    Chapter 317: Final Boss

The moment the coffee arrived, everyone turned to look at Gaeul.

Would Gaeul really be able to drink the coffee?

I could instinctively sense that everyone in the cafe was thinking the same thing.

“Gaeul, do you think you can drink the coffee?”

    “Eek…”

Gaeul’s eyebrows, which had been confident before, drooped as soon as she saw the coffee.

As she trembled, Gaeul suddenly frowned and clutched her stomach.

    “Ouchie!”

    “Huh?”

    “Ouchie! Ouchie!”

Gaeul was complaining of a stomachache.

    Did she eat something bad?

Just as I started to worry, Gaeul’s expression returned to normal.

    “Master.”

Gaeul pointed at the coffee and clutched her stomach again.

Then she frowned once more and complained of a stomachache.

    “Ouchie! Ouchie!”

    Ah.

    I understood what she meant.

Gaeul wasn’t good at speaking, but she often explained things this way.

“You think your tummy will hurt if you drink the coffee?”

    “Huh!”

    Gaeul’s tail wagged.

    It seemed I’d guessed correctly.

The coffee’s unique black color did look unhealthy.

“If you think it’ll hurt, you don’t have to force yourself to drink it.”

    “……”

Gaeul stared at the coffee with frightened eyes.

After a while, some kind of confidence seemed to grow in her, and she raised her eyebrows fiercely.

Her brave look made me gape in surprise.

“Are you really going to drink it?”

    “Yeah.”

Gaeul picked up the coffee cup.

She sniffed it, then touched the very tip of her tongue to the coffee and quickly pulled it away.

It was such a tiny touch that I wasn’t sure if her tongue had even made contact.

    “Huh?”

It was such a small taste that I wondered if she could even taste it.

Despite this, Gaeul looked like she’d accomplished something.

    “Wow! Gaeul puppy drank coffee!”

    “That’s amazing.”

    “To drink such bitter coffee!”

    Clap clap clap.

    Levinas and Saebyeok applauded.

The cafe customers and students joined in the applause.

    “Ahem!”

Gaeul puffed out her chest like Levinas.

She seemed proud of having drunk the coffee.

“King! Isn’t coffee only for adults?!”

“Well… I think it’s okay for kids to have a little.”

    “Really?!”

Levinas, who had been contemplating something while looking at the coffee, dipped her fish-shaped bread slightly into it.

She took a bite of the coffee-soaked fish-shaped bread.

Levinas’s face was full of confidence as she ate the bread.

    “Wow, Levinas drank coffee too.”

    “That’s amazing.”

    This time, everyone applauded Levinas.

Ahem, Levinas puffed out her chest.

    Gaeul and Levinas.

While the two children were feeling proud, Saebyeok picked up the coffee cup this time.

Unlike the other children, Saebyeok took a big sip of coffee.

She drank so much that you could see the coffee level drop.

“Oh, Dark King, isn’t it bitter…?”

    “It is.”

    Slurp.

Saebyeok took another sip of coffee and put the cup down.

Surprised by how much she drank compared to them, Levinas and Gaeul’s ears trembled.

“Gaeul puppy, can you drink that much?”

    “Huh…”

Gaeul shook her head at Levinas’s question.

The children’s eyes were filled with respect for Saebyeok.

    ‘As expected of Saebyeok.’

To think she could drink so much coffee.

By the way, should I drink coffee too, given how things are going?

I don’t like drinking coffee because it’s bitter.

I looked at the children cautiously and carefully opened my mouth.

    “Um, I don’t want to drink coffee…”

“Okay! You don’t have to force yourself!”

“That’s right. You don’t need to do things you don’t like.”

Saebyeok patted my head, saying it was okay.

Her touch somehow made me feel relieved.

    “Sorry… Maybe I should try just a tiny bit…”

I think I could manage about as much as Levinas ate.

Just as I was thinking this and about to pick up the coffee cup,

Gaeul quickly hid the coffee cup on her side.

    “Master!”

    “Yes?”

    “Ouchie ouchie.”

    Gaeul clutched her stomach.

Then she frowned again, complaining of a stomachache.

    “Ouchie! Ouchie!”

    Aha.

    I understood what she meant.

She was saying I might get a stomachache, so I shouldn’t drink it.

Gaeul handed the hidden coffee cup to the Master standing next to her.

    “Young ouchie ouchie. Adult.”

She meant children can’t drink it, so adults should.

I could easily interpret what Gaeul was saying.

    “I see.”

The Master seemed to understand Gaeul’s words too, as he nodded and took the coffee cup.

Adults really can drink coffee well.

My taste buds have become sensitive, so I can’t drink bitter things.

Of course, I wasn’t particularly upset about not being able to drink coffee.

The milk I drank with my sensitive taste buds was fantastic anyway.

“Gyeoul, have this milk instead of coffee.”

    “Okay.”

I sipped the milk Yoon Chaerin handed me.

It was so delicious that my tail wagged a lot.

    **

After eating fish-shaped bread at the cafe, we went outside to properly enjoy the festival.

Just in case, we held hands with nearby adults while walking, changing who we held hands with every five minutes.

First was the Master, second was Jeffrey.

This time, I held Yeoreum’s hand.

“Gyeoul, there’s a photo panel over there.”

    “A photo panel?”

There was a clown panel where Yeoreum was pointing.

Only the face part had a hole in it, and it looked like we were supposed to put our faces there.

“Gyeoul, want to put your face in there? I’ll take a picture for you.”

    “Okay.”

I let go of Yeoreum’s hand and ran behind the panel.

The clown panel was so tall that I couldn’t reach it even on tiptoes.

    “I can’t reach it.”

    “I’ll lift you up.”

Jung Yu-na, who was enjoying the festival with us, came towards me.

She was holding Levinas’s hand but let go for a moment to lift me up.

    “Up we go.”

    Jung Yu-na lifted me up.

When I put my face in the panel, I could see Yeoreum grinning.

“Oh my, Gyeoul’s become a clown?”

    “Does it look weird?”

    “No, it’s really cute.”

    Cute, she says.

It was embarrassing to hear that in front of our truly cute children.

Hehe, as I was laughing awkwardly, a male student in a school uniform ran towards us from a distance.

“I’m sorry. I was eating something. Are you going to do this?”

    “Huh? What is this?”

    “It’s water balloon throwing.”

The male student picked up a nearby basket.

The basket was full of water balloons, and he put one in Yeoreum’s hand.

“You’re supposed to throw this and hit the target.”

    “What?”

So this wasn’t for taking pictures, but for throwing water balloons and hitting targets?

If Yeoreum throws a water balloon and hits me, it’ll hurt quite a bit.

My startled tail stood straight up.

    “You, you shouldn’t throw it…”

“Oh, I won’t throw it, Gyeoul. Your sister won’t throw it.”

Yeoreum waved her hand and put the water balloon back in the basket.

Jung Yu-na didn’t know either, so she quickly put me down.

“We just wanted to take pictures. Is that okay?”

“Oh! Yes! Of course that’s fine!”

The male student nodded, saying we could do that.

Thanks to this, we were able to put our faces in the panel and take as many pictures as we wanted.

Gaeul seemed to like the teddy bear panel and kept putting her face in it.

    “Gaeul’s become a teddy bear.”

    “Huh!”

Gaeul stuck out her tongue and smiled brightly.

Her innocent look made the people nearby exclaim in delight.

“Look at the kids. They’re so adorable.”

“Ah, I’m glad we came to the festival.”

Our kids are cute, aren’t they?

My tail wagged from side to side.

Levinas, who ran to my side, got hit by my swaying tail.

“King! There’s something amazing over there!”

    “Something amazing?”

    “Yeah! It’s amazing for King!”

    “For me…?”

    We moved to follow Saebyeok.

We arrived at a shooting range.

It was a game where you shoot targets and get prizes based on your score.

“Isn’t this something King is good at?!”

    “Well… that’s true, but…”

Shooting and hitting targets was my specialty.

However, I didn’t know if I could hit with a toy gun.

Usually, these things have their sights adjusted incorrectly.

“King, look at the first prize over there!”

    “First prize?”

    First prize.

Festival free pass for a perfect score.

It was a pass that let you enjoy the festival for a week without paying.

    “Wow.”

    That’s an amazing prize.

I wonder if I should try this?

I looked back at the Master.

    “Uncle, can I try this?”

“If you want to, go ahead.”

The entry fee was 5,000 won.

It was expensive because the prize was so good.

When the Master paid, a female student nervously handed me a gun and twenty bullets.

    “The archer is here…”

    “We’re done for.”

“Why, is Gyeoul good at archery?”

“They say she can hit a monster’s eye from 200 meters away.”

    “Shit.”

I wondered why the shooting range students were so nervous.

They’d heard rumors about me being good at archery.

There’s no need to be nervous since this is my first time shooting a toy gun.

But their words made me nervous instead.

I scratched my cheek as I loaded the magazine.

But the firing stand was too high, so this time the Master lifted me up.

    “Hey, look at that.”

    “Why… oh…”

Curious about how an adventurer who uses a bow would shoot a gun, people’s gazes gathered around.

    The pressure was building.

Maybe I shouldn’t have agreed to do this.

I decided to shoot quickly and leave.

    ‘Hmm…’

The distance to the target was exactly 30 meters.

Because the distance was short, the target was quite small.

The very center of the circle was smaller than my fingernail.

I wonder if I can hit it.

    Pop-

The first shot I fired to adjust my aim hit the center of the target.

    Pop-

The second shot also hit the center of the target.

    ‘Oh.’

    The sights are well-adjusted.

I hit everything just by aiming as I saw.

Now that I’d adjusted my aim, I decided to shoot quickly after that.

    Pop-

    Pop-

    Pop-

    Pop-

    Pop-

    Pop-

All the bullets I fired rapidly like automatic fire hit the center of the target.

    “Wow, what is that?”

“Well, Gyeoul is famous for being good at archery. A gun must be much easier.”

    “Go Gyeoul!”

    “Only five shots left.”

I shot the gun while receiving cheers from the festival-goers.

At first, the attention was burdensome, but thinking that we were enjoying the festival together made me feel good.

    And so.

    Pop-

    Pop-

I was able to hit the center of the target with all twenty bullets.

    “Ooooh.”

    “Amazing.”

    “She really did it.”

    The festival-goers congratulated us.

Gaeul and Levinas puffed up their shoulders as if they had shot the gun themselves.

    “Ugh.”

    “Oh no…”

“The final boss on the first day of the festival…”

While everyone was happy, only the shooting range students looked dejected.

I felt a bit sorry for them.
