Mesugaki Tank Enters the Academy –
    148

    Haha. Grandpa, you’re way too
    overpowered.

    Watching Grandpa fight
reminded me of cutscenes from a game.

    The quality of those cutscenes
was like watching a movie, yet it was impossible to replicate them
    within the game itself.

    I can’t even imagine catching
up to him. To see the end of this world, I would have to become an
even greater monster than Grandpa, but could I ever?

How much effort would it take
    to surpass him?

I know how far away it is
    because I’ve played the game.

    It’s so far.

So far away that it seems like
a faint dot in the distance.

    Sigh.
I guess I’ll have to work even harder from now on. Otherwise, I won’t
even be able to get close to Grandpa.

    “Lady Allen.”

    As I was admiring Grandpa’s
display, I heard Phoebe’s voice next to me.

She was also unable to take
her eyes off the miraculous scene unfolding before her, seemingly
    awestruck.

    “That person…”

    ‘He’s Sir Ruel…’

    “He’s my sloppy Grandpa.
He’s the one residing in my mace and my teacher.”

    Since falling into this world,
there were only two people I could call my teachers.

One was Possell. He was the
one who trained me alongside the knights of the Allen Family until I
entered the Academy. Thanks to that, I now don’t even flinch when
    breaking my physical limits.

The other one is Grandpa Ruel.

    After overcoming the trials
and meeting Grandpa Ruel, he taught me how to fight with a mace and
    shield.

    Every time I trained, he’d
educate (scold) me, which often made me think he was being picky. But
now, seeing him swing that mace, I can understand his perspective.

For him, it must have been
frustrating, thinking, Why can’t she get this simple thing?

Even now, look at him! He’s
smacking Nacrad around with his mace, glancing at me as if to say,
    Watch and learn.

    Grandpa, I still have no
confidence to follow what you do yet.

In terms of studying, I’m just
a kid who has barely mastered the multiplication table.

    Showing a kid like that
problems that might appear in a college entrance exam and expecting
them to learn from it is just too much. All I can do is marvel at it.

I’ll try to imitate you, but
don’t expect too much, okay? And later, don’t complain about why I
    can’t do it.

    Unable to bear getting beaten
by Grandpa any longer, Nacrad staggered to his feet and summoned his
    minions from the shadows.

    Wow. That’s practically a
last-ditch effort. The Evil God hasn’t fully revived yet, so creating
those minions takes a considerable amount of time.

    Originally, those minions were
supposed to attack the Academy during the final exam, but you’re
summoning them now? Guess Grandpa really scared him.

But what can you do? Those
things don’t seem to pose even the slightest threat to Grandpa.

    Despite being surrounded by
the horde of monsters, Grandpa remained unfazed.

    He simply wore a calm
expression. Soon, he raised his mace high, and divine energy started
    gathering there.

Holy… Why is the density of
divine energy gathering up there like that? It’s practically a small
    sun.

    Grandpa, are you saying this
is the level I’ll eventually reach? Just how far do you think I’ll
    grow?

Alright, I get it. I’ll meet
your expectations. I’m the cream of the crop from Soul Academy, after
all. I’ll make sure to amaze you.

One day, I’ll surpass you, and
you’ll hear me call your techniques sloppy So keep your hopes up.
When the time comes, don’t complain about my arrogance or anything.
After all, you created this monster.

    As the divine energy gathering
above the mace began to radiate its light, the creatures born from
the darkness started to retreat one by one.

    Even beings born from the
power of the Evil God were helpless against this light.

    After all the creatures
summoned by Nacrad had vanished, Grandpa dismissed the divine energy
he had conjured and approached Nacrad.

    “That person is Lady Allen’s
    mentor.”

    Phoebe watched him with
    reverence in her eyes.

Unlike me, who had no thoughts
about Armadi, she was a devout follower.

    Seeing the miracles performed
by a legendary Paladin and a designated saint who once saved the
world would surely bring many thoughts to mind.

“It seems there was a good
reason the Lady was so strong.”

    ‘That’s indeed the case.’

    “What are you talking about,
Sloppy Saint? I’m strong because of my own talent, not because that
Sloppy Grandpa taught me well. Don’t talk nonsense.”

    Hey there, [Mesugaki] Skill.
Why are you grumbling so much? You’re making Phoebe look confused
    about what to say.

    Bang!

    As Grandpa slammed Nacrad with
his mace, a small earthquake erupted.

    Cracks spread across the
ground, and debris scattered into the air with the dust. Grandpa,
standing in the midst of the chaos, didn’t have a particularly
    pleased expression.

Just a moment ago, Nacrad had
vanished from that very spot. Did he escape?

    Grandpa clicked his tongue
lightly, swung the mace to clear the surrounding smoke, and began
    walking toward us.

    “Sorry, I couldn’t
finish him off. There’s a limit to what I can do since this is a
    mental world, after all.”

    Well, that couldn’t be
helped. My primary goal here was to rescue Phoebe, and tormenting
Nacrad was just an added bonus.

    Even though it was slightly
disappointing, it was fine. After all, we had caused some damage,
right? So, I was planning to smile and tell him not to worry, but
unfortunately, there was a barrier called the [Mesugaki] Skill in my
    way.

    ‘It’s okay, Grandpa.’

    “Sloppy Grandpa, can’t
you even do one thing properly? I guess it was my mistake to expect
anything from a Grandpa stuck within a toilet plunger. What a
    pathetic old has-been.”

    “I’m going to lose my
mind. How on earth do others endure this manner of speaking?”

    Grandpa, you can’t react
    this way. It’s problematic.

Joy and Arthur listen to this
tone all day long, and you, a designated saint, can’t handle even
    this much?

    Still, considering what you
just showed us, I’ll take a step back this time, Grandpa.

    ‘I’m sorry. Please bear with
    it a bit.’

    “What? You can’t even
endure this much, old has-been? Ha, unbelievable. And this guy is
supposed to be a saint? So~ Sloppy.”

    Ah, right. Mentioning
    apologies makes the distortion worse.

    Grandpa sighed at the taunts
coming from the [Mesugaki] Skill, and Phoebe looked shocked.

Of course, she would have that
expression if she saw someone being disrespectful to a person who
should be treated with respect and reverence.

    Phoebe’s just being kind by
not saying anything. If it were someone with a quick temper, they’d
    have snapped, calling it outrageous.

    “Excuse me. Sir Ruel.”

    Phoebe spoke up hesitantly as
I contemplated the need to hold my tongue for a while.

    Grandpa slightly raised an
eyebrow, turned his head towards Phoebe, and smiled gently.

    “What is it, child?”

    “Is it always like this?”

    No! Phoebe! Don’t
misunderstand! I’m actually pretty respectful to Grandpa! I always
use honorifics when I speak to him!

    Sure, I sometimes act rudely
to Grandpa, but that’s only because he started it! I do treat him
    well! Really!

    While I was making these
excuses in my mind, a good idea suddenly came to me.

    …Wait? Isn’t this an
opportunity? A chance to prove that my use of the Mesugaki tone isn’t
by choice but because of Armadi!

Think about it. If someone who
constantly calls people sloppy or trash suddenly says that their
manner of speaking is all because of Armadi, wouldn’t that sound
    ridiculous?

    People who don’t know how
perverted Armadi is would never believe that he’d force someone to
speak in such a tone. They would think I’m trying to justify my
    behaviour with nonsense.

    But if Grandpa explains it,
    it’ll be a different story!

    Who wouldn’t believe it if
Grandpa, a Paladin, the Hero who saved the world, and a Saint, proves
    my innocence?!

    Especially to Phoebe, who just
witnessed Grandpa’s miracle! That would make it even more convincing!

    Grandpa! Please! Quickly, tell
    Phoebe that I’m innocent!

Then Phoebe, with her Title of
    Saint, can persuade others, right?

If things could just work out
this way, my reputation could be saved!

    As I conveyed my thoughts
    through my gaze, Grandpa nodded.

    He’s always so perceptive.
There’s no way he didn’t understand what I was thinking.

Ah, finally, I’ll be able to
    enjoy school life properly.

    “Always…”

    Huh? Grandpa, why didn’t you
    finish your sentence?

    You’re usually so eloquent,
why can’t you complete your thought now?

    Are you teasing me? Right?

    Please tell me you are!

    Grandpa! Please!

    “Well, despite the way
she speaks, she has a kind heart.”

    “Indeed. Lady Allen is a
    good person.”

    What the heck?!

    Grandpa! The way she speaks?
This isn’t what we agreed on!

Why are you praising my kind
heart when you should be explaining my speech habits?!

Just as I was about to shout
at Grandpa to give a proper explanation, I suddenly lost
    consciousness.

    When I regained awareness
amidst the fading consciousness, I saw the church scenery I had seen
    before entering Phoebe’s mental world.

    Was I expelled from Phoebe’s
    mind?

    “Did you resolve
    everything?”

When I looked up at the voice
coming from above, I saw the perverted Fox’s face.

Why does she like clinging to
me so much but refuses to let me touch her in return? I really can’t
    understand it.

    ‘Yes.’

    “Can’t you tell just by
    looking, perverted Fox?”

    “That’s good.”

    The perverted Fox giggled and
then escaped from above my head, moving to a place where my hand
    couldn’t reach.

Damn sloppy Fox. I’d love to
chase her and mess up her fur, but there’s something more urgent
    right now.

    Grandpa.

    I need to demand an
    explanation.

    ‘Answer me, Grandpa. Why did
    you do that?

Why did you throw away the
opportunity to clear up all the misunderstandings people have about
    me!

It was a golden chance that
    will never come again!’

    ‘What’s that supposed to
    mean?’

    Grandpa’s words about
thoughtfully saying I have a kind heart made me frown.

    There’s only one person who
would impose restrictions to prevent an explanation of my skill.

    You sloppy, sadistic,
    pedophilic, masochistic, perverted trashy God!

Do you have to go this far to
    be satisfied with tormenting me?!

    Can’t I live comfortably for
    once?!

Do I have to be seen as a
Mesugaki and get glares from everyone all the time?!

    Recently, I’ve been trying
to improve my image, so you couldn’t stand that I wasn’t being
    criticised?!

    Fine! You sadistic pervert who
    enjoys tormenting girls!

    I granted your requests, so
    why can’t you grant mine?!

Why can’t I ever be happy!
    Why!

    Ding.

    Just as I was screaming
    internally, a notification sounded.

    [Quest Clear!]

    [You successfully rescued
    Phoebe within the time limit!]

    [Rewards will be given!]

    What’s this?

Is it a, sorry about that,
    take this and get lost?

Hey. You sloppy idiot. I’m in
a really, really bad mood right now.

    No matter what kind of
mediocre reward you give me, it’s not going to improve my mood. No
    matter what you give.

    [Practice Mode has been
    unlocked!]
