Mesugaki Tank Enters the Academy –
    104

    Naturally, the dungeon raid
    progressed smoothly.

    “Who dares approach Miss!”

    Every time a monster appeared,
Karl slaughtered them as if determined to ensure that they couldn’t
take a single step toward me.

    “I’ve disarmed the traps.
    You can proceed.”

    Alsatine, one of the top-tier
thief NPCs, easily disarmed all the traps in the dungeon.

I supported them as the party
    leader and pseudo-healer.

Except for me, all of them had
specs that were excessively high for an early-game dungeon.

Even Karl alone would be akin
to a catastrophe here, but with Alsatine added, our power was already
    more than sufficient, almost excessive.

With my knowledge as a veteran
player added, our team could be compared to a ship sailing swiftly
    with full sails.

    Originally, I planned to
tackle one dungeon a day and then rest, but at this pace, clearing
two or three in a day wouldn’t be a problem.

    I always knew Karl was
competent, but Alsatine was beyond my imagination.

    Being able to command someone
of such skill because of debt—how much advantage am I gaining
thanks to the Newman Family’s involvement?

Maybe I should let Gus know
later where to get good wigs made.

As I was thinking about this,
a message window popped up in front of me.

It was rare for Armadi to send
a message from inside a dungeon without any reason, so this one was
definitely from Agra, the Evil God.

    [Agra is watching you.]

    Hello, you petty, sneaky, and
psychopathic Evil God, who tries to kill someone just because they
    interfered a little.

I knew you would come. Last
time, after exorcising that sloppy, trashy curse of the petty Evil
God, I had expected this from the moment the message window popped
    up.

    Do you think I brought
Alsatine along half-threateningly, not just Karl?

    I anticipated you would pull
    such a petty stunt.

Well then, let’s see what kind
of nonsense you’ll try this time.

Will you create a new dungeon?

    With our current strength, we
can easily conquer most dungeons without any problem.

    Or maybe you’ll use
    teleportation again?

    I can clear this dungeon
alone, though it might take a little longer.

Or what else will you do?

    I’m curious.

How are you going to mess with
    me this time?

    Honestly, calling it a hassle
    at this point isn’t accurate.

If I had to change the term,
I’d say it’s more like farming support.

    If possible, please try
    something other than teleportation.

    Teleportation just wastes time
    without any benefit.

    ‘Really?’

    A high-level named monster has
    appeared?

They really gave me the best
    one for farming.

    That’s the cleanest and best
    option.

    ‘Direction?’

    Grandpa’s voice is remarkably
    calm as he speaks.

It’s the first time I’ve seen
him so relaxed while giving a warning.

    Usually, when he warned me
like this, he would almost be shouting.

    But those were situations
where my life was on the line, so it couldn’t be helped.

    Grandpa’s information was
    almost always accurate.

Just as 9 or 10 seconds
passed, a monster appeared before us.

    Silver mane that radiated
moonlight and fierce golden eyes that held the moon.

    A Moon Wolf.

    A named monster that rarely
appears in dungeons other than this one.

    It’s definitely strong.

    Its anti-magic properties,
combined with its high speed, attack power, and defensive hide, make
    it quite formidable.

    Moreover, it can use several
    types of magic.

It’s no wonder they say it’s
harder than the boss of the dungeon it appears in.

If I had encountered it with
Joy or Arthur, we would have had to be prepared for death. But not
    now.

    “It’s a Moon Wolf. A
    tricky beast.”

    Karl glanced at it and
    leisurely lifted his sword.

    “Sloppy. Please handle it
without damaging the hide. That thing is worth money.”

    “Hey, Information Seller.
No one besides Miss can call me sloppy.”

    “Is that so? I apologise,
    then.”

While the two, who had become
somewhat acquainted while tackling the dungeon, were bickering, the
Moon Wolf bared its teeth and lunged at Karl.

    Those teeth, which would have
torn through iron if they touched, unfortunately couldn’t bite
    through anything.

    That’s because Karl struck
its face with his bare fist and sent it flying.

“All the profits go to Miss,
    right?”

    “Can’t I at least get a
    sales commission?”

    Watching their relaxed
conversation from behind, I realised there was no need for even
    minimal command.

    Thank you, Petty Evil God.

Not only do you send named
monsters from high-level dungeons to give me experience points, but
you also make my wallet fatter!

When I think about it, it’s
thanks to the Petty Evil God that I became somewhat close to Joy and
    Arthur.

Because you put me in danger
while trying to mess with me, we became connected.

I never imagined a curse would
    help me so much.

    Are you a tsundere god?

    Hehe. Because, you see, I
    really dislike you!

You are quite different from a
certain sloppy and incompetent god I know, who constantly reveals his
    perverted preferences.

    Ah. Of course, I’m not
    referring to anyone specific.

Just that such a god exists.

    Anyway, I continue to look
    forward to your generous support.

So that I can smash your thick
    skull as soon as possible.

    “Miss. It’s done.”

    “Knight. It’s not over
yet. We have to do some trimming, don’t we?”

As I watched with my arms
crossed, Karl took down the Silver Wolf without damaging its hide,
and Alsatine pulled out a dagger from his belt to start cutting off
    the hide.

At the same time, I felt power
    surging through my body.

In the dungeon at the Academy,
I would have to grind for hours, but thanks to the Petty Evil God’s
help, I levelled up in one go.

I can’t say it out loud
because of my [Mesugaki] Skill, but please know that I’m truly
    grateful.

    What? That wasn’t your
    intention? Well, too bad.

    If you’re upset, come down
    here yourse… no, never mind.

    If I say anything unnecessary,
something strange might happen again, so I’ll stop here. Alright.
Then, while we’re on a roll, let’s clear about three dungeons today?

    Joy confidently opened the
answer sheet after finishing the past year’s magical studies’ exam
questions that her older brother had given to her as a gift.

    There wasn’t a single question
    she didn’t know.

    Additionally, she had even
double-checked her answers to ensure there were no mistakes.

It was definitely going to be
    a perfect score.

    With absolute confidence, Joy
raised her red pen, but then frowned as she found an incorrect answer
    in the fourth question.

    ‘What? I checked everything,
and there wasn’t a single mistake!’

    Flustered, she repeatedly
compared the answer sheet with the questions, but she couldn’t find
    any mistake she had made.

    Could the answer sheet my
older brother gave me contain an error?

    “Airhead Lady, didn’t
    you make a mistake here?”

    Hearing a voice behind her
that sounded almost pitying, Joy raised her head to see Arthur
    Soladin standing there.

    He pointed out the question
with his finger, showing Joy where she had gone wrong.

    Joy’s mistake was minor and
    absurdly simple.

It was so simple that Joy
naturally lamented why she hadn’t noticed it herself.

“You seem to get more air
    headed by the day.”

    “That’s a harsh
    accusation, Prince.”

    “However, even now you’re
making such basic mistakes instead of improving.”

    Having no appropriate
    response, Joy shut her mouth.

Joy and Arthur had been close
    friends since childhood.

Arthur was well aware of how
frequently Joy made such minor mistakes.

    Any further argument would
only lead to unearthing more of Joy’s embarrassing lapses in
judgement. Seeing Joy looking down at the ground, Arthur naturally
    took a seat opposite her.

    “Why are you studying alone?
    Where are the others?”

    “It just turned out this
    way.”

    Normally, Joy would have
studied with the other ladies. Even today, they had invited her to
join them. However, Joy declined the invitation. She still felt
uneasy after the recent incident with Lady Rumley.

    “Is that so?”

    “What brings you here,
    Prince?”

    “I came to study. The
    midterms are approaching, aren’t they?”

    Joy found it intriguing that
Arthur had come to study. Normally, Arthur didn’t like to show his
efforts in plain sight. He always wanted to appear perfect and often
pretended to be relaxed, while actually cutting back on sleep to
    study.

For him to be in the library
    studying was unprecedented.

“I need to do everything I
    can to beat Lucy Allen.”

“You plan to beat her in the
    midterms?”

“Yes. I hear that Lucy Allen
has been glued to her desk during every class. Her academic
achievements should be lacking as a result. This is the perfect
    opportunity.”

    Arthur had a determined look
as he smiled, intending to come out on top of Lucy Allen this time.
Unlike before, there was no mix of hatred or anger in his demeanour.

    “I’ve prepared more for
this exam than ever before. No matter how talented Lucy Allen may be,
she can’t beat me with such laziness.”

“So, if you win, will you
tell her not to call you by that nickname?”

    “Of course, I will mention
that. But I have another goal. There’s something I want to ask her.”

    Something to ask? Joy wondered
about Arthur’s choice of words but kept silent when she saw the
    determination in his eyes.

    Just as Arthur hadn’t pried
into Joy’s circumstances a moment ago, it was her turn to show him
    the same consideration.

    “Oh, right. Joy, there’s
something I need to ask you. You’ve been spending a lot of time with
    Lucy Allen recently, haven’t you?”

    “Maybe?”

In reality, it felt more like
she was relentlessly being dragged around by Lucy rather than
spending time with her, but Joy nodded anyway.

    “Do you know if Lucy
Allen has been studying somewhere I wouldn’t know about?”

    Arthur’s question made Joy
    ponder deeply.

    When does she study?

She wakes up in the morning
    and practices until classes start.

    During class, she mostly
    sleeps.

    After class, she trains again
    before going to bed.

    Even on weekends, she’s busy
with dungeon raids and physical training all day.

    “I don’t know.”

    “Is that a secret?”

    “No, I truly don’t know.”

No matter how much she thought
about it, there didn’t seem to be any time for Lucy to study.

But didn’t she say she was
confident about the upcoming exam last time?

What could it be? Could Lady
Allen, like Prince Arthur, be putting in unseen efforts?

    Surely, she wouldn’t claim to
be confident without a plan, right? No way. That can’t be true.
