EP.9 Let’s Look at Each Other, Us

Let’s Look at Each Other, Us.
Kang In-ho, who had been reminiscing about his first encounter with Solari, snapped out of his deep thoughts.
“How much longer can I stay here?”
He wanted to know how much time he had left.
“About 30 minutes, according to your senses.”
Inho drained the remaining water from his glass.
“That’s both short and long. So, what did you find out?”
At Inho’s question, Solari cleared her throat.
“First, regarding the ‘message’ you asked about, there’s one left. I don’t know what it says or what the conditions are.”
“That’s a shame. I was hoping there might be a way to end this Dimensional Shift.”
He had asked about the instructions that appeared with the number of deaths at the beginning of the Dimensional Shift.
Solari silently stared at him, as he didn’t expect an answer to his mumbling.
“Then, are there rules to the dimensions I’m shifting to?”
“No, it’s completely random.”
“But…”
“As you asked, the possibility of [shifting to the same dimension again] is very low. However…”
Solari leaned back in her chair.
“However?”
Inho waited for her to continue.
“If your visit there is already predetermined… that possibility increases.”
“I don’t understand what you mean.”
“It’s okay if you don’t understand. It’s a difficult concept for you.”
Solari shrugged.
“I didn’t think you were like this… you’re kind of annoying.”
Inho said honestly.
“Thank you for the compliment. Oh, and the personalities of the women you get involved with in the dimensions you shift to aren’t changed by the spell. It seems to be a spell that sends you to the kind of women who already have those ‘tendencies’.”
Solari deflected his attack without changing her expression.
“Is there any way you can somewhat determine the dimension I’ll shift to next?”
“That’s also impossible.”
He expected it, but only disappointing answers came back.
Inho sighed deeply and leaned back in his chair.
“Haa… then there’s nothing more to gain.”
“That’s what I told you. The terms of the deal aren’t good for you.”
“It’s okay, it’s okay. This was the only thing I could get anyway.”
Inho slapped his knee and stood up.
He looked relieved.
Solari also stood up.
“Are you leaving?”
“You said I can’t stay here, right? Then I have to go.”
He waved his hand, saying it was okay.
He may be a noble soul, but his essence is mortal.
Solari wondered why he could be so composed.
His unwavering demeanor in the face of endless Dimensional Shift and predetermined death was dazzling.
Solari flicked her fingers. Space twisted, and a swirling rift appeared.
“Hoo…”
Kang In-ho took a deep breath.
“May blessings be upon your path. Noble soul.”
As Solari made the Sign of the Cross, a faint light enveloped him.
“What did you do?”
Inho asked as his body glowed.
“I bestowed a blessing upon your soul. It’s only a 4th-grade Divine Doctor’s blessing… but it’s better than nothing, right?”
“Is this a service? Thank you.”
He nodded slightly.
Kang In-ho took a step towards the Dimensional Shift rift.
He was striding towards the rift when he turned back as if he had remembered something.
“Ah, but… what will happen to Maria?”
“Are you worried?”
“Wouldn’t it be strange if I wasn’t? But well, somehow…”
Inho stopped talking.
Seeing his expression, a deep smile appeared on Solari’s face, who rarely showed emotion.
“Oh my, your face is red. Well… her faith is quite strong, isn’t it? In ma.ny. ways.”
“S-Shut up.”
“She’ll be fine. At least she didn’t make any unfortunate plans.”
“Then, I’ll trust you. You seem like a reasonable god.”
Inho grinned, revealing his gums.
What kind of god did he meet… Solari thought to herself.
With that, Inho disappeared into the Dimensional Shift rift.
Watching Inho’s disappearing figure, Solari said,
“I hope you’re freed from the spell as soon as possible. Before your soul’s level gets any higher.”
The life experienced through Dimensional Shift. Life is experience, and experience is nourishment for the soul.
Solari muttered to him, who had a level slightly below her own.
A quiet rural village.
A young man, barely out of his adolescence, knocked hard on the door.
“Come in.”
As permission was granted from inside, the young man named Antonio threw the door open.
A simple room, a nun was looking at the young man through the mirror.
“Ah… you were praying.”
Antonio scratched his head, thinking he had interrupted the nun’s time.
The nun smiled as if it was okay and turned to look at him.
“It’s alright. But what’s the matter?”
“It’s almost time for dinner.”
“Ah, I see… then, go ahead. I’ll finish my ‘prayer’ and come.”
“Yes, the meat will get cold, so you have to come quickly! May Saint be with you.”
Antonio cheerfully smiled and gave a religious greeting, and Maria nodded with a faint smile.
Four years since the day she rescued Saint from the plaza.
The nun used all sorts of miracles to subdue the pursuers who had chased her in an instant.
And declared.
That she would give them time to repent, and that she would judge all sinners when the time came…
After that, the nun gathered the abandoned and created a community, which became the village they now lived in.
She was quite satisfied with what she had built.
Life here was more rewarding than the years she had spent in the Order.
Maria closed the door that Antonio had left through and muttered.
“[May Saint be with you.]”
Maria’s steps turned back to the mirror.
It was a full-length mirror that reflected her body, and it was the only luxury item in her room.
“Ah… Saint, forgive me.”
Maria said, looking at the mirror.
“People are foolish and don’t know that Saint is ‘really’ with us.”
Her eyes were full of affection. Similar to the gaze and fervor she had sent to him when she served Saint four years ago.
The flesh decays over time.
That was the law of the world, and Saint was no exception.
Maria was heartbroken by the fading traces of Saint and prayed to him every day.
–
Saint, I believe that you are with me… but I don’t want your traces to disappear.
–
Have mercy on me and help me.
To her, who spent every night in tears, a voice was heard like a hallucination.
When the voice stopped, one of Maria’s eyes flashed open.
–
There was such a simple way!
–
Oh, thank you, Saint. You have awakened my foolishness.
Indeed, it was a simple method.
There was a way to be with Saint, to see the same things as Saint, and to face each other.
“Hehe… still beautiful eyes. Saint.”
Maria reached out and caressed the mirror.
Before she knew it, an excited moan escaped from her lips.
Naturally, Maria’s hand moved downwards.
After a long period of comfort, Maria, who had finished her own ritual, looked at the mirror with a blissful face and smiled.
“Then, shall we go to dinner? Saint.”
