    517 – Torture

    517 – Torture

Hanyeoreum, who was holding me, started moving somewhere.

Having given up on everything, I didn’t resist and just stayed in his arms, letting out a small scream.

    “Ughhhhh…”

“…Anyone would think I’m being taken for torture.”

Hanyeoreum said, pulling my cheek hard.

    Torture, huh?

It did feel a bit like that.

I was preparing myself for the water torture that was about to come when Levinas approached me.

    “Wanga! Levinas knows torture too!”

    “Really?”

“Yes! Torture is making someone suffer! It’s very bad!”

Levinas made a pretty serious face.

It seemed like he was trying to express how scary torture was with his expression.

“That’s right, torture is very scary and bad.”

“Yeah! Levinas was so scared that he closed his eyes!”

    “Huh…?”

He closed his eyes because he was scared of torture.

Could it be that Levinas had seen or experienced torture before?

Surprised, I straightened up in Hanyeoreum’s arms, and Saebyeok pointed to the other side of the road with his thumb.

“There’s a folk museum over there, and they have torture devices too.”

“That’s right, you can even experience torture?”

    Torture experience, huh?

Just as I was starting to get curious, Hanyeoreum put me down.

    “Okay, we’re here.”

“Guys, I’m going to go experience torture first…”

    Bye-bye.

I waved to the kids and turned around.

But instead of shower facilities, there was a restaurant.

    “This is…”

“Gyeoul and Gaeul’s favorite meat restaurant.”

    “A meat restaurant…?”

“Yeah. The two of them couldn’t eat properly for three days and suffered a lot. Master told me to feed them a lot of delicious food.”

    “……!”

It wasn’t a terrifying face wash.

My tail, which had been drooping, perked up.

“The guild members were heartbroken seeing Gyeoul and Gaeul suffer. They told me to make sure to buy them something delicious.”

    “Oh, I see… I’m sorry…”

“No, why do you have to be sorry? Gyeoul worked hard. But you have to wash thoroughly when you get home, okay?”

    “Yes, I’ll wash thoroughly.”

    “Okay, okay.”

I thought something terrible was going to happen.

But instead, it was a dinner out.

Thanks to that, the dinner seemed like it would be even more enjoyable.

    **

I ate with the kids and came home to take a shower.

I washed my cheeks until they sparkled.

“Wanga, your face is squeaky clean.”

    “Yeah, I washed really hard.”

After showering, I went with Gaeul to find the guild’s family members.

It was because I had been away from home for about three days and caused my family a lot of worry.

    “We’re here.”

I met Master, Sophia, Jeong Yuna, and Choi Jin-hyuk.

The family members welcomed Gaeul and me in their own ways.

    ‘The greetings are over.’

    What should I do now?

I’ve been through a lot for three days, so should I just rest at home?

After thinking for a moment, I flopped down on the sofa.

    “Wanga, Wanga.”

Levinas walked up to me as I lay on the sofa.

He squatted down right in front of me, and I could see Levinas’s bright eyes up close.

“Wanga, is Levinas going to the museum?”

“The museum? Didn’t you already go to the museum?”

“I went, but I didn’t really see it properly because I wanted to see it with Wang and Gaeul the dog!”

    I see.

Levinas was thinking of me and Gaeul, which was a good thing.

I decided to go to the museum with the kids today.

“Can we walk to the museum?”

“No…! To get to the museum, this is needed…!”

    Ahem.

Levinas puffed out his chest and proudly took out a card.

The words ‘transportation card’ were written on the back of the card.

    “That’s…”

“You can ride the bus with this, and you can buy things at the supermarket! Adults use it, but Levinas has one too!”

He must have seen adults buying things with cards.

It’s rechargeable, but a transportation card is a similar concept.

    “Amazing.”

    Clap clap clap-

    I clapped for Levinas.

I was somehow proud of Levinas’s growing familiarity with modern civilization.

“So, Levinas can beep the card for us?”

    “Yeah!”

So, I moved to the bus stop with Levinas and the kids.

When the bus to the museum arrived, Levinas confidently boarded the bus.

    “Six children will ride.”

When the bus driver nodded, Levinas held the card to the card reader.

    Beep-!

    [Insufficient balance.]

Levinas stopped in his tracks at the voice of the announcer that suddenly appeared.

Then he turned around and asked us.

    “What is balance?”

“It means there’s no money on the card.”

    “……!”

Levinas, with Rabbit eyes, trudged off the bus.

The bus to the museum drove far away, and we stared blankly at Levinas, who was standing there.

    “Levinas was scammed…!”

    “Scammed?”

“Yeah…! They said I could ride the bus with this…!”

    “That’s…”

Could it be because he didn’t charge the card?

Before I could tell Levinas about the bus card, Levinas ran to the convenience store.

    “Excuse me.”

    “Yes?”

    “I think this is wrong.”

Levinas put the bus card on the convenience store counter.

The convenience store clerk, knowing that our children were still ignorant of modern society, asked kindly.

    “What’s wrong?”

“They said I could ride the bus with this, but I can’t. The balance is insufficient!”

“Oh… If the balance is insufficient, you have to charge it with money.”

    “Money?!”

Levinas perked up his ears and thought for a moment, then took out ten thousand won from his pocket.

Then he started pressing and rubbing the ten thousand won on the card.

It seemed like he was trying to charge the card directly with money.

“Levinas, we can’t charge the money ourselves, we have to ask the convenience store to do it.”

    “Huh! Really?!”

Levinas handed the card and ten thousand won to the convenience store clerk.

A little later, the clerk handed the charged card to Levinas.

“Ten thousand won is in here?!”

Levinas, excited, forgot his honorifics and asked the clerk.

Then the clerk pointed to the card reader on the table.

“Would you like to try tapping it here?”

    “Here?”

    Beep-!

Ten thousand won appeared on the screen along with the sound.

Only then did Levinas raise the card high again.

“This card has a whopping ten thousand won in it…!”

“Yeah. You can ride the bus with that.”

We returned to the bus stop and waited for the bus.

Levinas proudly tapped the card when he got on the bus.

    Beep-!

Without the words ‘insufficient balance’, all six of us were able to board the bus.

    **

The museum we arrived at with the children.

The place that the children were interested in was none other than the experience zone.

    “Master, I know this.”

Haneul picked up a jegi from the folk experience zone and started shaking it from side to side.

The sparkling leaves looked like the tools that cheerleaders use when cheering.

“There are similar cheering tools, but this isn’t that, it’s a jegi.”

    “Jegi?”

“Yeah. It’s a play tool that you kick without dropping it.”

    Tap tap-

I kicked the jegi about four times and then passed it to Gaeul.

Gaeul caught the jegi flying towards her with both hands and stood there blankly.

    “Gaeul, pass.”

    “……!”

Gaeul threw the jegi towards Saebyeok, and Saebyeok kicked it high into the sky.

    “Huh?”

An outdoor experience zone with no ceiling.

Everyone looked up at the jegi that had gone high into the sky.

    “It’s falling!”

    “Huh!”

Bom and Levinas ran towards the falling jegi at the same time.

The two stretched out their legs at the same time, creating a cross kick.

    “Wow.”

The jegi went up into the sky again.

I patted Haneul on the back while looking at the jegi.

    “Haneul, kick Haneul too.”

    “Ye, yes…!”

    Thud-!

The jegi that Haneul kicked flew far away.

Kicking the jegi together with the six of us was quite fun.

“Haneul, it’s fun doing it together, right?”

    “Yes…! It’s really fun…!”

    I’m glad Haneul likes it.

I put the jegi back in its place and moved to the next experience zone.

“Wanga, there’s a wooden bed here! Levinas sleeps well even on hard beds like this!”

Levinas flopped down on a cross-shaped bed.

Seeing that, Bom chuckled and tied Levinas’s wrists with a rope prepared next to it.

“Levinas is in big trouble now.”

“Why is Levinas in big trouble?”

    “This isn’t a bed, it’s a torture device.”

Bom took out a toy hammer from Gaeul’s bag.

Noticing something at that sight, Levinas struggled, but his arms were already tied with rope.

    “Huuuuh!”

Bbyong bbyong bbyong bbyong bbyong bbyong bbyong-!

Along with Levinas’s horrified scream, Bom’s merciless toy hammer attack began.

    Head, stomach, arms, and legs.

Gaeul, surprised by Bom’s toy hammer massage, lay down on top of Levinas.

    “Rabbit Horn!”

Thanks to lying on top of Levinas, Gaeul took the brunt of Bom’s toy hammer attack instead.

Haneul, watching this, lay down on top of Gaeul.

    “I, I’ll block it for you…!”

Gaeul on top of Levinas, Haneul on top of Gaeul.

It was a two-tiered shield, but Levinas at the bottom had Rabbit eyes.

“T, this is torture to make Levinas into a pancake…!”

It must have been a little heavy with two children on top.

Levinas closed his eyes, making a kkekkudak sound like Gaeul.

    Gaeul licked Levinas’s cheek.

    Bbyong bbyong bbyong bbyong bbyong-!

Even in the midst of all that, Bom’s toy hammer massage continued.

It was a rather confusing torture scene.
