EP1. Strange Phenomenon Adaptation Period-2

Adaptation to the Abnormal Phenomenon – 2
“Weren’t you the one crying so pathetically just now?”
Now she’s glaring at me as if I’m the enemy of her family. Even if I wanted to gloss over it, it was hard to speak easily after being stabbed in the gut like lamb skewers a moment ago.
What if she’s crazy like that other one?
And so, we faced each other in silence. It was like a scene from a Western movie, with her hand on her holster, waiting for the noon bell.

Breaking the suffocating silence, a clear notification sound rang out, and a window appeared in front of me.
[Guidance on Dimensional Shift – 1]
Guidance on Dimensional Shift…
[Dimensional Shift occurs when you die in the current dimension or fall into an irreversible coma.]
As I was wondering what this meant, the pigeon’s words came to mind.
[Travel through infinite dimensions until you find the dimension you desire.]
That goddamn pigeon…
So, if what it says is true, I was stabbed to death earlier and shifted here? Well, I guess I couldn’t have survived after spilling all my guts.
Then this is another dimension.
What, this dimension is no different from Earth? And it seems to be Korea. Is this some kind of multiverse thing? What a terribly convenient setting.
“Why aren’t you saying anything? Who is Lee Hye-jung?”
Ugh, I want to think calmly for a bit, why are you keep talking and making a fuss? I’m already feeling troubled enough.
“Ah… is it because I slept for so long? I think I got it mixed up with a dream.”
“What… was that it? I almost misunderstood.”
“Haha… sorry. Ugh!”
She squinted and pinched my side hard.
“Whether it’s a dream or not, you met another woman. This is a fair punishment.”
Yeah, thanks. You’re an angel just for not stabbing me. A few hours ago, you asked who it was and forced me to show off my internal organs.
I somehow got past the part where I mentioned a woman’s name she didn’t know, but the most important problem still remains.
What’s her name?
Pretending to know was a mistake. I should have said I didn’t remember as soon as I saw her. No, then I might have been stabbed again.
She seems more normal than Lee Hye-jung, but it’s too early to let my guard down.
There’s no way that damn pigeon sent me to a normal place.
Click. The door opened again.
People in white coats were standing blankly in front of the door.
Is it rounds time? But why are they standing there?
“P, patient Kang In-ho…?”
The elderly doctor at the front called me faintly.
“Y, yes?”
“Are you awake?”
“A, as you can see?”
I replied in a childish voice, thinking. Ah, I can buy some time.
The doctor kept saying, “This is a miracle,” while doing simple tests.
Apparently, I had been in a coma for two months due to a traffic accident.
For me, this time of folding and unfolding my arms and walking around for a bit according to the doctor’s instructions was very comfortable.
It was because I felt that at least these people wouldn’t harm me.
I sent away the girl who was trying to stay by my side. She insisted on staying, but it was a triumph I achieved by desperately gesturing to the doctor.
I told the doctor that I didn’t remember anything except my name. It wasn’t a lie, because I really didn’t know anything about this body.
When I looked in the mirror, there was an unfamiliar boy, and judging by his handsome appearance, he had the kind of face that would attract women like her.
I also thought that if I had an ugly face, I wouldn’t receive such attention.
After a few more tests, the doctor explained that there was nothing seriously wrong with my body, but that I would need to undergo a thorough examination.
Then, he advised me to live a normal life and gradually try to recover my memories, saying that the memory loss might be a temporary phenomenon due to the aftereffects of the traffic accident.
The doctor gave some instructions to the residents and finished the rounds.
“Patient Kang In-ho, congratulations on waking up safely. It seems like God really helped you.”
Well… it is related to God, but instead of helping, he screwed me over.
I couldn’t bring myself to say that.
The doctor, having finished the rounds, took the girl who was in front of the door and disappeared.
And 30 minutes later.
“Inho, this amnesia thing… is it real?”
“Yeah. Actually, I don’t remember anything except my name.”
“Then why were you earlier…”
The longer the explanation, the more suspicious it becomes. I decided to block the question about comforting her earlier.
“I don’t know. It felt familiar. I felt a sense of closeness. That’s why I did it.”
“Inho…”
As if touched, she covered her mouth with her hand. Her ears were turning bright red, as if she was embarrassed.
Then she hugged me tightly again.
“Shin Onyu.”
“Huh?”
“That’s my name. A friend who’s been with you since we were five. I live next door to you, I understand you better than anyone else, and I’ve spent more time with you than anyone else. That kind of friend.”
“In short, a childhood friend?”
“Hehe, what’s that? Isn’t that something old people say?”
Ah… do kids these days not use that word? I feel sad to be pointed out for being old.
“Ah, anyway, haha… I’m glad. I was worried because I couldn’t remember anything. But you’re here.”
“Yeah! Don’t worry, I’ll stick by your side and help you remember everything.”
Yeah, I’ll adapt to this world and survive somehow.
Let’s end that terrible experience of getting stabbed with a knife with just one time.
“I’m going to be with you all day long. Be prepared.♥”
Hmm… it seems like I’ll need a lot of effort to survive. Shit.
