Episode 35: Making Connections in Prison
by Afuhfuihgs
The prison that holds the inmates separates men and women.
So, Babiyeon, Horizon, and Miren were dragged to different prisons than me.
Miren was taken away separately, probably because she wouldn’t let go of Kallen’s head.
It seemed they judged that she had something wrong with her mental state.
Bandal had a severe head injury.
Still, this other world has some last shred of decency.
Since Bandal’s identity was confirmed as a pioneer for the time being, they still took him to a medical facility.
A formal soldier will be detaining him there until the situation is confirmed.
So, what happened to me, the most normal one?
Needless to say.
I was immediately dragged to prison and locked up.
Because thanks to the revival magic, I was the most normal person in the world!
Always grateful. Revival magic!
After managing to smash the criminals’ plans and escape, I end up in prison.
If only Babiyeon had kept her mouth shut, they would have confirmed my identity and released me quickly.
The fact that she’s a disciple of the Crimson Monarch made things even more complicated.
It was clear that we would be treated as accomplices and wouldn’t be released easily.
“……I didn’t even earn any money.”
To think that I’d waste a day of my precious month like this.
It just gives me a headache.
Leaning against the dark and cool prison wall, distracting thoughts disappear.
Life is truly not easy.
Swallowing my bitter resentment towards Babiyeon, I glanced around.
These uncivilized otherworlders don’t know how to distinguish between victims and perpetrators.
Thanks to that, the criminals from earlier were also in the prison I was locked in.
The guys who threw themselves out of the exit to escape Arachne.
They were gathered behind me, whispering something.
Causing a disturbance inside the prison can be subject to immediate punishment.
An era where immediate executions are rampant, which is much more efficient than locking up criminals and wasting taxes.
Fortunately, the criminals didn’t cause any trouble even in here.
So, I leaned against the wall where the light didn’t reach and remained silent.
The criminal bastards didn’t seem to recognize me.
I guess Arachne was more memorable than me in that urgent situation.
“What are we going to do now?”
“We shouldn’t have trusted those Black Dawn bastards…….”
The prison isn’t very big.
So, I could hear their conversation clearly.
Black Dawn.
As soon as they were mentioned, my brow furrowed.
The criminals’ plan clearly seemed to have some purpose.
But to think that Black Dawn was involved again.
So, is this a type of terror that Black Dawn is causing?
What reason would they have to use criminals to tie up pioneers in the 2nd World?
After thinking carefully, I could only come up with one thing.
The fact that formal soldiers will be deployed when the 2nd World opens in the future.
The nameless killer who appeared earlier.
And even the criminal group’s terror.
The two consecutive incidents have made the formal soldiers sensitive.
If Black Dawn is even involved, they won’t be able to ignore the incidents happening in the 2nd World.
So, there’s a high probability that a patrol team will be formed in the 2nd World by the formal soldiers.
Considering the danger of the 2nd World, they can’t form it at a half-assed level.
In all likelihood, some of their forces will have to be consumed for patrolling the 2nd World.
Is Black Dawn aiming for a dispersion of forces?
I don’t know what kind of picture those bastards are drawing yet.
“It’s our fault for trusting those bastards. We shouldn’t have associated with the transferred ones.”
“Haa, we’re going to be executed, right?”
“Wait, we don’t know yet.”
Among the criminals who were naturally expecting execution, one opened his mouth.
He was the one who had been unusually quiet compared to the other criminals.
“There’s a rumor that there’s someone among the formal soldiers who’s cooperating with Black Dawn.”
“What, really?”
“Quiet, lower your voice. So, there’s a high possibility that that bastard will get us out.”
“But honestly, why would he bother with us?”
“This was quite a commotion. If they release not only us but all the other criminals, they can show the world the incompetence of the formal soldiers.”
“Well, the Black Dawn bastards hate the formal soldiers like crazy.”
“So, let’s just wait a bit.”
There’s a Black Dawn collaborator among the formal soldiers.
Hearing that, the Crimson Monarch came to mind, and I frowned for no reason.
Just how far are those Black Dawn bastards reaching?
This damn other world is already a lawless zone and a mess, but the judicial system was shaking because of Black Dawn.
Thanks to one criminal’s statement, the criminals became quiet.
They all looked like they were dreaming of escape.
That being said, there’s nothing I can really do.
I’m just quietly leaning against the wall and sitting down.
I was just waiting to be proven innocent and released as soon as possible.
“Hey, you.”
Then, a voice came from the front.
When I stealthily shifted my gaze, a man with a thick beard was sitting in the opposite cell.
He’s quite bulky.
He’s wearing his clothes haphazardly, but the muscles revealed through the gaps showed his training.
Is it because I’ve seen so many strong people so far?
This man is strong.
He flashed dark black eyes through his long hair.
“Did you rent this place? Shut your mouth, it’s noisy.”
Hearing the next words, the criminals looked at each other’s faces.
Then, they made expressions as if they were wondering if he was talking to them.
“Hey, are you talking to us right now?”
“I guess he’s a deaf bastard, that’s why his voice is so loud.”
The criminals instantly became deaf.
The faces of the criminals, who finally realized that the insult was directed at them, turned fierce.
Regardless, the man let out a long yawn.
“If you interrupt my nap time one more time, I’ll kick you out to a place other than this prison, so shut your mouths.”
“Is this bastard crazy!”
“Why don’t you give it a try!”
The criminals immediately clung to the bars and screamed at the top of their lungs.
Then, the man looked at them with half-closed eyes and got up from his seat, shuffling.
With each other trapped in cages.
The criminals had nothing to fear whether he got up or not.
Kkiiiiiik-
That was until he opened the cell door as if it were nothing.
The cell door wasn’t locked from the beginning.
That is, the man wasn’t detained from the beginning.
Now that I see it, there was no one in the opposite cell.
He was just lying down on the floor, sleeping peacefully by himself.
There were no other criminals in the first place.
Clang-
The cell that the man walked out of closed again.
As he stretched, the sound of his body loosening up echoed.
“The prison doesn’t get much light and it’s cool because it’s underground, so it’s perfect for sleeping, but it’s too noisy.”
He slowly stroked his bearded chin and grinned.
Accordingly, the criminals’ faces slowly began to change.
The statements they made a little while ago.
The man heard all those statements.
I could guess the identity of the man who could freely enter and exit the prison without even trying.
This human is a formal soldier.
And a weirdo who sleeps in prison.
“Still, I really like that there are things that come in and tell me such interesting stories sometimes.”
And the criminals ended up saying in front of him that they were related to Black Dawn.
“W-wait a minute.”
“Formal Soldier-nim, that’s not what we meant!”
Just as the criminals were about to hurriedly make excuses.
Kwaaaang!
The floor shook greatly with the explosion that came from above.
Shouts echoed from outside in succession, and the sound of footsteps moving busily could be heard.
Apparently, something had happened.
Accordingly, the man also looked up.
In that gap, I could see a criminal taking something out of his mouth.
I don’t know how they store it, but I instinctively realized it.
That’s an object that will harm the man.
I kicked off the floor and threw my body towards the criminal as it was.
“Huh?!”
The criminal, who didn’t expect me to suddenly rush at him, collided with me as he was and rolled on the floor.
Accordingly, the object he took out of his mouth also rolled on the floor.
It was a small poison needle launcher.
I knew the criminals were dangerous, but I didn’t expect them to even have poison needles in their mouths.
I should be careful about things like this when dealing with people from now on.
The poison needle launcher that fell on the floor was crushed and broken as it was.
I don’t think I can use that anymore.
“What the hell are you doing!”
The criminal who was entangled with me shouted while swinging his fist.
When I got up from my seat before getting hit even more, the remaining criminals were glaring at me.
They were full of murderous intent, as if they were about to rush at me and kill me right away.
But they didn’t know.
I may not know anything else, but I have an eye for people.
Especially.
“Isn’t that what I should be saying?”
I definitely distinguish the bastards who never tolerate attacks directed at themselves.
Kkiiiiiik-
The formal soldier man had already opened the prison door using a key.
Seeing that, the criminals immediately turned towards the man.
Now that it’s come to this, they were planning to carry out a melee attack.
“Is this idiot opening the door for us?”
“Damn, what a moron.”
“Kill him!”
The criminals started rushing at the man all at once.
Looking at them, the man stood there calmly and pulled his hand out of his pocket.
“Why do you always think violence is.”
Soon, the man stretched out his foot.
“Something that only belongs to you.”
His outstretched hand cleanly struck the criminal’s chin.
And with that, the man’s head exploded.
Kwaaaang!
The explosion shook the inside of the prison.
Due to the explosion, the remaining three criminals who were rushing at him also rolled on the floor.
Kung-
At the same time, a criminal fell next to the man.
His head was burned black.
It was as if he had been hit by fire magic.
That’s an ability.
Now that I see it, this man doesn’t have an iris in his eyes.
The condition of a part of his body disappearing and an ability.
He’s a Nameless One.
The man rummaged through his clothes and took something out.
It was a pair of black sunglasses.
It looked like special sunglasses that had been magically treated.
As he put on his sunglasses and swept back his hair, the criminals’ faces began to turn white.
It was because his appearance was familiar.
One of them opened his frozen lips.
“F-Formal Soldier Lieutenant General, Inferno.”
There are a total of ten lieutenant generals staying in the capital, Valterion.
No one thought that one of them would be lying down in prison.
The formal soldiers were originally a private organization created during the war.
However, they signed an agreement with the imperial family and were formally appointed as soldiers, responsible for the security of the entire world.
That is, if they’re a lieutenant general.
It meant that they could legally eliminate criminal bastards at any time.
“Okay, let’s hear their stories to their heart’s content when they come to their senses later.”
“W-wait a minute!”
The criminals tried to run away, but this was a prison.
The only way out was blocked by Inferno.
The criminals pleaded with or begged Inferno, but his hands were merciless.
They were not enemies that could be dealt with at the criminal level.
Inferno brutally blew up the heads of all the criminals.
He especially broke the legs and arms of a few of them.
Then, he went to the prison entrance, leisurely, as if to find out about the commotion from earlier.
“Hmm.”
As I was quietly watching him, Inferno looked this way.
“Hey, you there.”
He’s calling me.
I didn’t want to get caught up in that explosion for no reason, so I got up from my seat.
“Follow me.”
“Is it okay to just take someone locked up in prison like this?”
Inferno stared for a moment over his sunglasses and then chuckled.
“The bastards who think they’re innocent always act like you.”
It seems he wasn’t just sleeping in prison for nothing.
“And what if you really committed a crime?”
Inferno clenched and unclenched his fist.
I immediately realized what that meant.
It probably meant that he would be executed immediately if his guilt was revealed.
In the first place, it didn’t seem like I could find a gap and escape from him, who was a formal soldier lieutenant general.
It would be faster for him to blow me up than for me to run away.
“Follow me. I’ll repay you for trying to protect me. It seems like the young lady who came with you caused a problem.”
Damn it, I wondered why he was taking me.
That troublemaker Babiyeon was the protagonist of the explosion from earlier.
