same time, white hair falling down like corn.

I fixed my hair and took out my shoes and put them on.

    “My hat is gone too.”

I said, stroking my empty head.

As I looked up at Ravin, biting my lip, he raised his hand and pointed to the small table next to the bed.

I run to the table with quick steps.

Looking up at it, there was a large witch’s hat that Amy had given her as a gift.

    “Oops.”

I stretch out my hand but I can’t reach it.

Flapping hands scatter the air they cannot catch.

Close your eyes tightly and lift your toes.

My body is elongated, and I desperately reach out as if I were a cat.

    But I’m not a cat.

    Unable to elongate the body.

Ravin, who was watching me jumping up and down on the floor, waving his hands, slowly walked over and took my hat off.

As soon as I received the hat, I pushed it firmly onto my head.

    “Thank you.”

A wide-brimmed hat restricts the view.

Objects placed in high places quickly disappear from sight.

The same was true of Rabin’s expression.

I looked around with my hat pulled down low.

The structure of the white room, visible from a small height, could be viewed from a different perspective than before.

    “Is this a hospital?”

    “You could say that.”

I lift the brim of my hat and examine Ravin’s expression.

He just watched what I was doing with a face full of interest.

    I crawl back into bed.

Although it was soft, I liked sleeping in the bed with Amy better.

Because I liked the fragrant scent of flowers better than the smell of medicine.

“Should I wait here for Amy?”

    “Wouldn’t that be good?”

    I shook my short legs.

My gaze turns to a small door at the end of the room.

Here too, there were no windows visible.

    “Did Amy bring us here?”

I recalled Rabin’s words and searched through my hazy memories.

The last scene was clearly a PC room.

    I think I saw a funny video.

“That’s right. I came running with a lot of thought.”

“I remember that time,” Rabin said with a small smile in his voice.

“She seems to really care about you guys.”

    “You want us?”

I shift my gaze and look at Shine.

    “Yeah.”

    I nod to Rabin’s words.

If you think about it, she paid a lot of attention to us.

What kind of beings did we approach her as?

I touch my cheek with complicated feelings.

Her soft cheeks are squished here and there, blurring her gaze.

    Click-

At that moment, the sound of a closed door handle turning was heard.

    My gaze turns towards it.

    I feel a familiar presence.

I jump out of bed right away.

    “Amy!”

The door opened as my voice flowed out.

There stood Amy holding a basket of fruit.

    “Jeff?”

    “Amy!”

    I ran to her.

Short legs move quickly, making a thump thump sound.

Amy bent her knees and opened her arms to me, her gaze darting back and forth.

    Oh, my.

Any doubts that arise for a moment quickly disappear.

My body runs away and falls into Amy’s arms.

The refreshing and sweet scent that hits you quickly soothes your anxiety.

Amy hugs me tightly and gets up from her seat.

A gaze that rises in an instant.

    I hugged Amy’s neck.

    Oh, my.

    Huh?

“Jeff, are you feeling better now?”

    Amy’s worried words.

Her gaze is turned towards me.

My heart melts at the warm gaze filled with deep affection.

With a trembling gesture, he releases his strength from her embrace.

    “Ugh… .”

I lower my head, avoiding Amy’s gaze.

She buried her head in his arms, pulling down her large witch’s hat.

Amy slowly stroked my back like that.

“It seems like the kids rely on you a lot.”

    “Are the kids okay?”

“How many times do you have to ask, it’s just lack of sleep.”

“I’m going to bed on time.”

Amy walked towards the bed, refuting Lavigne’s words.

She took an apple out of the fruit basket she was holding and threw it at Ravin.

    “This one?”

“The rest is for the kids.”

“Okay, I got it. The old man in the back room should be quiet.”

Rabin clicked his tongue and took a bite of an apple while sitting on a large chair.

“Did you miss me that much?”

I couldn’t raise my head at the sound of Amy’s voice mixed with laughter.

I couldn’t understand why I did that either.

After she put me down on the bed, she placed the basket of fruit she was holding on the small table.

    “Shine hasn’t woken up yet.”

    “Yes.”

    “You must be very tired.”

Amy took a banana out of the fruit basket and offered it to me.

I took the banana she handed me and peeled it.

As the white flesh is revealed, saliva begins to collect in the mouth.

“Maybe it’s because I worked hard on the math problems?”

    “Yeah… ?”

Amy’s voice trembled slightly at my words.

I took off my witch’s hat and studied her expression.

After hearing what I said, she became deep in thought with a serious expression on her face.

“It was too… . It was too… . I think the problem was that it was difficult… .”

    I added my comment cautiously.

I look at Amy’s face with a searching gaze.

She nods slowly to my words.

    “I see… .”

    Okay.

    It’s all over.

I stuffed the banana into my mouth with a happy heart.

I was smiling happily at the sweetness filling my mouth, but then I started to cry at Amy’s next words.

“Then I guess I should add some nap time.”

How did you come to that conclusion?

I shook my head, munching on the banana that was in my mouth.

    “Do you think so too?”

    No, no.

    That’s not it.

    “No?”

    I nod vigorously.

But Amy shook her head firmly.

    “No, I think that’s right.”

    “Ah… . I don’t think so… .”

He swallowed the banana that filled his mouth and spoke carefully.

But she pretended not to hear.

“From now on, we will add nap time to your schedule.”

    The day was too short.

I go to bed too early, so I can’t watch late-night television broadcasts.

The idea of having to take a nap meant the day was getting shorter.

    “No!”

    “Why?”

    “But… . A day is too short.”

I say that and wiggle my fingers.

The day was really too short.

When I wake up in the morning, I eat breakfast and then come back and play with Shine.

When it’s lunch time, we eat again.

After that, he trains with Victor.

    And discuss with Shine.

Then he goes back to his room and talks to Shine again.

Then Amy presents me with a difficult ordeal.

He hands them a thick workbook and prevents them from playing until they solve it all.

She won’t know how hard it is.

And it takes a lot of time.

    “Math… If I don’t solve math problems… I think it would be okay to take a nap… .”

I brought up the subject while observing her expression, but Amy shook her head firmly.

    “No.”

I bow my head to her words.

I feel a little sad for no reason.

He pulled the hat he had taken off down onto his head and threw the banana peel he was holding onto the floor.

    “Jeff!”

I covered myself with the blanket and pretended not to hear Amy’s voice.

I rolled up and squirmed under the blanket.

    “Amy?”

A familiar voice was heard then.

It seemed like Shine had woken up.

    But I couldn’t see it.

I writhed and twisted my body.

Every time that happened, my body’s movements were restricted.

I was gasping and squirming, and I was able to get my face out of the blanket.

    “Jeff.”

Shine got up from her seat and looked at me and said.

I smile at her and talk to her.

    “Shine. Did you sleep well?”

    “What are you doing?”

At her words, I lowered my gaze and examined my body.

It was quite embarrassing to see her wrapped up in a blanket with only her face sticking out.

The tips of my ears are burning hot.

    But I couldn’t move.

The rolled up blanket made it impossible for me to move.

    “Help me. Amy… .”

I writhe around, gasping for breath, and call out to Amy for help.

She looked down at me and let out a small sigh as she untied the blanket.
