Mesugaki Tank Enters the Academy –
    228

Using a simple turn of my
head, I dodged the punch aimed at my head and then stepped back to
    avoid the follow-up attack.

    Kicking his poorly guarded
thigh, I made the Idiot Representative stagger, but he managed to
    regain his balance.

    Although less than three
minutes had passed since the duel began, the situation was already
    clear.

    I hadn’t allowed a single
attack to hit me, but the Idiot Representative was already in
tatters. If this duel continued, it would only be a one-sided beating
    from me.

If I were a noble known for my
grace and high character, I would suggest he admit defeat and stop,
but I wasn’t going to do that.

    “Not even three minutes
have passed, and your legs are already shaking?♡ Are you at your
limit?♡ Really?♡ Even a rabbit would last longer than this♡”

    Someone like Lucy, the epitome
of a bitch, wouldn’t care about that!

…Well, that was just a joke.
The real reason I kept pushing him, even though it wouldn’t be
surprising if he collapsed any moment now, was because he still
    hadn’t spoken about his backer.

    Despite repeatedly stomping on
his self-esteem with the [Mesugaki] Skill, giving him just enough
shock not to make him fall, he wasn’t saying anything. Is he a loyal
    dog to his master?

    Honestly, I’m starting to
suspect that he never had anyone worth being loyal to in the first
    place.

    Grandpa isn’t infallible.
Didn’t we experience trouble at the last festival because of his
    nonsense?

    “Hurrah!”

As I was lost in thought, the
Idiot Representative charged at me again.

Is he trying to tackle me with
    his shoulder?

    His trajectory is way too
obvious. I lightly moved my foot to dodge him and then tripped him by
    hooking his ankle.

    Unable to control his speed,
the Idiot Representative rolled on the ground and crashed into the
    wall with a loud thud.

    He tried to get up
immediately, supporting himself on the ground, but he failed.

    His body wasn’t obeying his
    mind.

    Seeing him faceplant on the
ground multiple times, I was certain that he had reached his limit.

    Let’s interrogate him one
    last time and end this.

    If that doesn’t work, I’ll
ask the other two guys left. Judging by the fearful looks they’re
giving me, they should offer some useful information.

    Moving next to the Idiot
Representative, I placed my foot firmly on the back of his head as he
    panted heavily.

    “Hey. Is this the end?♡
    Don’t you have something more?♡”

    “…”

    “You requested a duel
because you had something to rely on, right?♡ Oh, did you actually
trust your own skills?♡ Did you think you could win?♡ Puhahaha♡
    It’s a problem that you’re too weak, isn’t it♡ Being looked down
upon by a pathetic insect like this♡”

    Beyond his head being
trampled, I could hear a grunt filled with resentment, but that was
    all.

    The Idiot Representative’s
body had already reached its limit.

    “Come to think of it,
there’s no way an insect like you would have something to rely on♡
You’re just a lowly commoner♡ Your martial arts skills are a
complete mess♡ Your stamina is pathetic♡ And your brain is just
    an ugly decoration♡”

    There was a slight reaction
when I mentioned having something to rely on.

Is there something I can do?
Should I steer the conversation in that direction?

    “Only an idiot would
acknowledge someone sloppy like this♡ It’s obvious♡ Otherwise, no
    one would pay attention!♡”

    “What do you know about
that person to speak such nonsense?!”

    Oh? Oh, oh, oh?!

    Is there someone behind this
    idiot?!

    Hey, Idiot Representative.
Yeah, I don’t know anything about this person you’re talking about.

    That’s why I’m really curious.
So, why don’t you explain a bit about that person?

    “How would I know? They
    only exist in your delusions♡”

    “…”

    Hey, closing your mouth now
won’t take back what you’ve already said. Once you start talking,
you should go all the way! That’s just manners, right?

    Did you sleep through
etiquette classes at the Academy?! Well, nothing can be done! I’ll
    make sure you follow manners!

    “What kind of person is
this master in your delusions?♡ Is it a woman?♡ Do they pat you
and comfort you when you come crying?♡ Ugh♡ Just imagining it is
    revolting♡”

    “The Second Prince would
    never!”

    As the Idiot Representative
shouted and then closed his mouth, the entire Conference Room fell
into silence. I was stunned too.

The name that came out of his
mouth was completely unexpected, making me blink in disbelief.

    The Second Prince?

Is he talking about that Idiot
    Prince?

No way, was there really an
    idiot behind this idiot?!

    No. That can’t. That can’t
    be true, right?

    The Idiot Prince, who likes
strong and talented people, wouldn’t show any interest in such a
    sloppy person.

    But this idiot wouldn’t
mention the Second Prince without a reason!

    ‘Oh… What should I do?!’

This is beyond what I know.

    The Second Prince I know
wouldn’t be interested in someone like this.

So there must be some sort of
    variable.

    ‘It’s the Second Prince!’

If the person this idiot is
relying on is the Second Prince, it explains why he was so full of
    himself in front of me.

    In the community, he was
nicknamed the Idiot Prince because his actions were so foolish, but
    things are different in reality.

The Second Prince is vying for
the throne against the First Prince. Unlike Arthur, who has no real
claim to the throne, the Second Prince has a legitimate faction and
enough power to support his claim.

    ‘Isn’t this a huge
    problem?!’

    Even with my panic, Grandpa
    remained calm.

    ‘…Really?’

    So it doesn’t matter.

Even if you drag this guy to
the Second Prince right now, the only response you’ll get will be
that he doesn’t know such a person and to deal with it as you see
    fit.

    Listening to Grandpa’s
explanation, I felt the worries that had filled my mind start to
    dissipate.

    ‘Grandpa, could you please
just get to the point? I feel like my head is going to explode with
everything going on right now. From the way you’re talking, it seems
you’ve already reached a conclusion, so could you just tell me?’

    ‘Really?!’

    ‘…Something to do? Then,
    just tell me that.’

    ‘No! I’ll listen quietly!’

When Rob was a child waiting
eagerly for the travelling minstrels, his parents always told him to
show respect to the nobles. They said to just nod at whatever those
    people said.

    Young Rob didn’t fully
understand what that meant, but he followed his parents’ words
    unquestioningly and showed his respect.

That was until the noble of
the territory where Rob lived fled in front of a dungeon.

    That day. The day Rob’s
    village was in danger.

On the day Rob first used the
sword taught to him by his mercenary father to slay monsters.

    Rob thought; Why should I
    respect the nobles?

    As time passed, that thought
    grew stronger.

He began to recognize his own
    talent.

    Witnessed the misdeeds of
    noble children causing trouble.

    Got accepted into Soul Academy
    where those brats attended.

    Received the Second Prince’s
    acknowledgment as a commoner.

    Advanced to the second year
    with grades surpassing many nobles.

    Through all these experiences,
one thought solidified in Rob’s mind:

    ‘A person’s value is not
determined by their blood. A person’s value is defined by their
    abilities.’

Had Mane heard this, he would
have contemplated how to kill this bastard. But Rob did not doubt
    himself.

    What’s more, he harboured the
crazy thought that he would prove this by climbing the social ladder.

There was one basis for Rob’s
    daring beliefs.

Even as a commoner who did not
    respect nobles.

    Even as someone who outwardly
showed respect but constantly looked down on them inside.

    He believed that the Second
Prince, the only person he recognized and wished recognition from,
    was watching him.

    The beginning of this belief
was on the day of an exam.

By chance, he had a sparring
match with the Second Prince. He did his best but was utterly
    defeated.

It wasn’t a matter of bad luck
or inadequate preparation. There was no such excuse to be found.

    It was simply overwhelming.

A difference so clear that if
they fought a hundred times, he would lose a hundred times.

    As Rob stood there, staring
blankly at the Second Prince in his stunned state, the Second Prince
said; “If properly trained, you could become a useful knight.”

    From that moment on, the
Second Prince looked after Rob in various ways.

    He would have his subordinates
give him money to buy weapons and armour.

    He would provide him with
    precious potions.

    He even gifted him
opportunities to learn swordsmanship from connections he had.

    Thanks to this continuous
support, Rob was always searching for a way to repay this kindness.

That’s why he nodded when the
Second Prince’s subordinate came to him with a task.

    It wasn’t a difficult request,
    after all.

    “I’ve heard there is
significant resentment among commoners towards Lucy Allen recently.
Use that to harass her for us.”

    What he was suggesting were
the kinds of pranks that commoners often played on minor nobles.

    Petty tricks that, even if
caught, wouldn’t directly implicate the one who ordered them.

    “Is that all?”

    “Yes. Oh, right. If Lucy
Allen starts interrogating you, just suggest a trial by combat.”

    “…What is a trial by
    combat?”

    “That is…”

Rob was taken out of his
    thoughts by a female voice.

    “Hmm. Seems there’s
    nothing more to see here.”

Rob, who was startled and woke
up from his sleep, found himself unable to move. His arms and legs
were bound, and even though he opened his eyes, his vision was pitch
black as if he was blindfolded.

    “You’re awake? You slept
soundly. Thanks to that, I got to see some interesting things in your
    dreams.”

    “Mmph! Mmmph! Mmmph!”

    ‘What’s going on? Who are
these people? What’s going to happen to me now?’

    Despite the confusion filling
Rob’s mind, the voice of the person who had tied him up was
    unnervingly calm.

    “Are you very surprised?
Don’t worry. Nothing much will happen. After a deep sleep, you won’t
    even remember any of this.”

    “Mmmph!”

    “Ah. Right. I should
    mention this.”

    “If you mess with our
employer again, there will be serious consequences.”

    Karia conveyed this warning
before putting Rob to sleep again.

    ‘By tomorrow, he will have
forgotten all about tonight, but the recent warning will linger in
    his subconscious, tormenting him.

    Honestly, I’m not sure if
he’ll have a next time, and even if he tries something, he won’t be
much of a threat to our employer, but you never know.’

    “Disciple?”

    “I’m already on it.”

    Watching Alsatine erase the
various magic spells placed around the area, Karia stroked her chin
    thoughtfully.

    ‘Hmm. Isn’t our employer too
    popular?’
