Chapter Index

I spent some time playing games with Ramonax.

I was so shocked by the guy’s natural behavior as if he were a normal friend that I almost laughed.

The snacks you bought me are delicious, but they are still burdensome.

“Will you come again next time?”

    “If you allow me?”

I avoided eye contact and rustled the bag of chips in my hand.

This was because I felt an inexplicable sense of intimidation from the face of the tall guy looking down at me.

    “I hate it.”

“Then can we eat lunch and dinner together?”

    “That’s okay.”

    Ramonax waved and walked away.

I watched him walk to the end of the hallway, then closed the door and climbed onto the bed.

I don’t usually enjoy eating sweets, but this is quite delicious.

Crispy potato chips crumble in your mouth, releasing a salty flavor.

I just sit there blankly, eating snacks and watching television.

The news showed the activities of a group that refuses to allow human experiments on people with abilities.

I clicked my tongue as I watched them wander around terrorizing a perfectly good research lab.

I threw the bag of leftover chips on the table and lay down on the bed.

The thought occurred to me that I should brush my teeth before going to bed, but my body would be gone in a week anyway.

I buried my face in the soft pillow and closed my eyes.

I woke up early in the morning and checked my watch.

It seemed that habits do not easily disappear even when the body changes.

I woke up much earlier than my work hour, went into the shower room and took a quick shower.

Warm water flowed down, pouring down on her long hair.

The white hair is soaking wet.

Having long hair can be quite uncomfortable.

I roughly applied shampoo and conditioner to my hair, washed it, and lathered it up with a soft sponge to wipe my body.

As I was washing my unfamiliar body with my short arms, I felt like I was washing someone else.

After rinsing off the foam, wrap your body in a large towel and get out.

Water dripped down from my heavily flowing hair onto the floor, but I ignored it.

Sit on the bed and dry your hair with a towel.

In the past, even if you just roughly brushed it, the moisture would have evaporated quickly, but long hair did not dry quickly.

    I think I might need a hairdryer.

I got out of bed and headed to the dresser.

There were basic necessities, so there would be a hairdryer too.

When I opened the drawer, my prediction was correct.

Inside, there was a hairdryer that was a little too big for my use, that is, for this body to use.

He took out the hair dryer with a clumsy gesture and plugged in the cord.

    Wheeing-!

A hot wind blows across my face.

In an unimaginable century, our eyes and mouths close.

I slowly turned my hand to change the direction of the wind, and my damp hair began to flutter in all directions, sending water droplets flying.

Even though I hadn’t been holding it for that long, my wrist started to hurt.

I gave up on drying my hair because my hands were so clammy and threw the hair dryer into the corner.

I put on my underwear and clothes and put on a blue lab coat over them.

He also wore his employee card around his neck without fail and checked his appearance in the mirror.

A girl is shown standing with a tired-looking expression.

Only a day had passed. I couldn’t get used to this sight.

The girl, standing awkwardly, forces a smile by pulling up the corners of her mouth with her fingers.

    It’s better than I thought.

Is it because the original is pretty?

I thought that if the subject had grown up in a normal home instead of here, he would have made different expressions, but I shook my head to dismiss that thought.

Sympathy is not a very good emotion.

She raised her hands and waved her white hair in all directions.

I quite liked the rustling, scattering texture.

    But what’s uncomfortable is uncomfortable.

It would have been nice if I could just cut it off with scissors, but I left it as a regret because the contract included a clause that said I couldn’t damage this body arbitrarily.

I took the lanyard that connected my employee card out of a small box on the table.

The length is just right so it looks useful.

She bit the string with her mouth, put both hands over her head, and pulled her hair back.

She held the clump of hair in place with one hand and took the hair tie she was holding in her mouth with the other hand and began to tie her hair.

Although you can still see the hair sticking out here and there, I quite like the fact that the feeling of hair tickling my cheeks is gone.

It was quite comfortable because even when I shook my head from side to side, only the hair hanging behind me like a tail moved.

    Just leave the room.

I wasn’t really the type to eat breakfast regularly, but I felt quite hungry, maybe because my body had changed.

As you exit the hallway of the accommodation and turn to the side, you will see a large convenience store.

I thought it would be a good idea to buy some bread or triangle kimbap and take it with me.

As I entered the convenience store, an employee on duty greeted me with a tired-looking face.

I simply wave my hand and look around inside.

I’ve been working here for a year, but this is my first time coming to a convenience store inside the lab.

Compared to the convenience stores outside, they had everything except a few different items.

As I looked around, I began to worry.

    Bread or kimbap?

If it were me, I would have bought both, but my stomach, which had shrunk considerably, knew I wouldn’t be able to eat them all.

It’s better to have more than enough.

Thinking so, I picked up a long, large mocha bun and even carried a small carton of milk in my arms.

After finishing the calculation, I leave the convenience store with a black envelope dangling.

Even so, there is still time left.

Since the commute from my home to the lab was quite long, I had that much free time.

In that case, I thought it would be better to borrow a book to read in the lab.

The institute boasted a high level of employee welfare.

There is also a library inside that you can borrow with your employee card, so it would be hard to find a better place.

As I was visiting the library, I picked up a few short stories to pass the time.

    The book was quite heavy.

I thought it would be a good idea to bring a bag next time you come.

The interior of the library was deserted.

Given the times, most people would prefer e-books.

This is something that happens when you live in an era where analog sensibilities are lacking.

The librarian was also nodding off.

When I approached him and placed the book and employee card on him, he finally blinked and looked around.

    “Lend me some money.”

The librarian’s eyes turned to me and then to the employee card.

The librarian, who had been staring intently at the employee card I had secretly picked up, looked down at me once again.

    “Mr. Jeff?”

    “Yes.”

    “Is this really Mr. Jeff?”

“Then, was there another Jeff besides me?”

The librarian looked at me with a curious look and scanned the barcode attached to the book cover.

I heard a couple of beeps, then the book was finished and I was handed my employee card and a book.

    “What is it?”

    “What is it?”

“No, how did you end up like that?”

    “Something like that just happened.”

Please don’t ask any more questions.

Since he avoided eye contact like that, the librarian didn’t ask any more questions.

Instead, he just handed me a candy.

    “Would you like some candy?”

Before I could even answer, my hand naturally reached out and caught the candy.

    It tastes like peanuts… .

    “See you tomorrow.”

I said goodbye like that and left the library.

It seemed quite novel to see a girl in a blue gown walking around with books and convenience store bags dangling from her hands.

I didn’t expect the eyes of the employees passing by in the hallway to fall.

As I headed to the subject’s room, I noticed that the lights were on in Dr. Heblum’s laboratory.

It was shocking that the fat guy showed up for work at such an early hour.

Shouldn’t it be time to go home and snore?

With that in mind, I entered Dr. Hebrum’s lab.

    “Doctor?”

In the brightly lit laboratory, there was no middle-aged, chubby guy I was looking for.

Instead, the person sitting in Dr. Heblum’s seat was someone I had seen a few times from afar.

An older gentleman neatly dressed in a black suit.

    “Huh?”

He was looking through Dr. Heblum’s papers and our eyes met.

    My body stiffens.

The sudden appearance of the director of the research institute was unexpected.

    “I see you’re Jeff.”

    “Net… !”

    My tongue was chewed.

Tears well up in my eyes at the cold pain.

    He knew me.

Perhaps, this incident was an order from the director of the research institute.

    I greeted him urgently.

    “Hello!”

The forceful sound sounded like the sobbing of a young girl.

The director of the research institute smiled slightly and waved his hand.

“It’s okay. You don’t have to be so strong.”

A cold sweat runs down my back.

It was only natural that I met the highest person in this institute.

Behind the kindly smiling face, a cold, frozen face comes to mind.

I still can’t forget the way he would clearly order punishment for anything that was done wrong.

“Yeah, Jeff. Did anything in particular change?”

The director of the research institute asked, shaking the documents I had sent him.

    My eyes are spinning.

I opened my mouth without fail and barely managed to answer.

“Nothing has changed in particular… . Because I don’t say anything.”

    “What else?”

“The gaze that was always looking into the distance turned towards me… .”

The director of the research institute nodded at my words.

Judging by his interest in the test subject girl, it seemed like the girl’s abilities were quite remarkable.

“Then thank you for your hard work. When Dr. Heblum comes, I will tell him that I visited.”

    “Yes!”

The director of the research institute got up from his seat and disappeared.

    A rare teleportation ability user.

It was an ability I had never seen before in real life.

Even though the director of the research center was gone, I was unable to move for quite some time.

Because I was worried that maybe he was hiding somewhere and watching me.

After looking around, I approached Dr. Heblum’s seat and left a note.

Since he was leaving for work quite some time later, it would have been better to leave a note.

The director of the research institute is visiting.

Small hands made it difficult for him to write properly.

I smiled awkwardly at the crooked writing and added below.

    Jeff went too.

The blank space on the paper was a little boring.

I left Dr. Heblum’s laboratory with a pig in a white coat drawn underneath.
