“What the hell is this?”

The lover he truly loved couldn’t escape a miserable fate after his death, wandered endlessly, and finally died.

With what heart, what feelings, was he supposed to watch this…? The overwhelming emptiness and the pain, as if his chest were being gouged out, made his heart feel like it would stop.

“I wished for her to live happily. Why… why is this happening?”

The words he barely managed to utter in a trembling voice were Yunyoung’s true feelings.

Even if it meant she forgot him, he had hoped she would meet a good man, build a harmonious family, and live joyful days.

Because he truly loved her, he could sacrifice himself.

    But it should have been…

His eyes, brimming with tears and immersed in sorrow, showed no will whatsoever. He was like an empty shell, having lost all motivation at the tragic end of the person he loved.

    “Mira.”

He recalled countless times the image of his lover smiling at him. He loved that smile so much that he wanted to protect her by her side for his entire life.

He groaned, a choked sound escaping him.

Yunyoung, groaning as if in pain, clenched his hands tightly, hurting as if to the core.

“She’s a pure and good child… she’s never done anything bad, so why make her suffer such a fate…?”

    Gradually, his focus returned.

Soon, his eyes reeked of intense murderous intent and hatred.

He was filled with a level of rage he had never experienced in his life, and felt a chest-ripping fury.

The Grim Reaper who had been by his side seemed to sense he should give Yunyoung space and disappeared. Left alone in the room, Yunyoung’s body trembled violently, and he roared like a beast, as if spitting out the surging fury.

“Kim Minho, you son of a bitch!!!!!!!!!!!”

His resentment was even greater because he had considered him his best friend.

“You motherfucker, I thought of you as more than a friend, like family, you goddamn piece of trash!!!!”

His voice was filled with fiery passion.

“You played with Mira to your heart’s content, imitating me, then when she got pregnant, you fled overseas under the pretext of getting a job? Are you even human!?”

With bloodshot eyes, Yunyoung looked as if he would chew out the guy’s guts if he were standing in front of him.

To treat Mira, the person most precious to him and his lover, as merely an annoying toy or trash and play with her like that.

To someone who truly loved her, this was even more horrifying than murder.

“Kim Minho, you son of a bitch! How dare you get her pregnant then abandon her and flee overseas, you motherfucking bastard!”

Yunyoung’s eyes welled up as he roared. In his surging rage and fury, he wanted to destroy everything in this world.

    “Damn it… Mira… Han Mira.”

But there was another, greater torment. It was his helpless situation, having to watch the misfortune of the woman he adored without being able to intervene.

“Damn it… She’s suffering so much, and I can’t even offer any comfort? Damn it!”

Soaked sobs escaped his tightly pressed lips.

    *Sobs.*

    *Deep, wrenching sobs.*

He couldn’t calm down at all. Instead, it felt like his entire body was burning, and he was gradually going mad.

    “Aaaaargh!”

Consumed by a fiery passion that engulfed his body, Yunyoung howled like a madman. He tore at his hair, struggling against the absurd reality.

    “Damn it! Fucking hell!!!!!!!!!”

Yunyoung’s rampage continued for several hours.

As a result, his voice was hoarse, and his lips were parched. His hair was disheveled, and his eyes were a mess of tear streaks.

“If only we had died together back then, this wouldn’t have happened.”

His precious woman was horribly violated by fate, trampled by those around her, lost her mind due to mental illness, and was sold as an island slave. And there, pregnant, she drowned in the sea and died.

“Fuck… This is utterly fucked up. How could such a thing exist in this world?”

It would have been far better to be hit by that truck and die together back then. At least if they had died together, she wouldn’t have suffered such a tragic fate.

Even while dating Mira, Yunyoung cherished her so much that he had never engaged in a physical relationship with her.

He wanted to do such things after marriage.

A man in his twenties’ sexual urges were always like a raging flame, and he had lewd thoughts multiple times a day.

Even though he could have embraced Mira anytime he wanted, he didn’t. For a man to act that way was impossible unless he truly loved someone immensely.

And yet, Mira’s purity was thoroughly enjoyed by his friend Kim Minho, that motherfucking───goddamn──worthless─idiot bastard, who even got her pregnant and then ran away.

“Fuck!!!!!!! Have I ever asked for anything fucked up in my life, goddammit?! I just wanted to live like everyone else.”

He had looked forward to the day he would marry and live under the same roof with Mira.

He would eat the breakfast she made and receive her kiss before going to work. He wanted to have cute children who resembled Mira and himself, and live a harmonious life.

But thugs like Yunyoung and the island people treated her as a sex toy, impregnated her for their pleasure, and completely exploited her like livestock.

Just recalling that made him feel dizzy, as if his blood was flowing backward.

“If I were still alive, I would take a chainsaw, go to that island, and slaughter them all like pigs, tearing them to pieces.”

He couldn’t believe there were still regions in this country with such garbage customs of buying and selling people, and using Mira as a sex slave was disgusting.

“Han Mira… I’m really going crazy from missing you.”

Even desperately calling her name, the painful realization that he couldn’t hear her plunged Yunyoung into even deeper despair.

    -1-

Just then, a door suddenly appeared in the room, and a man emerged from it. He was a different man from the Grim Reaper who had been dealing with Yunyoung until now.

“Have you calmed down a little?”

    “…”

Yunyoung didn’t answer. He wasn’t in the mood. The man simply sat down opposite Yunyoung. He was a man with an unusual aura.

“To introduce myself briefly, I am a god.”

    “A god…?”

“I’ve heard the story of you and your lover. It’s truly a terrible tragedy.”

At those words, fury flared on Yunyoung’s face.

“How do you know that? Only I and the Grim Reaper saw that story.”

“Your story is a very special and rare case. I apologize for not asking for your permission, but it has already been distributed as reference material to many Grim Reapers.”

“Is Mira’s life just a spectacle for you people?”

Yunyoung glared at the god as if to chew him out.

He didn’t want Mira’s story to be told or shown to others. The mere fact that irrelevant strangers knew about her miserable life made annoyance surge within him.

“So you came to tell me that? Damn it.”

“Please don’t be angry. I’ve come to offer you a special favor, Yunyoung-ssi.”

Yunyoung closed his mouth, deciding to listen to whatever nonsense he would spout.

“Nowadays, people rarely dedicate or sacrifice themselves for someone. Furthermore, even if they do, they are often pointed at and ridiculed by some as ignorant fools who don’t understand the ways of the world.”

“So what are you trying to say?”

“I was touched by the fact that Yunyoung-ssi is not such a person. That’s why I want to give Yunyoung-ssi a special opportunity.”

    “A special opportunity?”

“It’s to let you meet Mira-ssi.”

“You’re going to let me meet Mira?”

“Yes. Mira-ssi died by drowning in the sea, so it’s not that you can’t meet her because she’s in the current world.”

“Then Mira is somewhere in this space now?”

    “Yes. I’ll summon her now.”

As the god lightly gestured in the air, brilliant white particles appeared around them and gathered in one spot. The coalescing particles gradually took on a human form, then transformed into a woman.

Yunyoung’s eyes widened with surprise and excitement as he saw the woman who appeared. The woman he had yearned for so desperately stood before him.

Seeing Yunyoung, she smiled and called his name.

    “Yunyoung…”

    “Mira!”

    “Yunyoung…”

It was unmistakably Mira. Yunyoung’s eyes suddenly welled up. A wish he had yearned for even in his dreams had now come true in this very place.

Yunyoung, opening his mouth with difficulty, spoke to her in a trembling voice.

“Do you know how much I missed you?”

    “Yunyoung…”

Yunyoung felt a strange sense of discomfort looking at Mira calling his name. He managed to gather his wits enough to examine her. His vague unease gradually took on a concrete form.

Mira’s eyes were like those of an empty doll. Yunyoung realized that her gaze wasn’t even focused on him, despite him being right in front of her. At that moment, an unpleasant shiver ran down his spine.
