Chapter Index

Yu-shin Jeong, 23 years old, fell into another world.

    It was sudden.

It was on the way home after buying cigarettes and drinks at a convenience store at dawn.

A time when everyone was asleep.

Yu-shin Jeong stood in the middle of the road and put a cigarette in his mouth.

    Chiiik Chiiik.

    The lighter wouldn’t light.

    “Hey, why not?”

He got annoyed and pulled the lighter one more time, and then it lit.

He lit the cigarette and sucked on the filter, filling his lungs with smoke.

    “Hoo. Huh?”

When he raised his head and exhaled cigarette smoke, he realized. That he was standing in the middle of a forest.

Women with long, beautiful ears were kneeling on the floor, tied with ropes.

Those people resembled the race called elves, described in books and movies. When he turned his head, he saw fierce-looking humans standing next to him. They looked even more menacing with swords and bows.

A one-eyed man looked at Yu-shin Jeong and asked cautiously.

    “Who are you?”

“Who are you? Where is this?”

    “….”

The men looked at him with suspicious eyes. But they didn’t move.

“Where is this? I was clearly on my way home. Kehk.”

With a bang, the back of his head became hot. The floor rushed towards his eyes. As his mind flickered and darkened, he heard a frivolous voice from behind.

    “Boss! I caught him.”

“It was a foolish magician. Good job.”

    Yu-shin Jeong lost consciousness.

    Clatter, clatter.

Yu-shin Jeong opened his eyes to the shaking. A gag was in his mouth, and his hands and feet were tied in shackles. His neck was stiff, probably because he had been bowing his head for quite a long time.

    “Um um.”

Looking around, there were elves. They also had gags in their mouths. They were staring at the floor of the wagon with dead eyes.

    Clatter!

The wagon stopped and a rough voice rang out.

    “We’re camping here today!”

“I’m going to die. So tough, so tough.”

He could hear people grumbling around him.

    Squeak.

The back door of the wagon opened and the one-eyed man from earlier appeared.

“Drag that magician out. We need to interrogate him.”

When the one-eyed man ordered, two young men next to him stepped forward and dragged Yu-shin Jeong out of the wagon.

The men dragged Yu-shin Jeong out roughly and threw him to the ground.

    “Woop!”

    Sreureung.

A sharp longsword was aimed at Yu-shin Jeong’s neck.

“Listen, magician. If you say the wrong thing, you’re dead. Don’t even think about using magic.”

The gag that was blocking Yu-shin Jeong’s mouth was removed.

    “I’m not a magician.”

    “Then what is this artifact?”

The one-eyed man took out a lighter.

“That’s a tool used to light fires.”

    “How do you use it?”

“You turn the round wheel part and press the button.”

The one-eyed man went through several trials and errors and soon was able to make a fire with the lighter.

“Ha! This is a very interesting thing. But you’re saying you’re not a magician?”

“What is a magician? Where is this, anyway?”

The one-eyed man burst out laughing.

    “This bastard is really funny.”

    “Excuse me?”

“Friend, let’s think logically. If a guy who suddenly fell from the sky isn’t a magician, then what is he? Do I look like a joke to you?”

    His head throbbed.

The one-eyed man’s tone became increasingly fierce.

‘Should I just tell the truth?’

Looking at the one-eyed man’s expression, it didn’t seem like he would believe him.

    “Answer me.”

    Yu-shin Jeong swallowed.

“I think I came from another world. I don’t know either.”

    “Kyahahaha!!”

    “Hahaha!”

The one-eyed man and his subordinates burst into laughter.

They laughed loudly for a while at what was so funny.

The one-eyed man stopped laughing and grabbed Yu-shin Jeong’s hair.

    “Kneel.”

The subordinates kicked Yu-shin Jeong’s knee joints and made him kneel on the floor. The one-eyed man put a chillingly shining sword to Yu-shin Jeong’s Adam’s apple.

“Do you know what I hate most after hunting slaves for ten years?”

    “…..”

His body froze at the sudden threat to his life.

“It’s people who lie. ‘I am this kind of person.’ ‘I am that kind of person.’ ‘I have this ability.’ ‘I have that ability.’ Anyway, people who say they are valuable so release me, let me go, and save me.”

    The man continued.

“Liars are people who have a very poor ability to see themselves objectively. They are full of unfounded confidence that they can deceive everyone else.”

    The one-eyed man continued.

“Magician, if you’re going to deceive others, at least put in some effort.”

“I’m telling you the truth! I just fell from another place!!”

    The one-eyed man smirked.

“This magician is out of his mind. It looks like he’s buying time because he thinks his colleagues are coming to save him, but it’s too late. Goodbye.”

    “Shit.”

The blade dug into his Adam’s apple. The one remaining eye of the one-eyed man was indifferent.

Am I going to die like this?

    Whoosh. Thwack!

An arrow that flew from somewhere pierced the one-eyed man’s head. He couldn’t even scream and fell straight down.

    “Boss!”

    “It’s an ambush!”

The men lay flat on the ground and quickly crawled towards their weapons and shields.

But the arrows were faster. Every time they heard the sound of the air being cut, they heard screams.

    Thump!

A large wolf beastman landed in front of Yu-shin Jeong, who was kneeling.

    “Don’t move a hair, human.”

    “Excuse me?”

A wolf beastman with red ears and a tail, began to walk out of the forest in the darkening sunset.

    “Ms. Karin, I found them.”

The beastman, called Karin, wagged her tail.

    “Untie them.”

Several beastmen who had followed Karin went into the wagon.

    Clang! Clang! Clang!

The sound of shackles breaking could be heard several times. Everyone in the wagon was released.

    “Keueung.”

The red wolf beastman stretched her arms up high. The upper part of her ample breasts seemed to burst out of her leather armor.

The situation was quickly resolved. Ten sturdy wolf beastmen gathered and cut down the humans hit by the arrows with their swords.

There were many screams, but few sounds of swords clashing, and no groans.

Yu-shin Jeong, who came from modern times, also felt it. That there was a huge difference in skill between the slave hunters and those wolf beastmen.

    Thud.

Human heads rolled and fell in front of Yu-shin Jeong’s eyes.

“Black hair? Why is a northern barbarian here?”

Yu-shin Jeong, who was kneeling, raised his head.

A red-haired wolf beastman was looking down at him with her arms crossed. Was her name Karin?

    “Bend over.”

A rough hand grabbed Yu-shin Jeong’s head and slammed it into the floor.

    “Keuk.”

Because the blood flowing from the necks of the slave hunters was flowing on the floor, Yu-shin Jeong’s face was covered in blood.

The hunters’ blood had a bitter and sticky taste of iron.

    “Speak.”

As the hand gripping the back of his head grew stronger, Yu-shin Jeong’s head dug deeper into the floor.

“Randolph, take your hand off his head.”

    “But Ms. Karin.”

    “Randolph.”

    “Understood.”

When the strength in the hand was released, Yu-shin Jeong raised his head.

“So, are you not going to talk? What is a barbarian from the north doing here?”

    Barbaroi.

    It means barbarian.

They already defined him as a person from this world.

He saw elves and beastmen. He couldn’t deny reality when they presented evidence in front of his eyes.

    He fell into another world.

People treated this fact as a kind of joke.

He refused to walk the same path as before.

He didn’t want to be threatened with his life anymore.

Especially in front of an opponent stronger than the slave hunters.

It is right to give a safe answer.

“I was caught walking in the forest.”

    “Ha!”

Karin snorted. Then she picked up the lighter that the one-eyed man had dropped.

    Click. Click.

Karin easily made a fire with the lighter.

“Interesting. Randolph, release this human’s chains.”

    “Yes.”

A short answer. As soon as a chilling sound of tearing through the air was heard, Yu-shin Jeong’s hands and feet were freed.

“Okay, human. Let’s go our separate ways. I’ll take this artifact.”

Karin put the lighter in her pocket and led the elves and wolf beastmen out of the clearing in the forest.

Yu-shin Jeong released his kneeling position and sat down on the floor. He wiped his mud- and blood-covered face with his palms. Looking around, there were only severed necks and bodies, and he was the only one alive.

“So spicy, so spicy. Fucking another world.”

He had no idea why he fell into another world.

    “Status window!”

    Nothing came to mind.

    “Status.”

    Silence.

“Your mother. You fucking piece of shit.”

Yu-shin Jeong got up from his seat. He couldn’t just sit still. He had to gather supplies and survive. He could only solve the mysteries if he was alive.

He searched the headless corpses. He packed pouches containing copper and silver coins, water, jerky, and hard bread into his bag.

He took off the hard leather armor that was in the best condition and put it on. It was quite easy to take off since there was no neck.

He grabbed a bastard sword among the intact weapons, wore it around his waist, and held a round shield in his left hand.

He was about to leave the clearing, but it was already dark around him. Night had come.

He had the courage to calmly look at the severed heads, but he didn’t have the courage to go through the forest on a moonless night.

He should spend tonight in the wagon. Yu-shin Jeong thought so and went inside the wagon.

    * * *

Night passed and dawn broke. Yu-shin Jeong opened the wagon door and came out.

The surroundings were the same as yesterday. Headless corpses scattered everywhere.

Yu-shin Jeong sat down on the floor and leaned against the wagon wheel.

    Gurgle.

His stomach was sticking to his back.

He drank water from the canteen and chewed on a piece of jerky to satisfy his hunger.

    Where should I go?

He felt suffocated by the despair.

    Slap!

Yu-shin Jeong slapped himself on the cheek.

“After leaving the forest, to the nearest village.”

He spoke out loud about what he had to do. He decided to think about the rest then.

Yu-shin Jeong got up from his seat, packed his luggage, and did not set off on an adventure into the dense forest.

Instead, he walked back along the wagon wheel tracks. Because he thought safety was more important than adventure.

The two horses that pulled the wagon were taken away yesterday by the red-haired wolf woman named Karin and the giant male wolf beastman. His name was Randolph. He couldn’t forget the name of the guy who smeared his face with blood-soaked mud.

They also seemed to have gone back along the wagon wheels, as there were hoof prints.

    Yu-shin Jeong frowned.

He didn’t feel comfortable because he looked like he was following Karin’s group. Still, he was confident that it was not a bad choice. He walked for a long time. How long had it been, about three or four hours in terms of sensation?

Instead of the smell of grass, he smelled a fishy smell of blood.

Yu-shin Jeong immediately pulled out the bastard sword from his waist.

His body trembled with tension at the weight different from a kitchen knife.

He went into the bushes next to the road where the wagon had passed and moved as slowly as possible.

The misery on the road quickly caught his eye.
