Chapter Index

It’s already been a few days since I sparred with the instructor. Alvaroi’s fighting style was said to be the best martial art in the series, so I expected something amazing, but there was nothing special about the close-quarters bodyless sparring.

It feels like combative or jiu-jitsu, where you are prepared to kill with a bit of bloodshed.

However, in addition, dirty actions such as poking the eyes with a finger and hitting vital points were encouraged.

The true value of Alvaroi’s fighting skills is revealed when he uses guns and special abilities.

For example, like I am sparring with an instructor right now.

    Haha

The other instructor’s special ability is a flexible body.

He likes to dazzle the eye with flashy movements and then surprise them with bizarre trajectories, as if his arms or legs have an extra joint.

If a gun was raised there, it could be said to be a very difficult opponent.

    ‘Whoa……’

Because it is impossible to tell with the naked eye when a bullet will eject from a rapidly swinging muzzle, high-speed thinking is always used during sparring.

Although it is a rubber bullet, it still hurts when hit. If you are unlucky enough to hit a critical point at such a close range, you could die.

    bang

Keep your eyes focused on the muzzle and trigger and twist your body to avoid the bullets fired through your legs. He turned his body around and delivered a kick to the instructor’s side.

    puck

Even the instructor, who was able to easily handle any shock, stumbled for a moment, perhaps because he was slightly shocked.

In fact, I’m confident that I could fold that flaccid body in half if I wanted to, but I’ve already sent several instructors to the infirmary for a few days, so I’ve been strongly cautioned.

I’ve been cautious ever since I saw the emotional dean fiddling with the pistol on his waist.

    Tang- Tang Tang

The instructor deflects the rubber bullets I fired with his arms and shoulders. No, in this case, I couldn’t avoid it completely, so it’s more like I just grazed it.

He approached and tried the articulator. An arm swinging like a whip wraps around my neck.

    Grumbling

    “Ugh…”

I shook it off by burning fire in my throat. After experiencing it a few times, I am now able to freely create fire wherever I want.

I followed up and punched the instructor who lost his balance and took a step back. In order not to miss a sure victory, accelerate while exploding fireworks from your elbows.

    Bang~

    “Ouch……”

    “Stop sparring!”

The opponent who was hit in the jaw bent his neck to 90 degrees and fell, and another instructor observing from the side ended the sparring.

I approached the fallen opponent and looked at his condition. Fortunately, his neck was not broken, perhaps due to his supernatural ability.

The instructor who was standing quietly next to him saw this and spoke.

“This is a call from Dean Graham.”

    “Okay.”

‘I call you all the time.’

Still, since the other person isn’t seriously injured this time, I’m not calling you to nag.

When I entered the dean’s office, there was another person waiting besides Dean Graham.

    “You’re here.”

The dean, who was working on paperwork, pauses his pen and looks at me.

“Did you injure the instructor again this time?”

    “It is a simple stun.”

“Still, it seems like there is a learning effect.”

The way he speaks is a bit odd, as if he is dealing with an animal.

When I first interacted with the instructor, I made a few mistakes with my hand movements, and he treated me like a complete brainless monster.

“Now you have learned all the Alvaroi fighting techniques that can be learned through sparring.”

    “Is that so?”

“It seems that training while controlling strength with instructors is meaningless. Instructors are also a valuable national asset, so we can no longer waste them.”

The dean pointed to another person waiting next to me.

“From now on, you will act as Janey Windfield’s partner as an apprentice agent. From now on, I will have to refine my skills in actual combat.”

‘It’s Janey Windfield… she’s a character who didn’t appear in the original work.’

I looked sideways at the blue-haired woman standing next to me.

Blue hair that reminds me of the sea and blue eyes are staring straight ahead without wavering.

Now that I was working as an agent, having such a beautiful woman as my partner was just the icing on the cake.

    I nodded and answered.

    “Okay.”

    “Then go out now.”

At his gesture, Janey Windfield and I said hello and left the dean’s office.

As she walked quietly, I held out my hand to shake her hand.

    “This is Minho Moralis.”

    “……This is Janey Windfield.”

Janey Windfield looks at her hands, spits out her name, and starts walking again.

Perhaps because he had no emotions, he seemed uninterested in his surroundings. It seems like he thinks he just needs to do a good job.

Suddenly, I thought it would be fun to play with this doll-like girl.

“Please move all luggage to the agency’s exclusive lodging within today. You can move it to this room.”

    “Yes.”

It seemed to be a format in which agents who were partners with each other shared the same room. A man and a woman share the same room. Long live EDP-427.

We moved all our belongings to our new accommodation. As I sat resting on the bed for a while, Janey came in and spoke to me.

“It’s a mission. Take your equipment and come out.”

I obediently got up from my seat and followed her.

It was my first outing since arriving in this world, other than going to City Hall and the Academy.

    Buzzing

We traveled to the outskirts of the city in vehicles provided to patrol personnel.

As you move out of the city center, the number of shabby and worn-out buildings increases.

In some places, even years after the war ended, restoration was not carried out and some places were left in a state of ruin.

‘Hmm… it’s definitely different from the center of the city.’

The further we go to the outskirts, the more people are looking at us with wary eyes.

It is highly likely that they are people who did not consume EDP-427 and are directly or indirectly related to the rebels.

When we arrived at our destination, we got out of the vehicle.

    “What should I look for?”

“A report came in that traces of rebels were found nearby. The goal is to ask for cooperation from citizens and search the surrounding area.”

    ‘Cooperation… will that work?’

If you look around right now, there are plenty of residents making eye contact and then lowering their heads in shock.

In this situation, I was skeptical about whether it would be possible to achieve something through cooperation.

Despite my thoughts, Janey knocked on the door of an old house nearby and said,

    Thump thump

“This is agent Janey Windfield. We are in the process of collecting the testimony necessary for the investigation, so please cooperate.”

    “……”

Judging from the signs of presence, it was clear that there was someone inside, but there was no reply.

Janey waited for a moment, then moved to the front of another house and repeated the same action.

    Squeak

After trying in vain several times, a house with an open door finally appeared.

    “What’s going on…?”

The person seen through the small gap in the door was an old man with wrinkles.

The old man, who looked like he didn’t have much time left to live, looked Janey and me up and down, then clicked his tongue.

Janey, regardless of his attitude, asked the old man a question.

“Have you seen anyone suspicious nearby? We have received a report of rebel activity and are investigating.”

“……The area around the fortress has been noisy. But I don’t know about the rebels. This neighborhood has always been noisy.”

I left the two people talking and looked around the house through the gap in the door.

A table covered in dust, a chair that looked like it would break one’s legs if one sat on it, cooking utensils that were not visible even after washing one’s eyes, etc., it seemed like one could roughly guess what kind of life this old man was leading.

I can’t even dream of cooking, and I’m probably living on the meager ration of bread.

Janey said, as if the story was roughly summarized.

    “Thank you for your cooperation.”

    “……Good luck.”

    Squeak clang

On the way back to the car after hearing the testimony, I pretended to remember something I had forgotten and said to Janey.

“I thought of an additional question to ask that house earlier. I’ll be back quickly.”

    “Then let’s go together.”

“Just one or two questions. Senior is resting here. If there are rebels nearby, they might do something to your car.”

When I said that, Janey looked around and nodded.

“I hope you get there quickly.”

    “Yes.”

I walked towards the house where the old man was earlier.

Senior Janey, who seems like a novice agent, doesn’t seem to have noticed, but I’m different.

    Thump thump thump

    “I told you everything I knew… Ugh…!”

    Bang~

As soon as I saw a slight opening, I kicked the door wide open.

    “What are you doing…!”

I entered the house, leaving behind the old man who fell to the floor and protested.

    Creak

I step my shoes on the old, brittle floor.

I used my high-speed thinking to quickly observe my surroundings.

‘The nails that held the floor in place are loose. The house is full of dust. ‘If you live in a place like this, you’ll develop diseases you never knew existed.’

Then, suddenly, I noticed a less dusty part of the floor.

‘It’s as if the furniture was moved… Is this here?’

He stamped his foot hard on top of it and smashed the floor.

    Kwasik

    “That… stop! There’s nothing there!”

    Clap

    “Be quiet.”

    “Ugh……”

When I became an agent and aimed the newly supplied pistol, I left the old man who became quiet and looked into the secret space hidden under the floor.

There were a few crude homemade guns, some food, and what I was looking for.

    I quietly lifted it up.

    “This. It’s a fake EDP-427, right?”

    “That’s…”

When I point the gun at the silent old man again, he trembles and tells the truth.

    “That’s right… So please……”

“If you tell anyone about this, I will come back.”

    “I won’t tell anyone…!”

After silencing the old man, he put the medicine bottle in his pocket and left the house.

As I quickly returned to the place where Janey was waiting, I saw her getting out of the car and waiting.

Behind her as she turned her head towards me, the setting sun was sinking down the river.

“You’re here. Did you get anything?”

    “No. There was nothing special.”

So I finished my first mission and returned to the academy.
