EP.17 Asking for Directions

Asking for Directions
Gabriel’s words carried no emotion.
There was no hint of regret, no instruction to accept fate.
“The Ancient shadow will be extinguished here.”
She simply declared the will of the Divine Doctor, as if stating an obvious fact.
Her white eyes reflected the hardened faces of the mortal souls like a mirror.
Gabriel scanned the souls, each displaying a different hue, and turned away.
Lee Mina’s body, bound by Athena’s spear, was visibly in poor condition.
Pure white chains were woven into the gaps of her torn flesh, preventing regeneration and binding her body to the earth, preventing it from digging deeper into the ground and rising upwards.
However, screams filled with agony leaked from the gaps in the tightly wound chains.
Even at the beast-like cries, Gabriel only gazed at Lee Mina with indifferent eyes.
“The Ancient shadow. It’s been a while since I’ve seen that concept. Nibir, is this what you extracted from the mortal Lee Mina?”
“Yes… that is correct.”
Nibir replied, looking at the ground.
“I am not blaming you. As Athena said, you chose the best course of action given the circumstances. I agree with that. However, I believe you now realize that there was a better way.”
“That is correct, Gabriel.”
“Your disposition will be decided after this matter is concluded, through a fair trial. You, Solari, and even Ranael.”
“S-Senior. As I said, Solari is only involved due to my unilateral actions. Please, spare Solari from punishment…”
Gabriel raised a hand, silencing Nibir.
“Second-Class Dimension Management God Nibir. That statement disregards Solari. She is also a Dimension Management God in her own right. Even if there was an order from a superior, not reporting it to a higher authority was her choice. Is that not so?”
Gabriel’s white gaze turned to Solari, who nodded heavily.
“That is correct. Although there were instructions from Nibir, condoning Kang In-ho, the possessor of a noble soul, and the mortal Lee Mina was my choice. Furthermore, revealing the secrets of the dimension to the mortal Maria Lauen was also my choice.”
At Solari’s words, Gabriel slowly nodded.
“Very well. Although you have made mistakes, the fact that you do not avoid them will certainly have a positive impact on the trial, I predict. Now, returning to the main topic…”
As Gabriel extended her hand, auspicious energy began to gather.
“I will extinguish the Ancient shadow.”
The flow of air, gradually increasing in size in Gabriel’s palm, soon became a small typhoon, revealing a sharp edge.
She, the head of the Dimension Management Gods, walked towards Lee Mina with her palm outstretched.
With each step she took, uprooted grass and pebbles were sucked into her palm, scattering into small fragments.
Everyone on the meadow easily predicted what would happen next.
The moment Gabriel’s hand touched Lee Mina’s body, Lee Mina would be cut into such small pieces that her form would be unrecognizable, scattering into the air.
Bury the body that died in pain in the Unique Dimension, and take out the remaining soul to follow the proper procedures.
Send it back to its original dimension to be thrown back into hell,
Or send it to a new dimension to live a new life.
Only two choices remained, neither of which the person in question would want.
“Don’t you fucking dare.”
As the thought reached that point, someone moved.
Gabriel lowered her hand at the angry male voice from behind.
The typhoon swirling in her palm vanished without a trace.
As Gabriel turned around, the remaining Dimension Management Gods also turned towards Kang In-ho.
Kang In-ho, who had somehow pushed his way through the people surrounding him, slowly approached them.
As the Dimension Management Gods parted to the side, a straight path connecting Kang In-ho and Gabriel was created.
“Kang In-ho, possessor of a noble soul.”
Gabriel slowly spoke Kang In-ho’s name.
“We all have to go back together. Lee Mina is no exception.”
“There is no future where you all return together. As I said, the souls of the six will return to their original dimensions, and the Ancient shadow will be extinguished.”
That is the immutable future.
Gabriel said.
“Lee Mina!”
Gabriel raised her hand to stop Kang In-ho, who was raising his voice.
“Why are you giving the mortal Lee Mina special treatment? She is no different from the other women from different dimensions you have let go. The time you spent with her is on the shorter side. So why are you showing such great interest in her fate?”
“That’s…!”
“Wasn’t it you who said you would live according to fate? It was you who vowed to live the same life as the possessed being in that dimension. You, who so blindly believed in and succumbed to fate, why are you now trying to resist it?”
Gabriel tilted her head and asked, and Kang In-ho closed his mouth.
“I have examined all of your actions.”
Gabriel pointed at him with her finger.
“You are a contradictory being. Kang In-ho, possessor of a noble soul. You act as if you know everything, but you know nothing, and you act as if you have realized something, but in reality, you have realized nothing.”
“Do you not realize how foolish you are?”
And she rebuked him.
“What?”
“You have lived many lives through Dimensional Shift.”
Gabriel slowly approached Kang In-ho.
“You have met people, formed relationships, and experienced many things.”
Kang In-ho instinctively distanced himself.
“Despite the experiences you have gained through life and the realizations you have gained through death, you are still foolish.”
Slowly, Gabriel pushed Kang In-ho back.
Gabriel gave Kang In-ho no room to breathe.
“Kang In-ho, possessor of a noble soul, I ask you. What have you realized?”
“I…”
“Are you still trapped in defeatism? Are you still only able to uphold your beliefs when your own safety is secured?”
Gabriel’s gaze turned to the five women behind him.
And then her white eyes captured Kang In-ho again.
I ask you.
Gabriel looked down at Kang In-ho.
“Have you not changed from the Kang In-ho who met Ranael?”
