dark narrow living room

In the eerily quiet and dark narrow living room, only the sound of the shower hitting the ground echoed, and no other sign of human presence was heard.

The white light between the cracks in the door illuminated the pitch-black living room, and I turned my attention to that place.

The scene seen through the gap was horrendous.

Bright red blood dripping from my wrist, and the blood filling the bathtub. My pounding heart and my nausea rising.

    “Mom…Mom…?”

The day I first confronted my mother

That day when the night air at dawn was particularly cold and only the round moon rose alone in the sky without a single star.

    I can’t forget that day.

    “Ugh…here…”

As I forced my heavy eyelids up, my vision became brighter and the ceiling of the dorm where I was staying came into view.

    “Did it happen?”

As I was trying to figure out what was going on, a kind voice came from the other side of the bed.

I turned my head and looked for the owner of the voice.

    “Elysias…When was I here…”

Looking at Elisias sitting on the chair across from me, I tried to force myself to sit up, but she stopped me and made me lie down again.

“It would be better to relax a little”

He places a cold towel on my head in a soft voice.

As my hot head calms down from the cold touch, past situations come into my mind.

“Now that I think about it…what happened to that guy?”

    “…unfortunately…died.”

Elisias hesitated, sighed, and told me the story that followed. I recalled that scene again and raised my trembling hand.

    “Yeah…I see…”

“More than that, what happened? I thought there was a big problem because he suddenly screamed and lost consciousness.”

When Elisias asked with a pensive expression, I shook my head, afraid that the damn memory would come back to me again.

Elisias gently held my trembling hand and gazed at me with calm eyes.

“It’s okay if you don’t say anything, because I’m here.”

“Elysias…are you okay? I saw that scene.”

I asked Elisias out of concern that she might have been traumatized as this was probably her first time seeing such a terrible scene, but she seemed calm.

Elisias looked into space, hesitated, and then smiled slightly.

“Of course…I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t shocked too.”

A small tremor was felt in Elisias’ hands.

“To tell the truth, I was scared… A large amount of blood flowing from my mouth, my eyes gradually losing their light, and my body temperature cooling… When I realized that it was death…”

A shadow appeared on Elisias’ face as he clenched the hand he was holding.

I thought I should say something to Elisias, but I couldn’t control myself so I had nothing to say to her and I had to remain silent.

“Due to this extremely evil situation, my hair turned completely white… and I realized that it was fear”

    “…”

“At that moment, when you fell down screaming, fear turned into only worry about you.”

When I saw Elisias nodding his head with a sad smile, the bridge of my nose felt cold.

“It’s just…you who helped me and saved me time and time again…now it’s time for me to help you. I thought about it this way, and when I thought about it, the fear that made me weak subsided.”

“As expected…you are different from me… When I faced that fear, even though you were in a dangerous situation, I was scared and could not do anything.”

I became depressed and turned my head to see that wide-minded attitude, like the main character of a boy’s cartoon different from mine. Elisias denied it and gave me a sour expression.

“No, you are like me. We are all human beings who become infinitely weaker when we first encounter an uncontrollable situation.”

    “But…”

“Wasn’t the situation different from the beginning? Because what you were trying to do was really life-threatening.”

Elisias smiled faintly and said, as if surprised by my timid words.

The warmth of our joined hands calmed my tremors to some extent, and the dizziness in my head completely subsided, so I stood up.

“Then what did you decide to do with that guy’s body?”

In Kazas Alham, it is common for bodies to be found in the alleyways the next morning, so it is definitely a case of murder, so the guards will begin to move.

Of course, we did not directly kill him, but it is certainly a situation worthy of suspicion.

“Illysha said she would take care of it…but she told me to strictly control my mouth”

    “Okay…okay.”

As I shook my head back and forth to wake up my somewhat dazed mind, Elisias crossed her arms as if she was upset about something.

“Anyway…the facilities here are very poor…and it’s not even soundproofed properly…”

Because I was so busy, I didn’t know or pay attention to it, but it definitely sounded strange.

From the sound of waves coming from the next room and the bed creaking against the wall, I immediately knew what that meant.

“I wonder what on earth they are doing to make it so loud… Moreover, what is this strange moaning sound… It is the same as the sound I heard from my mother and father’s bedroom every night.”

After intentionally remaining silent, Elisias seemed to notice something and got up from his chair.

“Are you involved in something bad? I’ll go!”

    “That’s not it!”

I was momentarily embarrassed and pulled Elisias’ hand, and she collapsed on the bed, pulled by my sudden strength.

“If you interfere with that, the stork will lose his job.”

“Does this sound have anything to do with storks…?”

I sighed at the ridiculously clean expression on Elisias’ face as he tilted his head.

“Well…it won’t be that bad, so don’t worry too much. If I had to say it, it would be better to think of it as sharing love.”

“Making love… Are those strange short words the sound of making love? I don’t understand.”

Elisias closed his eyes and shook his head, touching his chin and turning his head this way and that, as if he was thinking about something.

“You won’t be able to rest comfortably in such a noisy place…”

“Well…I listen to it every night, so it’s true, but I’m trying to get used to it now.”

“Where would you rather come to my accommodation?”

He snaps his fingers and looks at me with his eyes open, thinking it’s a good idea.

“Do you think that would be worse for me?”

“Why? At that time, you said there were no spare rooms, but now there are other rooms, so why not ask the owner to prepare a space where you can rest comfortably?”

After hearing that, I fell into deep trouble for a moment.

    It’s definitely a good method.

Above all, I will be able to respond to any unexpected situation at any time, and I will be able to rule out any unknown risk factors.

I took a moment to gather my thoughts and then nodded.

“Yeah, I think that might be better.”

“Then, if your body feels a little better, let’s move.”

“It’s a bit of a waste of money, but if I stay here any longer, I feel like I’ll just stay up all night again…I won’t be able to sleep. I’ll take a little walk, so let’s just move now. ”

As I got up from my seat and began to organize my useless luggage, Elisias also busily helped me organize it little by little.

After tidying up, we headed out of the hotel.

As the chilly early morning air surrounded my body, I crouched down with my arms under my arms and quickly walked away.

“Harry… I guess I should say this first.”

Elisias, who had been quietly following next to me, suddenly spoke in a solemn voice.

“I’m sorry. Again, because of my carelessness, you almost got into trouble. I sincerely apologize in the name of Green Dea… I will make it up to you properly later.”

Place your hand on your chest and bow your head with as much courtesy and politeness as possible.

I was quite surprised by the unfamiliar appearance and waved my hands.

“No! Well… Anyway, I learned how to move forward, and saying sorry too often has no weight.”

    “Hmm…sure…”

Elisias, who was looking at the sky, stopped as if something occurred to him.

“Then how about saying thank you?”

[Thank you] An expression expressing gratitude for someone’s kindness

I was left speechless by something very simple but unfamiliar, something that was hard to hear, and as this silence continued, Elisias placed her hand on her chest again.

“Thank you for always helping me even though I only met you not long ago, for always saving me first and understanding… for teaching me many things.”

    “S-stop it…that’s embarrassing too…”

Feeling embarrassed, Elisias stopped speaking and made an admiring face, as if something had awakened her.

“Oh…it’s definitely something that resonates better than saying sorry…thank you for this too.”

As I was walking down the street in an uncomfortable atmosphere and feeling a little out of breath, I found a bench on the street.

“Shall we take a short break?”

When he pointed to the bench, Elisias agreed and sat down on the bench.

As I sat down next to Elisias, I raised my head and looked at the sky.

There was not a single star in the dark night sky, and only the lonely moon was shining on this street in a very lonely way.

It was the same night as that day.

“Elysias…Did you ask me about my parents?”

    “Yes…I did.”

I glanced at Elisias, who answered in a soft voice, then took a deep breath of cold air and then slowly exhaled it.

White breath blew out of my mouth, like the smoke from the cigarette I used to smoke before I came here, and it quickly disappeared like a memory I had forced to erase.

“Wait…it’s going to be a very long story.”

“Don’t worry…the night is longer than you think.”
