    582 – Water Gun

    582 – Water Gun

    “Oh! Gaeul has collapsed!”

Bomi squatted down next to Gaeul, who was lying on the floor.

She seemed clueless as to why Gaeul had suddenly fallen.

“Gaeul, why did you suddenly collapse?”

    Poke, poke—

    Bomi poked Gaeul’s side.

Gaeul burst into giggles, tickled by Bomi’s fingers.

Thanks to that, Gaeul couldn’t give Bomi any answer to her question.

    “Hmm…”

Unable to get an answer, Bomi turned to look at me.

Then, she asked me the question instead.

    “Gyeoul, why did Gaeul collapse?”

“Levinas probably surprised her by giving a 100 won discount on carrots?”

    “Ah! 100 won!”

    Bomi exclaimed, belatedly realizing.

Bomi showed both realization and disappointment at the same time.

    “Amazing. Why couldn’t I understand?”

“It was hard to understand just now.”

She collapsed as soon as she heard about the 100 won discount.

It was natural that even family members would have a hard time understanding just now.

Gaeul acknowledged this and nodded, but Bomi looked unhappy, as if she felt sorry for not understanding.

“…I think I need to study.”

    “Study?”

    “Yeah. Gaeul-ese.”

    Gaeul-ese study.

Everyone showed interest in Bomi’s unexpected remark.

“Bomi, how are you going to study Gaeul-ese?”

“Wouldn’t Gyeoul, who knows Gaeul the best, be able to teach us?”

    “Me?”

“Yeah. You tell us how Gaeul would act in this kind of situation.”

    “That’s… not bad?”

Learning Gaeul-ese to better understand Gaeul’s words.

There’s no reason not to help.

I nodded to Bomi, letting her know that I understood.

    “Okay. I’ll teach you.”

    “No, that’s not it.”

    “It’s not?”

“Yeah. The Gaeul I know wouldn’t say it like that.”

    Ah.

    Is it starting now?

I pondered for a moment, trying to think of something Gaeul would say.

    “Um… Chae-go?”

    “More Gaeul-like!”

    “CHAE-GO?!”

I raised both hands high like Gaeul.

I couldn’t perfectly imitate Gaeul’s purity and innocence, but it was close enough.

    “Oh…”

    “Wow.”

    “……!”

    Was my Gaeul imitation plausible?

My family members exclaimed and looked at me.

Saebyeok wagged his tail at an incredible speed, and Hanyeoreum smiled.

It seemed I was better at imitating Gaeul than I thought.

    “Agh!”

    Suddenly, Hanyeoreum hugged me tightly.

Just as I was about to tap to let her know I couldn’t breathe, Hanyeoreum lifted me up and rubbed her cheek against mine.

I didn’t know why she was suddenly doing this, but I didn’t dislike the expression of affection.

“Did I seem like Gaeul just now?”

“Yeah. You were exactly the same!”

    “Hehe.”

I rubbed my cheek against Hanyeoreum’s in the same way.

Then Bomi ran over and hugged me tightly.

“Gyeoul is amazing. From today, Gyeoul is Gaeul Teacher.”

    “Ahem!”

Gaeul looked proud at Bomi’s words.

    Levinas also clapped his hands.

Before I knew it, I had become Bomi’s teacher.

    **

I became a teacher, but nothing particularly changed.

I spent an ordinary day as always, just telling them how Gaeul would speak and act.

Even though it was just a simple imitation, the children seemed to find it fun and kept following me around.

“Wanga! What does she do when she meets Haneul?”

    “Um… Doesn’t she just smile?”

    We went to Haneul’s smithy.

I smiled at Haneul, whom I met there, just like Gaeul would.

It was a giggling kind of laugh, but it was quite awkward when I did it.

    “……!”

Despite my clumsy smile, Haneul wagged his tail.

Thanks to that, my tail also wagged quickly as if resonating.

“Master…! Something felt different just now…!”

“Yeah. We’re learning Gaeul right now.”

    “Gaeul-nim…?”

“Yeah. Did I seem like Gaeul just now?”

“Um… It’s similar, but something was subtly different…”

    I guess so.

    It’s a shame, but I’m just imitating.

As I scratched my cheek with a sheepish smile, Haneul made a solemn expression.

“Gaeul-nim has a feeling like this.”

Haneul picked up a steel pipe placed near the smithy.

With a serious expression and the steel pipe over his shoulder, he looked full of wildness.

    “Huh.”

Is that how Gaeul looks in Haneul’s eyes?

I naturally turned to look to the side.

    Maaaeh—

Gaeul’s tongue, which had peeked out, went back into her mouth.

Gaeul, with Haneul’s respectful gaze, made a cool expression as if nothing had happened.

It was like a veteran warrior’s expression.

    “Majok.”

    Ahem.

As I tilted my head, puzzled by Gaeul raising her chin, Haneul slowly put down the steel pipe.

    “Gaeul-nim is a wonderful senior to me…!”

    “Ah-ha.”

Come to think of it, Gaeul was Haneul’s master’s senior.

In that case, it was inevitable that he would feel respect.

It was amazing that Gaeul, who was only cute, was a wonderful senior to someone.

“But Haneul, what were you doing at the smithy?”

“I was making toys to play with everyone…”

    “Toys?!”

Levinas reacted before I could at the word “toy.”

It seemed he liked “the toy Haneul made” more than he liked toys in general.

    “This…”

Haneul pointed to a corner of the factory with his finger.

There were several things that looked like guns placed there.

    “Guns?”

    “Yes. Water guns…”

Haneul shot a water gun into the air.

I thought the water would come out thin and long like a water gun, but surprisingly, what came out was water shaped like small beads.

    Psh— Psh— Psh—

The quickly flying water beads wet the wall.

The light sound didn’t seem to cause any damage.

There was definitely something magical about it.

    “Let’s play a gun game with these…!”

“Doesn’t it hurt if you get hit…?”

    “It doesn’t hurt at all.”

Haneul turned the gun towards his face.

I was surprised that he pulled the trigger without hesitation, but Haneul, who was hit with water on his forehead, seemed fine.

    “……!”

Looking at the unharmed Haneul, Levinas picked up a gun.

It seemed he judged that it would be okay to shoot the family members.

And so, our water gun game began.

    **

I was on one team alone, and all the children were on the same team.

This was because my ability was specialized in shooting guns.

    That wasn’t exactly wrong.

Shooting and hitting something was my specialty.

It might be an arrogant thought, but it wasn’t difficult for me to beat all the children by myself.

    ‘Shall I start moving?’

I used my ears and nose to track the children.

I was able to discover that Bomi’s trail led to the guild office.

Did Bomi hide in the office alone?

    I rushed to the office.

Then, I found Bomi moving her body back and forth between the computer and the papers.

    “How about it!”

    “…What?”

“There are only things here that would be a disaster if they got wet, so it would be a big problem if you shot wrong?!”

Papers, computers, and various electronic devices.

There were definitely only things that shouldn’t get wet.

    “You can’t shoot, can you!”

Bomi moved the paper documents back and forth, blocking her body.

The office workers watched us with interested eyes.

I slowly aimed the gun at Bomi, who was hiding her body using the paper and electronic devices.

    “Bomi.”

    “Yeah?”

    “That won’t work.”

It was a plan to prevent me from shooting recklessly, but it was meaningless to me.

Even if there was a very small gap, I could shoot it accurately.

    Psh-psh—

I shot Bomi’s shoulder, which was visible for a moment.

The electronic devices and paper didn’t get wet.

    “Gasp.”

Bomi, with wide eyes, soon raised both arms and admitted defeat.

More than the disappointment of defeat, she was amazed that I had hit that gap.

    “You saw that?”

    “Yeah.”

    “Amazing.”

Having made Bomi a prisoner, I moved on to follow the other children.

Bomi followed behind me and shot water guns at my back, but Bomi was eliminated, so it was no damage.

Bomi knew this, but she kept shooting water guns because she was bored.

    ‘Next is…’

I lifted my nose and smelled the surrounding scents.

I smelled familiar scents nearby and ran there.

    “Gaeul…?”

The next person I found was Gaeul, but Gaeul was using an unexpected tactic.

Ensia was in front of Gaeul, Argo was on the left, and Hanyeoreum and Sophia were on the right and behind.

Gaeul was using people bigger than herself as shields.

“Wow, Gaeul is using her family as bullet shields.”

Bomi showed interest in Gaeul’s strategy.

This would be terrible if it were a real war, but this was just a water gun fight.

    “Hek…”

Gaeul took out the gun between Ensia’s arm and waist.

    Psh-psh—

I quickly ran and dodged as she shot a water gun at me.

I was surprised that Gaeul was unexpectedly good at shooting water guns.

    ‘There’s a gap, but.’

I raised the gun and aimed at Gaeul.

The target was Gaeul’s swaying tail.

I put my hand on the trigger and was about to shoot when Ensia flinched.

    “Gae, Gaeul-nim…”

    “Hek…?”

    “…I’m sorry. My mission is…”

Ensia grabbed Gaeul’s arm and held it out towards me.

Ensia grabbed Gaeul’s arms and raised them high.

    “We, we surrender…”

    “Eek?!”

Gaeul’s eyes widened at Ensia’s sudden betrayal.
