When the Team Leader is Obsessed, There are Many Late Nights

Amid Lee Mina’s incessant chatter, I quickly finished the rice soup and assorted blood sausage.

Anyone could see I was ignoring her, but Lee Mina stubbornly continued to say what she wanted, and I buried my face in the bowl, moving my spoon incessantly.

Perhaps because I ate so much, my stomach was bulging, followed by a slightly unpleasant fullness.

After paying the bill, I headed to a cafe. Of course, Lee Mina accompanied me.

To be precise, Lee Mina suggested the cafe. She persistently followed me, saying that it was fate that we met ‘coincidentally’ like this, and it would be a shame to part ways right away.

I needed to let my swollen stomach settle for a while, so I agreed. I also figured that if I refused, she would make up another reason to bother me.

“You’ve been busy lately, right? I’m a little sorry about that.”

Iced Americano, a classic and a drink that suited her well.

I took a sip of my iced Americano and shook my head.

“That’s just how company work is.”

“I did it because there was no one else I could trust to handle it. You know, everyone else is bad at their jobs.”

“You don’t hold back, do you?”

“I’m only saying this because it’s you, Inho. Before our team was formed, it was just me and Inho.”

    So that’s the setup.

    “That’s right.”

“I was handling all the work alone and it was tough, but when Inho came in as my assistant, it became much easier.”

Lee Mina gulped down the Americano she had been sipping. She seemed thirsty.

“After all that hard work, we finally have a team and people came in.”

    “That’s good. More people.”

“Inho, your soft personality is the problem. You’ve seen how everyone else works.”

Her words became prickly again, as if she was getting heated.

Damn it, the atmosphere was good, why is her emotion so volatile? Her face is like a poker face master, though.

“They pass their work onto Inho at the drop of a hat, and brush it off with a ‘thank you.'”

    “Haha….”

I didn’t know the details, so I tried to laugh it off, but she was persistent.

“You too, Inho. How can you just say okay to that? That’s being too easy. There are so many sly foxes… ahem. There are so many fox-like people.”

    Wow… she just said ‘foxes’.

“Speaking of which… Mina, you too.”

I narrowed my eyes, implying, ‘Then why did you make me do the work?’ and she got angry instead.

“Are you putting me on the same level as those people? I can’t tolerate that, even if it’s you, Inho.”

    What’s the difference?

“I guess you want to say, ‘What’s the difference?’ There’s a big difference. I gave you Inho’s work legitimately, and those people passed on their own work. It’s clearly different.”

It seems like the same thing, but I’ll keep quiet.

Since the topic of work came up, I thought it was a good opportunity to bring up my concern.

“Speaking of work, there’s something I wanted to tell you. I’m finding the work too difficult lately….”

“I know. So, I think we should reduce Inho’s burden for the time being. It can’t be just me and Inho working forever.”

I was about to say that I don’t understand the work at all, but she cut me off.

“…By the way, I didn’t know you were this kind of person, Mina. You’re usually more reserved.”

When I cautiously changed the subject, she paused for a moment with her usual expressionless face.

“I don’t know. Maybe it’s because I feel more comfortable around you, Inho. Her direct gaze was a little overwhelming.

After talking for a few more hours, I came home.

Lee Mina seemed to want to talk more, but I pretended that I wasn’t feeling well and managed to shake her off.

She looked a little disappointed… I hope she doesn’t do anything rash.

“Should I go to the company tomorrow?”

It’s Saturday, but I forgot everything related to work when I was possessed, so I need to learn it again.

I can’t go to work on Monday and be clueless. I should at least go and take a look.

“Well, if I still can’t do it, I’ll take a vacation and look for another job.”

First of all, making a living is more important.

“Oh well, whatever will be, will be.”

While I was killing time on the bed in comfortable clothes, I felt a presence outside the door.

I thought it was the neighbor next door, but the unique presence didn’t disappear.

“What is it at this late hour?”

It’s already 11 o’clock. It’s not an appropriate time for someone to be lingering in front of the house.

I scratched around my neck and stood in front of the front door.

I looked outside through the peephole, but I couldn’t see anything because it was dark.

‘What is it? I can’t see anything.’

I kept putting my eye to it, but it was just black darkness.

Then, there was a sound from outside the door.

    “Um… who is it?”

As soon as I heard the man’s voice, I realized what the darkness that had been blocking my view was.

“Ah, I’m the girlfriend of the person who lives here. I couldn’t get in touch, so… I was wondering if she was home.”

Lee Mina was standing outside the peephole.

The neighbor next door nodded as if he understood and went into his house, and Lee Mina stood still for a long time.

‘So, we were facing each other?’

I got goosebumps all over, and my legs gave out.

How many minutes passed as I sat in front of the front door as if sliding down? I heard a small muttering from outside the door.

“She’s definitely inside. Why isn’t there any sign of life?”
