Mesugaki Tank Enters the Academy –
    197

    “This is bad.”

It seemed I wasn’t the only
    one thinking that.

The Thug remained calm as he
saw who our competitor was and spoke up with a composed voice.

    “Countess Artea is one of
the top merchants on the continent. Competing against her would be
    incredibly difficult.”

    His opinion matched mine
    exactly.

    The moment that woman decided
she wanted the stone tablet, my chances of winning the auction became
    zero.

    This place is a battleground
    solely decided by money.

If I had known Isabel would
show up, I would have prepared differently, but I didn’t even know
    Lucy was banned from entry.

    “We’ll keep going for now,
but don’t get your hopes up.”

The Thug said this and raised
the placard, but the opponent was relentless.

    The quick rise in prices
showed just how determined Isabel was to obtain the tablet.

    “Three hundred! Three
    hundred gold!”

    The bidding price escalated
quickly, soon reaching the limit of what I had on hand.

    Maybe they hadn’t
anticipated the price going this high.

    The auction house was buzzing
with noise, and the auctioneer’s face was filled with joy, but
silence hung heavy in our private room.

    I could see everyone was
    looking to me for guidance.

    Damn it. Nothing’s going my
    way.

What should I do? There is a
way to get more money quickly.

    I could hand over various
valuable items currently in my inventory to the Thug and use the
    funds available here.

In addition to what I received
last time from the Georg Family, I’ve gathered quite a few items, so
I could pull together a significant amount of money.

But would it really make a
    difference?

    Forcing Isabel to spend even
more money would only result in that item ending up in her hands
    anyway.

I remember one event from the
game where Isabel once spent a thousand gold in one go to get what
    she wanted.

I sighed and shook my head in
    silence.

    The Thug then lowered the
    placard.

    “Three hundred! Three
    hundred gold! Sold!”

    Let’s look at it positively.

The fact that Isabel has the
tablet means it will be stored in her warehouse—it won’t disappear
    anywhere.

    It’s better for the location
to be known rather than uncertain.

    Moreover, Isabel is a devout
    believer.

    Though her methods are quite
different from the usual followers, she genuinely believes in Armadi.

So later, I could take Phoebe
along, use Grandpa as collateral, or in the worst-case scenario,
    reveal my identity…

No, that’s not it. Things seem
    to be going quite awry.

    ‘Indeed.’

I went through all the trouble
of wearing this Gothic Lolita outfit, only to miss out on the item
right in front of my eyes!

It’s like I did this just to
amuse that Pedophile Pervert Armadi and perverted Fox!

    It’s so frustrating! So
    unfair!

The only silver lining is that
the stone tablet was auctioned relatively early.

If the items I wanted more had
come up before the tablet, I would have had to give up on everything
with tears in my eyes. And then I’d be lamenting losing the tablet
    too.

When I think about that, it
doesn’t seem all that bad right now.

At least I’ll be able to
collect the items I originally wanted.

    “The auction is heating up!
The next item is the Bracelet of Play!”

    They say that when you’re
stressed, you should spend money generously.

    Let’s try some reckless
    spending.

    “We’ll start the bidding
    at one gold!”

I’m going to spend all the
    money I have today.

    Although I threw money around
recklessly in my heated state, I didn’t manage to spend it all.

The items I was aiming for
were mostly practical rather than luxury items, so the prices didn’t
    go up too much.

Thanks to that, I managed to
buy most of the items I had targeted, yet I only spent about half of
the money I had on me.

    Even after the auction ended,
I didn’t head straight out of the auction house.

Right now, I’m in the guise of
someone other than Lucy. One of the powers Lucy possesses is the
    ability to slip through crowds.

Since I can’t use that power
right now, I’ll have to endure the stares and bumping into people.
It’s better to wait until most people leave and then exit slowly.

    “I’ve brought the items,
    Lady.”

I dawdled for quite a while
after receiving the items I purchased at the auction, and only came
out of the private room once it had quieted down outside.

    There were still several
people lingering in the auction house, but not enough to block my
    way.

Good. Now I can quickly get
back, throw off this terrible Gothic Lolita outfit, and change into
    my regular clothes.

    “You there. Hold on a
    moment.”

Noticing the gaze of the man
calling out to me, I lowered the brim of my hat to cover my face.

    Although he was acting polite,
the emotion in his eyes was clear.

Why would a nobleman, whom I
don’t even know, approach me with such greed?

    It’s obvious.

    “Good day, young master of
    the Rumley family.”

Just as the man tried to
approach me, Possell and Erin blocked his path, and at the same time,
a thug stepped forward to stop him.

    “And who might you be?”

    “I serve Lady Sartus. Our
Lady is quite shy, so if you have anything to say, you can tell me
and I will convey the message.”

    The thug’s response was
impeccably polite, designed to leave no room for reproach. However,
this approach only works when the other party is reasonable.

“Step aside. I wish to speak
    directly.”

    “But—”

    “Do you not understand? I’m
not asking for your permission. As the eldest son of the Rumley
Family, I am giving you a command.”

    Against an unreasonable fool,
    such responses are meaningless.

    Ha. Just when things weren’t
going my way, a dog-like person had to come and make my day worse.

    “You’re as slow-witted as
your lowly status. Think about it. This is also for the sake of your
master. Isn’t this a chance to turn your life around, coming from an
insignificant family? Although your family’s status is low, your face
isn’t bad, so maybe I’d take you as a concubine.”

    The decision was quick.

    He’s practically begging me to
take out my frustrations on him.

    As I stepped forward, Possell
and Erin tried to hold me back, but I ignored them.

So what? The auction is over
anyway. At most, I’ll just get kicked out.

I reached the thug’s side and
    looked up at the man.

I gave him a light smile, and
    the man burst into laughter.

    “Ha ha. See, even the
Lady wants to talk with me…”

    But his laugh didn’t last
long. I had kicked him between the legs before he could finish his
    sentence.

The man’s face, which had been
full of joy, instantly turned blue as he collapsed.

    He’s quite the crybaby, even
though I didn’t hit him that hard because I’m not feeling well.

    “Brother?!”

As soon as the man crumpled to
the floor, a woman rushed over with several attendants in tow.

That face was familiar to me.

    Avery.

    She’s the second-in-command of
Joy’s group of ladies, she resents me, but is unable to do anything
because I have a hold on her.

In some ways, she’s a much
more fitting villainous lady than Joy herself.

    So her family name was
    Rumley?!

    The moment I recognized her
face, the heat that had rushed to my head started to cool down.

Of all things, I had to run
into someone I know from the Academy.

The only reason I was keeping
my composure now was because I believed today’s incident would stay
    just that — today.

But if word got out that I
walked around in a Gothic Lolita outfit and it didn’t end today…

    No.

    That would be a true
    humiliation.

    “You! How dare you attack
the one who will eventually inherit the Rumley Family! What
    confidence do you have?!”

    Did you forget that perverted
creeper approached me first? You only see the things that suit you,
    huh?

    I swallowed back those words
that were on the tip of my tongue.

    Saying anything would reveal
    my true identity.

    ‘Grandpa, is this really the
    time for such talk?!’

But then my true identity will
    be exposed!

You really don’t have even a
    trace of delicacy, do you?

    Yes, I know.

    Alright, let’s think
    positively.

Avery has no choice but to
    obey me anyway.

    Even if she discovers my
identity, as long as I make her keep her mouth shut, there won’t be
    any problems.

    “Why are you just
standing there are you mute or something? Answer me!”

    Seeing Avery raise her voice,
I slightly lifted the brim of my hat with one hand, revealing my red
    hair to her.

Then, I finally spoke out in
the voice I had been hiding.

    “Trash Lady♡”

    Whispering softly enough so
only Avery could hear, I watched as she froze in place.

    Her once confident and firm
gaze now wandered aimlessly, lost in midair.

    “…Lady Allen?”

    “Would you kindly take
your filthy hands off me?♡ The very thought of breathing the same
air as you makes me feel nauseous, and now that you’re touching me, I
feel like I’m going to vomit. ♡

    Avery didn’t deny or question
    anything.

The moment she heard my voice,
she immediately realised my identity. She quickly withdrew her hand
and clasped them together in front of her.

    “I’m sorry!”

    “You don’t actually think
that pig-like voice of yours is pretty, do you? ♡ Shut up. ♡”

    “…Yes.”

    Grabbing Avery by the collar,
I pulled her close and whispered into her ear.

    “Listen carefully. Today,
nothing happened, understand? Even a dumb Goldfish Lady can
    comprehend this much, right? ♡”

We didn’t meet at the auction
    today.

    Your brother was just showing
off, trusting his own power, and he got beaten up by some unknown
    Lady.

Maybe it was because of my
order to shut up, but Avery nodded desperately instead of replying.

    Good. She should understand
    now.

    I released her collar and
stepped back behind the thug. Avery then dismissed her attendants.

    They didn’t understand her
command but didn’t dare to disobey her either.

Thus, we were able to leave
the auction house, leaving the man foaming at the mouth on the
    ground.

    I heard later that,
regrettably, Rumley Young Master’s sexual functions were intact.

I had intended to break at
    least one part of him.

    I guess my physical condition
wasn’t great, so I couldn’t control my strength properly.

    Several days after the
incident at the auction house, which had me kicking my blankets at
night multiple times, a letter arrived from the Partan Duke’s Family
    to our family.

    There were two letters.

One was an invitation from the
    head of the Partan Family.

And the other was a letter
    from Joy to me.

-Lady Allen, would you like to
come a few days earlier and spend some time together? I would love to
introduce you to the Partan Territory.

    The response was obvious.

There was no way I could
refuse when my favourite character wanted to hang out with me!
