by adminWell.. if I become a platinum-tier adventurer later on and earn so much money that I can’t count it all at once, I did have the intention of learning spatial magic.
By then, the chaotic world due to monsters would probably be sorted out.
“Ah, then I’ll take my leave here. I came to see about spatial magic.”
“Oh, okay.”
Amelia with pink hair greeted me and then walked back inside with quick steps.
She seemed to be working on something.
Perhaps she was researching something similar to when the iron beads flew towards me.
‘But what kind of research is that exactly.’
I’ve never heard of such research before.
Being someone who runs a general store, maybe her research was different from the ordinary.
I was curious, but not curious enough to personally inquire about it.
She’ll handle it on her own.
With that thought in mind, I left the general store.
“Hmm..”
I walked out of the general store, lost in unnecessary thoughts.
There didn’t seem to be many ‘travelers’ in Baruk.
Or maybe people just didn’t notice that others were travelers.
Most people who came from Korea to this world were injected with the knowledge of this world, so they rarely showed any awkwardness in their daily lives.
There were two ways to find out.
One was if the other person mentioned that they were a traveler.
‘That’s almost nonexistent.’
Unless you met them at the gallery, this was almost never the case.
Of course, travelers weren’t discriminated against in this world, but that didn’t stop ordinary people from being wary.
Most people just went about without saying anything.
The second way was if the other person seemed to be lost in thought, with a focused gaze.
Since galleries appeared transparent in front of viewers, people outside often ended up looking at thin air.
Or they pretended to look at something else while actually looking at the gallery.
In such cases, it was a clue that the other person might be a traveler.
Well, now that these ways of identifying travelers have become more widespread, there were no longer people foolishly staring at galleries outside.
With that thought in mind, I walked along the street.
There wasn’t a set way for me to take a break.
If I saw something that looked delicious while walking around, I would buy and eat it on the spot, or I would admire the surroundings.
‘This is a decent hobby.’
Other adventurers gambled, but compared to them, I had a very wholesome hobby.
Well.. I did want to try gambling.
Isn’t gambling part of fantasy?
So I did have a desire to try it, but the probability of losing money was high, so I didn’t dare to try.
And I found it more enjoyable to admire galleries from the comfort of my own home.
With that thought in mind, as I wandered around, I saw a familiar face.
“Oh? Hello.”
“Hmm..? Oh, it’s Eugene.”
It was Violet.
Perhaps Violet was also wandering around here and there to clear her mind after completing a mission yesterday.
Of course, she was carrying a dagger on her thigh.
I, too, always wore my robe over my necklace.
I didn’t particularly want to show my face.
My face was enough to be shown to my colleagues with whom I worked.
Even when I was a beggar, I was often mistaken because of my unusual hair color.
Of course, it was an unusual hair color by this world’s standards.
With that thought in mind, we exchanged light conversation.
“What have you been up to?”
“Oh, well.. I heard that there’s a good restaurant nearby, so I came to check it out.”
“I see.”
By my standards, almost every restaurant in Baruk had delicious food.
Of course, there were some foods that I couldn’t eat even by my standards, but those places didn’t last long.
So now, there were hardly any places where I couldn’t eat by my standards.
As Violet was lost in thought about food, she casually threw out a question.
“Can’t we buy food here since you said you’d treat me to a meal? I want to eat here.”
“Oh, well… I don’t mind. Since I offered to treat you.”
I wasn’t sure about Violet’s taste, but it seemed like she had a more refined palate than me, so it made sense for her to eat where she wanted.
I didn’t want to see her expression sour by going to a place I recommended for no reason.
And so, we entered ‘Harang Restaurant’ while chatting.
Even though it wasn’t that dark yet, the place was crowded as we walked in.
“There are a lot of people here.”
“They said this place is famous, so it seems to be true.”
As we looked around, a female staff member approached us and came to our table.
“Excuse me, are you two?”
“Yes.”
“Then let me show you to your table…!”
We followed the staff member to our table and sat down.
It felt really cozy there.
“The atmosphere here is nice.”
“Yeah, they used expensive wood. They used good stuff.”
I didn’t have an eye for wood, so I just nodded.
Violet had no reason to lie to me.
As we sat there, the staff member came over to me and handed me the menu.
But then-
“Huh?”
“Hm? Why are you guys here?”
Bald-headed Theron was holding the menu.
Something didn’t match.
It was strange to see the rugged-looking Theron working as a staff member here.
It was kind of odd.
“Do you work here by any chance?”
“Oh, my wife runs this pub. So, as you can see, I’m helping out a bit.”
“Your wife is here?”
“…Isn’t that natural? It’s more unusual not to have one at this age.”
Of course, at Theron’s age, having a wife was natural, but I didn’t think he would have one, being Theron.
I thought he was single.
“Oh… but you still play the role of a man.”
“Hm, if you’re here, stop talking nonsense and order some food. I’m not bragging, but the cooking at Harang Restaurant is quite good, so any dish you order will be delicious. I guarantee it.”
“Hm… then this and this.”
“And beer too?”
“Of course.”
In this world, beer was a staple.
But since it was lukewarm beer, it was essential to always have it chilled before drinking, or it tasted off.
After ordering, Theron went back to the kitchen with the menu in hand.
“What did you order?”
“Just the basics. It’s good to evaluate a new place with basic dishes first and then order other dishes.”
“Oh…”
Honestly, I didn’t really agree with that, but I pretended to understand.
I had to be considerate too.
As we chatted, Theron brought the food to our table.
“Oh… it looks delicious.”
“Yeah, my wife is especially good at this dish. I guarantee the taste.”
Theron seemed to really like his wife.
It was kind of funny to see him talking awkwardly with that face.
Well, it wasn’t a bad thing, so I chuckled and quickly chilled the beer.
Violet’s beer was also chilled, of course.
“Every time I see it, it’s really convenient. Do you have any thoughts about working at our store? The hourly wage is good.”
“Oh, it’s okay.”
Why bother with such a hassle?
I didn’t need money urgently.
There were plenty of ways to make money with magic, so there was no need to insist on that method.
With that thought in mind, I quickly drank the beer.
Honestly, I used to wonder why I drank this, but once I felt the refreshing beer hit my throat, I realized I didn’t need anything else.
Of course, the biggest drawback was the hassle of purifying water.
With such thoughts in mind, Violet began to share an interesting story while we ate.
“I heard from a reliable source that there’s a rumor about the headquarters of the Legion Commander hidden near Baruk. Although they’re not actively operating yet, there’s a high possibility that they’ll emerge soon. So, it might be better to lay low for a while.”
It was clear that Violet was saying this out of consideration for me.
Although we hadn’t known each other for long, we had already built good memories together.
So, I smiled and replied, “Oh, yes. I’ll lay low as much as possible. I’m not really in need of money anyway.”
If the Legion Commander wasn’t going to take away my job, I had no intention of getting involved.
I couldn’t stand getting caught up in troublesome matters.
As I was lost in these thoughts, someone rushed in through the door and urgently spoke to another person sitting nearby.
“Android Malious has appeared…!”
Upon hearing those words, a thought crossed my mind.
Ah, how annoying.
