EP.10 Enlightenment-4

A tingling sensation still lingered in her body, and Shin Jeonga gasped for breath.
Sweat streamed down her face, but her eyes, glaring at Yoon Sia through her long, damp hair, burned with animosity.
Yoon Sia maintained a safe distance, observing Shin Jeonga.
She scanned her from head to toe, then clicked her tongue at the small blade in Shin Jeonga’s hand.
“I had a feeling… you really are incorrigible.”
Yoon Sia stated flatly, as if reminding herself of an obvious fact.
“So what…!”
Shin Jeonga growled, still patting her tingling body.
“It’s your fault!! If you hadn’t dug around for no reason…! None of this would have happened!!”
Overwhelmed with emotion, a tear welled up at the corner of Shin Jeonga’s right eye.
“What did you hate so much! Did you hate me being next to Inho that much? Is that it!!”
Shin Jeonga moved closer to Yoon Sia.
Yoon Sia pressed a button on the device in her hand, and blue electricity crackled from its stag beetle-like nozzle.
Before Shin Jeonga could lunge, Yoon Sia shocked her again.
“I knew it when you tried to lynch me in the park….”
Yoon Sia looked down at Shin Jeonga, who had collapsed again with a scream, with a disgusted expression.
“You… you’re really extreme, aren’t you? Trying to kill someone and all….”
“Damn… you… why are you taking Inho away! Inho… should be with me.”
“Why?”
“What?”
“Why should Inho be with you?”
Yoon Sia nudged Shin Jeonga’s shoulder with her foot, causing her to fall backward onto her backside from her unstable squatting position.
“W-well….”
Shin Jeonga stammered.
“Well! It’s because of Inho that I’m like this!! If, if Inho hadn’t called me that day! If he hadn’t kept calling me to hang out!! If he hadn’t introduced me to alcohol and cigarettes!!”
Shin Jeonga shouted wildly, her voice filled with resentment.
“Haa… okay, let’s say that’s true. Let’s say Inho is the reason you started living a ‘delinquent’ life.”
Yoon Sia spoke calmly, her voice weary.
“Is Inho threatening you to live that way now?”
Shin Jeonga fell silent at the question that scraped at what she was desperately trying to ignore.
She could only exhale sharply, panting.
“If you were doing it because Inho threatened you… because you were afraid of the violence Inho would inflict… then this would be a situation you should be happy about.”
“As far as I know, Inho was trying to distance himself from you… but you were the one clinging to him, weren’t you?”
“I think what Inho did to you was really wrong. But… that’s not the case now. He’s actually trying to go down the right path.”
Yoon Sia tucked her phone into her shirt pocket.
“If you had thought about going down the right path like Inho, I would have even considered supporting you. But… you’re not, are you?”
“You keep blaming your circumstances and wallowing in the mud, don’t you?”
Yoon Sia gave a bitter smile, but it was too dark to see it properly.
“I….”
“I acknowledge that you were a victim. And I even feel sorry for you….”
Yoon Sia had felt a little sympathy after hearing the hidden story from Inho.
“But… right now, you’re just a perpetrator. A perpetrator who has simply resigned herself, saying, ‘It can’t be helped,’ ‘That’s just how things are.'”
The cold, awl-like words pierced Shin Jeonga’s heart.
“Should I list everything I found out while skipping a day of tutoring? Everything you’ve done at school, everything you’ve done outside of school.”
“…….”
Shin Jeonga glared at Yoon Sia.
“Extortion, theft, smoking, drinking, and….”
“Deceiving a man with a false pregnancy and manipulating him as you please….”
Yoon Sia shook her head.
“So what….”
Shin Jeonga stood up again.
She braced herself and gripped the silver blade in her hand tightly.
“One of us is going to die here anyway, and then Inho won’t know anything.”
“Your lies will be exposed eventually, won’t they?”
“I’ll just do it for real. I’ll just get pregnant.”
“Haa… you really are incorrigible.”
Yoon Sia sighed, pressing her temples.
“But you said if you get rid of me, no one will know, right?”
Yoon Sia, having relieved her headache, opened her eyes and looked at Shin Jeonga.
“……”
Shin Jeonga frowned at the subtly changed atmosphere, and Yoon Sia spoke like an instructor giving the answer.
“Why do you think I told you my schedule today loud enough for you to hear?”
“And why did I even buy this self-defense weapon and wait for you?”
“What are you…?”
Before Shin Jeonga, who hadn’t grasped the meaning of her words, could speak, Yoon Sia continued.
“Inho won’t know? Well… is that really true?”
Yoon Sia took out the phone from her front pocket and pointed it at her.
“…!!!”
Shin Jeonga, who had been carefully watching the phone screen, was soon startled and collapsed to the floor.
[…Is it true?]
On the video call screen that had turned on at some point, Kang Inho’s face was stiff.
“I, Inho…! Th, that’s…! I can explain….”
Shin Jeonga, belatedly regaining her senses, desperately clung to him, but the call ended.
Yoon Sia, kicking away the blade that had fallen from Shin Jeonga’s hand, bent down.
Yoon Sia whispered, bringing her face close to Shin Jeonga’s ear.
“I told you, I wouldn’t be lenient the second time.”
