Demon Lord
by Afuhfuihgs
Kuweeeek!
There were two types of monsters you could find in the underground cemetery.
One was zombies, resurrected directly from dead corpses, and the other was skeletons, with not even rotten flesh remaining.
I swung my sword, quickly clearing out the monsters. This area had a good monster density and respawn rate, making it a decent spot for farming.
Because there were so many monsters and I was monopolizing the hunting grounds, I quickly met the quest requirements.
“I’m done. How about you two?”
“I’m done too!”
“Me too!”
Now that the quest was complete, it was time to return.
The three of us immediately used return stones to return to Plague Town.
Now, all the important quests in the Plague Town area were finished.
There was no need to do sub-quests just for experience, so you could say our business here was done.
The two guild members I partied with had to clear sub-quests, so I decided to part ways with them.
“Let’s party again next time!”
“Thank you for helping with the quest!”
After parting ways with the guild members, I started completing the quest.
As befitting a main quest, a considerable amount of experience poured out, and as a sub-quest reward, I obtained a small medal.
This medal was an item to be equipped in the newly created accessory slot.
[Medal of Paladin Shun]
All stats +10
Level Restriction 45
Resistance to Bleeding/Poison status ailments for levels below 60.
It was an essential item for farming in the Plague Zone.
Of course, it was an item used exclusively for normal and elite monsters.
The status ailment level inflicted by boss monsters or during PVP was level 65, so it was also an item that couldn’t be used in those situations.
“Come out!”
The quest was immediately pointing to the next area, so I was thinking of quickly leaving the village.
The Battle Hell Wolf, answering my call, approached me and let out a magnificent howl.
“Eurureureurang.”
It was truly a shame that the mount didn’t have a pet function.
I mounted the wolf and left the village.
Tadak- Tadak- Tadak-
The place I arrived at with the wolf was a garrison dispatched by the Lunaris Knights.
Tents erected everywhere and NPCs gathered in one place, eating, were noticeable.
Even when playing Deron in another world, I didn’t pay much attention to the story of the quests.
This meant that it wasn’t much different here.
When the quest was updated, I turned my body even before the NPCs finished their conversation.
This was because Deron in this world didn’t even have dialogue skipping.
The area indicated by the new quest was a place called [Breezy Ruins].
It used to be a village before the plague, but now it had long become a den of the undead.
The former entrance to the village was littered with piles of stones, and around it, undead monsters like ghouls and zombies were wandering.
The quest conditions this time were to hunt elite monsters that respawn in this area and to smash the contraptions spreading the plague.
Was it because I skipped all the sub-quests? This area was deserted, with no one around.
Faint memories began to surface more clearly.
The elite monster hunting quest in this area boasted considerable difficulty.
Because the monster density was high and the travel distance was significant, normal monsters would often rush in while hunting elite monsters.
Deron in this world was no different.
First, elite monsters are a pass. The angle doesn’t come out.
I ran with the wolf towards the plague contraptions installed in the four cardinal directions inside the ruins.
The plague contraption looked like a large ball, with something like a chimney towering on top.
Inside, a strange green liquid was bubbling, so the sound could be heard clearly even from a distance.
I narrowed my eyes and looked around.
Near the plague contraption, there were monsters that seemed to be guarding it.
But there was no need to catch them. I just needed to destroy that contraption and slip away.
“Let’s go!”
“Eurureurang!”
I started running with the wolf. The quest completion condition was not hunting monsters.
I would try a method that would have been impossible in the Deron of another world.
It was riding attack.
The moment I swung my sword from atop the rapidly running wolf, a large magic sword struck the plague contraption.
Kaaang!
With a strong shockwave, the plague contraption spewed black smoke and rolled to the ground.
At that moment, the quest condition was updated.
What was displayed as 0/4 changed to 1/4.
-Keuwaeeeek!
The monsters guarding the plague contraption belatedly rushed towards me, but the Hell Wolf carrying me was already running towards another place.
Riding attack, made possible by the realism that didn’t exist in the original Deron.
It was different from that place where summoning the mount was immediately canceled when pressing the attack button or using a skill while mounted.
Tadak- Tadak-!
The wolf began to run, crossing a half-collapsed fence and stepping on a stone wall.
The monsters below were aggroed, but their slow speed couldn’t catch my wolf.
I repeated the hit-and-run tactic I had done earlier with the Hell Wolf.
It was a method of snatching away the plague contraptions guarded by monsters.
With the quest conditions completed in that way, the last quest remained.
It was to defeat the elite monster in the center.
[Hilderim of Plague]
The black-robed warlock was praying towards a rat statue installed in the center of the ruins.
I thought as I looked at that figure.
-How can I snatch only that guy?
It was during that time.
The undead monsters that were circling inside the ruins began to run towards one place.
Turning my head to look at where the monsters were heading, a party of humans had started hunting here.
I thought as I looked at that figure.
It’s now.
“Let’s go!”
I started running with the wolf. I didn’t forget to move behind the walls so that the humans wouldn’t notice me.
The moment I approached Hilderim of Plague in that state, he recognized me.
“How did a living human get here…?”
The moment I heard Hilderim’s voice, I immediately turned around and started running. If I hunted elite monsters here, there was a risk of being backstabbed by those vile humans.
“Die!”
Hilderim, foolishly enough, followed me closely.
I lured him behind a half-collapsed house and drew my sword.
The moment Hilderim rounded the corner and came behind the house, I swung my sword and began to beat him up.
Every time the sword with surging black magic brushed against his body, his health dropped in chunks.
Seogeok-! Seogeok-! Seogeok-!
Hilderim didn’t die as easily as other human monsters.
It was because of the pure white bone shields protecting his body.
The bone shields that appeared every time I swung my sword continued to protect his body.
But Hilderim, not receiving help from other monsters, was just a sandbag that was good to hit.
“Keueuk!”
At that moment, Hilderim knelt on the ground and used a skill.
In the setting, he was a necromancer who could summon the undead.
Hilderim summoned the undead. Five ghouls and two elite monsters called Ragged Giants, to be exact.
But the place they were summoned was not here.
The place where Hilderim’s undead appeared was near the rat statue where he was standing at first.
-Gweooooooo!
The summoned monsters rushed towards the human party that was near there.
The human party seemed very surprised and began to panic at the sudden monster attack.
“What! What the hell are these bastards!”
“Where did the quest mob go? Find Hilderim!”
The vile human party was, as expected, aiming for my Hilderim.
If I hadn’t dragged him behind the house, I would have been the one to suffer.
Kwajik-!
A necromancer not protected by summons was very weak.
“Kuh, keueuk… How can this be…”
I pulled out the magic sword that pierced Hilderim’s chest and picked up the item he dropped, called [Trace of Pestilence].
All quests were completed.
There was no more business here.
Before leaving the ruins, I peeked out slightly to watch the human party.
Even though Hilderim was dead, the monsters he summoned didn’t disappear.
They were launching a fierce attack on the human party.
Unlike their initial panic at the sudden attack, the tank user was doing a good job of drawing the aggro of all the monsters, stabilizing the party.
But at that moment, a zombie began to respawn behind the healer.
-Geueoooooo…
“W, what is this bastard! Save me!”
The zombie that crawled out of the ground grabbed the healer user’s body and began to bite his shoulder wildly.
An icon indicating bleeding and poisoning status ailments appeared above the healer user’s head.
That wasn’t the end of it. Starting with the zombie that attacked the healer, other monsters also began to respawn.
“Heal! Heal! Aaaaaah!”
The healer and mage users were attacked by the zombies and captured.
The rogue user next to them swung his sword wildly at the zombies, but the Ragged Golem that the tank user had missed threw a chain at the rogue’s body and began to pull him back.
“Aaaaaaack!”
The first to die was the rogue user who began to be attacked by the Ragged Golem.
The Ragged Golem opened the large mouth on its stomach and swallowed the rogue’s corpse in one gulp.
The next to die was the tank user, and around the same time, the mage and healer also died.
In that way, one party was wiped out.
“Huk…”
It was too scary and gruesome a sight.
But it was a fitting end for greedy, vile humans.
“Come out…!”
I rode the wolf and left the ruins.
I was planning to move straight to the next quest location.
Tadak-Tadak-Tadak-!
Leveling up continued smoothly after that.
The moment I reached level 55, a new job change time arrived.
A 5th rank job had opened.
Before choosing a new job, I began to contemplate.
If the new expansion pack patch had been implemented as I knew it, I wouldn’t have hesitated in choosing a job.
Among the warrior classes, I would have chosen the 5th rank dealer [Sword Master].
But a job I didn’t know had appeared.
It was a job called [Demon Lord].
It looked so cool just from the name.
