Chapter Index

    “Chris.”

    “Yes.”

As soon as Sheila called my name, I took out the terminal from my pants pocket.

Before leaving for the drug dealer’s hideout, I borrowed this terminal from Youngmin.

‘How do I take a picture of this?’

Since it was my first time using a terminal, I had no choice but to wander around.

But somehow, using the terminal’s camera, I was able to take pictures of the room that Scylla and I had entered.

Silas was alert to her surroundings even without me telling her.

    -Buuuuk.

When I opened the golf bag, it was full of carefully wrapped bags.

Just in case, I took a bag and put it in my Mimic wallet. Still, it was fortunate that there was enough space to fit a bag.

Lastly, one more photo of the contents of the bag.

It was fortunate that there was no clicking sound when taking pictures with the terminal.

    “Sila, let’s go out now.”

Our goal is not to deal with drug dealers, but to collect evidence!

At this level, I felt like I had done all I had to do. Then, I should jump out immediately!

That moment. I felt a tick on the door handle.

    ‘Hi!’

I immediately turned into a baby bat and attached myself to Scylla’s back. Scylla quickly climbed up onto the cabinet with the blade attached to her back.

    -Kkiik.

A hyena beast came in through the open door and started looking inside the room.

Sheila and I stayed close to the wall, even on top of the cabinet, in case we were caught.

Oh, really, this isn’t some kind of spy story…

By the way, when I think about it like this, most of the drug dealers in the game are prisoners.

And that only applies to certain prisoners. It was not a phenomenon without any reason.

Excluding naturally occurring species like werewolves… some of the beastmen in Dream City were created through experiments.

They are often sold as slaves or become lab rats.

Under these circumstances, it was easy to find criminals familiar with crime in the back alleys of Maguspol.

I thought maybe these hyena beastmen were of a similar type.

    -widely.

While I was thinking this, the hyena beast quickly went out the door.

    “Phew….”

Sheila and I came down from the cabinet, shaking our heads in shock.

Sheila put her ear close to the door and heard the sound of footsteps moving away from outside the door.

    “How about it?”

I waddled over to Scylla while maintaining my baby bat form.

    “I think we’ve gone a long way.”

“Then let’s go out right away.”

I was very fortunate that transforming into this shape did not affect my clothes or device.

I flapped my wings vigorously and moved the door handle to open the door.

    “Sila! Now.”

    ***

Sheila moved her body just as I was about to take a seat behind her.

After getting out of the room, we headed straight to the entrance we entered into this building.

    “Wait a minute.”

However, unlike when we came in, the door was completely closed. It was clear that the guy had moved around and closed it earlier.

    “Profit… profit!”

It was deathly difficult to maintain flight with two wings and turn the door handle with short legs.

    “That’s it.”

As soon as I opened the door, I fell to the floor and landed on Scylla’s back.

    “Let’s go!”

As Silas moved through the open door, Silas and I were finally able to escape the building.

It may not seem like a big deal to some, but it was a really exciting situation for us.

By the way, I am currently feeling the wind from the back of Scylla who is running fast…

    ‘It’s like T■ and Poom■.’

Those guys were meerkats and warthogs, though.

Even though it was me, a baby bat, and Silas, a cat, we were the same bird that ran away in a hurry.

Just when I thought I was somewhat far away from the building…

    -Taang!

Something flew through the air and passed by Silas and me.

    “Huh?!”

    “I’ll run!”

Before I could even grasp the situation, Silas quickly moved her body.

Only then was I able to hold onto Silas’ back tightly.

In that situation, I turned my head and saw a hyena shooting at us.

No, you usually see baby bats and cats and even use guns?!

    “Aaaaa!”

    “Chris, calm down!”

Sheila was moving around, but little by little, her body began to tremble as she heard the sound of bullets passing by us.

Should I just grab Scylla and fly into the air?

Or I could just untransform and kill him… No.

If they did that, other guys would notice that their comrade was gone.

“Chris, what should I do? Shall we join the others first?”

    -Taang!

    “Ugh!”

Scylla seemed to think she had eluded the hyena beast.

But it wasn’t me that answered Sheila’s question, it was the bullet.

Scylla and I began to run away with all our might, looking like meerkats and warthogs.

But before I knew it, the bullets stopped flying.

    “…Huh?”

When I turned my head, I saw Youngmin trudging towards us, with a hyena in control.

    “Chris, Sheila. Are you okay?”

    ***

When I saw Youngmin approaching me as if nothing had happened, I felt somewhat lost.

What on earth were me and Sheila doing?

“Wait a minute. If that guy doesn’t go back to his seat, won’t we get caught?”

I asked, pointing to the hyena beast that Youngmin had subdued.

“Chris, the terminal I lent you. Will you give it back?”

    “Wait a minute!”

I quickly removed my transformation. Then, he took out the terminal from his pocket and handed it to Youngmin.

Youngmin was careful not to let his hand touch mine.

Anyway, Youngmin informed Sylvia and Johnny of our situation and delivered the photos we had obtained to the Public Safety and Security Office.

Once the exact location of the hideout was delivered, the public order maintenance office responded that they would leave immediately.

They were going to split into two, as there were places we hadn’t confirmed yet.

“Youngmin, let’s get out of here first.”

    “Yes.”

This time I started running with Silas in my arms.

“I can run on my own!”

    “It’s okay, let’s move first!”

Despite what she said, I didn’t let go of her.

As the three of us, Youngmin, Silas and I, walked away from the drug dealer’s hideout, Sylvia and Johnny suddenly gave up their interest in drugs and ran out of the hideout.

They might find this behavior suspicious.

You may be suspicious that the hyena beast that Yeongmin subdued has not returned.

However, since the Public Safety and Security Office was also moving, there was nothing more that could be done here.

    “Chris, Youngmin. What happened?”

“Chris found the room where the medicine was and even secured photos, so I contacted the public order maintenance office.”

    “Who is this guy?”

As soon as Youngmin could answer Sylvia’s question, Johnny pointed to the unconscious prisoner and asked.

“The guy who attacked me and Scylla. Youngmin took control.”

“…You might think drug dealers are strange.”

“But wouldn’t it be okay since we just started?”

    “Then that would be fortunate.”

Instead of leaving the scene immediately after Sylvia joined us.

They chose to monitor the hideout until security forces arrived.

Although I was a little worried, Johnny and Youngmin agreed to it to make sure the request was made.

“Sila, just in case, stay nearby.”

    “It’s okay.”

I wondered if Scylla was planning on turning into a beast if a battle broke out.

But fortunately… the security forces arrived sooner before the hyena beasts escaped.

    “Silvia!”

A woman with a familiar face approached. It was Jenny in a blue uniform.

“We caught one of the drug dealers here.”

    “What about the rest?”

“It will be in that hideout. And did you check the photos sent by the partner office solver?”

Jenny nodded in response to Sylvia’s question and handcuffed the still unconscious prisoner’s arms.

“What is the detailed location of that photo?”

“Go inside the door of the building over there and go to the nearest room!”

I, along with Sheila, were the only ones who could properly explain the location of the room.

Satisfied with my answer, Jenny began sharing this information via walkie-talkie with other colleagues.

“Jenny, then I think our work is done.”

“Thank you, we will take care of this now.”

We left the scene to the security forces and started heading towards Sylvia’s bar.

    ***

I felt a little uncomfortable because I didn’t deal with them myself.

Does it feel like you didn’t properly clean up after something happened?

“Ah, Youngmin. Would you please give me that terminal?”

    “Here.”

Youngmin handed his device to me without the slightest resistance.

I went into the photo album again and checked the photos I had taken.

This was to check whether it came out correctly. But I accidentally passed over one more photo…

A photo of me smiling with a relaxed face popped up.

    ‘uh?!’

I didn’t know how to react. What was Youngmin’s intention in taking pictures of me being an intoxicant?

I was able to delete my photos by moving my hand faster than my eyes. However, I couldn’t ignore this.

    But to be honest, it’s a bit…

    “…here.”

I returned the terminal to Youngmin in a somewhat awkward tone.

Youngmin had no idea that the photos had been deleted.

After a while, we were able to safely return to Sylvia’s bar. Martin and other guests greeted us first.

There were other solvers from the Blue Heart Office who were not involved in the infiltration of this hideout.

“What, have you already finished the request?”

“Yes, it was finished quickly thanks to Chris and Sheila’s hard work.”

As Sylvia said that, she changed from her fixer’s outfit to a bartender’s outfit.

Then, we began calculating how to distribute the reward based on participation and merit in this request.

“Youngmin also helped us, so we will take that into consideration.”

    “Yes? Oh, I’m fine.”

Still, Youngmin said that he was a problem solver who was my guarantor and that he did not help me in return for anything in return.

“If Mr. Youngmin was from the same office as us, I wouldn’t know, but since he belongs to a different office, we need to be more certain about this.”

“Silvia is right. Even if you are okay, kid, your colleagues may not be.”

Youngmin couldn’t help but scratch his head at Sylvia and Johnny’s words.

“And anyway, if I reduce my share a little, there will be room.”

I perked up my ears at Sylvia’s remarks.

He then spoke while sitting on the chair next to the captain with Silas on his lap.

“Silvia, it’s okay if I take a little more of my share.”

“There is no need to give Chris his share. And this is the reward Chris receives for his first request.”

    “Eh, it’s okay.”

When I didn’t give up, Sylvia came to me for a moment and whispered in my ear.

“Chris, the other problem solvers in our office drink at this bar anyway… so in the end, all of their money ends up coming to me.”

    “…!”

    Sylvia has a plan!

Yes, by that logic, you wouldn’t lose anything even if you reduced your share and gave it to Youngmin.

    Meanwhile, Youngmin seemed somehow listless.

‘Did you even notice that I deleted the photo?’

    ***

A slightly awkward atmosphere continued between me and Youngmin.

    But even for a moment.

Jenny responded that the drug dealer’s hideout was successfully taken care of using Sylvia’s terminal, and that she was satisfied with the work done, confirming that more compensation had been deposited than she was supposed to receive.

    “…It’s a good thing, right?”

    “Of course, sister!”

Starting with Johnny and the other problem solvers, opinions began to emerge that they should eat and drink properly today since they received a decent amount of compensation.

Even so, when Sylvia asked Martin for something, Martin headed somewhere.

While me, Johnny, and Youngmin take over Martin’s vacancy…

When Martin returned, he had a familiar box of food in his hands.

    …chicken?

For your information, Maguspol’s chickens are not ordinary chickens. They are quadrupedal animals with four wings and four legs!

How can that be a chicken?

Think of it as a chicken with four legs and four wings.

In this case, the definition of chicken was no longer important.

    “Boss. This is enough, right?”

“Everyone will have enough to eat.”

As soon as Martin put the chicken box down on the table above the captain, Sylvia and Johnny started shaking the shaker.

    Chicken and alcohol…

    -Gulp.

This time, I boldly asked Sylvia for a drink using the same logic as last time.

As a result, there were new photos of me giving shots while holding a chicken leg like a microphone on Youngmin’s terminal.
