    638 – Equipment I’ve Never Seen Before

Harfman was on the brink of madness after encountering the mysterious beast girl.

It was due to the superhuman abilities the girl was displaying.

    ‘Oh my.’

As soon as he aimed his weapon, she fled at an incredible speed.

Even with the Mana equipment’s output maximized, he couldn’t even follow her afterimages.

It was a monstrous speed that Harfman had never experienced in his life.

‘How can she move that fast…’

    Beep beep beep—

The Mana detector was emitting warning sounds, alerting him to the girl’s danger.

It felt like a bell was ringing, urging him to flee.

While Harfman was on guard against Gyeoul, Gyeoul herself was secretly flustered.

She had aimed her bow at the intruders, but honestly, she had no desire to shoot a person.

An arrow could cause a fatal injury no matter where it struck.

    “……”

Thanks to that, Gyeoul remained with her bow drawn for a while.

Seeing that her opponent was also aiming a weapon, she thought they wouldn’t easily back down.

In a situation like this, showing weakness would only lead to being devoured.

Gyeoul decided to act more strongly.

“This is my private property! Get out… now!”

    “Birukles?”

    “Yes…?”

    “Bljumma?”

    “……?”

Gyeoul couldn’t help but be flustered by the words that weren’t translating.

In a world where translation magic was the norm, it was strange that it wasn’t working.

She felt something alien, but for now, dealing with the intruders was the priority.

‘If we can’t communicate, then I have to show my strength.’

She would have to demonstrate her most powerful technique among the skills she possessed.

Of course, using explosive arrows underground was dangerous, so she decided to shoot a giant electric arrow instead.

    Crack—!

After nocking the electric arrow to her bow, she shot it among the intruders.

    Boom—!

The enlarged arrow struck the tunnel wall, releasing a massive surge of electricity in all directions.

Since the electricity flowed through the Mana Gyeoul had sent, it wouldn’t electrocute the people.

It merely flowed with strong electricity among the intruders.

    “……!”

Harfman couldn’t help but be shocked by the arrow Gyeoul had shot.

The sudden enlargement of the arrow was shocking, but what was even more astonishing was the Mana that spread when the electricity surged.

    Beep beep beep—

In an instant, the warning level on the detector shot up to maximum.

It was a signal that indicated Harfman and his group were facing an entity they could never defeat.

    ‘A monster…!’

Harfman didn’t realize that the electric arrow Gyeoul had shot was created by the greatest magician of dawn.

Thus, he could only mistake the Mana emanating from the arrow as Gyeoul’s.

Sensing defeat, Harfman signaled his companions.

It was a simple signal to absolutely not fight and to flee.

    Nod—

Those who received the signal slowly began to back away.

Yet, they did not lower their weapons aimed at Gyeoul.

It was a tense standoff that continued.

From the back of the cave where Gyeoul stood, footsteps began to echo.

    “……!”

Harfman swallowed hard as he spotted someone approaching from the darkness at the end of the cave.

The size was that of an adult male; perhaps it was a parent of the boys…

    “Huh…!”

As the mysterious figure drew closer, Harfman and his companions began to tremble.

Even without using the detector, Harfman instinctively knew.

    Something indescribably monstrous was approaching.

An overwhelming presence that could make all the monsters they had seen until now seem laughable.

The figure hidden in the darkness was merely walking slowly, yet it was triggering Harfman’s survival instincts.

    “Ugh!”

Fear rooted his feet to the ground.

Harfman bit his lip hard enough to draw blood, but somehow managed to move his body.

    “Ev, everyone run!”

    “Ahhh!”

Harfman urged his companions and dashed back the way they came.

Some even dropped the equipment they had brought to lighten their load.

    “Po, portal!”

At the end of the path where Harfman and his group were running, a portal opened.

Even though it was a return portal that typically opened after defeating a dungeon boss, it was just wide open.

Those who discovered a glimmer of hope entered the portal, and behind them, Levinas chased after them.

“Carrots! I left my carrots! If you want them, take them!”

Levinas threw a carrot toward the portal.

The carrot flew in an arc and perfectly entered the portal, and with that, the portal closed.

Thanks to that, Levinas was unaware that the carrot that had crossed the portal had hit Harfman’s back of the head.

    **

    “What is this.”

The beings he had thought were intruders disappeared through the portal.

It was then that I realized they were entities that had come from another world via the portal.

    ‘But they went back again.’

So they weren’t intruders; they had just arrived here through the portal.

But why did they suddenly scream and run away?

Tilting my head, I noticed a large hand above me, waving a tail.

    “What’s going on?”

“It seems they are people from another world.”

    “Another world?”

“Yes. But they went back through the portal.”

I looked down at the equipment scattered on the cave floor.

I wanted to return the items they left behind, but now it was impossible since they had returned to their world.

“What should we do about what they left behind?”

    “This is…”

The Master picked up the item I handed over.

It was something that looked like a jump rope stick.

“I don’t even know what this is… Huh!”

A beam of light shot out from one end of the stick the Master was holding.

The beam quickly condensed into the shape of a sword.

    “Is that… a beam saber?”

    “It’s a lightsaber!”

Levinas, who had followed the beings from another world, came running back to us, shouting.

Perhaps fascinated by the lightsaber, he zipped around it excitedly.

“Wow, this is amazing. I’ve only seen this in movies.”

“This is my first time seeing something like this.”

If the Master was seeing it for the first time, it must indeed be a weapon made with technology from another world.

While examining the lightsaber, Levinas pulled out a carrot.

    “Lightsaber-roasted carrot!”

Levinas shoved the carrot into the lightsaber.

The cleanly cut surface of the carrot turned black.

It seemed the lightsaber had tremendous firepower.

I’m glad I didn’t touch it with my hands.

But why was it that the carrot could burn black, yet I didn’t feel any heat?

As I tilted my head in confusion, a moment later…

    “Levinas’s carrot…!”

Levinas dropped to his knees, devastated by the carrot that had become inedible.

Given how much he cherished his carrots, the shock was considerable.

The Master, having turned off the lightsaber, reached out to Levinas.

    “Give me the carrot.”

    “…Okay.”

Levinas handed the Master the carrot that had been split in two.

Then the Master took out a dagger from his pocket and skillfully peeled away the burnt parts of the carrot.

With the burnt parts gone, the now warm carrot looked quite appetizing.

    “Wow!”

    Levinas jumped for joy.

The Master may seem gruff, but I really appreciated how he took care of us so delicately.

“By the way, what should we do about this equipment?”

“…Since we can’t return it, we should use it.”

    “Use it?”

At my question, the Master nodded and replied.

“It seems this equipment is made so that even those with little or no Mana can use it.”

    “Wow, is that even possible?”

“It seems to be possible with their technology.”

    “Ah…”

Given their ability to condense light into a sword, their technology must be superior to ours.

The blacksmiths would be thrilled to see this.

Since we couldn’t return the equipment anyway, I decided to gather everything.

If we ever return, we can give it back then.

“This will be useful in that world.”

    “That world… Ah!”

My hometown, which originally had no Mana but was now slowly beginning to gain some.

To think it was equipment that could also be used in my hometown.

Somehow, I felt like the portal had given me a gift.

If I ever meet them again, I promised to repay them.

    **

Harfman, who returned through the portal, let out a sigh of relief as he rubbed the back of his head.

The moment he crossed through the portal, someone had attacked the back of his head.

    ‘I’m done for.’

He had left all his expensive equipment in the dungeon.

The portal he had come through had closed, leaving him unable to return to retrieve it.

Even if the portal were open, he didn’t want to step back into a world inhabited by monsters.

    “Ha.”

    Harfman sighed and looked down.

At his feet lay a single carrot.

    “This is…”

The highest-grade Mana functional food he had found in the dungeon.

It was an incredibly valuable carrot, but just one wouldn’t make up for the astronomical loss.

‘One carrot won’t even be enough for research on cultivation.’

To conduct cultivation research, he would need at least three.

Just as Harfman was feeling despair and reaching for the carrot, it suddenly burrowed into the ground all by itself.

    “Uh…?”

    What was this?

Could it be another monster carrot?

Just as Harfman was raising his guard, something astonishing happened.

    Swoosh—

Countless carrots began to sprout from the ground.

Each one was a top-grade Mana functional food.

    “Ah!”

    “Captain…! The carrots…!”

Seeing the carrots, Harfman almost burst into tears.

He had been wondering how to take responsibility for the losses he had seen in the dungeon.

With this many Mana functional foods, it was an enormous gain beyond the losses.

    “Uwaaa!”

    Harfman shouted in his world.

Indeed, there was no law in this world that said one had to die.
