Shin Onyu-2

    Shin Onyu-2

The convenience store worker’s name is Seo Narae.

Narae, who was on her shift change, asked me to wait a moment before quickly finishing the handover.

With nothing else to do, I sat at the table outside the convenience store, sucking on the chocolate milk she gave me, killing time.

After waiting for about ten minutes, Narae came out in a hurry, looking around left and right, searching for me as if I might have disappeared.

    “I’ll take you home.”

    “You know where I live?”

    “Of course~ I’ve been there often, haven’t I?”

Narae casually linked her arm with mine. I looked at her as if I was dumbfounded, and she stared back as if wondering what the problem was.

    “What?”

“No, it just seems like there’s not much distance between us. Were we… very close?”

“Ahaha… Right. I treated you like usual. You must be confused since you lost your memory. Sorry.”

“It’s not that I dislike it, I’m just curious. What were we? Lovers?”

    “Lovers???!!!!”

She jumped back at my question, our eyes meeting.

“No, no. Inho and I weren’t like that. We’re just an older sister and younger brother from school.”

She quickly waved her hands in denial.

“Okay, I got it. Why are you so serious? It makes me feel awkward.”

    “I’m not being serious. I just…”

With her face as red as a ripe persimmon, Narae mumbled, head bowed.

“Anyway, it’s still a relief. I’ve already met two people who know about me.”

“Two people? Ah… you mean Onyu.”

Her face darkened in an instant. Both her reaction earlier and now made it seem like she knew something.

“You know about Onyu, right? Onyu said that Inho and Onyu were always together, do you know anything about that?”

I swallowed the phrase ‘the truth of the matter’. I acted ‘the nonchalant me’, naturally, as if I was just curious.

“I don’t know whether to say I know a lot or nothing at all.”

    Narae’s pace slowed.

    “Why?”

“Well, I’ve only seen Onyu a few times. I can’t say anything about Onyu based on that.”

“But you seem to know something, right? Judging from your reaction at the convenience store earlier.”

“Hmm… All I know about Onyu is what you told me.”

    “I did?”

“Yeah. It’s what I heard from you before you lost your memory, so I don’t really know if it’s true. Ah, of course, I trust Inho’s words one hundred percent. But, you know… everyone has their own personal perspective, right?”

“So, as someone who heard your assessment of Onyu, I don’t think I can speak objectively… Hehe.”

She hastily tried to smooth things over.

If what Narae said was true, I could infer that the usual me had talked about Onyu, and that the assessment wasn’t good.

If I had said good things, she wouldn’t need to be so troubled.

I had already decided that Onyu wasn’t normal, so whether I heard the answer or not didn’t really matter to me. Thanks to this, I was able to steel my resolve even more.

“Tell me. What did I say about Onyu?”

    “That’s…”

Back home, I immediately unwrapped a triangle kimbap to satisfy my hunger.

[You said that Onyu kept bothering you, interfering more than necessary, and that it was annoying.]

Hearing Narae’s words, I felt a little deflated.

I thought Onyu and the former me were mortal enemies, but it was no different from the usual troubles that friends experience at that age.

“Well, she tends to be overprotective, so I guess that didn’t suit me.”

Even while I was in the hospital, she treated me like a child, so I guess that’s why.

“I should finish the computer search I couldn’t finish earlier.”

I roughly left the triangle kimbap wrapper on the table and went upstairs.

Since I didn’t know the ID itself, I first searched for the portal site ID.

I found the ID through phone verification and changed the password.

    “Let’s see, the inbox….”

Perhaps because it’s been a long time since the era of writing emails, there was nothing particularly noteworthy besides spam.

But the email address was just the beginning.

    People usually unify their IDs.

I entered the ID into major portal sites and searched.

I didn’t seem to be very active in online communities, as there were few posts.

    At most, just game questions?

Normal. But why erase the internet history? It doesn’t seem like there’s anything to hide.

Just in case, I accessed the cloud storage.

But the cloud storage said I wasn’t a member, perhaps because I didn’t use the same ID.

Is there a difference in the creation date? Why did I bother using a different ID?

After phone verification, I scanned the list of files in the storage.

    “What, they’re all Word files?”

    The file names were dates.

What kind of records are they?

I clicked download, and a progress window appeared.

“I’ll go get some water while the files are downloading.”

I was a little thirsty, so I went downstairs to pour a glass of water.

I put the water bottle back in the refrigerator, grabbed the cup, and returned to my room.

    Click.

    I locked the door.

I felt the blood draining from my face, and goosebumps rose on my skin.

The triangle kimbap wrapper that had been on the table was gone.
