Chapter Index

First, I need to make that woman let her guard down.

I put on the purest expression I could and opened my mouth.

    “Oh… what’s that…?”

“Oh? You don’t need to worry about that. Violet, you’ll be living with Unnie from now on anyway~”

The ponytail woman showed me a bundle of yellow envelopes.

“See this? These are Violet’s academy admission certificate and essential documents. Now all you have to do is take these with Unnie and submit them, and you’ll be an academy student.”

Right, that’s how it is. Suddenly, a question popped into my mind.

“Wow! But Unnie, I don’t have any money. It must cost a lot to get into the academy, so how were the tuition fees handled?”

“It’s okay~ The laboratory decided to pay for it. For now, the first semester’s tuition has been processed…”

The ponytail woman, who had been smiling brightly and continuing to speak, suddenly paused and looked at me.

“Violet, but were you always this articulate? And where’s your necklace…?”

“Well, let’s go find out by your mother’s side!”

    “What…? What in the…!”

Clone Unit 2, which I had secretly generated behind her, grabbed the ponytail woman firmly by the waist.

She looked at the clone, then my face, then my neck in sequence, and her face turned pale. Hey, it’s too late.

    “Die!”

    -Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!

I swung the alloy hammer I had teleported into the blanket and struck her face.

    “Aaaargh!!”

I struck her three, then four more times in a row, full of indignation.

    “This is for mocking me!”

    “Aaaargh!”

    I struck her head once.

“This is for taking my french fries!”

    “Aaah! My hand! Aaaagh!”

She tried to block with her arm, so I struck the back of her hand.

“You old hag! This is for making me keep calling you Unnie!”

I struck her snout once too.

    “Aaaah…!”

Finally, I struck the back of her head one more time. The ponytail woman fell, covered in blood.

Good. I don’t know if these are real admission documents, but I should keep them for now.

I put the documents into the sack the clone was holding and stepped out of the half-open door.

The plan, everything, had gone to hell. Oh well, who cares.

Since when did I ever live by meticulous plans? From now on, I’ll just do whatever I want.

Just then, as if on cue, someone activated the alarm, and a deafening siren blared through the hallway.

The sabotage on the second floor was successful. I retrieved Clone Unit 3, relieved. Multitasking is so hard.

Researchers, startled by the screams, were rushing over.

“Heavens..! Team Leader Eva-nim!.. You! Stop this riot!”

One researcher held a switch out at me.

Oh no, but I don’t have my necklace, do I?

I pulled out my pistol and pulled the trigger on the bewildered researcher.

    “Hello!”

    -Bang!

    “Aargh!”

The guy who was hit by my greeting tumbled down.

“Run! The test subject has a gun!”

    “Guards! Where are the guards!!”

The researchers started screaming at the top of their lungs and fleeing. I shot another bullet into the leg of the nearest one running away.

    “Aaah! Help me!”

To conserve bullets, I struck the back of the crawling, bleeding researcher’s head with the alloy hammer. Now it’s a bit quieter.

The clone and I took the lab coats they were wearing, put them on, and then ran hard again, shooting bullets into the backs of the researchers.

    “Aaah! Save me! No!”

    “Don’t come! Please don’t come!”

It’s fun shooting these. It feels less objectionable than hitting them directly.

I chased the researchers, running down the hallway, diligently swiping the keycard on the test subjects’ room locks.

    -Beep!

    -Beep!

People in patient gowns, awakened by the commotion, stumbled bewilderedly out of the open doors.

Now was the chance to leverage my beautiful maiden’s appearance and lovely voice.

I thought the saddest thoughts I could and wailed mournfully.

“Aaaah! The researchers are trying to kill us all! They’re saying they’ll dispose of us! We have to escape!”

The people who heard my desperate cries were agitated.

How could they not pay attention when a blood-soaked girl suddenly started screaming?

    “What, is that true…?”

“I knew it! These bastards intended to kill us all from the start!”

“But even if we get out of here, there’s no way to escape…!”

The people were agitated. I took out an electric switch, held it to people’s necks, and pressed the release button.

    “Ah! This bothersome necklace…!”

    “Kid! Thank you!”

    “Oh my god! It’s off!”

I picked up one of the electric necklaces the people had discarded. I might have a use for it later.

Just then, three guards came running. They seemed to have not yet grasped the situation, as they were only carrying batons. They were wearing bulletproof vests, so pistols probably wouldn’t work.

“Emergency! Emergency! Riot in progress! A large number of test subjects are attempting to escape!”

“Damn it! They’ve removed their necklaces!”

The people recoiled in fear at the sight of the guards.

Oh dear, do I have to set an example?

I had one tactic in mind for this very moment.

‘It’s called the Violet Stream Attack!’

First, I placed Clone Unit 2 in front of me. I had the clone hold a screwdriver. Then I injected Clone Unit 2 with an emergency recovery potion.

[* The recovery potion’s analgesic effect activates. Pain is reduced by 30%.]

I pressed closely behind the clone. Thanks to my small stature and the lab coat, from the front, only one girl was visible.

A strategy only I, a charming young girl, could pull off!

    “Everyone, charge!”

Leaving the others behind, I sprinted forward like a ninja, extending my arms.

“What are you? Stop! Stop right there!”

As I came face to face with the guard in front, Clone Unit 2 swung the hammer it was holding. The guard, with trained, skillful movements, struck the hammer away and kicked Clone Unit 2.

    “Aaaargh!”

Even with the analgesic effect, it still hurt. But it was tolerable.

Clone Unit 2 fell flat. I stepped on Clone Unit 2’s shoulder and leaped up.

    “Violet Stream Attack!”

“What?! There was another one behind…!”

The guard froze when he saw me suddenly pop out.

After leaping, I put my weight into it and thrust the screwdriver forward. The screwdriver pierced the guard’s collarbone.

    “Gah!”

I tumbled down, pinning the guard beneath me. I aimed the pistol at his face.

    “Eat this!”

    -Bang! Bang!

I took one down. Just then, a sharp pain shot through my side.

“It’s a gun! The test subject hag has a gun!”

The guy who followed kicked me. He tried to stomp on me. Clone Unit 2, who had fallen to the ground, tripped him by his leg, and he fell.

I emptied the pistol’s magazine at the guy running from the very back, and he hid behind a wall. Taking advantage of this moment, I leaped onto the body of the guard who had kicked me.

    “You die too!”

I repeatedly stabbed the screwdriver into the neck of the second guard, who was trying to shake off Clone Unit 2.

    “Just die already! Die!”

    “Graaah! Graaaah! Aaah!”

    Blood splattered onto my face.

The moment I got back up, the guard at the very back pulled out his pistol and aimed. Just as I was about to move Clone Unit 2 to block with its body—

    -Thud!

    “Ugh!”

The test subject ajusshis behind me rushed forward and struck him. The last guard was beaten by several people until he lost consciousness.

“You guys sure are quick to help… sheesh…”

When I glared at the people behind me, they awkwardly averted their gaze. I gasped for breath.

“If you want to live, follow me for now!”

The people, taken aback, began to run after me. A short while later, we reached the room where Kalia was imprisoned.

    -Clank!

When the door opened, Kalia stepped out with a bewildered expression.

“Wait, Violet. What is all this…?”

From her perspective, it must have been quite absurd.

I had suddenly retrieved my clone and left, only to return amidst a commotion, dragging a whole crowd of people. My face and clothes were also covered in blood.

    I opened my mouth casually.

“These people want to leave with us too! Let’s hurry and go downstairs!”

“O-okay? I don’t know what’s going on, but let’s get out of here quickly.”

Kalia and I led the people across the hallway towards the elevator.

Suddenly, Kalia’s words came to mind.

‘…I don’t think it’s right for innocent people to get caught up in what we’re doing.’

Sorry, Kalia. To get out of here, we don’t need to be picky about the means. And these people volunteered to come along, so there’s no problem.

As we ran to the elevator, I saw someone waiting anxiously in front of the door.

“Why isn’t the elevator coming?! No… you guys? Aaaargh!”

Oh, it was the chubby researcher who gave me french fries.

    “Ajusshi!”

    “Wait! You…?”

I ran forward, holding the gun.

    “Ajusshi! Let’s be secret friends!”

    -Bang!

I shot a bullet into the chubby man’s arm.

    “Aaah!”

I swung the pistol, threatening him.

“Ajusshi! Are you going to be my friend? Or not?”

“I will! I will! I will, so please don’t shoot!”

The chubby researcher pleaded, clutching his bleeding arm. I turned my head to Kalia.

“I’m going to take him hostage, is that okay?”

“This fat pig? He’s big, perfect to use as a shield. Those Laplaxian bastards deserve this kind of treatment.”

Kalia shrugged. I swiped the keycard on the security device located at the elevator platform.

    The elevator doors opened wide.

“Alright, let’s go down now! To the second floor!”

“Wait, is it okay to go down like this? If the alarms are blaring this loudly, there’s definitely armed personnel waiting below to catch us.”

“It’s fine! Downstairs is a mess. You’ll see.”

    We boarded the elevator.

A moment later, when the doors opened—

    -Rat-a-tat-tat!

    -Roar!

    -Bellow!

    “Subdue them! Quickly!”

“A riot has broken out on the third floor too!”

    “Aaah! Save me!”

We could see the laboratory’s second floor, which had become a chaotic mess with released monsters.

    “Let’s go!”

With Kalia and me in the lead, the people rushed out of the elevator.
