485 – The Phantom Thieves of Justice

485 – The Phantom Thieves of Justice

    “Eh.”

As I blinked while looking at Gaeul’s face, a school of fish swam up to my nose.

    “Oh dear.”

We ended up fighting without a proper plan.

Just as I hurriedly pulled out an arrow, Levinas shouted loudly to everyone.

    “Everyone, it’s a formation!”

    “Ah, okay!”

We quickly formed up, familiar with the drill we had practiced together in the past, which made me feel a sense of pride.

“Levinas, create a wall with plants and make holes in it for the fish to come through.”

    “Okay! Got it!”

As soon as I made my request, plants began to grow on the island.

It was a towering wall made of vines.

    Crack-!

Toothy fish bit into the vine wall, and several of them slipped through the holes that had formed between the walls.

As expected, they didn’t seem to be highly intelligent monsters; they just charged at us recklessly.

“Bomi, keep repairing the wall as they bite it.”

    “Got it.”

“Let’s catch the fish coming out through the holes first.”

    “Okay.”

    Thwack-!

Saebyeok delivered an uppercut to a fish flying towards us.

Gaeul, who was next to me, looked up at the fish soaring into the sky.

    “Ju-in Mukgogi Narato!”

“Yeah. Let’s knock the fish away, Gaeul.”

    “Hek···!”

One fish rushed through the hole but ended up falling onto the sandy beach of the deserted island without anyone biting it.

Gaeul vigorously struck the flopping fish with her Wooden Caliber.

    ‘Everyone is doing well.’

I need to do my best too.

I took out a lightning arrow and shot it high into the sky.

    Ping-!

The lightning arrow flew in a parabolic arc and soon struck right in the middle of the fish in the sea.

As I tried to check how many fish I had caught with the electricity, my gaze was drawn to Saebyeok, who was performing tricks at the front line.

    Nom-

Saebyeok took a bite out of the back of a fish flying towards her.

It seemed quite tasty, as Saebyeok’s tail swayed gently.

    Whoosh-

Saebyeok, with her mouth full, carelessly tossed the fish she had bitten behind her.

The fish, with its back bitten, flopped a few times before dying right there.

    “Huh?”

Is the back of the fish its weak point?

Biting the back makes it die instantly.

Surprised, I watched Saebyeok’s fight for a moment.

    Nom- Whoosh-

    Nom- Whoosh-

    Nom- Whoosh-

Saebyeok bit into the backs of all the fish flying towards her.

I could see blue Magic stones falling off when she bit into the back of the fish.

    ‘Aha.’

So that’s where the Magic stones were.

Having gained a significant insight, I approached Saebyeok and asked,

    “Saebyeok, is the fish tasty?”

    “Yeah.”

    Is it that good?

I took a bite of the fish Saebyeok offered me.

    “Wow.”

    This is quite delicious.

It had a texture similar to flounder sashimi, and my tail perked up.

    **

We worked together to defeat the toothy fish.

Although there were quite a few fish, it wasn’t difficult to handle them all.

‘Now the third-level dungeon is easy.’

Still, we shouldn’t let our guard down.

We remained vigilant, gathering the caught fish together.

“Saebyeok, can you pull this fish? I’ll sell it.”

    “Okay.”

We dragged the net full of fish and moved through the portal that had appeared on the deserted island.

With a sensation of crossing space, we were able to return to the beach.

“Hello. Did you clear the dungeon?”

    “Yes.”

Outside the portal, a merchant had come to buy the fish.

We showed him the fish we had caught in the dungeon.

“I’ll sort them out for a moment. The ones in bad condition will be sold off as animal feed.”

    “I see.”

Among the fish we caught, there were quite a few in good condition.

Those that had died diving alone on the deserted island and those caught in Levinas’s vines were among them.

Of course, not all the fish were in good condition.

The ones that had been cooked by my lightning arrow and those that Saebyeok and I…

    “Huh? Who bit this?”

“Uh, maybe a shark came and bit it…?”

    “Ah, that could be.”

It was hard to admit that we had eaten them.

Saebyeok seemed to have similar thoughts, as she rolled her eyes around.

“Sorting is all done. The payment will be deposited into the account you provided.”

    “Yes.”

That account belonged to Hanyeoreum, who was listed as the guardian.

But I guess it doesn’t matter.

After completing all the transactions, we returned to our hotel accommodation.

“Saebyeok, the fish was really delicious.”

    “Yeah.”

“I wanted to eat it again for lunch or dinner.”

    “So I brought some.”

Saebyeok pulled out two fish in good condition from her bosom.

    As expected of our Saebyeok.

    Applause erupted spontaneously.

“Saebyeok, let’s grill them for dinner.”

    “Okay. That sounds delicious.”

After placing the fish in the kitchen, we returned to find the kids watching television in the hotel living room.

    Slap-!

The woman on the television slapped another woman’s cheek.

With the loud slap, Levinas opened her Rabbit eyes.

    “Why is she slapping her?!”

    “Well…?”

    What on earth is happening?

I watched the drama on television with keen interest.

They say they’ll give two shares of the subsidiary, why are they so greedy?

    Just two?

The people on the television were chaebols, fighting over the inheritance left by their parents.

It was impressive to see them scheming for more or openly engaging in political maneuvering.

“Hey, the Master is coming later… Oh dear, they’re watching an adult drama…”

Hanyeoreum, who had returned from running errands, sat down next to us.

As she picked up the remote to change the channel, she ended up sitting next to us to watch the drama.

Morning dramas had a strange charm that captured people’s attention.

    – I even gave you a chance to pick up crumbs.

    “Wow.”

Levinas’s mouth dropped open at the provocative scenes of the morning drama.

Did she feel some anxiety watching the collapsed sisters?

Levinas hurriedly shook out her bag.

    Four carrots, two empty bottles.

There were also dolls, seeds of plants, and the bills she had been diligently collecting until now.

    “Wanga.”

    “Yeah?”

“This is all Levinas’s wealth, and Wanga will give it all.”

Levinas pushed everything she had spilled on the floor towards me.

Watching the empty bottles rolling towards me, Levinas giggled, covering her mouth.

“Levinas won’t fight with Wanga over wealth! Everything she has will be shared!”

    Ahem.

Levinas confidently said something that melted my heart.

Naturally, my tail began to sway gently.

“Thank you. I’ll give you everything I have too, Levinas.”

    “Gaeul too…!”

Gaeul shook out her bag in front of us.

Leaves, stones, tangled thread bundles, and snack wrappers.

Gaeul’s treasures poured out of her bag.

They may seem like nothing special, but these were Gaeul’s treasures and her entire wealth.

Feeling good that she could give all of it away, she smiled.

    “Then I’ll give everything too.”

Saebyeok pulled out three dried anchovies wrapped in paper from her bosom.

While we were all laying out what we had, Bomi was just fidgeting beside us.

    “I, I don’t have anything…”

    “Nothing?!”

    “Uh, yeah… I’m sorry… I really don’t have anything…”

“Hehe! Then Levinas will have the good Bomi!”

    Levinas hugged Bomi tightly.

Only then did a smile bloom on Bomi’s lips.

    “Hehe.”

Thanks to Levinas’s wit, we were able to watch the morning drama in a harmonious atmosphere.

As the morning drama ended, Hanyeoreum immediately switched the channel to a children’s cartoon.

A new animation was airing on the children’s channel.

The protagonist turned out to be a righteous thief who stole money and items to share with the weak.

    “Gaeul! Doyduk! Napu!”

Gaeul pointed at the protagonist who was stealing treasures.

Levinas also opened her Rabbit eyes at the protagonist’s thievery, while Bomi was just giggling.

    “I like that protagonist.”

    “You like a thief?!”

“Yeah. They only steal from bad people like Josephine. And then they give it back to the people.”

    “………!”

Did Levinas realize something from Bomi’s words?

    Levinas’s ears perked up.

“Levinas thought all thieves were bad!”

Levinas jumped up from her seat and ran towards the hotel bedroom.

Sounds of rustling came from the bedroom, and soon Levinas appeared with her face wrapped in tissue.

“Levinas is the righteous phantom thief Nati!”

“Levinas, a phantom thief has to hide their identity, so you shouldn’t put your name in front.”

    “Huh! Matta!”

    Startled, Levinas approached us.

She handed over things that could cover her face, like a mask, a veil, and a hat.

“We are now the righteous phantom thief group!”

    “Wow!”

Gaeul put on the veil Levinas handed her.

It was a veil that only covered her nose and mouth.

Saebyeok wore a mask, and Bomi wore a hat.

I put on a sleep mask, which blocked my vision, but it didn’t matter much.

Even if I couldn’t see, I could act as if I was seeing with my other senses.

“The righteous phantom thief group steals from bad people!”

Saying that, Levinas turned to Hanyeoreum.

Hanyeoreum looked startled and waved her hands.

“Uh, I’m not a bad person?”

    “Hmm…”

“I’ll make something delicious for lunch. Be a good person.”

    “Okay! Got it!”

As Hanyeoreum became a good person and sighed, the sound of the hotel entrance door opening was heard.

We ran towards the hotel door as if we had made a promise.

    “Hand over the treasure!”

Levinas reached out towards the wide-open entrance.

    ‘Huh?’

Isn’t this a robbery group instead of a phantom thief group?

Just as I tilted my head in confusion, a familiar voice came from the open entrance.

    “What treasure?”

At the Master’s question, Levinas paused for a moment, then looked back at me.

It seemed like she was asking me to decide what to ask for.

    “Um…”

Since it’s a joke, should I just go along with it?

I thought of something that could be called a treasure among the expensive things the Master had.

    “A department store…?”

A treasure that is far too luxurious and expensive to be compared to anything else.

Since it was a joke, I threw out something outrageous.

The Master seemed to ponder for a moment, then shrugged his shoulders and asked back.

    “…Give?”
