“Ugh… Huh…”

I stretched my body, arching it. When stretching, if I don’t twist my whole body and groan to the point of discomfort, it doesn’t feel satisfying. As I turned my body to the side, her face came into view. Her sleeping face made my heart flutter. I embraced her, burying my face in her chest. She drank from her cup with a similar sound.

“What are you drinking, Mitsuki? Same as mine?”

“I’m just having black coffee with a bit of sugar.”

“Oh… But what time is it now?”

“The time? It’s almost 8 o’clock.”

“What?”

“Yeah, it’s 8 now.”

“Oh… Oh no… I need to hurry and shower.”

I quickly finished my drink, rushed to the bathroom, got dressed, grabbed my bag, and hurried out of the house. Barely making it to the station, I caught the train and barely made it to school.

“Oh… I’m dead tired…”

I slumped over my desk at the back of the classroom. As I caught my breath, the professor entered. I calmed down a bit, took out my textbooks and pencil case from my bag.

“Senior, you barely made it again today.”

Next to me, Inagawa smiled and said. Inagawa is a junior in the classical game club with me. Inagawa, like me, is excessively handsome for a guy, so rumors circulate about him being quite popular. Every time that happens, he dismisses it as nonsense. By the way, he possesses unmatched skills in puzzle games within our club.

“I keep setting my school arrival time based on my old place’s schedule since I moved recently…”

“You moved? Can I come over later? I’ve been dying to play Suzuki.”

“I don’t live alone, so… I’m not sure. I still haven’t finished unpacking.”

“Really? You should have told me when you were moving; I would’ve helped.”

“I didn’t have much stuff to move anyway. It’s mostly CDs, so not many boxes came.”

“Yeah. Oh, someone might visit the club room later, so could you tidy up a bit?”

“But they’re not my guests. Why should I…”

“Just airing it out will be fine! It smells like a bachelor pad, so it needs some freshening up.”

“Well… That’s mostly because of the manager or Ishizuchi…”

Inagawa scratched his head in annoyance, pressing a Sharpie against it.

“Anyway, please do me this favor!”

“Alright…”

“You two can chat later.”

The professor pointed at both of us, furrowing his brow.

“Sorry…”

We whispered apologetically. We were trying to keep it quiet, but it seems everyone in the classroom heard us as they briefly turned their heads towards us.

After the lecture, Inagawa and I parted ways to attend our respective classes. As I sat alone in the classroom, I heard murmurs from behind.

“That person? They say he has a great chest…”

“Yeah… He’s a guy, but apparently, he has a pretty nice chest. And his butt is surprisingly big for a guy, they say he has childbearing hips or something.”

“It feels even more provocative when you actually see it.”

Ignoring such harassment, I pretended not to hear and started using my phone. Just as I was reading webtoons and novels during break time, the professor walked in.

“Sorry for the delay. My computer was acting up. Let’s begin the class.”

The professor wiped his shiny forehead with a handkerchief pulled from his pocket, preparing for the lesson. The hour and a half of class time passed hazily, and I headed towards the main gate to meet her. The Science building where I was and the main gate weren’t far apart, so I arrived quickly. Upon reaching the gate, I noticed a stylish woman loitering around.

“Have you been waiting long? Let’s go eat quickly.”

“Huh? No, I just got here. But your hair is amazing; you must go to a high-end salon.”

“That was back in high school; now I’m just a gaming nerd.”

“And a sex god.”

“Don’t add unnecessary comments!”

I tried to jab her in the ribs, but it had no effect.

“Okay, okay. But there aren’t many restaurants around here.”

“There’s a curry place and a ramen shop next to the school, both are good. Which one do you prefer?”

“Um… let’s go for ramen.”

“Sure. If we go now, there won’t be many people yet. There are only the curry place and the ramen shop nearby, so they fill up quickly.”

“Then let’s hurry.”

We walked towards the ramen shop near the west side of the main gate. Luckily, it wasn’t crowded when we entered. As soon as we sat down, more people started arriving, forming a line.

“It seems like a good place; people lining up like that.”

“Yes… Here, they make the broth with chicken, and after finishing the noodles, if you eat the rice too, it’s satisfying. The broth is rich and delicious.”

Soon, our ramen arrived, and we focused solely on enjoying it. After the meal, we bought ice cream from a convenience store and sat on a bench in the campus square.

“People are quite numerous.”

“Because it’s the main campus for now. Many people gather here because various departments are located here.”

I said while licking my ice cream.

“Mm… It seems quite naughty of you to lick ice cream like that.”

“Cough! Cough… What’s that noise outside!”

“Okay, okay. I’m sorry. Your reaction was funny, that’s why.”

“Really… Should we go to the club room now?”

“Yes. Show me around.”

We got up from the bench and headed towards the building where the club rooms were located. It had been built quite a while ago and looked shabby, but still, it was fortunate to have found a corner like this in a place like this. The game club room was right next to the stairs on the second floor. Seeing the open window, it seemed like Inaga had somewhat tidied up. I unlocked the door and we entered. Inside, the first thing we saw was a shelf filled with game cartridges and CDs. Turning left, there was a metal rack filled with various old game consoles, and papers with assigned console numbers were hanging on the wall.

“It seems like we couldn’t avoid this situation…”

On the floor, multi-taps and various power cords were laid out as intricately as utility poles’ wires.

“There are not just one or two… The TV is also a CRT, so it gets hot in the summer. It’s warm now because it’s winter.”

She sat on a chair and looked around the room. I turned on the heater for her in case she felt cold.

As she carefully examined the shelf, she took out a cartridge. It was a legendary game that had dominated an era.

“Oh, that’s a good choice. I’ll set it up.”

I took the cartridge, blew on the connector, plugged it into the console, and turned it on. After adjusting the channel switch, I turned on the TV. With a buzzing sound, the screen gradually lit up along with the game music.

“It’s been a while. This game. I used to play it a lot when I was young.”

“Hehe… Looks like you really liked it?”

“Actually, I could only play this game… My parents didn’t buy me others. So, I played alone until you came.”

“But now you’re playing with me.”

“That’s true…”

I subtly leaned against her. She put down her controller and leaned back against me too. Despite hearing the game over sound, I felt happy knowing she was by my side. The exciting electronic sounds enveloped both of us.
