Chapter Index

    “Jeff.”

A faint voice can be heard.

A voice that I’m somewhat familiar with now.

Shine’s soft voice tickles my ears.

    “Ugh… .”

An answer that came out while I was sleeping.

Blurry eyes still dig into the blanket.

    “Get up.”

My body is shaking from side to side.

My body was also small enough to be shaken by the gestures of a small girl.

Memories that are becoming clearer and clearer.

I sit on the bed, stroking my messy hair.

Shine takes care of the heavy hair that comes down.

He yawns lazily, leaning against her shoulder.

    “Ugh… .”

Stretch out your short legs and do some stretching.

The dangling legs tapped the side of the bed.

    “My head hurts.”

“Are you in a lot of pain?”

Words that came out as a grumble.

    She carefully strokes my hair.

    A little girl’s hand gesture.

I push Shine’s hand away, feeling a subtle sense of discomfort.

    “It’s okay now.”

A smile so fragile it seems like it could break.

The girl reflected in Shine’s eyes was smiling like that.

I quickly touch the corner of my mouth.

A small hand fiddles around and a smile appears.

Because I’m not used to my body, I feel it’s difficult to make facial expressions.

    “Is everyone awake?”

My gaze turns to the voice heard from the middle of the living room.

Amy, dressed in a black suit, sat on a plush sofa.

It was the first time I had seen her in a suit.

What did it feel like when you first met her?

Because I was only conscious of the light bursting out from my fingertips, I was completely unaware of her feelings.

    “Where are you going today?”

He jumps out of bed and asks Amy.

She looked down at her clothes and nodded in response to my question.

Her pink hair flutters with her movements.

“I’ve been busy taking care of you guys.”

Are you going to commit terrorism again?

    I wanted to ask that.

Immediately after that, blurry memories came back one after another due to the word [terror] that I swallowed.

The noise gets louder and the headache gets worse.

I frown and stroke my hair.

    “What’s this morning?”

Shine naturally comes up to me and sticks next to me.

    Her arms are entangled.

High body temperature typical of young children.

    Warm skin gently touches skin.

The noise subsides in an instant.

    Headaches also go away quickly.

The first thing that came to my mind was the thought of what to eat for breakfast today.

I head to the restaurant holding hands with Shine.

Amy, walking ahead, seems preoccupied with checking her constantly ringing cell phone.

I keep an eye on the cell phone in her hand.

The content of the message visible on the blurry screen.

I don’t know the exact details, but a few words flew into my head and stuck.

    District 15.

    Takeover.

    Amy’s phone disappears.

    I turn my gaze naturally.

Shine next to me looked at me with strange eyes, but I didn’t care.

    “Amy’s not here today?”

While eating, Shine asked a question.

Amy, who had been eating or not, raised her head and answered with a small smile.

“That’s right. I might not be able to come for the next few days.”

Shine seems to like Amy quite a bit.

    “You must come.”

The noise in my head stopped for a moment.

    Amy’s eyes go blank.

It was only for a very short time.

She immediately reverts back to her original Amy.

    “Of course.”

Amy pats Shine’s head with a bright smile.

I quickly get up from my seat.

The spoon and chopsticks in my hand roll across the floor, making a loud noise.

Shine’s gaze begins to turn towards me.

I looked at her with astonishment.

    “You… !”

    “Jeff?”

    My mouth is shut.

I got up from my seat and quickly got down from the chair… .

    I have to come down.

The hand that is caught has no intention of letting go.

    The noise is heard again.

    “I think Jeff’s hand hurts.”

I nod blankly at Shine’s words.

    My hand feels sore.

    My right hand was trembling.

It looks like he can’t hold chopsticks properly.

    “I think so.”

I answered Amy, stroking her trembling hands.

Amy, who had a surprised expression on her face, took out new cutlery from the cutlery holder next to the table and handed it to me.

The meal was satisfying, as always.

The noise that had been drawing high notes gradually subsides.

The sound of waves calming down.

The noisy noises that filled my head began to subside, and peace of mind came to my mind.

After finishing our meal, we headed to a huge auditorium.

    A wide open space.

Dozens of mechanical devices packed inside.

Still, it seems there is no shortage of vigorous movement.

    The machines are somewhat familiar.

Most of them are physical abilities and devices that verify and assist these abilities.

I figured out why Amy had brought us here.

“Are you going to let me go of this?”

    I raise my hand.

A silver bracelet glitters and shows off my appearance.

    “Jeff knows what this is.”

    Amy strokes my head.

The feeling of a big hand pressing down on my head and prodding it around wasn’t very pleasant.

I quickly got out of Amy’s hands.

    “There are no people.”

    Shine looked around and said.

As she said, it must have taken a lot of people to manage this large space.

There isn’t a single person in sight except us.

    “Today is a day off.”

    “Day off? Weekend?”

I realized from Amy’s words that I didn’t even know what day it was.

The information that can be obtained from a small girl’s body is very limited.

If I had at least a computer or a cell phone, this wouldn’t have happened.

“It’s okay because we only have one to use.”

Amy led us to a device made of a large circular dome.

Amy powered on the device and untied the bracelets on Shine and my arms.

A control tool that has been released so easily.

The cold silver bracelet came off, leaving a small mark on my wrist.

I was the first one to enter the device.

    [Jeff, can you hear me?]

Amy’s voice can be heard from all directions.

When I turned my gaze, I saw Amy waving her hand while holding the microphone in front of the controller.

    “Yes.”

    [Okay. Then release your power.]

    Release of power?

    I raise both my hands.

    The tingling sensation returns.

The manifestation of abilities that had been lost.

A blue current surges through my fingertips.

    Dismissal.

    Phagejik-

    I spread my arms.

Blue currents surge from the spread-out body.

A sizzling sound fills the space.

A huge electric current field is formed around the body.

White hair stands up in all directions.

The feet that were on the floor come to mind.

    [Jeff, are you okay?]

    “It’s very comfortable.”

    Release control of your abilities.

The electric current released from my body covers my vision, as if forgetting the noise that fills my head.

    Blue light falls everywhere.

    Dismissal-

    bang!

The light that was just a small noise flies away like a flash.

    bang!

    bang!

Blue lights striking the giant dome.

The light shot in a straight line is accompanied by a huge explosion.

    The snow turns white.

The feeling of being able to unleash your suppressed abilities is so appealing.

    The pleasant movement continues.

    [Jeff?]

A power that cannot normally be used.

There were always a lot of mechanical devices around me.

I never dared to imagine how much damage I would cause if I were to use my abilities in such a place.

    [You can stop now.]

I feel regretful when Amy tells me to stop.

Disperses the electric current that flows from the fingertips here and there.

Five lines of blue light flash.

It begins to suppress the ability to flow out of the body.

The body floating in the air slowly sinks down and the fluttering hair becomes calm.

I carefully move my tongue through the tingling sensation that remains in my mouth.

    The ability was still there.

    Nothing has changed.

    It’s just that I changed.

The changed body caused problems in the movement of electricity.

A new path that is not a familiar one.

The current that extends through that path is beyond my control.

Like the movements of an angry bull off the road.

    It’s so rough.

Traces carved into the glass walls of the huge dome come into view.

    [Come out.]

    I follow Amy’s instructions obediently.

My gaze never left the empty arm.

I stopped in my tracks just before I got out of the device.

My gaze is directed to where Shine is standing.

She was standing next to Amy and looking at me.

    I raise my hand.

As emotions build, blue lights appear between your fingers.

    “Jeff.”

    Shine smiles brightly.

I put my hand down and smiled back.

When I look at her smile, all my anxious feelings disappear in an instant.

She approaches Amy and Shine with light steps and bouncing steps.

    Amy hands me a bracelet.

I took the bracelet with a reluctant expression.

It’s so sad to wear a power control device with my own hands.

Once again, a bracelet was worn on my arm.

    “What are Jeff’s abilities?”

    Amy answered Shine’s question.

“The lightning-type ability, a high-grade judgment has been made. It is an uncommon ability, a very precious ability. It is also an ability that bad people are after.”

Shine comes up to me and links arms with me.

She wore a silver bracelet on her arm.

    “Then shall we go back?”

    “Huh?”

    “Why aren’t you coming?”

    Amy turns and walks away.

The document in her hand contained information about me and Shine.

Wait a minute. Didn’t you come here to test Shine and I’s abilities?

    The doubt was fleeting.

Shine came behind me and hugged me.

    A warm feeling is transmitted.

Her chin comes up onto my shoulder.

A soft, whispering voice flows out.

    “Jeff.”

    “Yeah… .”

“I have to go back and eat some snacks.”

    I shook my head.

I don’t want to eat sweets.

“I’ll drink cola instead of snacks.”

    Cook cook cook-

A small laughter is heard in my ear.

    Shine strokes my hair.

At the little girl’s gesture, I burrow into her arms like a delighted cat.

    “They get along really well.”

Amy, who was watching us from the front, says.

    I look at shine.

Her smiling eyes turn towards me.

    “Yes.”

    I answer.

    We get along well.

I agree with what she said.

    He nods belatedly.

Shine seemed to like my answer as she stepped forward and grabbed my hand.

The questions that had been floating in my head disappear.

I wanted to drink cola right now.

    A cold cola.

    Ice needs to float too.

    We leave the auditorium.
