Mesugaki Tank Enters the Academy –
    169

    “Ugh♡ Panting like a
dog while lying on the ground♡ Don’t you feel ashamed?♡ How could
your stamina be worse than that of a little girl who is two heads
    shorter than you?♡ As a man, you’re a complete failure♡ Should I
call you Princess from now on?♡ Sloppy Pitiful Princess♡”

    I tried provoking Arthur, who
was sprawled out on the ground, to get him to stand up, but his body
didn’t respond. His arms, pressed against the ground, were shaking,
indicating that his body wouldn’t obey his mind.

    I then turned towards Phoebe,
    and she shook her head.

    “If you push him any
    further, it might cause harm.”

Hmm. Is that so? How strange.
When I trained with the Allen Family, the regimen was even tougher
    than this.

    Possell didn’t care about the
limits of my body. There were times when I passed out from hardcore
training with him and woke up on a bed.

    Compared to that, this is
    nothing, right?

    ‘Really? But everyone should
be able to handle at least this much.’

It’s not like I started with
anything special. I used an elixir to normalise my previously weak
body before repeatedly training to build it up.

    The rest was just continuous,
gruelling training to build up my physical limits.

    Like a true veteran, I made a
plan and followed it. But the process was simple: effort, effort, and
    more effort.

Even someone like me, who fell
from the modern world into this fantasy world, can handle this much.
Arthur, who’s a certified genius at the Soul Academy, should be
able to do even better, shouldn’t he?

He doesn’t even start with a
    weak base like I did.

    ‘Is that so?’

    I might not know everything,
but since Grandpa says so and the expert in healing, Phoebe, agrees,
it must be right to let Arthur rest.

    ‘Take a break, Arthur.’

    “Well, it can’t be helped.
The Pitiful Prince seems to have such poor stamina that he’s like a
pitiful bug. Just rest as you are.”

    “…Lucy!!!”

Arthur raised his voice at the
provocation from my [Mesugaki] Skill, but it wasn’t scary at all.

    Seeing him trembling on the
ground and shouting just seemed laughable.

If I kept watching him, I
might burst into laughter without realising, so I turned my eyes
    elsewhere.

    There wasn’t a single person
    in good shape anywhere.

    Frey was worn out from
repeatedly sparring with me, Joy was squeezing out every bit of her
nonexistent magic power during training, and Phoebe was close to her
limit, having left only the minimum amount of divine energy to treat
    Arthur.

    Well, we’ve been training
since early morning, so about eight hours have passed. It’s natural
    for everyone to be exhausted.

    Personally, I wanted to move
my body a bit more, but I’d just been told that using my standards
on others is too harsh. Hmm.

    ‘Everyone!…’

    “Sloppies! That’s it for
    today!”

    As I raised my voice,
everyone’s eyes turned to me. The emotions reflected in their gazes
    were clearly bewilderment.

    What’s with this? I’m the
one suggesting we rest for your sake.

    Why are you blinking in
    confusion instead of being happy?

    In the sudden silence, Frey
    was the first to move.

    She walked over with quick
steps, placed her hand on my forehead, and tilted her head.

    “You don’t have a fever?”

    ‘I’m perfectly fine.’

    “Foolish Swordsman. Do I
look sick to your dumb eyes?”

    “But if you weren’t sick,
there’s no way Lucy would suggest taking a break.”

    Everyone nodded to Frey’s
blunt comment. Even Arthur, who was sprawled on the ground.

    …I’ve come to understand
very well what kind of image you guys have of me.

    Fine. If that’s what you
want, I have no choice but to become the person you imagine.

Frey can spar with me, and
Joy, who’s out of magic, can do stamina training with Arthur…

    “Perfect timing. There’s
actually a place I thought would be nice to go to together.”

While I was planning to train
them until they begged for mercy, Joy sensed the ominous atmosphere
    and urgently raised her voice.

    “What kind of place, Joy?”

    “A very nice bakery.”

And then Phoebe joined in with
    enthusiasm.

    “Wow. Desserts. Sounds
    delicious.”

    Frey, who had quickly escaped
from my side, stuck close to the two and said in a hollow tone.

    “Then I’ll pay for it.”

    Arthur, who staggered up,
    concluded the conversation.

After that, the four of them
openly watched me for my reaction.

    As if asking; You’re not
going to suggest more training now, right?

    Come on, you’re making me
look like the bad guy here!

    I’m the one who suggested
    taking a break first!

    Ugh, this is frustrating.
Should I just play the clueless jerk and ruin their plans?

    It wouldn’t be hard to
    ignore their conversation, but…

    I can’t do that.

I get to enjoy desserts and
chat with the main characters from Soul Academy, after all.

    How could someone as obsessed
with the game as me turn down that opportunity?

    ‘Alright. Let’s go to the
    bakery.’

    “Airhead Lady. If the
bread is as dumb as you, you’re in trouble. Got it?”

    “Hehe. I bet on the
    honour of the Partan Family.”

    Just as Joy confidently
mentioned, the bakery she guided us to was a place familiar to me.

It was the place where you
could often find the clumsily disguised Airhead Lady if you visited
    on weekends at Soul Academy.

In other words, it was Airhead
    Lady’s favourite bakery.

    Wow. I had always thought
about coming here with Joy one day, but to have her suggest it first,
    of all things!

    It’s a bit unfortunate it’s
not just the two of us, but I do like this lively atmosphere too.

    More importantly, I can come
here again with Joy in the future!

    While I eagerly looked around,
an employee brought over a variety of pastries.

    I didn’t order anything
specifically, so it must be what Joy usually orders.

The first one to reach out for
the freshly baked, steaming bread was Arthur.

    It’s a croissant. Just from
the golden-brown crust, I could tell it was well-made.

As Arthur took a bite, the
crisp sound of the crust breaking filled the table.

    He chewed with a nonchalant
expression, then with a light smile, nodded approvingly.

    “Quite good.”

    “Quite?”

    “…I meant incredibly
    delicious.”

    “Right?”

    While they continued their
banter, I also reached for the bread.

What I picked was also a
    croissant, just like Arthur’s.

    It looked so delicious seeing
    Arthur eat it.

    Having tasted many delicacies
as the Duke’s Lady, I was curious about the bread from the bakery Joy
always claimed to be the best.

Taking a bite of the croissant
with an excited heart, I couldn’t help but widen my eyes. I had
anticipated the crispiness of the crust.

However, I did not expect the
    softness inside.

The bread melted in my mouth,
and soon after, the rich taste of butter filled it.

    A subtle sweetness. A
pleasantly rich aroma. A hint of saltiness.

    Nothing was lacking.

    Ahh. Definitely. This is the
best bread I’ve ever tasted in my life.

As I came to my senses and
opened my mouth to take another bite, I was shocked to see my hand
    empty.

Huh? Where did the bread go?

    There was definitely a
croissant in my hand just a moment ago?!

“Lady Allen. How was it? Did
    you like it?”

Had she been watching me wolf
    down the bread?

    Joy was watching me with
    satisfaction.

    Ugh. It’s annoying to see
Airhead Lady looking so smug, but I can’t deny it.

    ‘It was incredibly
    delicious!’

    “Huh. Well, for a place
recommended by the Airhead Lady’s airheaded taste, it’s not bad.”

    “Hehe. Right?”

I expected a sharp reaction to
the curt response from the [Mesugaki] skill, but Joy just laughed.

    What’s this? I thought she
would scold me like she did with Arthur.

“What is it? Why are you so
    lenient with her?”

    Arthur seemed puzzled as well
and grumbled at Joy, but she just shrugged her shoulders and answered
    boldly.

    “Because Lady Allen looks
delightful when she’s eating, unlike you, Third Prince.”

    I guess she’s saying it’s
pleasing just to watch me eat. Well, if I keep my mouth shut, I do
    look like a doll.

    It’s just a problem that
every time I open my mouth, a disaster happens.

    Arthur couldn’t refute that,
so he just picked up another piece of bread with a grumble.

    After that, everyone focused
    on eating.

    Starting in the morning and
training hard for 8 hours, we had been busy.

In such a situation, where we
would find anything delicious, how could we resist the delicious
tasting food right before our eyes?

    We were filling our
combat-weary bellies, and only after some time passed did we regain
    our composure.

    Phoebe, who was watching us
moisten our mouths with aromatic tea, chuckled and then broke her
    silence.

“You all must have had a
    hard time.”

    “Saint, you’ve seen us for
the past few days. How could that gruelling training not be tough?”

    Seeing Arthur’s resentful
face, complaining about being unable to do anything except sleep when
he entered the dormitory, Phoebe smiled wryly.

    “But once the holidays start
in a few days, you can rest, right?”

    ‘No, we can’t rest.’

    “What are you talking
about, Sloppy Saint? If the Pitiful Prince takes a break during the
holidays, he’ll only become more pitiful.”

Arthur has to become a Magic
    Swordsman greater than me.

Do you think I’ll allow him to
become just a mediocre Magic Swordsman by taking it easy?!

    “What?”

    “I’m saying that there’s
a schedule even during the holidays, so we can’t rest, Saint.”

    “Well, that’s…”

    Of course, I have separate
things to do during the holidays, so I can’t keep on monitoring
    Arthur.

So, I have to trust his
    integrity.

But it should be fine. His
pride is incredibly strong. Arthur is not the type to allow himself
    to take it easy.

    Moreover, I’ve already warned
him that if he seems below my standards in the second semester, I’ll
drill him hard. He should take care of himself well.

Phoebe didn’t know what to say
to the now dejected Arthur, so she blinked and then turned her gaze
    to Joy.

    “Joy, what are you going
    to do during the holidays?”

    “Me? I don’t have any
special plans. I’ll probably return to my family for now.”

Joy said so while glancing my
    way.

What is it? Do you have
    something to say?

    “…I’ll probably be
    balancing study and training.”

    Seeing how she’s not saying
much, I guess it was just my imagination.

    “How about you, Lady
    Kent?”

    Frey, who was continuously
eating bread, finally opened her mouth after a long chew when Phoebe
    asked her a question.

    “I’ll be training too.”

    With that, she gave another
curt reply and tossed more bread into her mouth.

Not that I’m one to talk, but
still. Even if it’s to the Saint, shouldn’t you show a bit more
    respect, Frey?

You might end up with a
    reputation as bad as mine.

Oh, but in her case, she
probably doesn’t care about that. She always does things her own way.

    “And what about you, Lady
    Allen?”

    Phoebe’s question eventually
    circled back to me.

What will I be doing during
the holidays? I do have a few things planned.

    There are two essential tasks
I have to do, and the rest are optional.

    But one thing is certain.

    ‘I’m going to clear a
    dungeon.’

    “I’m going to destroy a
    sloppy dungeon.”
