Unlucky Endgame

    Unlucky Endgame

What appeared to be Lee Mina was not in good condition.

Like a snowman melting in the spring sun, parts of her face were running down, and black mucus like tears dripped onto the ground.

As if the perfect world’s meadow rejected external impurities, the intruder’s byproducts writhed pitifully on the green turf.

It stood like a barrier between Kang In-ho and Alpha.

Kang In-ho rubbed his eyes, feeling as if Lee Mina’s eyes were looking at him and Alpha simultaneously.

    Drip. Drip.

It tried to lift its melting face. Perhaps its hands were not enough, dozens of black arms sprouted from its back, holding onto the flowing face.

After much effort, it barely managed to support its face, but it became even more grotesque. The face resembled the childish and cringe-worthy CG of a B-grade horror movie.

    “An impure being has come.”

Alpha, seeing the writhing intruder, wore a dark expression, as if something that should not be had invaded his space.

“Inho. W-Why are you making that face?”

Despite Alpha’s words, the thing in the form of Lee Mina’s attention was solely focused on Kang In-ho.

Kang In-ho instinctively distanced himself from it.

He felt fear at the grotesque movement with which it approached him, neither walking nor crawling.

Now, the question ‘Why is Lee Mina here?’ was gone from Kang In-ho’s mind.

Only the thought ‘What the hell is that?’ filled his head.

    “Why…”

At the sight of Kang In-ho trying to get away, Lee Mina’s face melted even more.

The voice coming from Lee Mina’s mouth was a mixture of several voices.

A voice with static. Scratching, clear, turbid, androgynous, soprano…

The jumbled voices called out to him desperately.

Kang In-ho felt goosebumps rising as he recognized some of the voices.

“You who have forgotten your name. I am the perfect mortal, Alpha.”

Despite Alpha’s introduction, its eyes were only on Kang In-ho.

“Has it been consumed by obsession?”

Alpha clicked his tongue and waved his hand, causing a great wind to rise.

The fiercely swirling wind blew away Lee Mina’s upper body.

    Thud.

Like mud falling to the ground, the black body collapsed.

The bisected Lee Mina did not scream. However, she shifted her empty eyes, which had been fixed on Kang In-ho, to Alpha.

And the other eyes that had been closed began to open one by one.

“How many souls has it devoured?”

Alpha muttered, looking at the eyes that were opening all over the black body like the patterns of a peacock.

Just as Alpha raised his fist at the growing Killing intent, the intruder moved faster.

A spear emerged from the black mucus scattered on the ground, reaching out towards Alpha’s chest.

However, the sharpness of the black spear that had pierced through the giant tree bounced off Alpha’s skin.

“The person you hold in your heart and the soul over there may be different. Why are you trying to exclude me?”

Alpha laughed, blocking the body slam of Lee Mina, who was bristling with spears like a hedgehog, with one hand.

“Inho, needs to… talk to me.”

The woman with the melting face and lost pupils muttered.

The densely packed spear tips continuously stabbed at Alpha’s body, but it was the spears that broke.

“The ability to manifest what it has eaten is quite interesting, but it is not something to be wary of.”

Alpha’s fist struck Lee Mina’s head, and Lee Mina was smashed into the ground.

Alpha did not stop and stomped on the ground, and the ground was dug up, sending Lee Mina’s byproducts flying into the sky.

The sticky black muds were attracted to each other like magnets and stuck together, regaining their original form.

    “If I destroy Inho, I can’t… ask.”

“Is that the reason? Unfortunately, you and that soul must be destroyed here. The existence of both of you is a blemish on this perfect world.”

    “Did he… love me… Am I not welcome… I have to ask…”

Lee Mina grabbed her head and twisted. Her back bulged, and a huge dinosaur’s maw appeared.

The dinosaur, with only its head showing, lunged at Alpha with its mouth open, followed by beasts such as bears, snakes, and tigers.

“You are gradually losing control. You probably don’t even know what you are anymore.”

Alpha said, knocking out all the hideous teeth.

“The more you draw out power, the more you disappear. Why are you doing this when you don’t even love the original person?”

“I have to ask. I have to ask. I have to ask.”

    The voice gradually faded.

Black tears streamed down from Lee Mina’s black pupils.

“Tsk, is it already too late? How pitiful.”

Alpha clicked his tongue, tearing off the necks of all the black beasts.

Alpha, who quickly approached, grabbed the limp Lee Mina by the collar and threw her far away.

The pulped Lee Mina passed over Kang In-ho’s head and fell to the ground.

    “……..”

Lee Mina pulsated erratically, repeatedly forming and collapsing.

“The game is over. Disappear. Imperfect souls.”

Light began to gather in Alpha’s fist, which had been adhering to close combat.

Kang In-ho, realizing that the energy gathering in that fist was unusual, crawled on his hands and knees, but it was impossible to escape in his exhausted state.

Ah… there was something I had to do.

There was something I had to confirm.

    I can’t remember.

My head is complicated. It feels like it’s all jumbled up.

    Ah, I remember.

    I have to ask.

To the person who took away something precious.

    I have to ask.

To the person who replaced the being that ‘we’ originally held dear.

    We.

    We?

    What is we?

    What am I?

    Who am I?

    Who am I?

    Tell me.

    What am I?

I can see eyes. So many eyes.

They are all shouting for their place.

    A precious place.

A place I have been protecting.

    I’m tired now.

Maybe… it would be okay to give it to anyone?

    “You have given up control…”

Alpha lowered his fist and looked at Lee Mina.

There was a black puddle where Lee Mina had fallen.

In the center of the puddle stood a woman completely dyed in black.

The woman had the form of Lee Mina, but she was different from Lee Mina.

A vacant face, lightless pupils shedding black tears.

Countless black shadows stretching behind her back.

    “……..”

As she let out a scream that could not be transcribed into letters, the black tentacles that had stretched out from behind Lee Mina soared into the sky.

    Thump.

    The atmosphere vibrated.

As if the sky had cracked, fissures appeared in the clear sky.

Five cracks like a glass window about to break.

The atmosphere falls like shattered glass.

The sky gradually darkens, and the white cracks in the fissures become thicker.

The gaps widen, and something begins to appear.

    Alpha muttered.

The perfect mortal speaks in a voice that is thick and rough, yet thin and soprano.

“The jealousy of one who has given everything and received nothing in return.”

The black woman, dyeing the meadow black and pulsating erratically.

Someone appears from the gap that has formed in front of Lee Mina.

“The arrogance of one who has lost a precious person, intoxicated by their own power.”

A woman in black martial attire with blood-red, gleaming eyes.

Someone carrying something huge appears to Lee Mina’s left.

“The lust of one who has unhesitatingly offered the purity of soul and body.”

A blonde, greatsword-wielding punisher with blue and green eyes.

Someone appears like starlight above the head of such a nun.

“The stinginess of one who childishly tries not to lose something precious.”

A woman wearing clothes containing starlight, with mysterious purple eyes.

Something flies in next to the woman with the Star’s Power.

“The endless greed of one who is swayed by emotions that have arisen in a steel body.”

A woman with an emotionless face, gray hair and eyes.

And to Lee Mina’s right, the grasses of the meadow begin to grow long.

The trees that had sprouted became giant trees, blocking the sunlight, and the flowers that had been dormant overcame the seasons and displayed their colors.

“The laziness of one who has not become independent in the endless flow of time.”

A long-eared woman with gleaming golden eyes appears.

Alpha, looking at the six women who appeared behind Kang In-ho, said,

“A sin that should not exist has arrived in this flawless world.”
