Mesugaki Tank Enters the Academy –
    140

    “Karl, your lady
certainly carries the blood of the Allen Family,” Anton remarked
with a wry smile, watching Lucy Allen standing firm and taunting
despite the hundred-strong crowd charging at her.

    Who would believe that such
spirit comes from someone who hasn’t even been at the Academy for six
    months?

    Even among seasoned knights
and adventurers, there are scarcely any who could display such
    spirit.

    What’s even more remarkable is
that Lucy is holding her own against a legion of a hundred.

    The skirmish began when she
picked up and threw Lady Meryl of the Baines Family with one hand.
From that point on, Lucy demonstrated her abilities against the
    combined attacks.

    Her incredible shield work
blocked most of the numerous strikes aimed at her.

She could shake off four to
five male peers effortlessly with her strength.

    Her wide vision and quick
judgments helped her avoid getting surrounded.

    “Sloppy fools ♡ Is this
all you’ve got?♡ Can’t even catch one girl, stumbling around like
    idiots ♡ Hilarious ♡”

    Even when a single mistake
could have resulted in her being overwhelmed, she never lost her
    composure.

    Lucy Allen certainly carried
the blood of the Allen Family, the blood of a knightly lineage with a
    longstanding tradition.

    Anton had expected Karl to
respond excitedly to his praise, but to his surprise, Karl remained
    silent.

    ‘What’s going on?
Considering his usual personality, I thought he’d say, Of course,
she’s my lady. This is nothing special!’

    Pondering this, Anton turned
his head and noticed Karl with an unusually serious face, peering
    down.

    “Karl?”

    “Oh. Yes, Professor
    Anton.”

    “What’s the matter?”

    “I am just surprised at
how fast Miss Lucy is growing… It’s quite unexpected.”

Karl tried his best to keep an
eye on Lucy’s every move, but there were limits to what he could do.

Even though he was a professor
in name only, he couldn’t stay by Lucy’s side all the time,
    abandoning everything else.

To be there for Lucy whenever
she needed him, Karl had to focus on his own duties.

    Thus, Karl wasn’t fully
aware of just how powerful Lucy had become. Recently, Lady Kent had
been taking his place as her sparring partner, which only added to
    his surprise.

In this moment, Karl was in
awe of how Lucy had far exceeded his expectations.

    ‘So, this is Miss Lucy’s
true strength. I see now. Even during sparring classes and dungeon
missions at the Academy, she was always holding back.

She never needed to use her
    full power.

And here I was, naively trying
to fit her into the bounds of common sense! Miss Lucy is breaking
through conventional limits and writing her own history! How could I
have been so irreverent as a knight?

    Ah…

    Once today’s events are
over, I must report to the Lord. If he hears how much Miss Lucy has
grown, he will surely shed tears of joy.

And I should also mention how
well she gets along with those around her.’

“You two! Is this the time
    to be spectators?!”

    As Anton and Karl were
leisurely watching the chaos from a tree, one of the Academy’s
    professors approached them.

    Professor Jessel, who taught
Monster Hunting Studies, did not hide her disdainful feelings at all.

    “What’s the matter,
    Professor Jessel?”

    “Is there a problem?”

    “A problem?! Of course there
is! Look at the situation unfolding right now! It’s a complete
    mess!”

    Not all battles labelled as
    chaos are the same.

    Even in confusion, there are
battles where command structures are maintained and cooperation
occurs, while others devolve into everyone losing their minds and
    simply rampaging.

    The conflict happening here
    was clearly the latter.

    “There is a high possibility
that this will lead to an accident!”

    Friendly fire was frequent,
many were trampling on allies strewn on the ground, and there were
numerous instances of people getting tangled and falling over each
other as they tried to attack Lucy.

It was a situation where it
wouldn’t be surprising if a major accident occurred at any moment.

    From the perspective of
ensuring the students’ safety, this situation was the worst.

    “There isn’t much time left
until the field trip ends anyway! I believe it’s necessary to stop
the field trip now under the authority of the professors to ensure
    the students’ safety!”

    Hearing Jessel’s passionate
statement, Anton pondered for a moment before nodding.

    “I believe Professor Jessel
is right. What about the other professors?”

    “They all agreed. We just
    need your permission, Professor Anton!”

    “Is that so? Then I’ll
    take the lead.”

    With those words, Anton leaped
down from the branch to the ground.

    For someone of his large
build, he landed exceptionally lightly. Surveying the chaos around
him, he massaged his neck. It seemed that any ordinary warning
    wouldn’t suffice.

    Having come to that
conclusion, Anton opened his mouth wide and took a deep breath. His
chest rapidly expanded as his lungs filled with air.

When his chest seemed about to
    burst, Anton shouted.

    “EVERYONE STOP!!!!”

    The volume was several times
louder than when Lucy had used amplification magic, resounding not
just through the clearing but throughout the entire forest.

    Everyone who had been charging
at Lucy until just moments ago grabbed their ears and sank to the
    ground.

    Otherwise, it felt like their
    eardrums might burst.

Argh! My ears! It hurts so
    much! Are my eardrums torn?!

Thinking that, I tried to use
a healing spell on myself, but the pain didn’t fade. It seemed my
    eardrums were intact.

In the game, I wondered just
how loud a human voice could get, but experiencing it firsthand, I
    understood it all too well.

    That voice was no joke.
Although there was some satisfaction in experiencing an event I had
seen in the game, the pain outweighed it.

    Even with my absurdly high
physical stats, I’m like this—what about the other students? Most
of the students were already on the ground, writhing in pain.

    “At this moment! By the
professors’ decision, we are concluding the first semester field
    trip! Well done, everyone!”

Anton declared the end of the
field trip with his powerful voice.

    Excuse me, Professor Anton.
Ending the field trip is all well and good, but could you please take
    a look around first?

How many people here do you
think can actually hear you right now? Shouldn’t you give the
students some time to recover first?

As I was thinking that while
watching Anton, another professor started to approach and scold him.

    See? I’m the reasonable one,
and he’s the crazy one, right? It’s a relief to see that.

    ‘That’s right.’

    From the beginning, my plan
was to prompt the termination of the field trip.

    After all, it’s impossible to
carefully subdue about a hundred students without causing major
    injuries.

There might be ways if I
didn’t care about what happened to them, but I had no intention of
    committing murder.

    And the professors would never
allow such a dangerous thing to happen.

    Knowing all this, I never
considered winning the chaos from the start. Instead, I hoped the
chaos would reach an irreversible point.

    If the chaos continued any
further, I wanted the professors to think the Academy students could
    get seriously injured.

    Why? So that everyone could
    have a happy ending.

    Let’s see. According to the
plan, Frey should have brought Joy to Arthur by now.

    I glanced over at Arthur’s
side and saw him talking with Joy.

    Good. Perfect.

    I walked past the students
sprawled on the ground and approached the professors.

    Anton, who was getting scolded
by Jessel, brightened up when he saw me. He seemed to think I was his
    saviour from the lecture.

But in reality, I had brought
    an even bigger problem.

    ‘Excuse me, professors.’

    “Hey, Sloppy Professors.
What do you mean by ending the field trip? There are still hours
left. Are you idiots who can’t remember what you said yourselves?”

    “Of course, we understand,
but it is the professors’ decision that we must end it now. Please
    understand.”

    Jessel was the one who
answered my sharp question. She asked for understanding in a polite
    yet firm tone.

    Jessel explained with various
reasons, making it clear that declaring the end of the field trip
earlier was the best decision the professors could make given the
    situation.

    Her explanation was quite
persuasive—enough that if I were a rational person, I might have
    nodded in agreement.

    However, the unfortunate thing
for Jessel was that I had no intention of behaving rationally.

Because, after all, I was a
cheeky Mesugaki, right? Rationality? Reason? That’s none of my
concern! Mesugakis are supposed to be reckless!

    “Blah, blah, blah. Noisy,
aren’t you, lady? ♡ I’m asking why you ended this fight on a
    whim! ♡”

    “As I mentioned
    earlier…”

    “Aaah~ ♡ Quiet down~ ♡
If the fight had continued, I would have beaten those sloppy ♡
trash ♡ students. Wouldn’t their loots have been mine then? ♡ I’m
asking how you’re going to make up for that. ♡ Hm? ♡ Is your
intelligence too low to understand? ♡”

    “I understand that’s
    regrettable. However.”

“Lady ♡, do you want to
keep throwing a tantrum? ♡ It’s not my fault you’re not popular
with men because you lack charm, is it? ♡”

    As I continued provoking her,
cracks began to show in Jessel’s composed demeanour.

Wow, her gaze is fierce. It’s
clear from her expression that she’d love to teach me some manners
    with her fists.

    Knowing Jessel’s skills and
true nature better than anyone, I am worried about the repercussions.
But what can I do? There’s no turning back now.

    “Take responsibility♡, you
    old maid professor♡.”

    “From the very beginning,
could Lady Allen really be sure of her victory? On the contrary, I
might have prevented the risk of her defeat and losing her loot.
Since the skirmish ended prematurely, no one can say what the result
    would have been.”

    Ahaha. She took the bait.
Jessel, usually so rational, ended up saying something completely out
    of character.

    Thank you, for saying exactly
    what I wanted you to.

    “Me?♡ Losing to those
sloppy losers?♡ Ha♡. Old maiden professor, your jokes are not
    funny♡.”

“I do not deny Lady Allen’s
abilities. However, considering the special circumstances of the
field trip and the chaotic situation at the time, I cannot say for
certain that Lady Allen wouldn’t have been defeated.”

    “Excuse me for a moment.”

At the very moment Jessel was
speaking so definitively about the previous situation, Arthur chimed
    in from the side.

He cast a glance at me with an
expression hard to read before turning his gaze to Jessel.

“If what you just said is
true, Professor Jessel, doesn’t that mean Lucy Allen’s loot had
the potential to be divided among everyone?”

    Hearing Arthur’s words,
    Jessel finally regained her composure.

    You just realised that now,
    Jessel?

Do you realise that what you
just said could cause a bigger stir than you think?

Ending the field trip for the
    students’ safety? Sure, that’s fine.

    But what about the students
who might fail this field trip because of the professors’ decisions?
Do you think they care about that?

If they had defeated me, they
might have gotten good grades, but the professors forcibly took that
    opportunity away.

What do you think will happen
    if such an opinion forms?

I don’t know for sure, but
wouldn’t it become pretty troublesome? Don’t you think, Professor
    Jessel?
