Mesugaki Tank Enters the Academy –
106
“Lady, what about the
others?”
Bisi looked confused as I
stood alone at the dungeon entrance.
She probably thought I would
ask for help from Karl or someone else.
‘I’m enough on my own.’
“What, are you saying I’m
not enough to clear this sloppy dungeon? How cheeky of you.”
Though I had no choice but to
enter alone, I tried to act confident on purpose.
Complaining to Bisi would only
increase her anxiety.
It was better to instil
confidence that I would take care of things.
For hiding my true feelings,
the [Mesugaki] Skill was quite handy.
It always puts on a cocky and
overconfident face.
No one could ever see the
anxiety or hesitation in my heart.
“Got it.”
Bisi didn’t doubt my words.
Having cleared dungeons with
me before, she knew I wouldn’t make baseless claims.
Looking at it this way, my
reputation has definitely improved.
If this were right after I
first possessed Lucy’s body, everyone would have called my words
nonsense.
Or rather, no one would have
come to ask me for help in the first place.
‘Of course.’
As long as Armadi did his job
properly, there wouldn’t be any problems.
As long as that petty Evil God
Agra doesn’t interfere, I’ll just clear it as usual.
Even if he does interfere, as
long as I can handle it, I’ll take care of it.
Even if it becomes dangerous,
I can just escape.
There’s nothing to lose.
So, there’s no reason to
hesitate.
I just need to do what I want.
Once I made my decision,
Grandpa didn’t try to stop me any further.
‘More importantly, Bisi…’
“Alright, NPC #1. Do you
still have the key I gave you last time? Hand it over. I need it to
conquer this sloppy dungeon.”
“Oh, yes! Here it is.”
Accepting the key Bisi took
out from her chest, I examined the dungeon entrance.
It looked no different from
any other dungeon, but the atmosphere was quite different.
While the dungeons created by
Agra gave off an oppressive feeling, this one felt gloomy and
unsettling.
Fitting for a dungeon made by
an edgy Evil God who deals with darkness.
‘I’ll be back soon.’
“Just wait here like an NPC.
I’ll be back soon.”
As I stepped inside the
dungeon, the surroundings changed.
A dark night sky without any
moonlight greeted me.
Where the mansion outside
looked like it could crumble at any moment, this mansion was
pristine, as if it had just opened its doors.
“A guest has arrived?”
A woman appeared on the stairs
in the middle of the mansion. Her body, dressed in a pure white dress
which was semi-transparent, allowing a clear view of the family photo
hanging behind her.
“Hello. I am Adri. Adri
Velvet. The eldest daughter of the prestigious Velvet Family. Nice to
meet you.”
‘Hello, Adri.’
“Hello, lonely ghost. Are
you happy to have a visitor?”
“Lonely ghost? Me?”
Faint wrinkles appeared on her
cloudy face.
It looks like the [Mesugaki]
Skill is working smoothly today.
Just by greeting her, I
managed to draw the dungeon boss’s attention.
Provoking her a bit in advance
won’t hurt.
After all, I’ll have to
fight Adri in the end anyway.
If I make her angry now, I
might get a stat buff for the whole dungeon.
“For decades, you’ve been
crying ‘lonely♡ lonely♡’ and now you say you’re not a
lonely ghost?♡ That’s so funny.♡ Do you even have any
friends?♡”
Adri’s lips, which had been
curved into a round smile, quickly turned into a straight line and
then drooped downward.
The sound of non-existent
teeth grinding against each other echoed through the empty mansion.
“I am… not alone.”
With each word Adri spat out,
the mansion’s temperature dropped slightly.
And it wasn’t just a
feeling—there was a physical chill.
This space, created around
her, was influenced by her emotions.
However, it didn’t feel cold
to me.
As her mood worsened, a sense
of power surged within me.
“Who else is in this
mansion besides you?♡ Hmm?♡ Lonely ghost?♡”
“You’ll find out soon
enough.”
Adri said that and then
started climbing the stairs, turning her head halfway up.
“Come find me. If you
can, that is.”
With those final words, Adri’s
form dissipated, leaving a silence throughout the empty mansion.
Even though she vanished, the
power remained, thanks to the [Mesugaki] Skill’s buff.
Since this dungeon revolves
around Adri, will the buff continue as long as she hates me?
This works to my advantage.
It means I can move with a
constant buff.
I’m glad I provoked Adri in
advance.
‘It’s because it contains
Adri’s thoughts.’
Dungeons created by evil gods
other than Agra are generally like this.
Since a dungeon is formed
using a specific anchor, it reflects the thoughts or grudges tied to
that anchor, making it different from regular dungeons.
Adri’s dungeon is no
exception.
While typical dungeons involve
descending until you reach the boss room and defeating the boss, this
dungeon is different.
Here, you must wander around
various parts of the mansion to find where Adri is and defeat her.
‘Yes?’
After Adri left, Grandpa
expressed his confusion at seeing me standing still without taking a
single step.
He seemed curious about the
fact that someone like me, who usually clears dungeons with the
greatest efficiency and in the shortest time, was taking it easy.
‘Because this is the correct
strategy.’
If my goal were simply to
clear this dungeon quickly, there would be no reason to stand still.
But my current objective isn’t just to clear the dungeon; it’s to
save Adri.
To save her, I need to
maintain the proper sequence of actions.
After a few minutes of
standing still…
Vague shapes began to appear
one by one on the carpeted floor where there had been nothing.
They took the form of knights.
Old, bloodstained armour.
Faces twisted in pain.
Despite this, their eyes were
filled with determination as they glared at their enemy.
Had Karl seen this, he would
have surely screamed like a little girl and rolled around on the
floor.
What a shame.
Watching Karl tremble is
always amusing, given that he usually just laughs no matter what I
say.
“Leave.”
“You cannot pass this
place.”
“We will protect our
master with our lives.”
Ignoring the knights’ voices
buzzing in my ears, I tightened my grip on the mace. Using the
technique for invoking divine magic, the spell enveloped my mace in
divine energy, causing its end to emit a brilliant light.
A light so bright it seemed
like it could become a sun in the darkness-tinged mansion.
Seeing this, one by one, the
undead knights hesitated and stepped back.
While I often call him sloppy,
useless, or a pervert, the power of Armadi is real. The majestic
presence of a deity standing opposite to the evil gods is a disaster
for those who defy the rules of life in this world*. (*Referring to
Undead.)
No matter how exceptional
these knights were in life, they can’t match my power now.
“What’s this?♡
Scaredy-cats♡ You said you’d protect your master, but you’re
running away because of the light?♡ Pathetic♡ Disqualified as
knights♡ If I were you, I’d hang myself in shame♡”
The undead knights weren’t
very patient. Before my laughter could even escape, one of the
knights at the front charged at me. His sword, gripped in both hands
and lifted high, clearly showed he was driven by emotion and had lost
reason.
No, that won’t do.
Even if I look like a weak
kid, I’m not going to fall for such a sloppy attack.
Before [Iron Wall] could even
react, my body moved on its own.
I didn’t need to hear the
skill’s cues. The combat experience I had accumulated told me the
optimal movement.
I brought up my shield to
deflect the sword aimed at me. Filled with emotion, the knight
launched a full-force attack. As his aim missed, he left a
significant opening.
I raised my mace and
completely shattered the helmet that had been broken once before.
Unable to withstand the divine
power within the mace, the knight turned to ashes and dispersed.
“What are you playing at,
you sloppy knights?”
They feared Armadi’s light.
Watching their comrade turn to
ashes without being able to do anything, they trembled in terror.
“Will you surrender now?
Are you going to beg for mercy while snivelling in front of a girl?
Go on, it might be fun to watch you disgrace yourselves.”
However, their inner fear was
consumed by their rage.
Even knowing they were
powerless and doomed, they charged at me.
That was both their courage
and their folly.
Even with their resolve to
die, the undead spirits’ feebleness did not change.
Their reckless charges
resulted in nothing but their return to ashes.
When all the undead knights
had vanished and silence returned to the mansion, its appearance
began to change.
The once impeccable entrance,
ready to welcome guests at any moment, now looked like a mess caused
by intruders wreaking havoc.
The carpet on the floor was
torn.
The wallpaper was ripped away.
Tables were overturned.
And the glass bottles that had
been on them lay shattered.
’Don’t be surprised,
Grandpa. It will continue like this.’
The change in the appearance
of the mansion was proof that I was attacking the dungeon correctly.
After responding lightly to
Grandpa, I moved my feet toward the next location.
The next place I visited was
the mansion’s reception room.
As soon as I opened the door
and stepped inside, various undead spirits appeared in the previously
empty room.
There was a woman wearing a
torn servant’s dress.
A butler with blood dripping
from his eyes.
And necromancers wearing black
robes who controlled the undead spirits.
Their faces, which would have
normally greeted guests with smiles, were now filled only with hatred
and hostility.
“Return!”
“This is not a place for
light to exist!”
“Do not interfere with the
grudges of the dead!”
Ignoring their absurd chatter,
I took a step forward, and the ghostly servant screamed.
A blast that seemed like it
would shatter the quiet mansion’s windows.
A scream filled with curses.
If I had not been prepared,
listening to that voice would have caused fear, confusion, weakness,
and various other debuffs, but I was fine.
It wasn’t because I am the
Apostle of Armadi.
The reason I could remain
unaffected was due to a skill given to me by Adri, someone who
probably hates me the most in this mansion.
[No More Grudges].
The skill granted by the very
ghost orchestrating this attack was protecting me.
After shutting up the ghost by
smashing her head, I laughed at the ones who had retreated in fear.
“How?”
“Why are you unharmed?”
“What?♡ Are you scared
because things aren’t going as planned?♡ Haha♡ You’re so sloppy♡”
If you want to blame someone,
blame your master. If it weren’t for the skill that was gifted by
them, I wouldn’t be able to move so freely.
“Come at me♡ You vermin♡”
My time is too precious to
waste on you.
