Dokma, Jegal-hwi – 3

    Dokma, Jegal-hwi – 3

After Master left, my life became even more leisurely.

With no one calling me out at night, my sleep time increased, and with no particular duties assigned, there was no need to leave the palace.

I was enjoying the life of a wealthy, unemployed person that every modern person dreams of at least once.

When I got tired of lying down and my back started to hurt, I would take Maehwa and Yeonhwa to the Chief Manager’s office.

The Chief Manager, buried in his work, welcomed the refreshments I brought, and we chatted about trivial things while eating.

Whether Master had spoken to the executives or whether it was due to his excellent social skills, the Chief Manager didn’t ask much about me or Master.

Whatever the reason, his consideration was quite noticeable.

“Are you serving the Young Cult Leader without any shortcomings?”

The Chief Manager, sipping his tea, asked Maehwa as if it were an annual event, and Maehwa replied that she was.

Yeonhwa was following a flying bug outside the window with her eyes, and it was quite cute how her neck moved along with the bug’s movements.

“I feel this every time, but you have so much work.”

“Well, it’s all related to the Cult’s People’s livelihood, so it can’t be helped.”

When I said, as if tired of looking at the work piled up like the Barbell, the Chief Manager chuckled and chewed on a cookie.

The wind blows, the trees sway.

    A rustling sound is heard.

Ah, the forest is swaying in the wind.

Suddenly, this thought came to mind.

“The sound of the wind is very clear here. Especially at night, it’s very calming.”

“That’s right, the sound is especially clear at night.”

We exchanged various stories, rested, and when the refreshments and tea we had prepared ran out, I revealed the purpose of my visit to him.

    “You’re talking about the sunset?”

The Chief Manager looked at me as if wondering if it was a sudden, irrelevant question.

I asked if I could go outside for a while to see the sunset that I had seen with Master while coming up to the Black Heaven Cult, because Yeonhwa was begging me to.

“Young Cult Leader, Young Cult Leader. Is there a place you like the most in the Black Heaven Cult?”

After touring several walking trails, Yeonhwa asked.

The Black Heaven Cult was so well-maintained that it was hard to believe it was located in the mountains.

At first, I wondered how they carried materials like bricks to this mountain.

But when I thought about it, I concluded that in a world with martial artists who could fly through the sky and split trees, carrying heavy objects to the mountain would be very easy.

Anyway, the well-decorated Black Heaven Cult had many places worth seeing.

In the first place, I was an office worker living in a concrete jungle. Staying in this green world, everything was new and looked beautiful.

You know, there are also classical poems that sing of the beauty of nature.

I didn’t understand it well when I was a student, but living in the Black Heaven Cult, I roughly understood those people’s feelings.

If I had to say what was the most memorable place among many places.

“The sunset scenery I saw with Master while coming up here was the prettiest.”

Yeonhwa begged me to see the sunset, so I came to see the Chief Manager.

To go outside the Black Heaven Cult, I needed the Chief Manager’s permission, and more than anything, because of the Mystic Formation installed, I couldn’t go out and come back without the Chief Manager’s company.

“I usually prohibit private outings as much as possible, but if the Young Cult Leader orders it, I will accompany you.”

    “It’s not really an order… if it’s okay, can I get permission…”

I’m worried that I’m taking up the time of a busy person.

“No. With the Cult Leader not here, it is reasonable for this Black Heaven Cult to follow the Young Cult Leader’s will. I’ve taken care of the urgent matters, so it’s okay to take half a day off.”

“It’s been a while, I should go for a walk too.”

He smiled kindly and prepared to go out.

Yeonhwa and I, who had achieved our goal, exchanged glances, and Yeonhwa bowed her belly to me secretly from Maehwa as if to say thank you.

    Oh, how cute.

Since Yeonhwa and I hadn’t learned Martial arts, the Chief Manager allowed a little extra time for the round trip.

I trudged down the path I had come up.

Looking to the left, I could see the world spread out below the mountain.

Trees packed tightly, and scattered houses further away.

A world surrounded by computers and cars, and a world with tranquility.

The Chief Manager was at the end of the line with his hands behind his back, and Yeonhwa was far ahead, laughing gleefully.

Maehwa still saved her words, but she seemed to be enjoying the walk in her own way, looking at the plants that were blooming in between.

When we reached the place where I had rested with Master, the sunset was just setting as the clever Chief Manager had planned.

    “Wow-“

Yeonhwa raised her arms and exclaimed, as if trying to absorb the energy of the huge sunset.

She looked like a baby bear, so cute.

    ‘Isn’t it beautiful?’

Looking at the sunset, which was so big that it seemed like it would swallow me whole, I felt like I could hear Master’s voice from afar.

“I’ve seen it often, but it’s still a spectacle.”

The Chief Manager muttered, looking at the same place as me.

He was also admiring this mysterious and wonderful painting created by nature.

“Master was right to be proud of it.”

I remember him saying that he definitely wanted to show it to me.

Perhaps, it was a promise made in the past.

I felt sorry because I wasn’t her real disciple.

Because the disciple who made that promise was no longer in this world.

    The wind blew again.

From below the mountain to above the mountain, this wind that came up from below hit our faces as we watched the sunset.

“Is it because it’s a mountain? It’s already cold.”

When I flinched at the chilly wind, the Chief Manager opened his eyes, which had been closed, and stared down the mountain.

His pupils, moving as if chasing something, not staring at one place.

It was the first time I had seen his eyes wide open, as he always kept them slightly closed.

    Yellow-green eyes look at something.

I also looked down to guess the end of his gaze, but there were only trees. I couldn’t see anything.

“Maehwa. Protect the Young Cult Leader.”

The Chief Manager said in a monotone voice.

    “It’s an attack.”
