Chapter Index

I’m not very smart. I’m not particularly good at studying and I don’t prefer learning anything. Nevertheless, the number of other world languages taught by Arzen increased surprisingly quickly.

Learning the language was fun, and the thought that I must learn the language in order to live in this world in the future seemed to have been an opportunity to improve my language skills.

Or, it might be in line with the saying that if you have a foreign lover, you learn the language of that country quickly.

    “Wow…….”

Arjen was holding the paper and looking at it closely. The paper had Arjen’s problem and my answer written on it.

“Wow! You got it all right, Eugene!”

Arjen’s face turned bright red and he rushed at me. I checked the paper after receiving Arjen’s headbutt. The red ink that Arjen used when grading was all circled.

    “Oh, oh!”

I ran around holding Arjen in my arms. The area where I learned to speak the fastest was reading and writing, which was quite slow, so I had a hard time, but it finally paid off.

“It’s the common language of the continent, so you won’t have any problems communicating wherever you go! Ah…”

Arjen, who was happy with me, suddenly looked confused. I looked at her blankly, wondering why.

The answer that came back to me was very cute.

    “There’s no problem wherever I go… I’m not going anywhere…?”

Instead of answering, I massaged Arjen’s cheeks, whose expression turned sour.

“Where will I go if I leave Arzen behind?”

    “Woooo….”

As I continued to play with his cheek, Arjen’s words that were trying to say something were replaced by babbling. I kissed her lips, which were sticking out due to the pressure on her cheeks.

    “Wooo… Jooup, Jook…”

These days, we’ve been kissing all the time. Since Arjen kept pestering me so much, he got into the habit of doing it first, so there were more and more cases where I did it first.

The more it happened, the more Arjen liked it, so there was nothing particularly bad about it, but the problem was that every time they kissed Arjen, Rube and Kaela secretly wanted to do the same to themselves.

That’s why, no joke, we kiss a hundred times a day.

    “Uh… someone came.”

Arjen opened his mouth and suddenly said something unexpected. It seemed like someone had come to Rare and the automaton had sensed it.

    “Aren’t they dangerous customers?”

Why isn’t it there? Things like a group of adventurers or a group of warriors attacking Lair for the dragon’s treasure. Regardless of the genre, if there was a dragon in a work, nine times out of ten that dragon was a villain, so it was a natural concern.

    “No. They’re elves.”

    “Elf…?”

I tried to calm myself down from the excitement I felt for a moment. This was because I was curious about the beautiful appearance of the elf that had only been passed down in my imagination, and I felt that Arjen would somehow notice that my intentions were impure.

“Yes. These guys have a light and delicious taste.”

Actually, Arjen didn’t care at all and was just evaluating the taste of the elf he remembered. Rather than that, elf has a light, savory taste. It was information I didn’t really want to know.

“Ah, now that I think about it, it’s time for the elves to pay tribute. This is what I forgot last time.”

So, if I were to interpret what you said, it meant that when I came here, the elves had been offering elves to Arjen, just as humans had been offering humans to Arjen.

I erased from my mind one of the stereotypes about elves: ‘solidarity among members of the same race.’

    “Elves also offer living sacrifices…”

“Yes. Because criminals don’t discriminate between races.”

Those words also erased the stereotype that elves love peace from my mind. At the same time, I felt pitiful for my past self, who was sacrificed even though I was not a criminal.

Well, thanks to that, I got to meet Arjen, so it didn’t really matter.

If I think about it carefully, I found it funny that from my perspective, who was not given any abilities even though I came to this world, being offered up to Arjen was an ironic situation in which my chances of survival were the highest.

“, should I send it back?”

Arjen said while looking at me. Since elves are similar to humans, they seemed to be worried that I would be reluctant to eat them.

Strictly speaking, humans and elves are different, but they are similar. Moreover, since they will be able to communicate, they will feel the same discomfort as if they were eating a human.

However, I have doubts about whether it is right to control Arjen to that extent, and more than anything, I have never met an elf in person in the first place.

The conclusion is that we should meet in person and judge. I said to Arjen that my thoughts had gone up to that point.

“Let’s bring it in first. I want to see it in person, but I can send it back later.”

At those words, I was able to catch a slight blush on Arjen’s face. After all, telling even elves not to eat might have been too harsh on Arjen.

    “Huh…?”

Suddenly, Arjen tilted his head. It seemed like something was wrong.

    “Why, what’s wrong?”

“That’s not it… It’s not an offering, but there’s an elf who wants to meet me.”

    “Hmm…?”

I thought it was a really crazy elf. Although I liked Arjen and we couldn’t live without each other, I still knew the world’s opinion of Arjen. This is because when I read books to learn writing, there was a lot of information about Arjen.

It’s normal to just offer an offering and run away because you’re afraid of even meeting him, but when you ask for an audience, he loses his appetite as soon as the topic of elves comes up. Thinking about it from the perspective of Arjen watching from the side, the other person seemed like a crazy elf.

“Wow, you’re so annoying… Should I just kill you?”

“Can’t we meet? I want to hear what you’re trying to say.”

When I hinted at the request, Arjen reversed his opinion with the palm of his hand, as if asking for help.

“Yes! I was thinking of doing the same! Really!”

Unknown elf, I just saved your life.

“Then I’ll ask you to come in.”

You don’t go out directly. I followed Arjen to the throne room. Like a throne room, it boasted a grand interior centered around a red carpet. There was a large chair placed there, which anyone could see was Arjen’s seat.

    “Huh?”

As I was looking for a suitable place to stand, I thought the most plausible picture would be standing like a guard next to the chair where Arjen was sitting. As I stood there, Arjen expressed his doubts.

    “Why are you standing there?”

“No, there is only one chair. I’m Arzen’s guest, but I can’t sit down.”

    “Wow?”

Arjen looks like he doesn’t understand what I’m saying at all. I realized what she was thinking.

    “It’s not really like this…”

I sat on a chair and Arjen sat down on my lap. In a situation where all dignity and everything was destroyed, the long-awaited guest finally arrived.

    “Oh….”

As the door to the throne room opened, the woman who came in looked like she literally embodied the word ‘elf’. From the blonde hair to the long, pointed ears to the mainly green and white outfit, every single element seemed to declare, ‘I’m an elf.’

    ‘It’s pretty, but…’

Obviously, based on Earth’s standards, her appearance was so beautiful that most celebrities couldn’t even claim it. However, I was less impressed than I expected, but I think it was because I was already used to Arjen’s appearance.

Whatever it was, I decided to listen to the reason why I wanted to meet Arjen. Now, go ahead and say it. Today, I was just certified by Argen as being at the level of a native speaker in this world.

    “!@#%#!@%@$#.”

As I was listening intently, what I heard was a language I had never heard before. I looked blankly at Arjen.

“Heh? Ah, the common continental language is the language used among humans. Elves speak Elvish.”

I couldn’t hide my feeling of despair. No, if you’re going to call it the continent’s official language, shouldn’t it at least be able to communicate with everyone on the continent? There seems to be no interaction between humans and elves in this town.

“Really? What do you want to ask?”

I had no choice but to infer their conversation from Arjen’s words. At least it was fortunate that Arjen spoke in dragon language.

“Ah… You erased the human village last time?”

At that point, I was able to understand the reason why the elf visited. The time for them to offer tribute was approaching, and if they received information that the human village where they had recently offered tribute had been completely burned down, it seemed like the country would be curious and come visit.

‘Cancel the term ‘crazy elf’. ‘You have a lot of courage.’

There was a high possibility that the elf had come as a representative to ask that question, voluntarily or unwillingly. And if that’s the case, there’s no need to worry.

The reason I burned the village was to consider the possibility that my latent tuberculosis had spread to the village.

“That? It was something I had to do. It has nothing to do with you, so you don’t have to worry about it.”

Arjen only gave me fragmentary information, perhaps to hide my origins. It seemed like they decided to hide the truth, perhaps because they shouldn’t tell lies.

Of course, it was natural that the other elf’s expression turned into bewilderment upon hearing that answer.

Well, it seemed like the elves were having a lot of trouble because of me.
