by adminChapter 347: Our Shark is More Amazing
BOOM!
Saebyeok’s body slam sent the monster flying.
Not just flying – it smashed through the back wall as it went.
The monster kept going until it hit the cave wall outside the laboratory.
THUD!
The impact made the cave collapse.
Large and small rocks showered down onto the monster.
An instant rock tomb had formed.
“Huh.”
I had been drawing my bowstring for battle but could only blink in confusion.
Then I remembered going through dungeons with Saebyeok before and nodded.
Even level one dungeon bosses had died instantly from Saebyeok’s casual punches.
One level higher wouldn’t make much difference.
‘Saebyeok is strong even without mana.’
Maybe I’d been too tense about this level two dungeon.
Scratching the back of my head, I walked toward Saebyeok.
“Saebyeok, that was amazing.”
“Yeah. I am amazing.”
Ahem.
Just as Saebyeok puffed out her chest, the rock pile covering the monster started moving.
“Oh?”
I could’ve sworn I saw its ribs get crushed when it went flying?
I reflexively aimed my bow at the rock pile before realizing.
Zombies don’t die unless you destroy their heads.
“RAAWR!”
It burst out from under the rocks.
I quickly shot an arrow at its head.
Whoosh!
The arrow struck its forehead perfectly.
But it couldn’t penetrate the monster’s thick skull.
The lack of mana had weakened my shots.
‘Damn.’
I’d need to use explosive arrows to make up for the lack of power.
Just as I was reaching for a new arrow-
“Medicine!”
Gaeul ran up beside me and threw a lemon at the monster.
Swoosh!
The lemon flew in an arc.
It would be great if it went in its mouth, but the lemon was falling toward its feet.
The lemon’s trajectory and the monster’s movement.
Calculating everything, I quickly pulled out a new arrow.
Not an explosive one, but a regular arrow.
“Hoo.”
One breath put me into slow motion mode.
Though the lack of mana had weakened me, I could still use this ability fairly well.
‘Need to reduce the power a bit.’
Too much force and the arrow would pierce through the lemon.
I wanted the arrow to carry the lemon with it.
‘This should do it.’
Whoosh!
The arrow, flying slower than before, pierced the lemon.
The arrow carried the lemon on its tip straight toward the monster’s mouth.
“RAAWR!”
Its mouth stayed open to roar.
Perfect for getting the lemon in.
“…!”
Flinch-!
The monster’s body convulsed after eating the lemon.
Even a zombie with no sensation recoiled from the lemon.
What exactly had Levinas created?
As I stood frozen in amazement like the monster-
WHAM!
Saebyeok rushed in and threw a punch at the monster’s head.
She had to jump because of the height difference.
-!
Hit directly by Saebyeok’s punch, the monster flew back without even making a sound.
Maybe it couldn’t make noise because of Levinas’s lemon.
“Got it!”
Gaeul raised her remaining lemon triumphantly.
Behind her, Song Harin stood in shock.
She just gaped without saying anything.
“Well done.”
Choi Jinhyuk, who had been quietly watching us, gave his praise.
Levinas, still hidden under the desk, clapped her hands.
“Amazing! King and Dark King and Gaeul puppy took down the monster together!”
“Yeah. And Levinas helped too.”
“Levinas too?”
“Yeah. You made the lemon more sour, remember? That stunned the monster. It helped a lot.”
“Oh right! Right!”
The children nodded, and Levinas’s ears perked up.
Her eyes sparkled brightly.
“So we all four caught it together?!”
“Yeah. The four of us got it.”
“Ah!”
Hooray.
As Levinas threw her arms up in celebration, Song Harin approached.
Tension was visible on her face.
“Were you… successful?”
“Successful?”
“With the ether injection.”
Ether.
The mana of our world.
After considering how to answer, I just shook my head.
To prevent any potential idealization of ether.
Though that might be hard for someone who was experimented on.
“We weren’t injected with ether. We had it from the start.”
“There are people born with ether?”
“Yes. We’re…”
How should I put this?
Hmm, I rubbed my chin thinking.
That’s when Levinas called out to Song Harin.
“A secret organization to save the world!”
“Secret organization…?”
“Yeah!”
Secret organization.
A magical phrase that could hide many things.
I quickly backed up Levinas’s quick thinking.
“Sorry we can’t tell you more. It’s our organization’s rules.”
“Organization… I see…”
Song Harin looked at each of us before suddenly bowing deeply.
She gave a very long thank you for saving her.
“Hehe.”
Getting thanked made me feel shy somehow.
As I smiled awkwardly scratching my cheek, I felt mana fluctuating where we first came in.
A portal home had formed.
“We should probably head back now…”
“…I can’t go with you, can I? I can feel ether flowing in my body too, though not as much as you all.”
“Hmm…”
What should we do?
I looked toward Choi Jinhyuk.
He approached Song Harin.
“Do you have a home?”
“…Probably not anymore.”
“Then we’ll set you up with housing and living expenses, so please wait there until we contact you.”
“Ah…! Yes…!”
Song Harin’s shoulders relaxed completely.
She seemed happy to be able to join us.
Watching Song Harin’s reaction, I whispered to Choi Jinhyuk.
“Did you make money in this world…?”
“Yeah. Our guild has some famous writers and composers who gave permission to sell their work here.”
Wow.
I never thought of that.
My eyes went wide at the unexpected method.
“But don’t you need ID to do anything?”
“That’s why we’re selling through Yoon Da-in.”
“Ah… weren’t there copyright issues? Like the same songs or writings existing here?”
“We checked for that too, but there weren’t any.”
“Wow…”
Choi Jinhyuk’s handling of things was more thorough than I imagined.
I couldn’t help but applaud.
“I’ll take Song Harin to her place and come back, so you all head home first.”
“Okay.”
I moved toward the portal with the children.
We said goodbye to Song Harin.
“See you again.”
“Bye bye!”
“Yeah. Let’s definitely meet again. Thank you so much for saving me.”
We all waved goodbye to Song Harin before taking the portal home.
My shoulders were sky high after returning home.
**
“So you defeated the bad guys?”
“Yes. Though not all of them. We saw signs they’d emptied the lab and moved somewhere else.”
“I see. Still, getting one step closer is something.”
Sophia patted my head saying I did well.
My tail wagged at the pleasant touch.
“King! Shark!”
Levinas came over to us holding her smartphone.
“What is it?”
“Can Levinas and everyone go here?”
“This is…”
An aquarium appeared on Levinas’s smartphone screen.
A huge aquarium filled with thousands of species of fish.
“Amazing. Where is this?”
“Small!”
Levinas pointed out the window.
It seemed to be somewhere near home.
Yeomyeong was an amazing neighborhood after all.
It wouldn’t be strange to have all kinds of facilities.
“Okay. Should we go together?”
“Yeah!”
**
We all went to the aquarium together.
Thankfully, Sophia paid for our admission.
“Thank you, Sophia.”
“Of course. What else would I spend money on?”
“Hehe.”
I walked around the aquarium with everyone.
The first thing we saw was a seahorse.
It was floating around in a moderately sized tank.
“King, what’s this…?”
“It’s called a seahorse.”
“Seahorse… a horse that lives in the sea…?!”
“Well…? It’s not really a horse, but maybe it’s called that because it looks like one? I’m not sure exactly.”
Should I search the internet?
Just as I was reaching for the smartphone in Levinas’s pocket.
Levinas covered her mouth and giggled.
“The sea horse is so tiny, only fairies could ride it.”
“Yeah. This must be a fairy’s horse.”
A fairy’s horse.
Though that wasn’t true, there was no need to destroy her imagination.
I withdrew my hand from Levinas’s pocket and went back to watching the seahorse.
“Master!”
Then Gaeul came running over waving from far away.
She seemed quite urgent, but knowing not to run inside, she walked quickly instead.
“What’s wrong, Gaeul?”
“Fish!”
Gaeul pointed somewhere.
Then she stomped her feet before grabbing Sophia’s wrist.
It looked like she wanted to go somewhere with Sophia.
“Hmm?”
We all followed behind Gaeul.
There was a huge cylindrical tank that could be called the aquarium’s main attraction.
“Wow.”
Thousands of fish.
A huge shark lazily swam among them.
It was an amazing sight that left our mouths hanging open.
“Looks delicious.”
Saebyeok pressed against the tank, licking her lips.
There were certainly many tasty-looking fish.
“Which one looks tastiest to you, Gaeul?”
I turned to Gaeul asking playfully.
But Gaeul was having a staring contest with the shark in the tank.
Ahem.
Gaeul puffed out her chest in front of the shark.
While still holding Sophia’s arm.
Our shark is cooler and more amazing.
She seemed to want to show that off.
