Mesugaki Tank Enters the Academy –
    239

    “It’s been a while,
Employer. You’ve certainly stirred things up grandly, haven’t you?”

As soon as I stepped into the
shop, Karia greeted me. She was smiling as she spoke, but her eyes
    said otherwise.

    Behind her smiling eyes, she
was clearly chastising me, asking why I did something so crazy.

Well, it was a mad act indeed.
Not only did I call the Second Prince an idiot, but I also duelled
him, and then picked another fight with him immediately after the
    duel.

    “If you wanted to test
Benedict’s stomach endurance, you should have just poisoned him. Do
you know how annoying it’s been with him constantly summoning me
    after hearing the news?”

    Karia grumbled about how she
couldn’t get any work done because of a jittery Benedict. After a
bit of nagging, she let out a deep sigh.

    “The results weren’t bad,
so I’ll leave it at that. But please, think before you act next
    time.”

I did think about it. I
planned everything out with Grandpa before taking action. But
explaining that wouldn’t convince her, so I decided to keep my
    mouth shut.

    “Anyway, thanks to your
grand stunts, your fame is spreading rapidly.”

    The duel between Lucy Allen,
the widely known crazy woman, and the Second Prince of the Soladin
Kingdom was hot gossip among thrill-seekers, and as the story spread,
so did the recognition of the Second Prince’s skills and my own
    abilities, which had overwhelmed him.

    Karia explained that now,
nobody doubted my talent, especially after I conquered the Academy’s
dungeon in a single day alone and easily blocked the aura with ego
    wielded by the Second Prince.

    With the addition of this
recent event to the duel I had against the First Prince at the Partan
Festival, any sceptics of my abilities had vanished.

    “Currently, your external
evaluation goes like this; As expected from the Allen Family, she
possesses overwhelming martial prowess and quick wits, but has a
nasty and unruly personality typical of such a noble.”

If I were to summarise that,
it would be; A highly skilled bitch.

    It looks like the reputation
that was confined within the Academy is now spreading across the
    Continent.

    It’s good that my abilities
are recognized, but it’s a bit unsettling that they think my
    personality is bad as well.

    Well, considering the recent
incident, the fact that I called the Second Prince an Idiot Prince
probably spread too. That would definitely tarnish rather than
    improve my reputation.

    “There are also comments
related to the Church. Some say you’ve repented, that you might be
pious, or that you have become favourable towards the Church.”

    Most of the comments related
    to the Church were positive.

    It was inevitable. Lucy’s past
was too tragic, and all my recent actions were seen favourably by the
    Church.

    Receiving a divine revelation,
acquiring Ruel’s Mace, exorcising two of Agra’s Curses, handling
divine magic with a substantial amount of divine energy, and being
    close to Phoebe.

    If Lucy wasn’t the subject
of these stories, anyone would have nodded, calling me a devout
    believer.

“It seems even the Church is
starting to pay attention. Just so you know, Employer.”

The moment I heard I was
attracting the Church’s attention, my brow furrowed.

    Getting noticed by the Church
is never a good thing. The current Church isn’t interested in devout
    people.

    …Hmm.

Maybe I should ask Johan to
spread some bad rumours about me later.

    “Oh, and there’s also
this. A person with an appearance as if sculpted by God.”

    ‘…What’s that supposed
    to mean?’

    “Auntie, what nonsense are
    you spouting now?”

    “The Apostle of Beauty and
Art created a song about you and spread it around.”

Oh, that pervert I met at the
    Partan Festival.

I didn’t want to engage in any
lengthy conversation, so I just told him to do as he pleased and sent
him away. And he made a song?

    “The lyrics are a bit
grotesque, but the song is so good that the bards often sing it. Want
    to hear it?”

For a moment, I was curious,
but I suppressed my curiosity and shook my head.

No matter how I think about
it, the moment I hear that song, it feels like I’ll be severely
    affected.

    It’s a song made by a pervert
whose level of perverseness rivals that of the perverted fox.
Clearly, the perversion would be reflected in the song, and I don’t
    particularly want to hear that.

    “Well, anyway, thanks to the
certainty in your talent, everyone’s eyes are on you. Because you
are Benedict’s Daughter. Anyone who remembers the might of that man
has no choice but to have high expectations for his child.”

    His daughter might inherit the
glory her father created. Perhaps not only inheriting it but also
    creating even greater glory.

    The high expectations formed
by the name of Allen and my various achievements significantly raised
    my value as a person.

I am the daughter of a monster
who single-handedly changed the course of war. Who wouldn’t want to
    have me under their command?

It would be much better for
them to have difficulty managing me than for me to become an enemy.

    “Despite causing a huge
humiliation to the Second Prince, the Second Queen still favours
    you.”

    Even though I’ve succeeded
in making the Second Prince widely known for his incompetence, that
was just a part of the result. I gave more humiliation than benefit
    to the Second Prince.

Given this, it would be normal
for the Second Queen, who wants the Second Prince to become king, to
narrow her eyes at me, but this time she didn’t. My value was simply
    too great.

    “Now, onto the main point.”

    Karia, who had been speaking
leisurely until now, suddenly lowered her voice.

    “Alsatine is going to
introduce you to one of the Second Queen’s people. Then they’ll first
    talk about the recent incident.”

Of course. The fact that this
incident has spread widely also means that the nickname Idiot Prince
    has spread as well.

    The Second Prince’s camp,
whose reputation is already precarious, cannot simply ignore the
    nickname Idiot Prince.

    “I know it’s a very tough
task for you, but regarding the title issue, you must adopt a humble
stance. Understood? Be humble. At least protect their pride!”

    Though I understood what Karia
was saying, I couldn’t bring myself to give a sincere response.

    The [Mesugaki] skill would
never allow me to take a humble stance. If that were possible in the
first place, I wouldn’t have called the Second Prince the Idiot
    Prince!

    “They won’t argue for
long. Anyway, the Second Prince’s side is not in the clear on this
matter. Once the discussion is over, they will try to win you over.”

They might bring up the sins
of my actions or whisper many sweet talks. After pausing her words
briefly, Karia continued with a smile.

    “Whatever they say, just
refuse outright. It’s not worth listening to.”

    Grandpa and Karia’s opinions
coincided. They believed there was no need to listen to anything
being said. Just let it go in one ear and out the other, and get up
    when it’s over.

Curious as to why they spoke
as if it were obvious, I asked, and Grandpa chuckled.

    ‘No.’

Of course not. As an Apostle
of Armadi, I must follow the commands given by him.

One day, I will surely have to
confront the Evil God with my own hands.

To survive that day, to see
the end of This World, and to kick Armadi to the curb, I must become
much stronger than I am now.

    ‘No. Not at all.’

I don’t need any support right
now. As I always say, I can obtain nearly anything I desire
    immediately.

    ‘That’s right.’

    Aside from the influence of
those around me, I have Benedict at my back.

Even if he was past his prime,
who would dare to provoke the Monster who wielded a sword against the
Evil God of Fire in a fury?

Ah, I get it. So you’re saying
that the stock of Lucy Inc. is at its lowest right now.

Yes, I can’t sell at this
point. I need to aim for Mars!

    Understanding Grandpa’s
explanation, I firmly resolved that, regardless of what the Second
Queen says, I won’t be swayed and stood up.

When I met Alsatine after a
long time, he looked exhausted. Worried about his appearance, which
made me wonder if he had slept at all recently, I asked if he was
    alright, and Alsatine smiled.

    “I’ve been busy learning
various things from my Master. It feels good as I fill in what I’ve
    been lacking.”

    Though, his response of
feeling happy carried the look of a private soldier overly joyous
    about military life.

Well, if he says he’s happy,
    then I suppose it’s alright.

Alsatine guided me to the same
shop where I had previously met Gus Newman.

    Following the staff’s guidance
as before, I opened the door to a room and was greeted by a familiar
    old gentleman’s face.

    “Hello, Lady Lucy of the
Allen Family. My name is Nabil. I am one of the knights of the Bedfor
Family and a confidant of the Second Queen. Pleased to meet you.”

    Nabil.

He is one of the confidants of
the Bedfor Family and the person the Second Queen chooses for
important tasks, whether in the light or the shadows.

    The fact that he introduced
himself as Nabil and appeared here means the Second Queen regards me
    highly.

From now on, what comes out of
his mouth will essentially reflect the Second Queen’s words.

    ‘Hello, Nabil.’

    “Yes, nice to meet you,
    Fake Grandpa.”

    Fake, huh? That’s accurate.
Among what Nabil presents, there are few things that are genuine.

    I had insulted Nabil, a
significant member among the Second Queen’s confidants, but I felt
    indifferent.

It’s not the first time, and I
know he’s not the type to get riled up over such things.

    “Ha ha. Just as I’ve
heard, the Lady does not call people by their names.”

    Nabil laughed cheerfully and
invited me to sit down. I wondered what he had in mind to persuade
me. Given what the Second Prince did, they must have prepared
    something substantial.

    “Lady Allen, I believe
you might have some guesses about why I am here. I have several
things to discuss with you. Recently—”

    ‘Could you get straight to
    the point?’

    “Fake Grandpa, can you
stop dragging it out? Do I look like someone with as much leisure as
    you?”

    I interrupted Nabil, not
wanting to hear the lengthy explanation of something I was going to
refuse anyway. He shrugged his shoulders.

    “Oh dear. My apologies.
When you get older, you tend to ramble more.”

Pretending to be old by making
clicking sounds, he laughed, but soon his laughter stopped, and he
    spoke in a serious tone.

    “First and foremost, I
want to convey that I am not the one who will converse with you
    today.”

    …Huh? What does he mean?

    As I blinked, not
understanding his words, Nabil took a Crystal Sphere out of his
pocket and placed it on the table.

    As the magic infused the
Crystal Sphere, it activated, and a woman’s face appeared as a
    projection above it.

    Sharp eyes, intensely striking
pupils, wrinkles between her brows, and tightly pressed lips.

Just looking at her face, I
could tell she likely had a difficult personality, and I froze in
    place.

    “Hello, Lady Allen.”

    No.

    Oh.

    So,

“I am Serene Soladin. I hold
the title of the Second Queen of the current Kingdom.”

    …Am I in big trouble if I
    speak up?
