Chapter Index

“It’s been a few months since I drew this comic, right?”

Unlike illustrations for children’s books, it’s been a while since I’ve drawn pictures for comics, so I couldn’t hide my excitement.

Since I first became a webtoon writer because I liked comics, I was so excited when I drew comics that I didn’t even think of it as work.

First, while the craftsmen were researching and developing materials and tools, what I had to do was storyboard work.

Comics are a genre with very little text. Therefore, it was basic to lead the play with only dialogue and character actions, so the so-called cut distribution was important.

The work of structuring and arranging how to distribute the cuts of such a cartoon is called a storyboard.

‘It’s most natural to read from left to right.’

For the first step of the storyboard, it was necessary to decide on a direction.

It varies depending on the type of comic, but it’s best to plan on the premise that it will be read from left to right.

The reason is because of the form of language. The language of this world is written horizontally, and most countries on Earth are written horizontally to begin with.

Japan is a country that particularly insists on writing vertically.

Due to this influence, Japanese comic books, which can be said to be the home of comics, have a strange structure in which they are read from right to left.

‘People who read comic books for the first time had a hard time because of this.’

In the first place, people prefer to read from left to right, so it can’t be said to be a good method.

Once the order was decided, it was now necessary to distribute the cuts.

Usually, there are times when there are more than 10 spaces per page, but that is a special case and it usually looks best to resolve it to around 8 spaces.

You are free to either divide the 8 spaces into equal sizes or adjust the size of each cell.

It doesn’t matter how you read it, as long as it’s fun and not uncomfortable.

It was one of the biggest reasons I liked comics.

A genre where everything is cut down to the extreme just for the sake of fun.

No matter how good the content is, if it’s not fun, it gets a bad review.

In the world of comics, if there was no special content, as long as it was fun, it was a masterpiece.

‘The distribution of cuts is like this… No, here, the idea is to narrow the gap and show overlapping forms… .’

This is something I am confident in. In my past life, the reason why I was selected by the head of a publishing company to make ‘The Youngest Son of the Hwang Family’ into a webtoon was because of my ability to distribute these cuts.

The process of translating scenes that come to mind while reading an original novel or movie onto paper.

In the process, I naturally came up with how to distribute the cuts.

And perhaps the distribution was pretty good, and the skill that earned me praise for being able to read comics smoothly hasn’t died yet.

However, because his ability to create stories was actually lacking, he was evaluated as an author optimized for turning original works into webtoons.

‘Even if you are possessed in another world, inspiration that wasn’t there before will not spring forth.’

Even the tiniest of hands don’t give you the talent to create a story.

We had no choice but to create an ‘Ice Kingdom’ with the original work instead of creating something from nothing.

‘But you can’t just copy the original story.’

Children’s books are already steady classics, so if I change them as I please, it would be an insult to the original work.

It was not right to make the cartoon ‘Ice Kingdom’ drawn this time exactly as the original.

There was a need to keep the basic framework the same but change the details.

‘The double protagonist part is attractive, so I’ll leave it as is, and the setting part should be adapted to fit this world.’

I think it will be okay. The characters of ‘Elsa’ and ‘Hanna’ are attractive because of their contrast, so it would be plausible to keep them, and to add the setting of the Ice Witch’s Curse since it is a world where magic actually exists.

Erza was cursed by the Ice Witch to freeze everything, and the king and his wife imprisoned her out of fear that she would harm people.

Hanna is about to inherit the throne, knowing nothing but thinking that Elsa is dead.

‘It really makes me wonder where the limits of this body’s drawing skills are.’

While drawing the storyboard, I was once again impressed by Rupert’s deceitfulness.

The illustrations in a typical children’s book are different from the illustrations in a comic book. In comic books, the drawings must be organized as concisely as possible to highlight the character’s characteristics.

The drawing skills that handle even that perfectly. At this level, it was truly a painting worthy of being called a ‘Manshin.’

In an instant, the storyboard work began to fit the story, drawing characters in a drawing style that suited the comic.

The craftsmen of the Somerset estate were appalled by Rupert’s recent behavior of putting up blackout curtains to block sunlight.

‘sunlight? You’re kidding, right? A person only needs water and bread. It’s not a plant, and all you have to do is bask in the sunlight after you’re done with your work.’

Rupert’s remarks raised suspicions that the Master might have become a vampire, but unfortunately, the suspicions were resolved by drinking the vitality potion made by the church like water.

The craftsmen were horrified every time Rupert drank the vitality potion as if it were delicious wine.

Since they are also humans, they have been surprised by the existence of a vitality potion that helps them regain energy when they are tired and tired, and have drank it without realizing it.

‘uh… Why are my eyes spinning? Wow!!!’

After a certain period of time, you feel dizzy and nauseous, and once you drink it, your teeth start shaking and you don’t want to touch it again.

Rupert, who drank like water, was an incomprehensible monster in the eyes of his craftsmen.

They were also particularly strict about the quality of their products.

‘hmm… There’s a big problem with this paper.’

    ‘yes?!’

‘This means that this paper has finally come out!’

‘Is that so? I made it all night long.’

‘If I had seen this earlier, I wouldn’t have sent you home from work last time. again!’

Does Rupert know? As he turned around, the paper craftsman’s knife flashed.

Still, the reason the craftsmen have not rebelled until now is because the person working the most in the workshop is Rupert.

Obviously, my sense of time was confused when I saw that someone who used to sit at their desk and draw when they got off work was still drawing when they got to work.

Not only that, while he was painting, he would occasionally look at the work of other craftsmen, make comments, and even discuss business with the merchant.

What was surprising was that he was doing all of this while playing with Rupert’s younger sister, Ada.

Among the craftsmen, there was no one so shameless as to say that he was too tired when his superiors and even nobles took the lead in working.

“Now, this is this month’s salary.”

“No, master, this is more than the last time. There was some mistake… .”

The artisans who saw the amount in the salary envelope Rupert handed out were embarrassed and reported it right away.

Even when compared to the artisans in the capital, their wages were already generous enough to not be inferior.

The amount received this time had increased further, so there must have been some mistake.

“It is not a mistake. There was especially a lot of overtime this month, so I counted it all in.”

    “Master… .”

The craftsmen had no intention of complaining even if they were actually paid much less than this.

If you listen to the circumstances of other fiefdoms, it is said that there are many cases where taxes are raised every year, and there are many cases where people are called to do the lord’s private work and suffer, and do not receive any money.

On the other hand, Bradley, Earl of Somerset, the lord of the artisans, never raised taxes even though his financial situation worsened significantly after the war.

There was no need to exploit artisans privately. Therefore, although he was poor compared to other nobles, the people of the estate respected the count more than anyone else.

Even if Rupert, the esteemed Count’s successor, took advantage of them, they planned to work with the mindset of repaying the favor.

On the contrary, I couldn’t complain because they treated me like this.

“Then we feel good because we got paid today. It’s been a while since I’ve stayed up all night!”

“Yes? Did we do it yesterday too?”

“If it’s been one day, it’s been a long time. I have a lot of new things to make this time, so I don’t have time to waste time on words that aren’t that important.”

However, when I saw him just say what he wanted to say and run away, I could feel something crying inside me.

Still, the craftsmen, who had already become accustomed to this situation, calmed down their emotions and quietly returned to their seats and started chattering.

    ***

“Thank you for your hard work, Master. This time, I received support money by talking directly with the imperial chamberlain.”

“I’m glad. Also, I didn’t try to give it away with an appreciation plaque or something.”

“Master, it is difficult for the appreciation plaque to be treated as the ‘same thing’… .”

Appreciation certificates that can neither be sold nor eaten are, to me, nothing more than an anti-counterfeiting sticker.

“This time, for mass production, the cost of additional purchase of the latest Matop printing machine and research service costs have all been processed.”

The owner of the mall explained to me the name of the subsidy and details of its use one by one.

    “It was inserted securely.”

“Of course. I also like eating other people’s money.”

Although it was packaged with reasonable language in the usage details, the items for our goods business were mixed in here and there.

There are more than one or two types of equipment and tools needed, but if you try to get them all, you will have to spend all the money you have saved.

After discussing with the owner of the merchant, we decided to purchase it with royal subsidy.

Of course, since they were also used to make comic books, there was no room for suspicion on the outside, so they were able to completely rob the imperial treasury.

Just looking at it made me feel refreshed as I felt like I had avenged some of the vengeance on the Elven fertilizer.

“But the results of all of this will vary depending on your work.”

“That’s right. No matter how much you put the princess in front of you, if you receive this much support money, there is a chance that you will be questioned if something goes wrong.”

“Still, I’m confident. The new ‘comic book’ that you are creating will definitely have a greater impact than children’s books.”

Originally, we planned to make children’s book-style text books and distribute them in the name of the princess, but the reason we started this big business was.

This was after the owner of the merchant checked my comic book manuscript.

He said that comic books would definitely be successful and suggested that this would be achieved by receiving a large amount of royal subsidy.

I agreed to his confident suggestion that if we cover the costs of the goods business, we can proceed much faster.

“Anyway, how far has the work progressed?”

“Now we have reached 70%, and it is almost done if the craftsmen develop the necessary tools.”

    “The speed is very fast.”

“No, I am still dissatisfied. However, it’s a shame that the artisans look so exhausted that even vitality potions can’t recover them. Do you have any healing potion?”

“Master, healing potions are used to regenerate wounds, so if a healthy person eats them, they will only feel hungry.”

Tsk. There are areas in this world that cannot even be described as mysteries. Wait a minute, then what about the denomination?

“If the church brings in a priest to do healing, wouldn’t it be okay to not sleep?”

I quickly withdrew my statement as the head of the business looked at me as if my words were something ugly.
