EP.14 Interest of a Dangerous Being-1

The Interest of a Dangerous Existence – 1
“I would like to express my gratitude to all the Dimension Management Gods who attended the regular report despite their busy schedules.”
A woman standing on the platform, with her white wings spread, spoke.
Her wings, distinctly different from the others, indirectly indicated the divine power she had attained.
She wore a helmet that covered her eyes, revealing only her lower face, but her tightly closed lips gave a rather stern impression.
Unlike the other Dimension Management Gods who wore airy clothes, she was clad in chainmail armor.
Someone might say it was not an appropriate attire for a regular report, but any Dimension Management God who had seen her often would agree that this was quite formal for her.
After a brief greeting, she proceeded with the regular report.
Athena, a 1st Class Dimension Management God. She was one of the Dimension Management Gods who had existed since the beginning, when God created the second dimension.
“……..”
Nibir, a 2nd Class Dimension Management God, estimated the difference in rank between Athena and himself, then shook his head.
‘When will I ever become a 1st Class?’ Nibir thought.
It seemed to have taken him a long time just to become a 2nd Class Dimension Management God, so how much experience of the soul would he have to accumulate to become a 1st Class…
Nibir folded his fingers as he thought, then lowered his head. The path to 1st Class seemed so far away.
As he kept his eyes on Athena’s moving lips and listened to the report, one of Athena’s words caught his ear.
“Recently, reports have come in that the causality of dimensions within the district is gradually becoming misaligned. It would be good for the 2nd Class Dimension Management Gods to visit the dimensions of the lower Dimension Management Gods directly to assess the actual state of dimension management.”
‘Causality…’
In fact, it is quite common for causality to be misaligned.
From the moment they are born, human souls carry their own destinies.
However, just as bugs occur in a well-organized system, there are often beings who deviate from their destinies.
When souls that have deviated from their destinies become involved in events, errors accumulate in the dimension system.
When these errors accumulate, abnormal phenomena occur.
A person walking down the street suddenly dies,
A series of seemingly coincidental events intertwine and turn into a huge disaster at an exquisite timing,
A person who existed perfectly disappears suddenly,
Creatures and laws that were not set in the dimension suddenly appear or manifest.
Therefore, Dimension Management Gods observe and manage the dimensions under their charge to prevent the causality of the dimensions from becoming misaligned, and ensure that people who have deviated from their destinies live according to their destinies.
“The reason I emphasize direct visits is that some inexperienced Dimension Management Gods may omit reports or reduce or conceal incidents.”
Athena emphasized and re-emphasized the need for direct visits.
Nibir thought of Ranael.
The image of his junior, spreading her wings and smiling brightly after becoming a 3rd Class Dimension Management God, flickered before his eyes.
Clearly, the misalignment of causality that Athena was talking about was the result of an accident caused by Ranael.
The fact that the words “[Causality is beginning to become misaligned.]” came out for the first time in a regular report that had ended with “[No special notes.]” for several times meant that he should return his Dimension Management God qualification if he could not recall that fact.
‘Is the mortal Lee Mina doing well?’
Nibir put aside his thoughts about Ranael and thought of his contractor.
She was a refined and calm soul. It would take a long time, but she would surely catch up with Kang In-ho.
Nibir trusted his judgment.
However, he hoped that Kang In-ho would be brought back before it was too late.
“I will conclude the regular report here. Thank you for attending for such a long time.”
The long, long regular report ended, and the Dimension Management Gods rose and left the conference hall.
Nibir stared blankly as a group of people left, and then rose from his seat when the crowd had thinned out.
He had a lot to do when he got back. As discussed at the meeting, he had to check the situation of the lower Dimension Management Gods, and he had to check if Ranael had gained anything about Kang In-ho’s whereabouts.
“Nibir.”
Just as he was about to get up, thinking about the mountain of work to be done, someone’s voice stopped Nibir.
“Ah, Senior.”
Athena, who had been speaking on the platform until just now, had approached her.
“How is 2nd Class life?”
Nibir relaxed slightly at the slightly softer tone, different from that of the regular report.
“I’m adapting well.”
Athena nodded in satisfaction, as if she liked the textbook answer.
“I know that you reached 2nd Class quickly, but it will definitely be more difficult than when you were 3rd Class.”
‘Yes, it is difficult.’
Nibir thought inwardly, thinking of Ranael.
“If you have any difficulties that are difficult to handle, you can ask the other 2nd Class, or you can ask the 1st Class.”
“Thank you for your concern.”
As Nibir raised his hand to his chest and bowed, a faint smile appeared on Athena’s lips.
“It would be so nice if all the 2nd Class Dimension Management Gods were like you. These days, the 2nd Class Dimension Management Gods have such strong egos… When I was 2nd Class…”
“Ahahaha….”
Nibir gave an awkward smile as his senior did not finish the conversation, reminiscing about the old days.
“Back then, the system wasn’t so well-established. The guidelines and management methods were handed down in a haphazard way… Hermes and Ares were about to give up their qualifications because they couldn’t do it this way.”
“Ah- I see.”
Nibir mechanically agreed.
Athena was so happy to have someone to talk to that she didn’t think of letting him go, and Nibir, who was sweating profusely, was released two hours after the meeting ended.
“Oh? You were here.”
Another 1st Class Dimension Management God stopped Athena from taking him to his space.
A man with smiling eyes, a sharply upturned curve of his lips, and sharp lines put his arm around Nibir’s shoulders.
“Loki? What brings you here?”
Athena tilted her head, and Loki said.
“Ah, I was looking for Nibir. The star cluster in Nibir’s space is so pretty that I wanted to get some information.”
“I didn’t know you were interested in interior design.”
Athena said as if it was nothing, and Loki shrugged.
“I’ve been taking up some hobbies these days~ It was daunting when I first started. So I thought I’d get some help from our junior.”
“I see. It seems I’ve kept someone who had a prior engagement. I’m sorry, Nibir.”
“Ah, no. Senior.”
Nibir answered, glancing sideways at Loki, who still had his arm around his shoulders.
“Then, I’ll be going. See you next time.”
After Athena left, only Loki and Nibir were left in the conference room.
“That senior? I think she’s… mistaken… There are no star clusters in my space.”
Nibir cautiously spoke to Loki, who still had his arm around his shoulders.
Then Loki’s face, which had been looking at the door Athena had left through, turned to Nibir. His eyes were still smiling.
“I know. I just made it up to get Athena to leave.”
“Ah, I see. Then, do you have other business…?”
“Well, recently, there was a very interesting thing in the dimension I manage.”
Loki’s arm around his neck tightened. Nibir’s face was close to Loki’s face.
His eyes were still smiling. Nibir felt a chill for a moment.
“W-What happened?”
“The dimension I manage, you see. I’ve stopped it for a while because I had something to check?”
“I-I’m sorry, but what do you mean by stopped…?”
“Well, it means that I don’t put souls in the dimension for a while. In other words, there are no beings with souls in the dimension I manage.”
“Is that possible?”
“Well, it’s possible if you use various tricks. It’s a shortcut, though.”
Loki opened one eye and winked. Nibir’s body stiffened as he faced his bright yellow pupils.
“Anyway, there are no mortals in the dimension I manage, right? There was only an artificial intelligence managing the dying world.”
“……..”
Nibir’s heart sank.
“But one day, a mortal’s soul suddenly appeared. Then, they tried to Dimensional Shift in a spaceship?”
“I-I see.”
“Well, it’s good to reduce variables, so I blew up the spaceship. It would have been a disaster if they had crossed over like that. I did well, right?”
Loki urged Nibir as if he wanted to be praised.
“Ah, yes… Y-You did well.”
Nibir forced a smile.
“But you know. Something really, really amazing happened, do you want to hear it?”
Nibir didn’t want to hear it.
“A mortal woman appeared through Dimensional Shift, you know?”
“……..”
Nibir closed his mouth, realizing Loki’s intention.
“I thought she was wandering around for a while, and then she went poof and Dimensional Shifted again. I wouldn’t have noticed if I hadn’t been carefully watching the dimension.”
That was almost a disaster. Loki breathed a sigh of relief.
“Now, here’s a question.”
Loki took his arm off his shoulder and stood in front of Nibir.
Gulp, Nibir swallowed.
“Guess why I came to find you. It’s a 100-point question.”
Loki’s eyes were still smiling.
