Mesugaki Tank Enters the Academy –

Watching the Fox throw away
her dignity was incredibly painful.
People say that a bit of
eccentricity can be charming, but when it goes too far, it’s just
disgusting. Anyone seeing the Fox rubbing her face against my leg
would think so. At least, that’s what my party members thought.
Joy was utterly frozen, unable
to believe what she was seeing, and even Phoebe closed her eyes in
prayer as soon as she witnessed the Fox’s eccentricity.
In the midst of everyone’s
shock, Frey alone remained calm. Known for being crazy in her own
way, she sat down in front of Fox and reached her hand towards her
chin.
“Who’s a good girl?”
“Hey! Move aside! I want to
be treated like a dog by someone who is so beautiful it’s as if she
was sculpted by the gods, not by someone semi-pretty like you!”
Although the fox was a weirdo,
she had her own sense of principles.
Firmly rejecting Frey’s
touch, she crawled over to me and started making whimpering sounds,
as if begging to be stepped on.
Though I found the sight
utterly repulsive and didn’t want to touch her with so much as a
finger, if it could bless Phoebe, it would be worth it.
All I had to do was sacrifice
my dignity. It’s fine. This is definitely better than dressing up
as a Bunny Girl. Repeating this to myself, I gritted my teeth and
placed my foot on the Fox’s head.
“Hey, Little Girl. Could you
do me a favour and step on me barefoot, without the armour?”
“Shut up♡ pathetic
perverted Fox♡ How dare you speak like a human when you’re just a
dog?♡ As a dog, you should be satisfied with whatever your master
gives you and wag your tail♡”
Pressing her head down with my
cold iron boot, the Fox began to bark happily and wag her tail, just
as I ordered…. I must clean my armour later. Especially the foot
part, I need to scrub it thoroughly.
“I’m sorry, Lady Allen.
Because of me…”
‘Please, don’t say
anything.’
“Sloppy Saint, be quiet. I
don’t want to hear your useless words right now.”
“I’m sorry…”
Don’t remind me of it! I’m
trying so hard to forget, and you keep bringing it up?!
After I reluctantly gave you
the blessing while enduring humiliation, you should have just thanked
me and kept your mouth shut!
The Fox, blushing while being
trampled under my foot and listening to the insults, stood up with a
brightened face and declared that she would bless everyone, including
Phoebe.
Although she looked more like
someone who had just done drugs, with drool dripping and eyes glazed
over, she did give out the rewards properly.
The message window showing the
skill acquisition confirmed it.
After that, the Fox suggested
we stay a bit longer, but we all unanimously refused.
Everyone understood that there
was nothing good to be gained from staying with that perverted fox.
Having escaped from the
pervert fox’s mansion, we returned to the forest where the field trip
was taking place.
It seemed as if we had spent a
considerable amount of time enduring trials of the Fox, as the moon
was now sharing its light with the surrounding stars at the centre of
the sky.
Since the field trip started
around noon, by now, the first-year students of the Academy would be
tired and taking a break.
They must all be excited.
Except for the fact that monsters exist in the forest, they’re on a
camping trip with close friends.
By now, they’re probably
praising each other, talking about who did well and what was
impressive today.
At school, they must’ve
learned to prepare for surprise attacks by monsters, but excited kids
in a real-world setting won’t be able to defend properly, will they?
There’ll definitely be lots of shortcomings.
So now is the perfect time to
teach the first-year Academy students, who have a soft mindset, a
dose of reality.
It’s unfortunate for the other
kids, but I’m really stressed to the limit because of that
perverted fox. I need somewhere to vent.
‘Everyone…’
“Sloppy fools. Now it’s
time to do what I talked about at the beginning. Surely, there’s no
one who has already forgotten that, right, stupid dummies?”
Let’s start the manhunt.
I’m going to vent all the
pent-up frustration in my heart on other innocent people.
Arthur poked the campfire with
the end of a stick and looked around. Those accompanying him this
time all had smiles on their faces.
“Sir Matthew, you’re
truly as remarkable as everyone at the Church of Armadi said. Your
timing with divine magic is impeccable.”
“Haha, it’s all thanks
to Young Master Bigo steadfastly holding the front lines.”
“How could it be thanks
to me? He is…”
Arthur’s party achieved
outstanding results today. It was thanks to the individual members’
abilities, but also because of Arthur’s excellent leadership.
As soon as Arthur heard that
the Academy’s field trip would start in Scytil Forest, he began
researching the forest.
To achieve better grades than
Lucy. This time, he intended to surpass Lucy once and for all.
Arthur investigated the
geography of Scytil Forest, the types of monsters that lived there,
how to hunt them, and strategies to lure more monsters. He studied
various aspects and purchased many items to apply his knowledge in
the forest.
Thanks to Arthur’s meticulous
preparation, his group succeeded in hunting fifty monsters on the
first day. This achievement was only possible due to his thorough
planning.
Though the process was
gruelling and challenging, the party’s mood was cheerful because they
were rewarded for their hard work.
Arthur watched his party
members chatting and laughing, contemplating the next day.
He believed that this field
trip favoured those who took the lead early on.
Since the number of monsters
in the forest was limited, securing a large number of kills early
meant that those who followed later wouldn’t be able to catch up.
No matter how exceptional Lucy
Allen’s abilities were, she couldn’t achieve high grades if there
were no monsters left for her to hunt.
Thus, this field trip provided
the perfect opportunity for him to surpass Lucy. In this environment,
strategy was more crucial than individual ability.
They would continue their
strenuous efforts with minimal rest until tomorrow. By doing so, they
aimed to claim all the monsters in the forest.
There might be some
complaints, but the assurance of overwhelming results and the rest
that would follow should balance things out.
‘This time, I can defeat
Lucy Allen. I can carve the taste of defeat onto her arrogant face.’
Just as Arthur was clenching
his fists with determination, a sound of a branch breaking came from
beyond the bushes.
What? Is it a monster?
“Everyone, get up!”
Those who had grown accustomed
to following Arthur’s commands throughout the day immediately took up
their battle stances without hesitation.
“What’s this? So it was
the Pitiful Prince’s party? I thought I smelled the stench of
losers.”
However, as soon as Arthur
heard the familiar, irritating voice from the darkness, he couldn’t
help but let out a dry laugh.
Lucy Allen. In some ways, she
was even harder to deal with than a monster.
“Hello, Pitiful Prince.”
“Yeah. Nice to see you,
Lucy Allen.”
Seeing the armoured girl
emerge from the bushes, Arthur lowered the sword he was holding.
Lucy Allen, Joy, Frey Kent,
and the Saint too, huh?
‘Incredible. This is
practically the best combination you could form in the current first
grade of the Academy.
There’s no way my party can
win against them, and even if we had Jack here, a frontal assault
would be impossible.
This is truly dreadful. To
properly face them, we’d need to bring in knights who are currently
active in the field.’
“What brings you
wandering around this late? The forest at night is dangerous.”
“Could you not compare my
party to a sloppy group like yours, Pitiful Prince? It’s pathetic.”
Based on their overwhelming
individual power, they were continuing to hunt even at night. Well,
with Lucy Allen, it’s possible.
She’s the type who trains
her party through unending dungeon attacks regularly.
‘Frey Kent and Joy would
have significantly increased their stamina by now, so staying up all
night together wouldn’t be a big deal.
Even the Saint seems to have
more stamina than I thought. She doesn’t look tired at all.’
Arthur also wished he could
maintain such long attacks, but it was an impossible feat.
Unlike Lucy Allen’s party,
which was accustomed to such gruelling conditions, Arthur’s party had
its limits.
‘No matter how well I’ve
prepared, I can’t be sure of victory. The total hunting time will
make a difference.
Tsk. My preparations were
lacking. I should have started preparing my party members earlier,
even when no event was happening.’
“Take care. We need to
rest.”
Arthur, feeling his own
inadequacy again, suggested they move on, but Lucy Allen didn’t
budge.
What now? Does she have more
to say?
“Airhead Lady.”
“Yes.”
The moment Lucy Allen called
out to Joy, Joy cast the spell she had been preparing.
The ice magic she used fell
precisely on the campfire, snuffing out the only source of light in
the dark forest.
‘What is this?!’
“Ugh?!”
Surprised by the sudden
darkness, Arthur took a heavy blow to his abdomen and collapsed.
Caught off guard by the unexpected attack, all Arthur could do was
claw at the dirt on the ground.
As Arthur desperately
struggled to get up, various sounds echoed through the darkness.
The sounds of people fighting.
Men’s screams.
One by one, bodies hitting the
ground.
Only when the forest’s silence
was broken by the groans of several men, did light return to the
scene.
Finally, Arthur managed to
lift his head, discovering his party members sprawled on the ground.
“Lucy Allen! What on
earth are you doing? Attacking fellow students!”
“What’s wrong with that?
I just taught these amateurs their place.”
“What’s wrong?! Is that
even a question?!”
“Look. The Academy’s
Sloppy Professors aren’t intervening at all.”
Listening to Lucy’s words,
Arthur realised something was off.
The Academy’s professors might
be hidden, but they should be scattered around ensuring the students’
safety.
‘Why weren’t they
intervening in this chaos? Did they not anticipate it?
That’s impossible. Just look
at the people here.
A Prince and a Saint.
The Duke’s Lady and the
Count’s Lady.
Not a single insignificant
person among them. But why would they neglect surveillance?
We’ve had issues several times
this year. So this means…’
“Is the Academy condoning
this?”
“Pitiful Prince, are you
an idiot? It’s not condoning. The field trip is designed this way
from the start.”
Lucy Allen said this as she
kicked Arthur’s sword far away.
‘Designed this way from the
start?
Were they encouraging fights
between students? The Academy?
Thinking about it, several
things made sense.
No rule preventing attacks on
other students.
Limited monsters and quotas in
the forest.
The rewards given for
collecting a large amount of loot.
So that’s what it was!’
“Pitiful Prince, you may
be an idiot, but you’re not completely clueless, are you?”
“Are you planning to
steal the loot we’ve collected?”
“Steal? This is tuition.
Consider it the price for teaching the Pitiful Prince face reality.
Please don’t make me out to be a villain. The bad one here is the
foolish Pitiful Prince, after all.”
Arthur couldn’t help but let
out a hollow laugh as he looked at Lucy Allen’s shameless smile.
It was truly infuriating.
“Now, hand over the loot
willingly. I’ll leave you with the minimum quota, at least.”
As angry and mortified as
Arthur felt, he had no options. If Lucy Allen wanted, she could
easily decimate their party.
With trembling hands, Arthur
had no choice but to hand over the loot he had painstakingly gathered
all day to Lucy.
“I will definitely get my
revenge, Lucy Allen.”
“Pfft. Revenge? From a
weakling like the Pitiful Prince? Go ahead. At best, you’ll just
flounder at my feet.”
